  1. 2012 was an interesting year. Some wondered if it would be the last year, and of course a movie had to develop that plotline further. Perhaps worse than that, the official online servers for Test Drive Unlimited 1 were shut down, which made us all feel very sad. Not long later we had the release of the first open world Forza title for XBOX 360 which took us to a version of Colorado which strangely lacked Pikes Peak. It was a good game, and the start of a good series to fill in the void left by TDU, but it just wasn't the same. At least it still provided a few laughs. But that wasn't all. In March of 2012 we were treated to a new flight 'simulator' from Microsoft, which conveniently for us, featured Hawaii of all places. It was a freemium game with DLC planes, locations and challenges. A number of us do like to fly on PC on occasion. If you don't count the re-release of a 64-bit version of Flight Simulator X Acceleration on Steam in 2014, then the 2012 release of Microsoft Flight was our last flying update from Microsoft in 7 years. So imagine our delight when Microsoft surprises us with a gorgeous trailer showing us a new version of the simulator due to land (pun intended) sometime in 2020. Take a look for yourself here: The trailer doesn't tell us a great deal of details about the upcoming sim, but the amazing detail of the world (without having to purchase and install a hundred add-ons) in stunning 4K definitely has our attention here at TurboDuck. We'll be sure to make a beeline for O'ahu as soon as we can. Here's what we can deduce from the trailer and it's description: * Available on Xbox and Windows PC (so it should attract casual fliers) * Powered by satellite data and MS Azure AI Cloud computing * Amazing volumetric clouds which cast realistic shadows on the ground * SNOW * Bodies of water are not a singular colour, and cities have High Def textures out of the box * FOG * Delicious reflections on aircraft and detailed airport vehicle and building textures with shadows * A variety of light and stunt aircraft as well as jumbo jets, including the cover-plane from Microsoft Flight from Icon * Beautiful sunsets accompany expected time-of-day and weather settings * High-detailed 3D cockpits with the ability to turn your head, bank your aircraft and admire the view below * Many real-world scenic attractions to visit including what appears to be New York, Dubai, Alcatraz, Egypt, San Francisco, along with coral reefs, mountains, canyons, craters, stadiums, and more * Lighting and rain effects * Hundreds of vehicles on the roads and in the carparks below * Wildlife including flamingos, elephants, and giraffes * Multiplayer * Challenging Alpine landing strips Want to come fly with me? Let's fly, let's fly away to the Comments section below to discuss one of Microsoft's oldest slogan questions:
  2. Rumours are creating a lot of discussions around what was previously codenamed an upcoming Xbox One Maverick console. A new name and preorder date have surfaced. Meet the new Xbox One S All-Digital Edition: While we can't 100% confirm this name is final, players have been quick to abbreviate it this SAD console and jeer Microsoft's marketing department for this seeming oversight. Preorders for this console are anticipated to begin in April 2019. No information about specs is available at this time, but we assume it will be very similar to existing Xbox One S hardware, perhaps with revised cooling and obviously no optical drive. Perhaps the in-built storage specifications are increased significantly to allow more simultaneous game installations. But then again, perhaps a justification against this is that owners of this console will be more likely to stream their games rather than purchase and install them. This would allow for the SAD Box to be sold cheaper. But will you need a console at all? Microsoft has been talking about making it's Cloud Game Streaming service available on all sorts of devices, including the Nintendo Switch and even on PlayStation. (I really can't imagine Sony signing up for that). Consoles often have sold at slim profit margins - it's the games and online services that rake in the money. So if Microsoft can have players using (or just paying for) its services on any devices, there aren't too many reasons left to care about selling consoles. Performance? Servers handle the performance of rendering streamed games. What about PCs? It sure has been nice to be able to play Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3 + 4 on my PC, even without an active Xbox Live Gold subscription. But I fear this may not last. A new 'fast-ring' preview build of Windows 10 has been revealed to support playing Xbox Game disc images natively, with Microsoft providing one game to these beta users for free and encouraging them to try playing the game and reporting feedback. This seems to suggest that future versions of Windows 10 will be able to play any Xbox 1 game. But when that happens, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft requires these PC players to have Xbox Live Gold. While fast gaming PCs may cost more to build, part of this is significantly offset by having free multiplayer and cheaper games. This being true in the future seems uncertain. Forza titles are only sold on PC through the Microsoft store, and at a very high price compared to what Steam customers may be used to. If you own one of these games on disc, there is no way to claim a digital copy on PC. The only saving grace is that the game can be purchased once for both PC and Xbox hardware, and with free multiplayer to boot. What about you? If you already own an Xbox One S or X edition, the new SAD edition won't offer much for you. If you don't, would you consider this as an option this late in the product lifecycle? Would you instead wait and see if a newer faster Xbox is released in a year or two? Have you tried any game streaming services before? What were your impressions? I've had bad experiences streaming Steam games over my wired LAN, so as a fan of racing games where quick reflexes (and minimal frame delays) are key, the prospect of streaming over the Internet doesn't seem like it will ever be viable for me.
