Oof okay, I delayed the demo twice already, unfortunately I have to again.

Now, back when I started Project: DRIVE I was unemployed, and had a bunch of free time to work on. Since I am self employed since december, the amount of my free time drastically became smaller. Regardless of that, I worked every single minute of my free time on PD. But it wasn't as much as I expected to make a demo done till end of january lol

Anyway, I have made a lot of progress on the demo. And since I wasn't really active on the forums in the last time, I can only recomend you to check out the tduck discord with a Project: DRIVE channel, where I post all of the progress in.
https://discord.gg/pSwZSmy
Demo will be done soon, but I can't say precisely when. But it will be done soon! 😄

Quick Update: since I put in the new UI some weeks ago I reworked the whole menue ever since. Progress is great! I finally can put down a todo List what is left, sorted by order i am going to take it on.

-fix the extras-panel in the tuning menue. Its the first task as its the most complicated (after which the body tuning Panel is done)
-adapt plates Panel to new UI(after which it will be done aswell)
-adapt existing rims Panel
-add minor functionalities to rims Panel
-create UI for the wheel size menue
-create window tint panel (wont take very long as I have the Basic functionalities already coded
-create Suspension panel (going to wheels panel, will be Tricky as i need to mess around with physics)
-add and fix minor Details on UI
-Continue working on Pause menue (without settings for Demo as it would take too long to develop since i am way behind schedule already)

After that the UI is done. Everything after that are small tweaks as which:
-finish up modeling environment
-local variable transfer (savegame)
-adding actual demo version cars with tuning parts
-add some rims, Frames and other Universal tuning parts
-and maybe some small stuff i dont remember

Still, a long way to Go, but at this point the most work was already done. As far I can tell, everyone, even game Development collegues are saying the game looks great. So maybe it is :) stay tuned. Hope to have the Demo done before February.
I'm into Modeling Cars and everything that belongs to them, but recently I've also started working on world assets. When it comes to LODs UE4 has probably the industry's best auto LOD generator out there but I don't mind doing some of them by hand. I've also used some Forza models for mods so I know how to work with them and add to them in terms of tuning parts. Textures are also something I'm enjoying thanks to Substance Designer/Painter.
Oh, no I am aware of the Unreal LOD, I was just wondering if I could give this task to you hypothetically speaking when Unreal messes up somehow. :) World assets are also very welcome! In fact, for the demo level I am still missing some assets (not speaking about how incredibly basic the level is) which I always push to "another day". Textures are also really cool, I myself work with painter too, although I have no idea about designer. I sneaked a peak at Sound Forge's one, but it's a bit too complicated for me. I tend to overcomplicate the task textures very fast.
and btw may I ask if you guys have a Discord Server as that would be easier to chat, talk and share images or files?
I personally don't as I'm mostly a lone wolf on the internet and only online on forums and reddit for my gaming/modding stuff. Hell, I don't even have friends on steam lmao. But if you have one yourself, or if TDuck (@Diablo pls) have one, I would love to join!
Very cool! What are you interested most in modeling? LOD's and tuning parts for cars would be pretty cool for now. LOD's because I mostly model out the customization parts for the highpoly model, but as it's based on Forza's models, there are lods then for everything but the new parts.

Hey! Cool, happy to hear that, thanks a lot for the interest :) 3D people come quite handy as I still need a lot to model for the first cars I'm planning. Hit me up when you have free time we could chat a bit about the future and what we expect.

Just as a disclaimer tho, I wanted to make sure that everyone who is helping gets to see this:

That's a project I do in my free time, and it should be kept this way. For the other people helping me on this project, this might be a good exercise and maybe something for the portfolio later when we will release something.

In a case, when I would make a commercial project somewhen, I will hit up the Project: DRIVE people first and those projects would get paid. I am working in Video game development in real life, so it's not that unrealistic. Maybe as a motivation.

Just wanted to make that clear. I am a freelancer, therefore I always need to know the payment inbefore so that nobody gets scammed, and I don't want to scam you guys either.

Some small update. Did the majority of the work behind the scenes on the scripts.

Visual updates are mainly:
Wheel UI is in the works. Rims can now be changed outside of debug tools

And, arguably one of the most important things, functions to change paint color are now working. Finally I can preview the car in anything else than pure white:

Not much, but the paint thing is a major update. Will post more updates as soon as there are any.

TDUZoqqer got a reaction from ZoM in GTA6 leaked gameplay videos
The world woke up today expecting nothing and here we are, getting an almost hour long video leak of GTA6 gameplay and debugging, including heist gameplay, combat and movement mechanics. Definitely not expected this to happen.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbu2V2fgkXc

Seems like a quite progressed, yet ungraded and unpolished gameplay. Manily using RTX2080 and 1080 workstations. Apparently it's running on Unreal Engine and not on RAGE, yet I have to see a single trace of Unreal Engine in those videos. The console certainly looks very unfamiliar to me.

