  1. The Real Pic Taking Simulator A large amount of new screens have been released for GT Sport and with them we can see that Polyphony Digital have been busy little squirrels. (why... why squirrels?) 2016 has been a bit of a torrid affair for Gran Turismo fans, starting with the FIA-partnered event in July that seemed to show a less than stellar looking version of the game. As is the case though with anything GT, that worry is being put to bed with every morsel of media and impression that manages to slide out. The latest is this dumping of 78 images featuring a selection of road, racing and rally cars on a variety of circuits, along with a first look at a new to GT dirt location called – if the banners plotted along the course are to be believed – Fishermans Ranch. With steep uphill sections that inevitably end up in a jump and some high-speed sections with some hairpin bends at the end, this new addition will ideally turn out to be another well-designed fictional environment that the Polyphony team do so well. As you may know, the main man behind GT, Kazunori Yamauchi, is an avid racer and can regularly be found participating in major races such as the Nürburgring 24 hour. In that race this year he was one of the drivers who raced in the #101 BMW M6 GT3 and this car, just like a number of his previous will appear in GT Sport. Visuals have never been an issue for the series and natural colouring and lighting has always been a strong point of the GT series and again Polyphony are looking to excel at this better than any other. Always being able to get the most out of the hardware that’s available and continuing to impress onlookers (usually family) with those glorious replays. It is of course a little tricky to judge a GT game by only its still images as they have almost always been through the usual the post-processing tricks. However, What is clear to see, is that the game will be a looker and that with every day from now until release it looks like Polyphony are well on the case of bringing Sport up to scratch. And with PlayStation VR coming fast and the rumoured more powerful Neo version of the PS4 likely to be unveiled at a Sony event next month, the potential of this game is increasing massively. Good things come to those who wait. Indeed. Gran Turismo Sport is scheduled for release exclusively for the Playstation 4 on November 15th in North America and Asia, November 16th in Europe, and the UK gets whatever is left in the cargo container on the 18th. 2. GT SPORT The PlayStation conference at Paris Game Week has finished and with it we got our first look and information about Gran Turismo SPORT for PlayStation 4. The next instalment in the GT series, due in 2016 (we'll see) is taking full advantage of their partnership with the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) and will have players competing in year-long championships with their favourite manufacturers and racing for their own country's honour. And In a first for video game racing, it is said that the winners will be awarded their spoils in the same manner as real world motorsport champions at an FIA prize giving ceremony. FIA Gran Turismo Championships In Gran Turismo Sport, there will be two online championships officially sanctioned by the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) running simultaneously. In the Nations Cup, players will be able represent their home country. Whilst in the Manufacturers Cup, players will be driving on behalf of their favorite car manufacturer. Players will not only be able to race as drivers themselves, they’ll also be able to root for their home country or their favorite manufacturers teams. The winner of the championship will be awarded in the same manner as real life motorsports champions, at the FIA prize giving ceremony. This will be a historic moment, the first time a video game will officially be recognised as part of the real motoring world. The usual graphical, audio and physics updates were mentioned and it is not clear at this time how many cars will be in or if we will see the 'standards' return (hope not!), but what we do know is it looks damn good, it showed us some great looking cars and one driver had a very very shiny helmet. A Beta for GT Sport is due in Spring 2016. Thanks: PlayStation Blog | gran-turismo.com [yop_poll id=1]
  3. Make Tracks of Course When the course editor for Gran Turismo 6 (GT6) was talked about many moons ago as a feature that was coming to the game, the expectation by many was that it would be late, and it was, and is but lo and behold the time-prolonging experts of Polyphony Digital have actually gone and done it. Unlike in GT5 the Course Maker, known as the Track Path Editor is now an app, available on tablets for Android and iOS (Android 4.1+/ iOS 7.0+) that enables you to create your own courses where they can then be driven around in GT6 on PlayStation 3. You can choose from one of four basic location settings, the track’s shape, width and even the banking of corners along with trackside objects such as curbs, billboards, trees and buildings. There's a nice little touch when using the "Eifel Flat" location, in that images can be used as a base to help you in tracing the layout of any real life circuits or locations you may wish to recreate, or at least attempt to copy anyway. And what of that whole copy your own GPS data in that we heard about? It's there, no really it is - Raw GPX/KML data can be imported from compatible GPS devices. Lucas Ordoñez gets to grips with the Track Path Editor How to use the GT6 Track Path Editor The general steps to create a track