You can put mods on Steam version but ...

But you can not run the game on the Steam Launcher, Launcher will have to use for mods ....

I use and how to put games on No-Steam but Steam does not show that I'm in TDU2 but using the Launcher ...

I'm sorry for thread bump but just to clarify, does that mean mods work in Steam version and also online game? I don't care if Steam friends don't see I'm in-game.

Its pretty hard to ban people with modded cars seeing as only you can see it. if you swap a.... Lotus for a lambo and take it online, to everyone else it still looks like a lotus. Only you ( or anyone else with the same mod ) will see that its really a lambo.

Most regular people who use the occasional mod almost definitely WON'T get banned. its usually people who make mods or advertise quite publicly that they mod the game are the ones that get banned. so for you guys wanting to use a car mod, you are quite safe. Hell you can even use cam hack perfectly fine. i use a quite lot of modding stuff.. Cam hack, texmod skins, indicator sound mod and car mods ( i currently have about 6 car mods installed ) the ONLY time ive had any problem was after they introduced the anti hacking measures and i ignored it. I tried to car hack one of the DLC cars i hadn't paid for.. It flashed up the " DLC HACK DETECTED" message, dumped me back to the start menu and it swapped the car i hacked for a miami mustang.. i then restarted the game, sold the mustang and carried on playing as if nothing had happened. It stopped me using dlc i hacked but still didnt ban me, it just took the dlc away from me.

They said they was gonna start banning loads of people, but they didnt. They banned a few of the really obvious ones like Mod creators ( trainer maker people and such ) other than that nobody really got banned, so i really wouldnt worry about bans, they almost never happen. EVEN if you get named and shamed on the official atari site they still ignore it.

EDIT: Also since the introduction of the latest universal launcher almost all mods that hook into the exe are undetected, or better put no more detected than they were before the anti cheat system came into play. So go ahead you are quite safe. Steam really has no relevance to banns or not, it was thought ( a long time ago ) that if you tried modding with a steam version you would get a VAC ban but tdu doesnt actually run through steam. it still uses the same launcher as the disk version, so you treat it exactly the same.

If the worst comes to the worst and you REALLY dont trust steam, do it the simple way. Download a pirate copy ( normally not recommended ) and instead of cracking the game to work, use you official serial number so its now a legit version that you can take online. I actually had to download a pirate version because my disk was corrupted, twice! i had to take it back to the store coz it wouldnt install, so they replaced it and the new disk didnt work either. so i downloaded the game but used my legit serial number on it.

If you are running windows, you can go into task manager, hit expand and it will show all items running. Start the game through Steam and kill all of the programs steam is running except for tdu2. Then use the unpack full and wait for that to finish, it has worked for me, but if you have an alternative, use that. I run both Mac and PC and by far it is easier to do on PC.
