  1. Assetto Corsa - Red Pack Tease Not taking much time to soak in the heaps of praise and adulation people have been throwing at Kunos Simulazioni after announcing that Porsche was coming to Assetto Corsa, the devs are back to teasing what else they have planned. Going by the game's official Facebook, this new downloadable content (DLC) for Assetto Corsa will be called the 'Red Pack' and will be out on July 14th. A couple of images of two of the vehicles that will be included was also shown as a small tease. Beginning with the gorgeous red Maserati 250F. This car was raced by two of the most famous names in motor-racing history: Juan Manuel Fangio and Sir Stirling Moss. With Fangio helping make the cars presence in motorsport felt immediately when it won its first race at the 1954 Argentine Grand Prix. An eyeful of orange (well you need red to make it I suppose) Lamborghini Aventador SV is next, and subtlety is most definitely not the case with this raging bull. With it's low and aggressive stance, sharp sticky out bits and huge rear wing, this thing wouldn't look out of place in Carmageddon mowing down cattle and scaring grannies! Powered by a thunderous V12 pumping out 740 bhp, a 0-60 time of less than 3 seconds and a sub 7 minute lap of the Nordschleife, this mad Lamborghini doesn't mind being on the road or the track. Speaking of track, Licensing Project Manager Marco Massarutto shared an in-game image of the Red Bull Ring, the latest addition to the game's already quite impressive circuit library. Interestingly the focus of this image seemed to be on a DRS marker. Does this hint to a modern Formula 1 car coming with this pack? If so there shouldn't be too long to wait before finding out. 2. Assetto Corsa JDM DLC Another vehicle pack has dropped for Assetto Corsa (AC) and this time it is the turn of those from Japan. This new DLC offers some of the most favoured and admired models from the land of the rising sun and sees the debut of Mazda to the series. Featuring models from Toyota, Nissan and Mazda, the Japanese pack will make many JDM fans happy with the inclusion of idols such as the Supra MK IV, AE86 Trueno, RX-7, MX-5, GT-R R34 Skyline and the 370Z. With many of these being known for their fun handling, particularly the MX-5 and AE86 Trueno, AC's respected simulation physics should make piloting these cars in the game's many circuits a lot of fun and quite the challenge, but if nailed properly, will no doubt deliver one of the best virtual driving experiences around. With this being a pack full of Japanese machinery, it is of no surprise that the drift muppets (love you really guys!) are specially catered for, with Drift versions of the Supra and AE86. And don't worry if that's not your thing, as a number of the cars come in more than one guise and consist of either a tuned or track attack variant, along with the normal stock offering. In total there are 6 distinct cars with 12 possible versions: Mazda MX-5 2015 Mazda MX-5 CUP Mazda RX-7 Spirit R + tuned version Toyota Supra MK IV + time attack and Drift version Toyota AE86 Trueno + tuned and Drift version Nissan 370Z NISMO Nissan GT-R R34 Skyline V-Spec Available now, the Assetto Corsa Japanese pack is available on Steam for the reasonable price of €4.99 / £3.99 / $4.99. 3. "Surprise" Bonus Pack 2 A video has been released, rather unexpectedly, showing off the contents of a brand new Bonus Pack for Assetto Corsa, due to release alongside the version 1.5 update on March 31st. In the humorous showing for the free Bonus Pack 2, we see a Corvette C7 Stingray and a Ford Mustang enjoying themselves on the new "Black Cat County" desert track which will come in three configurations, before meeting up with a stylish Italian "surprise". As they all face each other, the revs rise and then the power drops, producing puffs of smoke as their tyres struggle to grip on the tarmac due to the horsepower being exerted through them, speeding head-first towards each other as quickly as they can accelerate along the stretch of tarmac. It's really quite a sight to behold and brilliantly executed. And as Kunos themselves are Italian, it makes sense that they would want to include a true hero of their country's automotive history. The surprise from Italy will be included within the console version, however the US duo is available as part of the ‘Prestige Pack’ pre-order incentive at select retailers. Currently available on PC via Steam, Assetto Corsa will hit Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 3rd in Europe and June 7th in North America. Source: Assetto Corsa facebook
