Troubleshooting TDU2 issues

This guide aims to resolve several issues people tend to have when trying to play Test Drive Unlimited 2 online, and is a reflection of the FAQ available on the TDU World Website.

TDU2 Black Screen, Crash on Load, Error on Load
This is an issue with your game installation.
First, make sure none of the files in the game's installation folder are set to read only.
You can do this by selecting them all, right clicking, then pressing properties, at the bottom, Read Only should not be ticked, grey or semi ticked.

If you're using any custom mods, it's recommended to completely remove them, then try running the Vanilla game.
If running vanilla doesn't work either, completely uninstall TDU2, and make sure the game folder is EMPTY before reinstalling to start fresh.
(Mods don't always remove themselves, especially if you extracted custom mods)

Common causes of this issue are:
Prerequisites not installed
(They're in a folder called "Redist" in the game folder if you need them)

Broken Game Mods
Packed Mods are generally recommended, Unpacking can make the game unstable, therefore we recommend installing only mods we approve in the Mod Manager!
(TDUVPE Editing, .CPR File Editing, etc is NOT supported by TDU World)

TDU2 Map Crash Fix (GPU FIX)

This issue is due to a bug/oversight in the game code.
TDU World has released a Map Crash Fix which resolves issues with Nvidia RTX GPUs, GTX 16xx series and some newer AMD GPUs.
The Mod Engine is available in the Mod Manager under "Patches" and is optional.
Once installed, the Map Crash Fix is enabled by default, but can be toggled in game if you want to verify it's working.

My Controller/Steering Wheel doesn't work!
TDU2 generally supports most Xbox compatible controllers, if you're using Playstation 4/5 Controllers you may need custom software.
Steering Wheels are generally supported up to 360 degrees, but may need to be mapped manually.
You can map controller buttons by going to the Controller Settings in game.

Login issues/No players in free roam, others
