It'd be lost here, one of them that it was funny at the time and sometimes still get's dragged up when the people who were there at the time get a reminder. So in another thread? With no reference to that how are people who diddent see the original to get that part? Not having a go, just pointing out how I came to with the "its all about German cars in here" , now that part is cleared up I understand how. :)
-
I'm not saying it's a bad car. The laugh is lost on here as none of you's would understand the long running joke I've got with the GTD. Regarding Price,, with you bringing Seat into the picture I'm just saying that VW offer there rivals for a cheaper price. With the 3 Vs. 5 Door thing, that's all personal choice in the end. - I am? First point of the thread is... Then it moves onto lots of comments talking of German cars. If the thread title was 'German Diesel Sport cars' I could understand. Just saying.
-
You answered your own question to me with that question. ;) Its not a bad car, crazy torques (380Nm if i remember for the current gen), but 5 door golfs have always looked a bit off for me since the Mk5. And why get a Golf when VAG offer there own rival, with the same engines but much cheaper!
-
So in short, you would't get a Golf full stop.
-
I agree, when I opened it I expected to see a point, but lost interest when it turned into a bunch of reading about German cars. But the fact remains, if you get a Golf GTD insted of a GTi...I'd laugh at you, even more so if its a 5 door one.

@mau92 :You are right though, as a common car in one country is miles away from in another. Also how cars are bought are different....such as most new cars bought (in the Uk, and i'd guess most of Western EU & America) arnt actually owned, but paid for on monthly finance such as HP/PCP...and most people just replace it after the contract expires. Reason why there are boatloads of German cars kicking about where I live. - Some of us do. ;) Likewise other SA only cars like the SP2. But I have a knack for wanting to know about cars the world over, as most of the stuff in Europe is dull these days.

All I can say is, Bangernomics is the way to go. Be it petrol or diesel, you can get a car that cost some sucker full price 10 - 15 years ago and cost you under £1k now, and chances are it'll last you another 50k miles(pending what car) with only basic servicing & replacing the expected wear & tear.(oil, filters, plugs, brakes, etc) and its not hard to do so you save even more cash doing it yourself. Who cares for MPG as the cars worth this side of bugger all in the eyes of alot of people. Cost too much to fix it? Scrap it and repeat. ;) A friend of the family had a old 7 series(top spec, would have cost a good fortune when new in the early 90's) that he bought for £900, lasted him 75k miles & 4 years before it kicked the bucket. We've had a few cars do the same, such as 30k in 1 & a half years in the Rover 75, sold the car on for a profit! (and the cars still on the road now!) I think I de-railed the whole diesel thing now.

Some of this is a case of TL;DR but i get the genral jist of it all, I'll throw my hat into the ring....I can guess some of you's are groaning at this due to my 'interesting' likes & dislikes of the motoring world. ;) An outright diesel sports car? Just't doesn't make me feel excited in the slightest, maybe i'm old hat in that respect. But a diesel car that's sporting? Yes. Lemme expand on that. Le-Mans...alot of people have said it's now a bit dull thanks to all the diesel-Hybrid crap, the sound of the GT1 cars was better than the diesels when they first came out. Also remember when Audi made the R8 TDi V12? It just seemed a bit pointless to me, again maybe it's just me being a bit old skool in my thinking. If your after a sports car but concerned about MPG, I think your after the wrong sort of car. And don't get me started on the (thankfully) failed attempt at making a diesel TVR. A sporting diesel? Maybe not in the way your thinking. I'm lucky to have driven a large number of cars & vans(and lorrys) and I can honestly say that I do love a nice punchy diesel. Ton's of low down torque and your laughing, be it a nice twisty road or traffic light GP. I've had some great fun in a diesel. (it's 20% cooler when it's a works van or rental car ;) )Sure the diesels I've driven were never designed to be sporty, but they sure give me bucket loads of fun as well as giving me some good MPG figures. Hell, even i'm eyeing up a few diesels for my next car. because with some basic ECU 'chipping you can get some lul crazy torques! And lets not forget that the car I idolize, my 'god car' is a deisel....Rover 75 CDT. I can tell you that was one hell of a car, but no way a sports car!

Finding a Chrysler 300C in any of my local scrappys (what i call a junk yard) would be a real challenge in the first place! I did a quick on eBay UK, and for the exact one with the bar down the middle your looking at around £115(including postage), but im guessing that's for UK postage price. Plenty of normal mesh grill's without the bar in the middle, as well as the 'Bentley' grills(with fake B badge included)

And I'm sitting here with about 200k left from when R* gave us all the free cash handout...