  4. Assetto Corsa: Brands Hatch One of the more famous racing circuits of the UK, Brands Hatch (Brands), is coming to Assetto Corsa in the fast-approaching Dream Pack 3. Brands, according to Kunos Simulazioni, has taken 6 months to produce from thousands of reference photos and Laserscan data and will be the fourth track to be released this year for the title, following on from Nurburgring, Zandvoort and Barcelona. Ever continuing to bring the goods to its players in the way of popular circuits being added to the ever-growing official track list available to the game. A favourite among motorsport fans, Brands hosts all manner of racing series such as the BTCC, DTM and even the British Superbike Championship and with corners such as Paddock Hill Bend, Druids, Dingle Dell and Clearways, there are plenty of opportunities to pass, but if you're not careful these can also make you look a fool and have you crawling through the gravel traps. More about Dream Pack 3 is due to come in the coming weeks and days, namely the cars and like you, we are hoping for some treats! Dream Pack 3 is due for release on December 15th, 2015 via Steam. 6. A DREAM COME 2 True to their word about the release of Assetto Corsa (AC) Dream Pack 2 and the version 1.3 update coming before [the end of] October 8th, Kunos Simulazioni (Kunos) have released both as of yesterday. The AC Dream Pack 2 contains in a first for PC racing simulations, a laser-scanned version of the Circuit of Catalunya in two layouts, and eight brand new cars with two of them in different versions making for ten in total. Similar to the first Dream Pack, the cars included have been selected from the results of polls where gamers have picked their favourite manufacturers and models via the Assetto Corsa website. "A resolution of 2 cm guarantees that every single bump, curb and slope is a perfect match to the real counterpart. The resulting accuracy combined with the advanced physics model of Assetto Corsa offers an unprecedented driving experience blurring even more the difference between virtual racing and reality." - Kunos Simulazioni Due to its complexity, the laser-scanned Catalunya circuit took nine months to recreate and is "the most faithful version of the Spanish track available in any racing game to date" according to Kunos. The cars fall in the Production and Racing categories, with the normal of the selection consisting of those from BMW, Lamborghini and RUF and the Racing having a Ford - the first in the game - legend, an Audi, another Lamborghini and that racing prototype SCG003 from that mega-rich jammy sod James Glickenhaus. Dream Pack 2 Content: Track: Circuit of Catalunya – GP / MOTO GP version Racing cars AUDI R8 ULTRA 2014 FORD GT40 MKI LAMBORGHINI Huracán GT3 Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003 Production cars BMW M4 Coupé BMW M4 Coupé Akrapovič Edition LAMBORGHINI Countach 5000 QuattroValvole RUF RT 12 R AWD RUF RT 12 R RWD The Dream Pack 2 is available on Steam for €7.99. [gallery columns=5" ids="3011,3010,3008,3007,3006,3005,3004,3002,3001,3015,3016,3018,3019,3020,3021,3024,3025,3026,3027,3029,3030,3031,3032,3033,3034,3035,3036,3037,3038,3039] As for the update, well it is a game changer, literally. With improvement to the core game engine along with new features to the physics engine the game now supports native 64-bit. The physics engine has been reworked and is now multithreaded (though there is a report of Dual Core instability that will be fixed on Monday) proving for a better driving experience, "butter-smooth" Force Feedback and the apparent removal of signal noise and vibrations. AC's physics code is extremely highly-regarded, constantly evolving with many improvements being implemented during its life. 1.3 takes this further again with advanced active aerodynamics, four-wheel drive simulation with active differentials, authentic driving assists, hybrid engine simulation and a scary attention to tyre-wear aspects such as blistering, graining and flat spotting. With version 1.3 we now present you a completely reworked tyre model that includes new features in connection with tyre-speed sensitivity, combined grip, slip angles and ratios, load sensitivity, rolling resistance and most importantly, separated heating for surface and core temperatures. As a result, driving in Assetto Corsa is now more realistic than ever. The driving experience is more natural while at the same time also more challenging at the limit. Real-life features such as driving carefully in the first two laps to heat the tyres or taking it easy to cool down overheated tyres after a spin, the handling of the car changing from turn to turn depending on your driving style or as a result of driver errors and choosing the correct tyre compound depending on the track and car combination and also your driving style will now become part of your daily driving experience in Assetto Corsa. - Assetto Corsa Facebook And they haven't stopped at the tyres. Improved ABS system and depending on the car you're virtually sitting in, the game now supports different generations of these systems using 1 to 4 channels. Active differentials are enabled for RWD cars such as the brand new BMW M4 and the height sensitivity of front splitters and diffusers have been adjusted making their influence more complex from a setup point of view. This update makes the cars "alive", their behaviour often changing from one turn to the next in response to how you drive... or something.
