A lot, and I mean A LOT of images have to be removed daily as they break the image guideline rules:

No larger than 350KB (0.35MB) in filesize.

----------------------------------------------------------

For example I will take a random TDU Screenshot I took a while back.

Here, uncompressed it breaks the rules (402.48kb).

And here is the same image with the same retained quality but a much more forum and cost effective file size

And here is an example of a previously uploaded picture to show I didn't use witchcraft :p

A member posted this picture and it had to be removed as it broke the rules:

I used the same technique and resaved it using the compression s'shotted above and this is the result:

Link to image (140.41kb): http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq59/IcedBullet2/Speedtouch_Compressed.jpg

Absolutely no difference.

Please, just keep it in your mind, every time you post an image, Diablo has to foot the cost of posting that image. So please don't be trigger happy and crank the image up to compression level 12, just stop and think! :D

Thanks.

I am aware I was a culpret of this action, however will be trying to rectify this in the future :)

Image Hosting Thumbnailing Tips

Imageshack: http://imageshack.com/filename.jpg -> http://imageshack.com/filename.th.jpg

Photobucket: http://photobucket.com/filename.jpg -> http://photobucket.com/th_filename.jpg

Tinypic: http://tinypic.com/filename.jpg -> http://tinypic.com/filename_th.jpg

xs.to: http://xs.to/filename.jpg -> http://xs.to/filename.jpg.xs.jpg

Remember to copy the original filename first before changing to a thumb then highlight the link and create a link to the original file; ie thumb links to fullsize.

Nice, I have always tried to keep my images below the limit, but now I'll move that slider right down and try to use more thumbnails. ;) Thanks for posting the comparison piccys so that you'll see that there is no difference except the filesize :D
