Everyone here has lived through the nineties (unless erm you're younger than 14 years old), and the nineties were ever such a long time away, so how about we do some reminiscing. Don't worry about which ones were the best (for now... we can do a poll later), just try to think of ones the rest of us may have forgotten. Make sure you include at least one ridiculous entry (ther more the better, there's plenty to choose from) :D Remember the 'max 3 embedded videos per post' rule too. Also don't anyone post scatman so that J can do it ;) Towards the late 90's we used to record the 'Video Hits' TV show to VCR, then play back the VHS tape and record our favourites to cassette so that we could listen to them in the car.... to think that nowadays you can ID (Shazam/SoundHound) and download/stream a new song on your phone within seconds. Picking it up later this afternoon. As they're putting two new tyres on it I'm not holding out for two new Continentals, in fact I'll be impressed it they've put Avon tyres on it. If it does have two Continentals on it they'll obviously be part-worn tyres. Not too bothered really (as long as they aren't Ling-Longs), I'll still use them and then probably put Goodyear Eagle F1s on it at some point. Might try and get a video of some description up about it, but the weather is meant to be diabolical this weekend so I won't even be able to clean the car. To throw a spanner in the works for this thread (and no I'm not joking, I'm 100% serious) my mum text me today to say she has put a deposit down on a MK7 Golf GT TDI :p

I'd change it to "You cannot vote for yourself". Modal verbs for non-native English speakers can be sometimes confusing - or at least they are for me.

It isn't, but if English isn't your native language it can be confusing. As he pointed out, "may" in any other context can be either affirmative or negative (right?) so maybe it should be rephrased.

How is "may not" any different to "must not" in the context of 'The Rules'?
