TDU2 DLC2 should be free or at least.....

...give one of the bikes away for free. :) (slower Ducati preferably)

Hey there, now I know many of you will be saying "duh" to this thread title and I know others will look at it and completely disregard it and go off on one about how can they support the game with no money coming in but let me explain my thinking behind this a minute before you shout at me.

Back in 2006 TDU came out for the Xbox 360 and then early 2007 the PC got to savour the delights that we console players had been shouting and praising (as well as moaning about) the last few months and despite the problems the game was still fun to play. The reason was not only the wide open expansive area of O'ahu but also the difference between the cars and bikes available. One of the things that always popped up on communities and the official forums was how to find and locate all the car dealers so that the bikes could then be unlocked. And despite their handling and of course the cardinal sin of a reverse gear a number of people developed a fondness for the bikes due to the first-person views and the insane sense of speed when zipping through traffic that it brought. Not to mention the areas you could jump into and also the fact that hitting an oncoming car launched you high in the sky giving you a great picture for your album. And believe it or not there was a number of folk who bought TDU due to the bikes, people even asking if their was a "quick" way to unlock them without having to drive around and find all the dealers as all they wanted to do was cruise the island at high speed on 2 wheels.

Now we're here at TDU2 and bikes were omitted, but they were said to be coming shortly after release and if anyone remembers the article from that one magazine where there was actually a quote that the bikes were being worked on now, and of course the info and pics I found last month that showed some of the bike DLC had been produced by someone who finished at Eden as far back as July 2011 then it's clear bikes were well indeed on their way! Don't think that's all of it though as recent discoveries showed someone who worked on Bike DLC left in January this year too so don't use that as an argument to why we don't have bikes yet.

I've veered off somewhat but anyway here is why I say DLC2 should be free. Many of us want to enjoy this game and a few of us have maybe even sold it and are waiting for something to bring us back to it, well if the fixes of DLC2 are enough to do that then fair enough but think how many of those dismayed bikers who gave up on the game would come back if the bikes were free for them and not only that but the people Atari angered by not having a single modern Corvette would possibly jump back in with the prospect of a (decent sounding) Corvette ZR-1 to get their hands on. Then you have the Ferrari Tifosi being able to get their hands on not only the insane 599XX but also the F40, a car so revered as the best Ferrari ever that you would expect many people to clamber to raise the money to be able to buy it even though it suffers some dreadful turbo lag. In fact if TDU is anything to go by, a many number of people really love to drive their F40's. Especially if it's followed around by an XJ220 or McLaren F1. :cheeky: *wishes* :duck:

So let's be positive and say the fixes sort out most of the wheel issues the more dedicated to immersion players want and that the driving feel returns to TDU2, couple that with these new cars and bikes and you would see TDU2 sell again. Put a price on it and remember TDU2 itself can be had in some places for less than £/€/$10 and you will have people 'wait and see' what others say before taking the plunge, of course those without the game will still wait but they would be more inclined to accept what is provided seeing as it's free.

When you take into account that TDU2 has been out nearly 14 months and the whole debacle that we the community and players have had to go through, and the fact that the servers and Casino don't exactly play nice, and that there are so many issues compared to TDU, and that even with all this time passed we have had only the 1 DLC!! It seems absurd to ask for money before the main areas are tackled, granted the new cheat policing looks promising and I really do hope the upcoming fixes do make the game a much more enjoyable experience but Atari we really need to hear what plans you have for TDU2 as DLC2 could simply be a toe in the water to gauge what the support should be from this moment onwards. Is it a case of get DLC2 out the door and forget about TDU2 from then on in? Is the Auction House still planned for the future? Do you have plans to use those cars that RABCAT made for you? Do you not think it stupid to have cars on the disk that just lie there not being used such as the Hot Rod or even the other Pursuit cars? Come on use your grey matter and think, these things can all add up to that little bit more respect towards you and the game and in turn result in people more likely to purchase DLC in the future. However they need to see respect from you towards them as frankly you are at the lowest you can possibly be anyway, so it's not going to take much to get you climbing up the ladder again is it?

Work on your communication first and foremost and start listening to what your players and community are saying as even though you have screwed us over the last year we are still here, and the only reason we are is because we hope that you can actually realise the potential of the game and series you have in front of you and we are here waiting for that to happen and if/when it does we are here with our money ready to hand it over. We're passionate but not stupid, it's up to you to take advantage of our crazy patience but for damn sure it won't last much longer ESPECIALLY if you don't start telling us what's happening.

Now move your arse! :bunny:

hell yeah it should be free. I think ANY dlc should be free. After all people have paid for the 'full game' especially in the case of TDU2.

It's this ridiculous trend of DLC's in the recent years , making me really annoyed.

Why has it become acceptable that we cannot have the full content when we buy the *full* game but actually have to wait and spend some more money on DLC or in this case wait for patches to get the game fixed.

It's not how it used to be.

Compared to how it used to be people now get bored with the vanilla offerings after about 2 months. I agree with you though with the whole Day 1 DLC thing and having unlockable's on the disc however I also understand that sometimes in order to cater to your playerbase with new content that work on DLC has to start before the game is out which I am fine with as long as it's totally new content. The main issue with unlockables is people just hack them even if only to use offline and if they can use them online then it's even worse as word spreads that this can be done and even more do it.

So DLC is fine as long as it provides extra content and longevity to the game. Look at GT5 and how they provide newly announced or released cars as a good example and then to Battlefield 3 as to how people complain about the times between DLC releases despite their DLC being rather good. You could think that they can't win either way but actually they can as long as they first of all don't remove things from the game to sell after or put it on the disc requiring an unlock and secondly, work on new EXTRA content shortly before the games release and return after the break to work some more.

For the current state of DLC crapness though, you can easily blame Microsoft as they hate things given away for free.

Oh yeah I agree on new content but I look at them as a part of the service, as an update.

If I have to purchase them adding to the cost of the actual game then it becomes another thing.

don't get me wrong for something like 'megapack' you would remember from TDU1's pc version I'd happily pay for that because it's worth it.

But nowadays people are just charging left right and center for a potato.

Or something that should already be in the game in the first place.

Like the bikes.

I bought all the DLC cars and in last year april/may and left ~900 ATARI token - and i was very happy when first hear EXPLO dlc pack. Explo DLC released on summer and i ONCE - just again: O N C E - drove a ZR1 or Black Mercedes in golden bomb missions and never again. I can't buy these cars, because DLC2 is coming, bike is coming and other similar sh*ts is coming: like ATARI,PATCHA, or Privileges clothes. (I was very tired when made the HIDDEN CLOTHES videos, but i think don't be hard find some "new" furnitures, what coming is with next DLC.)

Now what I think about ATARI and EDEN?

This is an evil combo. An dumbass company with a liar, lame "developer" team. We reported a frondtend bug - users can accidentaly mixing the crc's results - send tickets, private messages on official forum, demonstration video with precise instructions how triggered the bug and and nothing happened. Since then, I know no nothing developer team - did you notice that they never say names, just faceless nicknames? (eg. Jean-luck Hardass - main developer instead of Mattlab) - because no one does anything. The official forum using this devtracker.gif icon, and very ridiculous how there never write a real developer except when he organized a strike.

I laughed out loud when I used the reported frontend bug and buy first Hawaii t-shirts and Beta Jackets.

:fp:

As long as the people working on fixing TDU2 are the same people who made TDU2 we're gonna have issues.
