PhoTW: Week 26 Entry

Speed

Recommended Posts

Week 26

Rules:

  • Photo MUST be taken by you.
  • No Voting for yourself!
  • Photos should be within the limits, which means - not bigger than 800x640 and 350 kb.
  • The winner chooses the next week's theme. If someone wins twice in a row, the person they voted for chooses the next theme.
  • If you post more than one photo, you must tell us which one you'll enter with. If you don't, the first photo that you've posted will be entered.
  • Photos cannot be used twice for two different subjects.
  • Your photo must be taken after the contest has started.
  • Your photo must follow the theme. The person who chose the theme has ultimate control over whether a photo gets entered or not - there will be no arguing over whether a photo is acceptable.
  • You must upload your photo either in TinyPic or ImageShack or PhotoBucket. If I can't see the date the photo was taken, I won't enter it.

This week's theme:

Panning Shots

All kinds of panning shots are acceptable, let your photos be focused on something moving.

Closing Date :

Monday, 27th July, 12:00 PM

Entrants:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

7.

8.

Please Note: Koenigsegg will be back before the thread closes and he will decide whos entries are valid. I'm just making this thread while he is away. Make sure you follow all of the rules.

Maybe you should of chosen a theme that fits the rules then. A rule isn't going to get changed because you chose an awkward theme. And as I said, Koenigsegg will decide whos photos will be entered, I'm just here to make the thread while he's away.

I'll wait till he comes back before I enter then. ;)

Dont sure ob it fits the Rules....very wierd to me

It'll probalby change when i know a bit more about the theme...must it be "panning" so the background is blurred or has it to be jsut a moving object that im photographing?

anyways heres my CRAPPY entry for now...whatever

Yes, sorry. The main object in the photo has to be moving and the background blurred. ;)

Is a little bit of photoshopping allowed?

Because with my Camera its hard to get pictures with blurred background without getting the object focussed blurred too (see my Pic above)

My question is to resize, blur the backgorund abit and change brightness via photoshop.

I personally think that this rule of "Your photo must be taken after the contest has started" should be removed as this theme is slightly hard imo and taking this away would make it easier. I'm sure many people are with me on this.

I'm inclinded to agree with you, there's no way I'll be able to get a decent panning shot in a week with my camera. However, I have a fair amount of panning shots taken recently which I won't be able to enter.

For 1000th time, that's not the point of it, you have a week = 7 days x 24 hours = 168 hours to take just one photo, just one that you'll enter with. It's not meant to be "Take the best photo of the week", it's obvious that you won't be able to make a good entry every time but you just have to face that there are rules.

The only photoshopping allowed is hue/saturation, cropping, resizing and small stuff, blurring the background is cheating imo.

I'm sorry, those are the rules, I agreed last week that the focusing on theme rules may be a bit too much, so I won't be strict on it but as for date of photo, I'm not changing that rule. And I have to say that I clearly see why Speedtouch left TDU:C, people just don't like rules, face it life is full of rules you have to follow, that are way more tougher than just a photo, so either you get a valid entry or you don't enter at all.

Same. I'd rather be able to enter a shot i took within the past 2 weeks than go out for another one, though to be fair, panning shots aren't that hard to achieve. Just sit by the roadside anywhere for an hour or so...

Same answer as above.

Not meaning to be criticising you, but you do realise that if you keep aggressively enforcing the rules, people will slowly stop bothering about the contest and eventually this will die out, right?

Yup. But of course Koen likes to enforce silly rules so it's his fault if nobody enters in the end. A great opportunity for a nice contest but silly rules have to be enforced which is a shame.

Yeah, that was my idea, taking the contest and slowly killing it  If only Speedtouch was here...

Well it seems to be your intention. But whatever, I just won't enter and i'm sure others won't because of this. You will soon see what happens when you enforce rules like these.

Also I don't see why you keep dragging ST down with this. Just forget him, he's left the forum and won't be back anytime soon. I'm fairly sure he wouldn't want to be dragged down with a petty argument though.

Also I have been looking around and all the other photography contests on the internet do not enforce rules whereby you have to take the photo after the contest is started. Thats why you get seriously good entries because the person is not pressured into taking a photo within the time limit.

This is ridiculus to be honest. It seems to me that TSS has purposefully chosen a difficult theme to try and change the rules to how he would prefer them. In my opinion this week should be changed to an open theme, so any picture you have taken this week can be entered, and then resume with the winner choosing the theme next time.
