Hi Beav

Game is still in development. We all joined by paying a one time fee (similar to kickstarter, different price points give you different access and perks), to help the devs reach the required amount. That amount was reached in November 2012 (the project originally opened in October 2011) which means there is no more need for extra money, and no-one else can join.

However

Slightly Mad Studios intend to build pCARS for PS4 and Xbone which will require more funding (they are already registered PS4 developers and have the dev kit and APIs). Once Ian works out all the legal and fiscal details community funding will open again, where people can invest in the game for those 2 consoles. While they won't receive any profits for the original 4 platforms (and vice versa) they will still get forum access and access to PC dev builds. When this happens I'll probably post something about it on the homepage.

The final game is expected on the original 4 platforms (PC, Wii U, X360, PS3) early 2014 for around $60 (not finalised). We can afford to be cheaper since there isn't any EA or Atari style publishers who will take the majority of the profits (we the community do that, while SMS get 30% plus returns on their additional investment instead of a traditional flat fee paid by the publisher).

Check out the pCARS thread in the Green Room - Ben Collins (sacked Stig) posted some great feedback on the Formula 1 handling there.

That Bilstein livery is wrong, can easily be fixed though. I believe that who made it didn't know that it's possible to remove the carbon texture where you want.

But that is a great advantage of computer games over consoles, the livery editing is MUCH better, since there is always a way to export it and work on Photoshop.

Something I have been wondering is are all the liveries currently in the game final? I've seen quite a few made by just a few guys, with just a member/senior status. Though it was only Managers who could have liveries in the final product?

The game is community assisted - those members have been assisting the devs with making generic liveries.

The Manager perk allows you to bring your own real life brand/logo into the game.

'Those few' photoshop experts have also been assisting the managers in making their car liveries. They're happy to do it since it gets their work out there, makes the game they care about look good, and may create job opportunities. 2 members have already been formally hired by SMS.
