TDU crash on startup

Had TDU installed forever, always worked fine. Only now it inexplicably won't start. Window opens, black screen, then it closes and that's all I get

Tried deleting the documents folder, the programdata folder, tried deleting and altering the registry entries, tried some d3d9.dll meme from here, tried reinstalling the game entirely. It just doesn't work. I don't update Windows so that wont have changed anything. Nothing has changed since I last ran the game. I don't get it. Where do I even start?

It doesn't help all the threads here on it have been deleted and the ones remaining are literally just "edit: nvm guys fixed it ;)" . PCGW has it under "issues unresolved" but that isnt very helpful.

i had trouble with this file also. i think that it was about wrong DirectX version. Maybe it needs version 9, not 10 not 11... It is old game. Check if you can downgrade it. Note that some graphic cards require direct X higher than 9, so this can be big annoyance where you need to get an old computer with older graphic card and older system, just for gaming old games 😉

Also check following TDU1 tutorails, some talks about d3d9 file:
