  1. At the very least, it was not the PC version running at the highest settings. There was clearly aliasing. Perhaps they did that to show that it was actual real-time footage whereas if they had released a trailer with all the settings on high and AA, some may have thought it to be CG.
  2. From what I've seen - the shadows look smoother and more detailed [image] - lighting system in general & motion blur seems much improved [image] - car paint looks more realistic with the sparkle effect on it [image] - cars take damage and get dirt on them [image] - environmental effects (rain) look very good - road textures look way more detailed [image] - car interior materials look more true to real life (suede looks like suede, leather looks like leather, etc) [image] - car interior has higher poly count [image] - car interior has all of the stitching that their real life counterparts do
  3. Skidmarks are entirely independent of the makeup of the environment, thats something they could've done even with a patch to TDU1. I don't think the Colin McRae shot looks more realistic, it looks more fantasy. The problems that TDU1 did have relating to the environment were the look of the grass (a little too 2D), environment pop in, and general low polygons in the environment.
  4. How did I miss this piece of news? I suppose this means Eden may have scrapped the beta stuff we've seen of TDU2 and is going to be able to create a better looking open world from scratch (whether it be Hawaii or somewhere else) using this new engine. Since this announcement was quite recent I'm not sure if we'll even see TDU2 at next year's E3. I guess it depends on whether or not they scrapped the whole game engine or only the environment engine.
  5. I think they are trying to address a problem some people had with the game which is there was no motivation to play it. There was nothing pushing you to progress. The people who enjoyed the game were more likely the people who had a lot of self-motivation to complete everything or those who just liked to free-ride.
  6. Actually it reminds me of Lost... because that's where they actually film it ... in fact in the middle of that valley is where the Barracks are (if you watch the show you'd know what I'm talking about). It would be cool if they added some Lost Easter Eggs on the Island.
  7. Fallout 3 (which is a games for windows title) still uses the fat PC-DVD case that TDU did.
  8. I'm pretty confident at this point that TDU2 is in development since it was announced by Eden Games' David Nadal weeks before Phil Harrison joined Atari, and at the Atari Live conference Phil Harrison said he considered TDU among the top franchises in Atari's library, and was one of the reasons why he joined Atari. I think its a good thing that they are sitting on it. I'm just hoping they shore up a few issues: - DLC coming way too late to PC - too many different menus-- in the PC version theres basically 4 different menus where you access game options/information: Escape menu where you can set game options, Pause menu where you can restart races/take photos, map menu where you can find races/friends, and Property menu where you can find information about your progress I'd expect TDU2 to hit the same platforms as Alone in the Dark did.
  9. The TDU PC case is terrible. Actually, ALL PC cases are terrible. They really should move to a 360 or PS3 style case
