Has Ultima Sports Ltd leaked Forza Horizon 2 for 2014?

    Ultima Leak a Forza?

We all know there has been plenty of hear-say and hints that Forza Horizon 2 is probably in development at Playground Games, from LinkedIn profiles last year and Playground themselves saying they were working on an "...exciting, unannounced project for Xbox One" the clues are all there. And now we have yet another, and also a possible release from a likely source in Ultima Sports Ltd (how often do car makers leak this stuff?), who via a post on their Facebook - which has since been removed - have announced that they can't 'stop smiling and twerking' (may have made that up) after agreeing to a new contract with Microsoft for a "new video game to be launched later in 2014". We are assuming this to be Forza Horizon 2 and not Project Gotham Racing 5 though either would be very nice! Both would be bloody fantastic!!

Could this be about Forza Horizon 2?

With a statement of 2014 it's going to be a busy year for the racing enthusiast whatever their taste what with; The Crew, Project CARS, DRIVECLUB, BeamNG DRIVE, Assetto Corsa, [the next] Need for Speed and now Forza Horizon 2 it is most definitely a good time to be a fan of the racing genre. The matter of Horizon 2 no doubt being exclusive to Xbox One also raises the fact that it could well be a system seller - Microsoft are obviously pinning their hopes on Titanfall doing that after splashing the cash to 'money hat' exclusivity to the Xbox consoles and PC - as there's many a people out there who like nothing less than the glorious visuals of a racer to sway them into buying new hardware.

Could the end of 2014 see a bit of a skirmish between Horizon 2 and The Crew? Well at least on Xbox One it certainly looks like it could be.

Instead of working on another 'Horizon', Microsoft, not Playground games, should spend more time improving 'Forza 5' on the Xbox One!

The reason why I say Microsoft instead of Playground Games is because Microsoft are the ones that help fund these games and pretty much dictate to the software companies on how they want the game to run, and how they're going to implement DLC's so Microsoft can make a sh.t load of money tearing our wallets apart!

What's the point making another open world racing game like Horizon, when 'The Crew' is coming out soon, and without a doubt it will be difficult for other software companies to make a game that will be better than 'The Crew', let alone be on par with it!

Not only that, to make a game equivalent to 'The Crew', it would be a complete waste of money since you don't need a game that is going to be similar to 'The Crew', when they would be better off investing the money on fixing 'Forza 5' or developing 'Forza 6'!

I would prefer them to spend the money on fixing the limited features that are currently in 'Forza 5'!

E.g. Not enough tracks, cars, no weather changes, no night and day cycle, limited racing features, no auction house that was in 'Forza 4' etc.

There is only a few racing sims out there that allow you to manually select the AI cars you wish to race against, and this is what I'd like to see in 'Forza 6' and 'Auto Club Revolution'!

Assetto Corsa is great example, where you can selecting how many cars and specifically what manufacturers models you wish to race against!

As an avid racing sim player, instead of these companies like playground games and Turn 10 bringing out new versions of these racers every year, why don't they get their act together, as well as Microsoft since they want to make a lot of money through micro transactions selling DLC's etc from these games, do what the guys at 'Auto Club Revolution', 'Project Games' (When it comes out this year in Fall) and the 'IRacing guys' are doing, where they have the one game that is constantly getting updated with new cars, tracks and other enhancements, and customers don't have to pay for the game, they only pay for the DLC's they want, or they pay a monthly, quarterly, half year or full year subscription which gives them access to all cars and tracks!

I've got a feeling Microsoft could afford to do both if they wanted. I'll let them off this time since most of us don't have the new consoles yet but if Dan wants to talk about Forza being a simulation then the next version better have rain/dynamic weather/ToD, pit stops, and a proper (optional) racing driver career instead of just randomly being told to do this race, then do this race, then do this one, etc. I can't see myself getting back into Forza for a few years though, which is fine given the smorgasbord of other options available.

I would've disagreed with you several months ago, but you're right when you said "there are a smorgasbord of options" other than the Forza franchise!

I discovered this after purchasing Assetto Corsa, downloading Auto Club Revolution and the one game I'm very keen on getting when it comes out in Fall, is Project Cars.

There are so many great racing simulators coming out or will be released as final versions in 2014, and I think this year is definitely going to be a huge year for car racing / car simulators in general!

I only purchased the Xbox One for Forza 5, and even though the graphics, physics and the fact that the cars are rendered in spectacular detail is enough for anyone who loves car racing as much as me to purchase and Xbox One for Forza 5, as I mentioned above there were holes left in the game's features that were a huge disappointment for a lot of Forza fans!

In saying that, it is still a great game, but definitely not worth unless you're a true racing sim freak like myself, who's willing to spend $700 Australian dollars on a console just for one racing game!

After all the criticism Turn 10 had received by the Forza community in regards to what they should've done in the game, and for the features that were left out, I'm sure the next version will be a huge improvement!

It will have to be a huge improvement if they're to compete with Mad Dogs 'Project Cars' which is not only available on PC, but will be available on the Xbox One and PS4 as well!
