    You should know that the game actually has a Focus SVT, not a Fiesta.

    Ah yes Milli that was the one, the Focus SVT. I think there is another hatchback Ford (Focus also or a Fiesta or something like them?) elsewhere in the game also. The starting Focus SVT is 'close enough' for me and my 6 year old boy to 'get into' the awesome mod you all made 🙂

    You know cars? What is that bit that looks like it is missing? I guess it might be the same for many modern cars?

  2. Hi guys. I'm after some general car knowledge. I'm been trying to adjust the settings for the Ford Fiesta SVT (i think it is that one, you can get it as a starting car in one of main game start garages you go to to pick your car).

    Then i decided to look at my own Ford Fiesta Ecoboost 1.0L and flipped the bonnet to look inside (bear with me!). When looking into the engine compartment, i noticed on the lower left side (closet to me, rather than farther away) the situation as shown in thepicture i will upload:

    N4q4e3s.jpg

    Now should i be worried as it looks like something is missing and the orange warning triangle suggests it is important? What is it (that is missing) and can anyone give me their experienced opinion on this and what i should do (like take it to a garage and get it replaced etc).

    Odd i know but it was related to my own Fiesta i drive in game as a E class 😉

  3. iirc it is in the TDU Platinum 1.0\Test Drive Unlimited folder you would have downloaded to install the mod from (you can look through the mod folder to find it).

    Follow closely the video guides to ensure you have installed everything where it should be (in short in the main game directory as per usual for any other game). You should have the d3d9.dll file there if you installed correctly.

    In the main menu screen, it reads as v0.03a, I dragged and dropped everything from the "Test Drive Unlimited" folder into the main game's directory, I load the game via the Project Paradise Launcher (also as an admin), I check Big .bnk, I cleared every save, I've also installed it on the C : drive, still the same issue. Once I buy a rented "invisible" car, the game crashes.

    Do you think using a savefile would help, although it being heavily discouraged?

    Edit: What I've noticed is that even with VSync enabled, I receive around 120 FPS in the rent a car dealership, whereas I get around 60 FPS during cutscenes. I've tried limiting the FPS with RTSS and NVIDIA Control Panel, none of them worked... 😞

    Don't run it with RTSS running, i've had that cause problems before (it 'clashes' with the project paradise launcher i think). 120 fps in the 'shops' is fine, as is 60fps in game when using Vsync from the project paradise launcher, it's working ok.

    However i'd suggest you might be looking to do a complete reinstall from scratch and follow closely the video guide at the start of this thread. I also have the retail disk and following that video guide 'exactly' helped me to get it to run fine. I did install outside of the C: drive and 'Program Files' though to avoid any potential admin access issues from that. My game is on E:\\Games\Atari etc.

    Hey!

    It seems like you've messed around with the weathers, because what you're seeing is the moon, but as a sun flare. I think it was "sun_A" that I replaced for the moon. To fix it, go to the TDU Directory/Euro/Bnk/FX/ and open Weather or Weather_HDRI (for HDR) and find these lines

    SUNHALO2DB = "sun_A"

    The halo is the sun flares that come out of the sun when you look at it. It seems like you've made your halo - the moon. On the weathers that you're using, replace "sun_A" with "sun_M" or "sun_I" depending on your preferences. If this doesn't work, just reapply the whole mod, something must have messed up in one way or another. Your HDR seems broken as well, because the sky is completely white, which I made sure never happens.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Kristiann 🙂

    I just decided to look through the file and values you mentioned here. I see a couple of things that make me wonder.

    1. The very first instance of :

    SUNHALO2DB = "sun_A"

    Is right at the top of the file under WEATHERCONFIGNAME = "DEFAULT" and that has SUNHALO2DB as "sun_A" and not "sun_I". Does that need to be changed?

    Also as you go down the file the upper case characters ("sun_M" etc) become lower case characters ("sun_m" etc) so should they all be upper case or does that not matter?

    Then even further down the file (around line 774 onwards, "DRYDAY1P3" etc) you get:

    SUNCORE2DB = "sun_i"

    SUNHALO2DB = "sun_m"

    So those values have switched around from the previous entries in the file. Shoud they follow the same order so SUNHAL02DB = "sun_I"  and SUNCORE2DB = "sun_M" as before etc? or is the switch to do with twilight light changes etc?

