Trip report. Buenos Aires - Rosario

Today's flight is short, a 1 hr hop to Rosario City. We will be taking 5 people and full baggage on board. Because it's a short flight, we'll fill the tanks just to the half, more than enough! With 6 people on board plus baggage, we get closer to the MTOW, actually 400 lb below it.

Flaps, one notch. We'll be using this setting though AEP's runway is long enough (B737's operate here). A direct route from the beginning, it'll take us over Campana, Zárate and San Nicolas while Paraná River comes along us.

Once we are all aboard, and clear to push back and start from the VIP spots the journey begins.

Engine one is alive, soon after number two. A short taxi leaves us at holding point of runway 31. Even though we have tailwind, it's just 3kt well below the 10kt limit.

Soon after we are airborne, leaving Argentina's main city.

On our right hand River Plate's delta. We can see below the coast of San Fernando and Tigre. That's where all sport boats are, beautiful place ;). Far away we can see Paraná River.

Climbing to cruise, passengers enjoy the landscape... Quite boring as it is very flat, but the river adds some charm to it.

Right below us, Campana. We are getting closer to the state limit with Santa Fe.

Right hand, Paraná River.

We start descending to 2300ft, following IAC N°2. This chart describes a 12nm DME arc, until we intercept runway 19 localizer. Once again we'll have tailwind, but it's 6kt so no problem.

While we descend we can see Rosario City and its harbour.

Thanks to the DME arc we get a great view of the city. You can clearly see the riviera, the docks and Flag Memorial (that boat-shaped thing with the Argentinean Flag).

Soon after we intercept the localizer and we are on final approach. The approach was smooth and great, but on the short final the plane "inflated" so we had to push down quite heavily, and we got a not-so-hard landing. Next time I'll be more careful on the winds...

Landing roll was fast as we had to vacate the runway for a Dash8 that had to take off. We get to platform quickly, shut the engines down and then we go to the city to drink a coffee while we see the most beautiful Argentinean women. (It's known here that Rosarian girls are really pretty, and it's true :P )

Hey Kaoclya, I'm flying on IVAO, couldn't make VATSIM work...

Yeah, I'm sure there'd be an Argentinean registered C90 on AVSIM, I'm just too lazy to search. Besides, there are North American-Registered planes flying here, and I tell you this because I've seen them and I heard them on the radio while flying ;)

Regards and thanks for reading!

Yea, I know what you mean with the registration. I am a pilot in real life and just on the far left of the general aviation ramp at my airport there is a Swedish registered Piper Arrow. It's just uncommon for me to see aircraft not using an N#.

As it is uncommon to me seeing planes with other reg. than LV-***

Good to hear there's another Pilot on the forum, do you hold a PPL?

Yes I do have my PPL, I am also a flight instructor and I teach others for their pilots licence. Most of our planes are really old 1980's Cessna 172's. I also teach people how to fly in IFR.

Wow great! I'm just a private pilot with 43hr on a 1972 C150 Aerobat. I'd like to fly a C172 or an Archer...

I started to take flying lessons when I lived in Maine at 18 years old in "Cessna Triple Niner One Seven" a Cessna 172P. I try to stay away from flying Cessna 150s, 152s because I am 6' 10" inches tall and weigh 230 pounds. I always add an extra 10 knots to takeoff speed when I do fly them because I don't want to stall it and slam back on the runway because of my weight. Also the CG is thrown way off and the plane always wants to make a turn towards the right because I sit in the right seat with all the weight. (I like sitting on the right side because it's the side I instruct from even though I have to turn my head a bit to see the instruments.) I have flown a few Pipers but I am not a fan of them because I can't look down for traffic because of the wings being in the way of my view.