and race on it in Gran Turismo 6. Install the Track Path Editor on your tablet device. ( Apple App Store / Google play ) Create track data using the Track Path Editor. Transfer the track you've created into Gran Turismo 6. Load the track data using the Track Path Importer. Test drive every section of the track using the Track Path Importer. Save the track as a user-created track. Use the track in Arcade Mode or in the Community area. The official Gran Turismo website has more info about the GT6 Track Path Editor in its manual. If you're wondering what this all looks like then our good friends at MotoGames have helpfully done a video showing exactly that. GT6 Track Path Editor - Images [gallery] The update also included the following: Penalties have been disabled in “Free Run” mode. With the addition of the “GT6 Track Path Editor”, the maximum length of best lap replays that can be loaded in the Data Logger has been set to 20 minutes. The engine sounds of certain cars have been improved. (wait really? no wait are you serious?!) GT Academy 2015 has been removed from the [sPECIAL EVENTS] section in accordance to the end of the Online Qualifier period. Thanks: GTPlanet / Gran Turismo
  4. Chaps at VVV have dug up something interesting again. Apparently, a Croatian retailer has recently put up a pre-order ad for the new GT game that is to be released sometimes by 2017 IIRC. And some insider guy posted this. Interesting indeed that it haz no seven in the name. Could be a prologue thingy again or something? :phil2:
  5. GT 6 Update Brings Gifts Another update is available now for Gran Turismo 6 and with it comes two new cars, new Seasonal Events and a nice little gift for when you login on your birthday. The 1.04 update adds the second-half of the Red Bull X Challenge to the Career Mode where you will be taught by F1 Champion Sebastian Vettel (like kettle apparently) to drive an "authentic" Formula car. Find out more in the trailer below. Gran Turismo Concepts A racing variation of the "Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo" gives invite to a new Seasonal Event where as is typical you can win the car by completing the event to the required level. There is also a second Seasonal Event that involves the "Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Gran Turismo Concept" that was shown at the SEMA show in 2013 and was designed and created in collaboration between the Corvette development team and Gran Turismo. Again it is possible to obtain this car by participating in the event too. Both of these cars are only going to be available for a limited time so be sure to jump on the game and get them! Happy Birthday - Have a free car on us! The durations between Gran Turismo releases are normally quite a bit, so it's quite endearing to see that Polyphony Digital are thinking of you and how you will age while you wait for the next GT to come out by giving you a FREE car on your birthday! And not just any car either, but one which is on or as close to the year of your birth as possible, which in our opinion is rather damn nice. It may be annoying to see some people get a supercar and you a banger but the thought is what counts right? Your 'present' will be gifted to you within one week of the date that is set in your 'Sony Entertainment Network' account settings. The other stuff The update also brings the below: Remove Ghost Replay feature added A Remove Ghost Replay button has been added to the Arcade Mode Time Trial and Free Run Quick Menu. You can display this feature by scrolling the right of the menu. This will allow you to remove ghost data that includes unintentional shortcuts. Prize Information added to Seasonal Events It is now possible to see what prizes are awarded in the Seasonal Events. This information is displayed on the right side of the Seasonal Events entry screen. Thanks - PlayStation Blog (US)
  6. Race to Win It's hardly been any time since the Toyota FT-1 Concept Coupe was unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, and already we have word that Polyphony Digital will be bringing the car via a FREE update to Gran Turismo 6 tomorrow, January 14th. In the update is a unique Seasonal Event that features the car, if you manage to get Bronze or better in the challenge at Laguna Seca then the car will be yours, however if you are useless then fear not as you can still get your hands on the car by purchasing it directly from the Toyota dealer. The car is from the creative minds at Calty Design Research (Calty) who have worked with Toyota for over 40 years, creating some of their most cutting-edge concepts and design ideas. Calty approached the Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital to recreate the concept to use as part of the design studio's pitch to the higher-ups at Toyota. It worked, seeing the concept envisioned via the Gran Turismo game engine swayed Toyota into going with and recreating the concept. As expected people are already making whispers and raising eyebrows that this could be a Next Supra and with the many design traits the concept contains you can see why. From the long-nose, side profile and that relatively round rear (read: fat ass) it's apparent that there is indeed some Supra heritage floating around in the FT-1 Concept Coupe. So a new Supra that looks like this? Hell yeah bring it on! A rejuvenation of classic Japanese sports cars such as the Supra is well overdue in our eyes! 7. Get ready for some feels again as Sony have got another nostalgia video out with this best of Gran Turismo video, showing some of the main moments that people sent in via twitter.
