TDU1 - can't start first race (Steam Deck)

I have managed to get the game working using a legit CD copy, running the game via lutris and applying the TDU platinum files aside from the main Euro and Mods folders because I want to keep the game as stock as possible. However for some reason I can't start the first race after buying my first car. It seems to be stuck and clicking start doesn't seem to do anything. Does anyone have an idea what it might be?

try to enable compatibility mode or check the updates for your Steam Deck.
