Tutorial: How to add HQ texture skin/sticker on your car?

Recommended Posts

2. Creating HQ resolution sticker file

MY_STICK is a texture name, (mystick.2db) and right place in maps directory.

The standard sticker file size is 1024x1024 - like downloaded car templates - and have an alpha chanel. (This is an important thing.)

Convert template's alpha chanel to a vector path - i making a selection -> expand selection with few pixel -> and create a working path with 0,3 pixel precise.)

Now resize picture to 4096x4096 or 8192x8192. Use vector path to making a high resolution alpha chanel.

I dont understand this part very well.. can you tell it more easy? what i gonna do step by step in photoshop (with dds plugin) Please cause i realy want to use that and thank you for sharing stuff like this!

EDIT: I get that yellow thing, something in the alpha i am doing wrong!

1. Download a car template EXAMPLE.

2. Open photoshop, find alpha chanel and convert to a selection.

3. Expand (offset) selection - hmm.. - 4 pixxel.

4. Now convert selection to path - Make a workpath with 0,8 pixel.

5. Delete alpha chanel.

6. Now resize pics to 4096x4096.

7. Nov convert path to selection.

8. Create alpha chanel with selection, and delete unused areas on layer.

9. Design paint template whatecer you want.

10. If finish, save as DDS DXT5 ALpha 8, Generate mipmaps.

If problem with ps pulgin - use nvcompress.exe ( need save file as tga and cmd like this : nvcompress.exe -bc3 my_stick.tga).