  8. The Real Driving Simulator 6 A new addition in the massively popular Gran Turismo series has been announced at a special event at Silverstone Racing Circuit in the UK today, Gran Turismo 6 (GT6) is coming to the PlayStation 3 before the end of 2013 (well that's the plan!) and will have in the region of 1200 cars with all of those from GT5 being retained, and 71 tracks via 33 locations, 7 of them new including Silverstone. Customisation has been given a boost with the ability to put "thousands of aerodynamic parts and custom wheels" on almost all of the cars and players will be able to create their own unique cars to the "greatest ever level possible", does that hint at a livery editor perhaps? Physics and handling have been given another good look with the joining up with 'Yokohama Rubber' and 'KW Automotive Suspension' being roped in to give extra technical expertise in their respective areas which should make GT5's already decent feeling handling even better and more authentic. With the PS4 coming at the end of this year there are a lot of people asking why bring GT6 to PS3 and not PS4 and that is of course a fully valid question, but for myself personally who grew up playing Gran Turismo from the start I just see it as a continuation of the two main GT titles per key Sony platform; PS1 had GT and GT2, PS2 got GT3 and GT4 and now PS3 is following suit with GT5 and now GT6. There has already been hints of a GT for PS4 and whether this will be a upgraded version of GT6 or a wholly new in the way of GT7 is something we will just have to wait to see. What's certain is that Polyphony Digital always seem to get the best out of the machines they develop for so GT on PS4 is going to simply breathtaking! Here's hoping that they put some of this new extra power and performance into other aspects of the game and finally give the GT fans the perfect GT we have been waiting for since bloody 1998!! A demo of GT6 will be out in July. 9. GT Underscore... ? There's no bigger racing series around than Gran Turismo and believe it or not it's celebrating it's 15th anniversary, well it actually did that back in December 2012 when it was launched in Japan but for those of us in Europe and the Americas where the game was launched on the 8th for Europe and the 12th for North America it is actually essentially 15 years to the day when many of us got our hands on the original 'The Real Driving Simulator'. I myself remember going down to the shop I pre-ordered from and picking the game up, getting home throwing open the PS1 lid and spinning the game up. And if there was one game where you watched an entire intro time and time again it was Gran Turismo. My version had the and it did not half get you fired-up to race and to chase after the credits to buy the cars you saw. *good times* Anyway it looks like we are going to get to see what the future of GT will be as there has been a media event announced at Silverstone Grand Prix circuit for the 15th May. Will it be GT6 for PS3 as has been heavily rumoured since the start of this year, a cross-gen GT release or maybe even a GT for all PS systems? Only time will tell but as with everything to do with a new GT possibly coming, it's going to be very well worth the watch. And here is hoping that this time the wait isn't quite so long as it was with Gran Turismo 5. Discuss Gran Turismo on the forum.