Not saying that it means it's a death trap, just saying that all in all an MOT is really just a bit of paper to say your car can go on the road and follows legal limits. Stuff like emissions are total collop if you ask me as a burst exhaust is't going to hurt anyone...a knackered suspension arm is. I'm lucky in that I know the guy who does my MOT's so emissions are no problem as long as there fixed by the next MOT ;) If you think that's 'bad', I know a few people who's MOT pass consisted of the car not even going to a garage, because there mate works at the garage. (thankfully, there cars are safe & solid enough), all a matter of who you know...much like me getting parts for trade price. -- I don't think I've shown shots of the 'van' yet have I?... Industrial seat covers, check. Rear space to fit stuff? Check. (managed to take all the old kitchen cabinets, dishwasher & even the kitchen sink in this thing! photo proofed as well ;) ) Industrial gloss/matte(due to age) white & unpainted bumpers, with patches of rust. Check. Did I say rust? Theres plenty of the stuff... I'm sure that's safe enough. ;) looks wise, shes a dog. Bits of surface rust in places. oh and the passenger side door was bashed some point in it's life, and insted of side trim I've got duct tape on (the trim is in the car). Mechanical wise. Perfect. 64k (miles) on the clock on it's silky smooth 1.2 petrol motor. It lacks every kind of feature im sure you's all enjoy. Rev counter, power steering, ABS. It has an Airbag...oh and a cassette player. Thing just keeps on pulling no matter what you throw at it. As well as being a van, it's a general muck about car, and going to be tracked next month at knockhill. Because Wannabe track car.

Facebook games still a thing? I though most of them had became app's in there own right now. F2P PC could work...but considering the amount of support TDU2 had....
-
So a Mobile device test Drive game. My guess it'd be like every other mobile racer out there, unless they pull a bit of magic and do a TDU: Pocket edition.
-
If I remember correctly, it's the GT86 they are doing that with in the R3 class. Won't be seeing it untill 2015 and it'll be RWD still. ;) Good that it'll be in a class with other cars, unlike the RGT class where Lotus plonked a Exige in and are the only guys in the class... - Free car a day after the official showing of it? PD you sly dog's you did it again! :)

She looks nice! Not seen any of the new MX5's in the colour before but looks sweeeet! :D

Sadly there is't a way to, just tryed now to see if you could turn them off ingame...sadly there doesn't seem to be. I just took the screenshot with the PS4's share function which just takes a screenshot(or video if you want) of whats on screen. Sadly when I upload the pictures to FB the quality is lost...big time.

They said it was going to be a launch game...well if it's out on the Japanese launch of the PS4 then they were still right. ;) Good to see it could be here quicker than expected, looks like it could be a cracker.

7 R500. That'd be nice if Forza physic's arnt still a case of every car wants to drift. (I dunno, are they?) It's a shame they are just offloading old models into the game & shouting there new and expecting you to pay for them...now *flame suit on, sits in a fire truck* GT6 has added new cars and sure they were likely to be in the code somewhere (M4, Mario Andretti's Hudson's, Vision GT, etc) but least they were free. Shame, as it'll only come back to haunt them one day.

Seeing your trip into getting a bike Ry. make me want to rekindle my fire of getting one. Something about summer cursing in a vintage styled bike is a bit of a soft spot for me. Sadly the bike I'd like i'd have to wait a few years until I'm allowed to allowed to even sit the test for it and such thanks to UK rules. Thats even if I got it restricted. One day i'll maybe get a Triumph Bonnevill. :nods: That said, the Suzuki VanVan 125 looks cool as well. And I don't think i'd need as much to get it license wise and there cheap-ish to get. Hope your happy with your bike though Ry. :D

Though i'd bring an update since the last time now its a Year & a day since we started. - 358 FaceBook likes. - Lots of car related photos thats all original content...from from the 2013 BTCC rounds at knockhill, 2013 British Drift Championship at knockhill, local car meets be it tuned cars or classic car shows, stuff from the 2013 Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show(biggest of its kind in the UK), over half of the rally's in the Scottish Rally Championship. - 2 actual car review videos, with 1 more in the pipeline. (when the other guy gets round to editing it) And 3 more planned already. So this year? Well covering most of the events we did back in 2013, as well as also the Gumball 3000 party as it roll's into Edinburgh and maybe the Britcar if we get the chance. Oh and also don't forget a trackday or two again if we get our cars sorted. So if you haven't done so, hate to seem needy but give us a check out & a like on Facebook.
-
Even with MOT's there's a high chance of them being on the road. As they say, "An MoT is only valid on the day you got it". I personally know of people running cars well over the limit for noise & emissions because come MoT day they slapped the original exhaust back on , then after they put there other one back on. Nothing bad but you see where I'm coming from.
