I'll be naughty and post links to 2 videos (it would be one video if not for the 15 minute limit). I wasn't in a mad dash, but clearly faster than the other cars on the road (most were quite nice in letting me past). I was also a bit lazy going uphill by keeping it in 3rd gear most of the way (the uphill part seems to go on for ages; the summit is 2km above sea level from memory). The second video is sped up a little bit.

Never noticed it - either an Esprit or a Ferrari perhaps (puts on flame suit) ;)

Yup, it is an Esprit indeed, I'm pretty sure that's one of the Turbo's, could be even Turbo HC. Nice catch.