  10. The Waiting Game Begins In an interview toward the end of February, SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) Senior Vice President Michael Denny was recorded stating that GT6 would indeed be coming to the Playstation 3. He didn't bother correcting himself, he just let it slip out - the cat is now out of the bag. Though we knew GT6 was coming, it was inevitable, but for it to be blurted out by an executive took Gran Turismo fans by surprise. By now, of course we all know this information - it happened close to a month ago; however there has been no news beyond that slip of the tongue and that might not be good news. Let's just get it out of the way right now, Polyphony doesn't know the meaning of the word "deadline" - Kazunori Yamauchi doesn't like to rush, he'd rather have perfection. And most loyal GT fans feel exactly the same, the stereotypical GT player has the patience of a monk and will wait through countless delays to finally get their hands on the next game in the series. However this is where things get a bit complicated; Gran Turismo 5 released three whole years after GT5 Prologue came out and six years after Gran Turismo 4. As a result, many members of the media weren't impressed with the overall product when it finally released at the end of 2010. Many saw it as a grinding disappointment after so many years of waiting, the consensus from many was that the waiting wasn't worth it. However with the news of Gran Turismo 6 supposedly being on the near horizon it makes us wonder, will Polyphony actually make a deadline? Or will they once more delay the game far into the future? There's no doubt that Gran Turismo 5 still has plenty of life to it, thanks to the regular updated that Polyphony provides to it - but just how long will fans have to wait for the next installment? After all, it really isn't up to SCEE when Polyphony finishes their game and we all know they won't finish it until they feel it's absolutely complete. And since Gran Turismo 6 seems to be releasing on PS3 and PS4, which one would you rather have it on? Be sure to let us know how you feel in the comments below and tell us what you think Polyphony has to do to make this the best Gran Turismo ever.
  11. GT PS4? You sure, bit optimistic that! An eagle-eyed individual going by the name of Big_Ste has spotted that the Facebook account of LM Gianetti has posted an album under the title "SCANSIONE PER GRAN TURISMO PS4" which if you are not as fluid in Italian as we certainly are not, translates as 'Scan for Gran Turismo PS4'. What's interesting about this is that some of the images which you can see below show the James Glickenhaus P4/5 Racer as well as two classic Italian Motorsport Legends of the Lancia Delta and the Alfa Romeo 155 Touring Car, where those of you who can remember playing the earlier GT's should remember fondly as it was let's just say.. a bit NUTS! Image showing the Album As with all things in relation to the future of Gran Turismo, only time will tell what is to come and even then it will still no doubt be delayed once or thrice before finally releasing, but we don't mind this do we as the attention to detail, the cars and of course the classy elevator music are what makes GT what it is and we wouldn't have it any other way. Well apart from the engine and exhaust notes, please PD get your kit together and get some proper sounds this time. GT PS4 hasn't been announced, hinted at or even mentioned except in the dreams of fans, but at this time we are confident to predict that it will be out before GT's 100th anniversary in 2097 (23rd December ..a Monday). [gallery size=gallery-thumbnail" itemtag="div" icontag="span" link="file" columns="5" ids="1001,1000,999,998,997,996,995,994,993,992] Thanks. LM Gianetti Facebook
  12. The head of the GT series has announced weather, night racing on top of the already announced damage physics. Apparently if you do a 24hr race you can predict the weather over the time of the race. This game is going to be great when it finally gets here http://www.gtplanet.net/weather-changes-night-racing-in-gran-turismo-5/#more-1756
  13. Hi Everyone, As you may or may not have heard, in the GT4 Photomode thread, we were discussing making a POTW for Gran Turismo 4. This was an excellent idea and i really like it. Usual forum rules apply. The picture must be taken by you. It cannot be edited in any way at all (you can add your name to it if you wish). You can use any car in the game. Uhh that's it i think.. The normal POTW rules apply here too. Everyone should at least try once. It'll be great and it's quite easy to take awesome shots on GT4. To vote for a picture, please just send a post of the person's name you wish to vote for. ' The theme this week is: Early 90's cars.
