It's not exactly a matter of life and death, is it? I'm certain no one dedicates all their thoughts every single day to when the new CMoTW thread will be opened. Let's not pretend this is anything more than a competition on a forum.

I think it would be unfair to take away a person's chance to choose the theme just because they didn't sign in within 2 days of me sending the PM. People have lives outside of this forum. I'd say if we were to enforce a deadline to pick a theme, it would be more fair if it was closer to a week or two. Using an open theme in case of failure to submit one is a good idea though.

How much time a person takes to submit a theme doesn't depend on whether they're the winner or the runner-up. Not everyone checks the forum daily.