    Also i assume you use "sun_A" as the moon in your mod, so in the 'Night' sections of this file seeing "sun_A" just means the moon texture in place of the sun?

    Just a couple of things i noticed looking through this file (and i don't think i changed much of it from the default install).

    I really enjoy the night driving (much harder) and just a shame that the game engine does not emit light from our cars headlights to illuminate the road ahead of us more. Awesome mod and very much essential for the better graphical feel it gives.

  6. Such a useful tool Djey 🙂

    I use it to adjust the 'binoculars' value in the cameras and IKs fields so that most are changed to something around 16720 so i can use the in-game seat adjustment to actually be able to use the car mirrors and have a general wider view of the road around me. Great tool and glad you are still supporting it.

    NOTE: for new users, always 'run it as administrator' so your changes get properly saved!

  7. Just to show the issue here is a pic of how the game launches using Project Paradise launcher, in terms of the game window size (even if the game resolution is set to 1600x900 in the game settings).

    My desktop is 1920x1080. The game in the background is Brigador and that launches as a 1600x900 window. Then when i click 'Start' in the Project Paradise launcher i get that game window for TDU which i guess is about 1024x768 or something like that.

    I then have to use the windows key to get out the TDU game window and fiddle around and stretch the TDU launch screen so it fits exactly to match that background Brigador game (1600x900). Then i quit that Brigador game and to be 100% sure i'm not a few pixels out i need to record a few seconds of footage, and maybe further adjust the TDU screen until it is perfectly 1600x900.

    I'm looking for a way to launch TDU from the Project Paradise Launcher so that initial TDU screen is 1600x900 (so it launches like that Brigador screen) and not the default window you see in the screenshot. I hope this is more clear now 🙂

  8. So i mentioned the class E Jaguar XK coupe as my 'new' favourite car in that class (it could change!). Well i do love everything about it except one thing The rear view mirror is set wrong, See the pic below. The 'green dot' is the good working as intended wing mirror. The 'red dot' is the broken rear view mirror that seems to be angled too low at the road behind the car and not the distance on the horizon.

    Any idea's on how we can change this kind of error (there are numerous cars with these kind of mirror faults)? Can we tweak some camera variables in TDUF or does it require another method?

    I'm trying out the Jaguar XK Coupe currently. I like the looks better than the Merc and somehow it's weaker handling makes it easier to drive for me, so it's been a bit 'killer' in the E class races i've just started (i also used the tier 3 upgrade option). This might be the E class for me :)

    have update with 2018 to 2020 cars? or this is not possible?

    If you have downloaded the latest version of this mod it will come with the latest car additions.

  10. What are peoples most favourite class E car in this mod? I normally start out in an alpha (either a Brera or GT V6) as an F class, then i struggle to find that 'perfect' class E.

    Is it the Nissan (350 or 370z coupe)? I also try to upgrade all my cars at the tuners for them, so i sort of like the Merc SLK 55 AMG as it loses on handling but gets a decent top speed boost over the Nisamo tuned Nissans. Still i wonder if there are better options out there in the game i'm just failing to notice?

  11. So i use Project Paradise to get windowed mode (and 'unlock settings') to be able to get a windowed 1600x900 display within my 1920x1080 screen ( i have monitoring tools and recording software taking up the other space outside the 1600x900 TDU window).

    Is there anyway to get the Project Paradise launch window (for when you click 'Start') to open at a set resolution? It opens the TDU game screen in a window that looks about 1024x768 (basically pretty small) and i have to stretch it to make it bigger (and hope i can hit 1600x900 exactly!).

    It's rather cumbersome and not related to the resolution choice you make in the game menu. Now many games have a config file of some description where you can enter things like launch window resolution etc (Bethesda games have .ini files for this for example) and i wondered if anyone knew where that might be for the window Project Paradise launches after clicking start? Or is there another trick i could maybe use to get the windowed screen of TDU (it is the modded Platinum version) to always start at exactly 1600x900 and not the small screen i have to stretch and fiddle around with to hit an actual 1600x900 sized window?

