Ford Patents Car to Unicycle conversion

More than a few people at Ford must have thought thought this was a good idea... good enough to patent anyway.

 

 

I have to ask though... why not use the spare wheel that's already in the boot? Which probably would handle better if it's of the space-saver variety.

Heck, why not just have a complete unicycle in the back if that's your thing?

 

Obviously, we're not likely going to see this in production for some time. If ever.

The Focus in quite some countries did not include a spare wheel unless you shouted the salesman ''spare wheel included or no deal''. Common tactic to save weight, reduce consumption and get a cheaper vehicle (although most of this ends up being theoretical gain of unnoticable scale).
