Assetto Corsa New License Announced - Porsche to come via DLC

This is awesome news for many reasons! The main one being that this hopefully means the Porsche license is finally out of the iron vice grip of EA, meaning we will see the Beetles and co coming to other titles too. :D

Will need to read up more on this and hope this is the case but if not at least it is gratifying to see Porsche in a proper simulation racer that will make good use of the brand compared to what we have seen EA do with the damn thing.

EA still have exclusive rights for Porsche :( 505Games and Kunos have a "special agreement" with Porsche for the license.

Assetto Corsa is also going to be used in Porsche race centres and for dealership events (can't do that with NFS :cheeky:) which probably helped in getting the license.

Aris from Kunos said 2016 or 2017 on Facebook. No one knows for sure though.

I think this is more a Porsche wanted a "simulation" to show off their products and they intervened and said okay to it.

Apparently AC was used on Porsche displays at the N24 and for an Ascari Resort display with a Koenigsegg test driver.

You would hope Porsche has finally wised up to the fact EA really doesn't do anything or do anything for their marque. Compared to what other series' could so, and unless EA is paying them the equivalent of what everyone else would then why do they think it's worth keeping that exclusive agreement after all this time?!

There's being loyal and then there's looking like a complete fool when it's evident the deal stinks in many ways and is seen in some respect to actually damage your brand. Wonder how RUF will do if Porsche does become available to the masses though.

:hmmm:

I've also heard rumors that Porsche are back up for grabs next year.

Bit risky using real life footage in a trailer for this game, only because you can instantly tell when it switches back to game footage. I guess some other games have spoiled us in that regard.

An image has been posted showing what will come in the first Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack and at first glance it's a bit hard to see what's so good about it.

Not because the pack is crap or anything, no not at all, but because the vehicles in the image posted by Marco Massarutto on his own Facebook are...

That price is unexpected but it is so good to see a developer set a cost that can be judged as being fair for the content being received in comparison to the full game. It also looks like Kunos and Porsche have a really good relationship going with one another which can only mean better things for the future hopefully. :)

Does this mean it was added wrongly as surely Steam must allow you to add stuff and hide it from public display or something?

And yeah I seen that hinted at on Marco's page about Laguna Seca but shortly after saying that he posted that video from Rennsport with a confirmation. He likes to be cryptic but in a fairly easily decipherable manner.
