This year's ninth issue of Kodansha's Young Magazine is announcing on Monday that a second television anime series based on Nobuyuki Fukumoto's gambling manga Kaiji will premiere on April 5 at 24:59 (effectively April 6 at 12:59 a.m.) The second anime series will air on the NTV network three years after the first anime aired.

The Joost website had streamed the 2007-2008 television anime series in the United States. The manga also inspired a 2009 live-action film with director Tōya Satō and Death Note star Tatsuya Fujiwara as the title gambler. That film has a sequel in the works for this year.

There have been three manga sequels since the original 1996-1999 Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji manga series ran in Young Magazine, including the ongoing Tobaku Datenshi-Roku Kaiji Kazuya-Hen.
