tbc: 'the banner contest' #85 - Get on our banner! | WINNERS: hassan1995 / Rassva
Milli and 2 others reacted to Paladin Skylark for a topic
I feel like at the end of the day, when a theme is announced, you follow that theme. And it's up to the person who created the theme in the first place to be as specific as possible to prevent any entry issues. It's also the participants job to not try and exploit anything written by the theme creator. We're adults here, most of us anyway.. if I were in Mau's shoes and someone entered a Ford Escort, I'd allow it because it's not technically a loophole, I think in general we should all either decide to be SUPER specific or just loosen up if someone enters something off the wall. I upset a few people last week entering a shot from GTA, but it was within the theme regulations, so I see no need to get worked up over anyone's entry unless we're going to have extremely specific standards for entering a photo. Kthx3 points -
Ok, just to clarify, as some of the posts here have quite an accusatory tone that can only be directed at me. I did not seek to exploit a loophole, I just entered with a car that I consider to be British (it wasn't merely built in Dagenham) and it was after that entry that some people kicked off and inferred that some underhand crime had been committed. Mau seemed to initially accept the entry but was later pressured to give more detailed list clarifying the rules. Posting a shot of something different does not automatically guarantee a victory does it, as the quality and composition of the shot have an arguably bigger role to play in that decision. In future please can these specificities be clarified in the rules before the competition goes live otherwise you'll always have someone that enters something that doesn't fit within your interpretation. But also, if an entry is submitted the rules should not be adjusted after that... you should all be well aware how much effort goes into producing theses shots and should understand the frustration of having to go though it all again... because of something that should have been in the rules right from the beginning. :happyroll:3 points

McLaren has been working with BMW in the past. Which means McLaren is technically German. I'd disallow it. :P2 points -

I genuinely can't see what's so hard about following the rules, like come on guys it's you lot blowing things out of proportion, can't we have one simple happy competition.2 points -
For me it's the Lamborghini LP570-4, just the entire package of that car imo is the best so far.2 points

The LP570-4/LP700-4 lambos, The Agera R and 911 GT3, Vanquish by Star and the Holy Trinity of Hypercars are by far the best additions ever. The models are just perfect. They beat all the in-game models' details.1 point

ford hq atm : also @skylark, people have been entering with GTA shots for several weeks.1 point -
It's an IK issue. You could try using "Default Bike" IK, but if it doesn't solve anything, in TDU PE, you can change the seatbelt type to "Standard Seatbelt". It would make the seatbelt being only in the waist.1 point

We'll make sure next week's contest is a lighthearted fun for all the family style contest :nods: Well now that we've all come to an agreement and flogged this horse to death, let's get those entries in :D1 point -
As I said, I found it original. But then complaints started, and I went for "British manufacturers" to avoid all of this we are having now. Anyways, next time let's be less broader.1 point

I still think it's easier to ask people to actually chill about this. Come on guys, do we really need to be this picky? You're such a rare breed.1 point

You are completely right Tim and it is why from now on I will aim to make sure that the theme is fairly clear in what it's looking for so this doesn't keep happening. I can understand why people brought it up and it is a shame cause your shot is a damn nice one. But at the same time I can see how people could flaunt it and basically post any car that is seen to be British which would open up a whole world of brain pain. :derp: I appreciate your understanding though, shows your good character that, and like I said we'll make sure things like this do not happen as it takes away the fun of what this contest is meant to be. Even after all our time, it's never too late to learn new things. :D1 point

The Escort is fine, imo.1 point

I have updated the theme to be British Manufacturers as that is what the original intention was. Unfortunately it's too easy for people to make their own conclusions and that is of no fault to them, it's the way the mind works after all. We do however need to start being somewhat clearer on what the theme expects, so that we can stop having these back and forths. And before anyone kicks off the whole 'Blah is owned by X', look at the little descriptor by mau below it.1 point
-
btw free rep to anyone who manages to get a photo matching that fake theme :D1 point
-
is't that the idea behind rule #1 "Stick to the implied theme (don't look for loopholes)" - we're looking for the best photo, not the best loophole. Following the theme was a suggested list of manufacturers, not models, so it's reasonable to stick to that pattern. Maybe we just need really specific themes like "orange RWD vehicles that are airborne with sunny weather and palm trees in the background" :)1 point

My favourite car is the Pagani Huayra, the only problem is the sound, it is a bit too load But keep on working this, the hole project is great1 point

Holy Crap guys... this place hasn't much. :...: I completely forgot about all the BS these comps come with.... how thoroughly disappointing. PLEASE clarify the entry restrictions first rather then in hindsight. Its already been said here that most entries here are not actually British, so I'm struggling not to feel singled out here Although you're all forgetting that no one ever votes for me anyway :lol:1 point

Indeed, playing on a shield k1 tablet and it's pretty well made. Having fun with it! I miss open world, though :)1 point
