The Saloon term for a car has been around longer than Sedan, Sedan fits the American accent better than saloon but note iirc only the USA says Sedan, Canada does say both though.

He was being sarcastic KTF, note the laughing smilie and all he's saying is essentially what you said, Americans say some things differently to the English meaning resulting in a sort of American-English cross language that's been created.

 

How is what he said different to the Saloon and the Sedan images being posted in jest different to what he said again in jest? :D

Having a 'but' is essentially a means of saying thanks, but no thanks. No biggie though, just remember it's hard to figure out a tone via reading lines of text you idiot. See how do you know I'm joking or being serious there? I'm joking of course, and even using a smilie can make the tone redundant if the context that was previous to it doesn't warrant it.

 

Play nice now or I will run you over with a giant frying pan shaped frying pan.

either if its called the sedan or the saloon its still the same thing, even if I called it a cheesecake or a frankenstein monster it would still be the same thing ;)