  3. The Fate of the Furious Is Coming To Forza 7 Turn 10 have announced that Forza Motorsport 7 will receive a ‘The Fate of the Furious Car Pack’ at launch and that it will be free to the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions of the game, or available standalone for a price. Created in collaboration with Universal Brand Development, the pack features ten cars all authentically reproduced from those found in the latest of the action-packed blockbuster series. Reaction to the pack has been mixed, with some scratching their heads and questioning whether the ‘Motorsport’ branch of Forza is fitting for a pack like this, especially as the 'Day One' pack that is given as one of the bonuses for those who have bought the more expensive versions - feeling that it’s more suited to the Horizon games than it’s track based brethren. 4. Microsoft have said they are ready to talk to developers who want to feature crossplay, citing Nintendo and Valve especially. There are of course games already that do this, but this is now being extended to anyone who wants it. It's funny watching MS who were sort of against this last-gen come out supporting it more and it is Sony who are the 'bad guy' now, because of their attitude towards it. It would be excellent for this to happen in my opinion, certain games are set for it - sports and racing titles especially. 6. Forza Horizon 3 – You Bunch of Hoonigans! A new car pack for Forza Horizon 3 has been revealed for August. The ‘Hoonigan Car Pack’ will arrive next week on the 15th and sees the partnership between Forza and the so-called “motorsport lifestyle” brand continue beyond that of the Blizzard Mountain expansion at the end of last year. For those devoted fans of the Forza series of games who have already put in their pre-orders digitally for Forza Motorsport 7, they will get this car pack at no additional cost both in FH3 and FM7. That’s right, this pack is also making its way to the upcoming Forza 7 and will have near-identical content except for one vehicle each between the two packs. Ironically the Australian-based FH3 misses out on the native to that land Holden Commodore Ute, swapping this instead for a modified to hell "Loki" K5 Blazer. But when you sit back and think about it, this ultimate off-roader will be a lot more at home on the dust, sand and dirt covered hills and mountainous terrain of Horizon, rather than pulling laps or racing from point-to-point in the circuit based FM7. 7. No Toyota Production Cars In Forza 7! There will be no Toyota production cars in Forza Motorsport 7! As unbelievable as that sounds it has been officially confirmed by Turn 10 community manager, Brian Ekberg, in the latest ‘Week in Review’ posted on the official website. Everyday and fan favourites such as the Supra, AE86, Celica, classic 2000 GT and more that have appeared in previous games, will not be in Forza 7. Toyota badged cars are not completely gone however, there will still be the race cars, along with the Hilux Arctic Truck that former Top Gear duo Clarkson and May got to play with in Iceland. Unfortunately it isn’t always possible to align the interests of fans and the interests of our manufacturing partners. As a result, production Toyota vehicles are not represented in Forza 7. We’re as disappointed as you are about this news and, while we hope to bring Toyota production vehicles back to Forza games in the future, it is worth noting that a small number of Toyota race cars will be included in the game. Look for that list in a future edition of the Forza Garage. The above seems to indicate that Toyota and Turn 10 couldn’t come to an agreement, in what way, we can only guess, as the Japanese maker’s cars have featured in past games, where they’ve been able to be kitted out, customised and painted in the livery editor. Whatever the reason, let’s just hope it’s not because of another company grabbing them in some sort of exclusive licensing. (please let’s not see any of that again!) 8. Update: Paint is only being retired not terminated [media=twitter]889691624757788672[/media] MS Paint is here to stay - Windows Experience Blog Original Post Microsoft is set to kill off the iconic Paint program that has been a staple of every Windows and is much loved (but hardly ever used) in the Autumn/Fall Windows 10 update. Chances are you have used it, either to paste a print screen or maybe involuntarily as it opened when you clicked to view an image and the program had decided to take over as the one used for that file type. Windows won't be left without a paint program though, the introducion of Paint 3D in the Creators Update that recently started rolling out takes over the pedestal that old timey Paint did [via "]The Guardian]
