  2. Hey do you have a version in which you increase shadow distance but don't decrease close shadow's resolution? I would like to try if it gets much slower. I'm not sure if the game uses cascaded shadow maps. (In some games you can see a kind of "shadow clipping". When distant shadows seem to change sharper from blurry as you approach. ) If TDU works like this, It shouldn't be a problem. But I'm really curious how it would work. If it gets too slow I can still turn off antialiasing. By the way I can confirm: This mod doesn't corrupt your savegames. I always keep a backup anyway, but I've tried it and it just works fine. I would have liked to edit this file myself but as I see you can only work with a HEX editor on this file, it's not just a simple text format. Too bad.
  3. Wow I really like the concept of this mod. I'll try it shortly. The game runs smooth only when I have env details on HIGH. Only a few distant objects missing that's not a problem, but I was always annoyed by shadows appearing so close. By the way. A little technical question: Have you realized that the normalmaps are only working in sunlight and not with the headlights of your car:? It's really annoying that the headlights of your car don't generate "shadows" on the ground, so normalmaps of the textures are not affected by the headlight. The textures simply get lighter only. In NFS Hot pursuit it looks really fine when your headlight beams hit the road and you can see the surface's shadows on asphalt and ground. I hope you understand me and know what a normalmap is... Just wondering if this can be ever fixed or modded.
  4. Is there a way to edit the radio stations so that the annoying announcers cannot be heard? I guess you'd need a bigfile editor for that.

  6. Hmm, yes I understand your point and I also think a TDU winter mod was a fun idea, (I've seen some videos of it) but I don't like ruining the already perfect work of the developers. And TDU is TDU because of Hawaii. That's why I loved this HD mod. It only extends the original graphics' quality.

  8. ILLUSION, don't you think that the black distant mipmaps are caused by the DDS file you imported has no mipmaps generated? If you set Anisotropic filtering to 16 you just make it look sharper in the distance, that's not a real solution. I would say it's a texture problem. (Look who speaks, who cannot even import a single texture :P )
  9. :) True! But that would be quite complex as there are 2 factors to be considered: 1. I think Geometry detail cannot be changed. (It looks quite lame when far away coastline is only a few polygons, or far away mountains are simple triangles.) But I guess the island is divided up to different sections (or "levels" if you like) that are loaded in real time when you get near them and these cannot be just set visible by distance view setup. 2. And distance map texture quality. (Maybe this can be updated with higher resolution map textures somehow) Anyway it's a very nice mod, I like that the "uninstall" feature is also implemented, however I don't understand the description: SD = all the the objects appears more far as possible in the level of details "medium", or their only one level of details in the case there is not other (levels of detail "low" disappears). LOL WUT? I cannot comprehend it.
  10. I've tried the Tropical Paradise mod and I've read you implemented some stuff from there, that's where I got my assumption. I've already downloaded yours, just need to find out which files to backup before installing it. :) As a first step I was trying to exchange the detail texture on rocks to a different one, but so far, I got a plain brown texture on it instead, no matter which DXT compression I used. I can't seem to find the correct format. So annoying. :)
  11. Why is that every modder gets into the trap of exaggeration? This is not realistic anymore. Everything is TOO green and TOO colourful as if I was playing Serious Sam. I guess you should have cut back on saturation on textures a little bit. I would be happy with a mod that simply adds everything in higher resolution with the same color palette and doesn't overdo the effects. Is it only with the screenshots? The video looks better though.
  12. Hello, I have a problem with texture import. I want to add a detail texture to rocks. I save my DDS file with nvidia's dds plugin for paint shop pro then I convert dds to 2db with TDUMT then Iimport the 2db to the commonworld.BNK file. The result is a plain brown texture.
