As i said and will repeat, either we play using common sense, with a grain of salt, or we will need to have themes with thesis to describe them. And i think we should stick with the first case, since the theme is not the main thing of this competition.

Ok, just to clarify, as some of the posts here have quite an accusatory tone that can only be directed at me.

I did not seek to exploit a loophole, I just entered with a car that I consider to be British (it wasn't merely built in Dagenham) and it was after that entry that some people kicked off and inferred that some underhand crime had been committed.

Mau seemed to initially accept the entry but was later pressured to give more detailed list clarifying the rules.

Posting a shot of something different does not automatically guarantee a victory does it, as the quality and composition of the shot have an arguably bigger role to play in that decision.

In future please can these specificities be clarified in the rules before the competition goes live otherwise you'll always have someone that enters something that doesn't fit within your interpretation.

But also, if an entry is submitted the rules should not be adjusted after that... you should all be well aware how much effort goes into producing theses shots and should understand the frustration of having to go though it all again... because of something that should have been in the rules right from the beginning.

You are completely right Tim and it is why from now on I will aim to make sure that the theme is fairly clear in what it's looking for so this doesn't keep happening. I can understand why people brought it up and it is a shame cause your shot is a damn nice one. But at the same time I can see how people could flaunt it and basically post any car that is seen to be British which would open up a whole world of brain pain. :derp:

I appreciate your understanding though, shows your good character that, and like I said we'll make sure things like this do not happen as it takes away the fun of what this contest is meant to be.

Even after all our time, it's never too late to learn new things. :D

As I said, I found it original. But then complaints started, and I went for "British manufacturers" to avoid all of this we are having now. Anyways, next time let's be less broader.

I feel like at the end of the day, when a theme is announced, you follow that theme. And it's up to the person who created the theme in the first place to be as specific as possible to prevent any entry issues. It's also the participants job to not try and exploit anything written by the theme creator. We're adults here, most of us anyway.. if I were in Mau's shoes and someone entered a Ford Escort, I'd allow it because it's not technically a loophole, I think in general we should all either decide to be SUPER specific or just loosen up if someone enters something off the wall.

I upset a few people last week entering a shot from GTA, but it was within the theme regulations, so I see no need to get worked up over anyone's entry unless we're going to have extremely specific standards for entering a photo.

Kthx
