Microsoft Paint to be killed off after 32 years

Recommended Posts

Update: Paint is only being retired not terminated

MS Paint is here to stay - Windows Experience Blog

Original Post

Microsoft is set to kill off the iconic Paint program that has been a staple of every Windows and is much loved (but hardly ever used) in the Autumn/Fall Windows 10 update. Chances are you have used it, either to paste a print screen or maybe involuntarily as it opened when you clicked to view an image and the program had decided to take over as the one used for that file type.

Now Microsoft has announced that, alongside Outlook Express, Reader app and Reading list, Microsoft Paint has been signalled for death having been added to the “features that are removed or deprecated in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update”

Windows won't be left without a paint program though, the introducion of Paint 3D in the Creators Update that recently started rolling out takes over the pedestal that old timey Paint did

This is sad, why can't they just keep it? I can't imagine it is resource-heavy or takes too much effort to keep working :(

I haven't really used a windows system at home in about 7-8 years, and I suppose at work no one has time to use paint