  9. Forza Motorsport 7 Announced Racing fans of all over were in high spirits while watching the Xbox E3 conference, as during the show the first showing and details of Forza Motorsport 7 were revealed. When you are one of the biggest names in the racing game scene it doesn’t take much to get people excited about a new one, however Forza games have always not taken this for granted and generally strive to eclipse what they delivered previous. And who better to talk about it than Turn 10 studio boss Dan Greenawalt. Up on the stage he delved into the many details about the game before presenting the first ever look at Porsche’s brand new 911 GT2 RS, which itself will be the cover car for the game. Personally I think this moment was wasted on the audience as many of them didn’t seem to realise what was actually happening. In the way that Gran Turismo is a showpiece for PlayStation, Forza Motorsport has become one for Xbox, and with the newly announced Xbox One X FM7 is going in all exhausts blazing to demonstrate what it's capable of: running at a native 4K resolution at the trademark 60fps the games are known for and displaying an image quality and clarity that has only been seen on higher-end PCs compared to console. Setting out to be the largest Forza ever, FM7 will have over 700 cars including as said by Greenawalt, “the largest collection of Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches”. That claim isn’t only about the car list either, there will be 30 environments consisting of over 200 track configurations, made up of real world circuits, locations and fictional creations from Turn 10. This is great to hear as FM games can tend to lack in the number of circuits available department, and some of this number will be made up of former entries to the series, with Mugello being one of the first of these to be spotted from the video (1m27s). Another desire of fans has been answered too, with the featuring of dynamic time-of-day and weather conditions. Customisation is always a favourite in any Forza game and FM7 has now expanded this to include… your driver. Players can personalise their male or female character’s appearance through a wide range of racing gear that spans multiple decades and areas of popular culture. During the show a pair of female racing drivers played through their own races, the first on one of the brand new Dubai layouts in a Porsche 911 GT2 RS, and the other racing a Nissan GT-R racecar around a wet and stormy Nurburgring. Set to launch from October 3rd for the Xbox One family and Windows 10, FM7 is exhibiting that it could be the game many players have been waiting for!
  10. Project Scorpio Becomes Xbox One X Microsoft has taken the covers off of Project Scorpio and revealed its real name to be, Xbox One X. Keeping the ‘Xbox One’ in the name shows that MS has stayed true to their promise that this is in fact just a super powerful version of their current console. Priced at $499 and launching November 7th, the One X is aimed at hardcore gamers and this new system is a seriously hefty step up from its siblings, the One and One S. With that sort of premium there has to be some monumental increases in power, and there is. A beefier Radeon GPU capable of pumping out six teraflops of graphical processing power, 12GB GDDR5 RAM and a built-in 4K Blu-ray player means native 4K visuals are a reality, although buyers without a 4K tv will feel and see the benefits on a 1080p set too. Despite being the most powerful of the Xbox One systems, amazingly the One X will also be the smallest! Incredible how over time technology gets to a stage where such a significant increase in power and performance can be scaled down to be even smaller. It’s not a massive difference between it and the One S but still it’s quite remarkable that this is the case. Perhaps surprising (at least to me it is) is that the included controller is not an Elite but instead a standard one. And is a 1TB HDD enough space for storing all those 4K native and enhanced titles that are to come? External storage is obviously an option but hasn't the ability to swap hard drives become the obvious and preferred choice these days? When rumours were circulating around the price being what it turned out to be, some were put off, however they were willing to accept it had these two items been more on the premium side. Whatever the case, the One X will be the most powerful console out on the market when it launches in November and will have to stick around for a few years before a next-gen Xbox can be shown. Well at least you would hope so.