    The system i currently use is to launch another windowed game that DOES give an exact 1600x900 windowed screen, then launch TDU (via Project Paradise) and use the windows key to get on the desktop to click-drag the TDU game screen to match the other game underneath. Then i exit the other game, record a few seconds of footage (using Dxtory) then check the recorded footage is actually 1600x900 and not for example 1598x903 etc.

    There must be a way to force the initial window that Project Paradise launches to be exactly 1600x900 (or another resolution of choice etc)?

  12. It's specific to clicking the 'offline' box in the Project Paradise launcher, rather than just not doing that but playing a 'standard' offline game (which is what i do mostly) of TDU where you just have a Profile not set up for MP (using that gamespy account thing). So there are two kinds of offline game you can play, and sadly you need to click 'offline' in the Project Paradise launcher to see the full effects of this Hawaiian Bliss mod, which then disables the 'fuel' mod (which you have in the MP or normal offline modes). I hope that clears that up ;)

    As i'm 'new' to experiencing this mods night-day cycle thing i'm currently willing to sacrifice the fuel mod just to get a feel if this is how i want to play the game etc.

    What could be happening is, if you boot up the game through the Project Paradise launcher, you have to click "Offline" if you will be playing offline. Otherwise, your weather/time gets synced to the servers and you need hours to get the 24 hours cycle on the server settings. If it is not that, check the WeatherDesc file (located in Euro/Bnk/FX), all weather effects should be there and above them is the "TimeScale" which should be set to 8. Just replace 8 with a higher number if you want days to pass faster. However, this ONLY works if you've ticked "Offline" in Project Paradise launcher. Otherwise, it syncs to server and this number does absolutely nothing. Tell me how it goes, I hope this clears it up! 😁

    Yes! Thanks that was exactly the issue. I got to experience the full day/night cycle (and win $100,000 in the 43.3 mile 'beat the clock' race in my Nissan 350-z), it was fun and the dark just at the right levels to make the later half of that race nicely challenging :)

    The only sad thing about this is by picking 'offline' in the Project Paradise launcher it seems to shut off the 'fuel' mod. It would be near pefect to have both mods work together somehow?

    Read the FAQ in the first post. TDU shows wrong speeds because of how its engine calculating it.

    Yeah. I just thought what i was seeing was a little different to that.

    Quote

    Some cars have what we call "overdrive gear". They're meant to save fuel, instead of going fast.  It's common in modern vehicles that have 7 and 8 gears, and usually american cars.  A real Corvette Z06 hits 200mph in 5th, as soon as you shift to 6th, it will lose speed.

    About tuning, changing the 0-60 time in TDUF, at the tuning part won't make any difference, but give you a placebo effect. Those values are not related to actual tuning and are there just to fill the "Data" sheetboard of the game.  What would really increase the vehicle acceleration in tuning is the Aftermarket Packs, where you increase the % of the vehicle physics data.  So, if a car has an acceleration value of 80, and the aftermarket pack says the acceleration is 4, it will increase 4% of 80.   regardless of the value set in 0-60.

    Ah thanks for those pointers Milli, most helpful 🙂

  15. I'm not sure if this relates to Platinum or is a base TDU game issue, but i've been noticing strange results after tuning some of my cars.

    For example my C-class Porsche Cayman 718 S (found in the Porsche shop in the North of the island iirc) has a reported default top speed of 246 and after tuning that becomes 276 but i just can't seem to get it to hit even 200! 6th gear slowly advances the speed from around 180, but even after searching out some long straights in the west of the island it stuggles to hit 200 either default or after being tuned?

    I have this issue on a few cars also (not all) where the reported speeds don't match the in-game speed the vehicle hits.

    Is this a case of some kind of mod issue in relation to gear ratio's perhaps being set up wrong to take into account the tuning?

    I did a little experiment and took my humble Alpha Brera apart in TDUF and adjusted the level 3 tuning characteristics to give it a bit more acceleration (5.5 instead of 6.0 in 0-60) and top end (it tops out at 191 instead of 184 now) and in game, with enough straight road i can reach those new limits. So why do some cars not seem to be able to do so? Anyone else notice this?

    Whenever I load the game and continue game I get an abnormally long loading screen. All black and doesn't go further. Can I get some help with this..?

    Have you tried creating a new profile and new game in that to see if you still get the long loading times? If they are normal in the new profile, it might be an issue with your save game? If you still have the same issue it is likely a problem with your install.