Somebody is definitely getting fired tomorrow.

E: T2 took down the video. You can find a dump of most of the clips here:

E2: T2 also took down the mega folder. Well, let's hope Reddit keeps it's pace:

If it's not the issue, it's at least one issue. No matter if there is anything else preventing you from playing online, but eitherway it wouldnt work if your profile is set to offline. So it might be the fix, yes.

In an online savegame, the game is always online. By launch, yes.

well you need to have an online savegame for it. when you just continue the savegame you had previously, its quite obvious not an online savegame. so the easiest way is to create a new savegame

or you can edit your current save file with an hex editor, which I'm not sure is worth the hustle as its super complicated

It is model related. The rotation of the needles are determined by the location of the dummys in the interior 3D model file. There is no quick way of fixing it other than trial and error, and since this is not efficient, it is not worth the time.
You have the gearing data of the real world car all over the internet. Just upgrade the OS, install TDUF or TDUPE and enter those exact values for all gears then? You cant just upgrade one gear and expect it to work. This is how gears work. Everything is connected. You have 7 gears and a final drive ratio, all those have to correspond with each other.
Again, you have no right to demand anything of a work you don't pay a dime or a second for. This is a volunteer project of some individuals doing that in their free time. You absolutely have no rights for a demand. You can request and suggest, but you can not demand anything.

And your cheat argument doesn't really grip either since vanilla players have the same issue you described then.
I already explained everything about "demanding". Milli does not have to do anything you demand, and you should not expect your demands to be fulfilled. Please step down from your high horse.
But what stops you to contribute work for the project then? Expecting stuff to be done from volunteers but not contribute anything yourself but demands is helping nobody.

Yet again, it is not worth the time. The models are not made by Milli and it's not really her responsibility either.
She does not *need* to do anything. You can easily do that for your own game. You have the tools, you have the research power. If you'd like to do changes on the game, go for it, but do not demand it from others. The input is appreciated but please drop this demanding tone.
We are talking about Test Drive Unlimited, not Assetto Corsa. The cars were grippy in the game since the beginning, this is an arcade game. The physics engine is 15+ years old, and was pretty mediocre back then even.
The price cars are always free, and there are quite a few. Nardo is one of them. They don't have a price. They are always at 0 but you can not obtain them normally.

what exactly is a mod folder? You have to replace the files with the core files of the game. If unsure, read the Readme file attached in the downloaded folder. Where exactly did you copy the files to? Which path? Or what did you do to install it? Need more information about what youve done, your description currently is very vague.

I wanted to create a video demo of the current build but OBS does not like recording more than 2 frames per minute apparently. So only screenshots again.

I worked a bit further on the color grading and the rain shader. I think it came out nice. Still improvements to be done though. Steam integration is also there, but I will make it optional at some point. No real news about gameplay and UI since I had a nasty bug which had to be fixed before continuing, but I fixed it today so it can progress from here. Don't expect any news soon though. Still a lot to do irl. Ah, and custom parts are still not UV mapped for the use with the raindrops so it looks odd here and there. It will look better next time.

Enjoy the pics. Maybe you can see already which mood I am aiming for the game.

Why do the game programers make games so unmodifiable? :D

Just joking, looking forward for all the planed things. If this would work, I would play TDU again like in the first day I got this game.

I got Pokémon Gold edition back today, will get NFS:Underground 1 the next days, and now just TDU is missing.

I would very much prefer other modders not to touch my mods. I lock them for a reason. I think I can speak for all modders or ex-modders spending a lot of time (weeks or even months in my case) for car mods, which don't want some randoms to fiddle with it. ZModelers locking system is garbage anyway, so it's a matter of respect at this point to not reimport and rework released mods from others.

Rules has no respect for anyone, I already see that by the trash he releases with the sole good features being my  inventions for car models blatantly ripped , yet again, I will not accept randoms to re-release my mods.

And the windows are not synced online afaik, so you would not see it on other player's cars anyway.
yes because the final gear ratio was not changed. It's normal gearing behaviour
This is her right to decline that if she does not want to take your money, it still does not mean you can expect her doing things for you. If she does not want your financial support, you still have no right to demand anything from anyone.
You can export single car slot rows or wheels or anything from TDUF. You don't have to send whole database files. If one will take contributions, they can easily just import this single slot rows into the DB. That's how car mods were distributed for over 10 years at this point.
Again, does not matter. If she does not want to accept your financial support for work she does, then you still have no right to take anything for granted. It's Millis mod, not yours. It's Millis time, not yours. And it's her decision, not yours.