  11. Porsche Expansion Pack Price CRASH The Forza series continues to deal out the feel goods when it comes to Porsche, as for a very limited time only, the Forza Motorsport 6 Porsche Expansion gets a monstrous price cut! Reduced by a massive 75% for Xbox Live Gold members, the pack can be had for very little money ($5/£4/€5) and contains over 20 Porsche models, a new campaign, new multiplayer events and a new track – Virginia International Raceway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUvIzRiMnf0 The cream of the crop of the iconic brand are in, both racing and road-going. So no matter what generation you may be of, there will be a Porsche for you, and because of the genre defining sound expertise that Turn 10 have in their team, these cars can all be fully enjoyed, not just in looks, but in sound too. Therefore, if you held off from buying before but still enjoy a stint on Forza 6 now and again, then here is the perfect time to grab yourself this expansion and enjoy it even more! 12. Project CARS now FREE on Xbox One Xbox Live Gold subscribers can now pick up Project CARS for free for their Xbox One as part of the monthly ‘Games with Gold’ program. Starting Feb 16th through to March 15th. This giveaway was revealed before the sequel was officially announced earlier this month, and is the perfect way to get players to try out the brand for themselves with the intention of hooking their interest in the progress of the new game, currently due to be released in late 2017. Players of the game have had quite a turbulent experience since its initial release, resulting in the title having its haters as well as its fans. Nevertheless, after several updates and some support being provided throughout this bumpy period, it now provides a respectable alternative within the console sim-racing genre. A racing wheel is highly recommended, as controller handling has never been much of a strong point with the game, however if you can make it work for you – and there are plenty of suggestions of settings to use out there – then you might just find it becoming another of your go-to racers. With the sequel around the corner, we have every reason to expect they might have ironed out these handling bugs. If you have Xbox Live Gold then we definitely recommend you give Project CARS a go, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain as it will cost you nothing, and you might find it quickly becoming one of your favourite racing games. Just a warning that starting off with the go-karts may sour your initial impressions, so we recommend that you go for something else. That is unless you really want to start from the bottom and make your way up.
  13. Forza Horizon GT3 A partnership has been formed between Microsoft and the Change Racing team who will be running a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in the GTD Class in this year’s Rolex 24 at Daytona race. The Racing Bull will be wearing a special livery created by Turn 10’s very own Ayo Jube and sees plenty of Xbox and Forza Motorsport branding covering the vehicle, along with its typical sponsors. As a part of this partnership, Forza Horizon 3 will see the car become available as a download (and be included in Forza Motorsport 7?). How this will be done, we are uncertain, however it will either be given free, included in a premium car pack, or as is most likely, be a Forzathon prize. As the result of an expanding partnership with Microsoft, Change Racing will carry branding from Forza Motorsport, the hugely popular and best-selling racing video game from Turn 10 Studios for Xbox consoles. The partnership will be supported by a range of marketing activations as well as featuring in-game content from Change Racing, including the ability for players to download the No. 16 Forza Motorsport/Orion/Monster Energy GTD car for in game play. – IMSA website The Change Racing team have even been having some fun with the whole thing, sharing some of their testing and practice sessions on their twitter. If you are eager to see how the car and team does, then be sure to catch it at the race when it takes place on January 28th – 29th. [via IMSA | Forzamotorsport]
  14. BMW: Most Wanted ‘Tease the season to be jolly, Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la’. In the latest ‘Week in Review’ posted up on the official Forza website we are being treated to a little bit of a mystery as to what is to come in the new year with January’s Car Pack. Discussing of how the brand new event in January will star a car from the first of 2017’s DLC, Brian Ekberg mentions that the vehicle in question is in fact “the most requested BMW in Forza history”. Leaving us to scratch our heads and ponder of just what this ‘WE WANT THIS SOO BAD!!’ Ultimate Driving Machine could be. When we take a look at the BMW history in Forza it is actually more effective to look at what has been included and start scoring out those that are the iconic and the best in most people’s eyes. And with everything from the tiny 'Bubble Car' to the M1 and many generations of M3 and M5 being featured, the list is a lot shorter than you might expect. So what hasn’t then? Well perhaps we should be taking a look at BMW’s hybrids. These haven’t made their way in yet and fingers are pointing that this is what it will in fact be. Does this feel to ring true of the "most requested" moniker being tied to it? Hard to say but there was a poll on the official forums that had the i8 leading, but with a little of just over 40 votes it's not exactly an astronomical showing of support. Taking the hybrid thinking into real consideration though which one will it be: i3 or i8? I’d love for it to be the i3 for this event just to see the faces of people but no it will most probably be the i8. Whatever it is, (40+) people want it and so it will be received well (by at least 40 of them). Fortunately there is no need to wait too long to find out what it is, as the reveal will take place next week on Facebook. [via Forzamotorsport.net]
  15. Microtransaction 'Tokens' Come to FH3 Time to get those pitch forks out and grab a flaming torch as Forza Horizon 3 has been updated with a new ‘Tokens’ microtransaction system. In an act of pure disgust they are asking for players… no wait that’s the wrong word as players don’t need to use these at all as FH3 is generally pretty good at paying out and rewarding in-game currency, providing you play through it. So in respect, this is targeted to those who don’t play that much or who want to own everything without putting in the effort to do so (whales!) via the workings of the game, delivering an option where they can pay for an easier ride. Ah, but what about all those incessant prompts and notices that will be constantly pushed in front of your eye-balls? Yeah that could be the case, if you don’t go into the ‘Extras’ tab in the ‘Marketplace’ section of the game’s ‘Pause’ menu and toggle the option. Microtransactions are and can be a menace to gaming but the ones here are not. It would be very easy to label Playground and co as money-grubbing monsters who have made it so that the game is geared (haha pun!) towards their use, but FH3 is not this way at all. Yes you will need to play a good amount in order to achieve the higher-end vehicles but that is the way it should be, no? Getting everything handed to you is no fun, well it is in the short term but it also removes playability and longevity as there is no need to continue to achieve when it’s all available to you. However don’t get me wrong. I do understand that the grind can be too much, but at the same time I also remember how boring a game can become after everything was unlocked. It’s a hard thing to get right, but as long as it doesn’t feel that something has been priced extortionately high (GTA Online I am looking at you) or would require a literal year’s worth of normal playtime then I have no real problem with it.
  16. Logitech G Car Pack The new content train is well and truly on a roll right now in regards to Forza Horizon 3, what with the new ‘Blizzard Mountain’ expansion due out shortly and now this – the latest DLC car pack called the Logitech G Car Pack. December’s offering is the third monthly DLC car pack to be released for the game and is available now for Xbox One and Windows 10 players to buy, or download if they have the Car Pass. https://youtu.be/GXqlST_53M8 As has become somewhat customary with the car packs with the game this one is again chock full of some really interesting and exciting contents. The most outlandish being the Morgan 3 Wheeler, which now happily joins the Reliant in becoming another vehicle that sports a trio of rubber to help keep it pointing in the right direction. Japanese fans will be ecstatic to see the icon that is the 1992 Toyota Supra added to the roster. This car I particularly fondly remember being a real gem in winning me many a race in the first and second Gran Turismo games. Bentley’s stupidly gorgeous EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept is a luxury grand tourer that will no doubt be right at home eating up the miles as it cruises along the coastal roads and wherever else players deem to take it. And with it being a hybrid you can feel contented knowing that you are doing your bit for the game’s virtual environment or something. And then there is the aussie nutcase who springs out from nowhere: the HSV GTSR. Boasting a lot of power, a lot of questionable styling and a lot of yellah, the GTSR is a real character and belongs blasting up, down and through the roads and greeneries of FH3’s Australia. The Logitech G Car Pack is available now for those on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, or is free to those who have bought the Car Pass. 17. Blizzard Mountain Achievements With only a week to go until the first expansion of 'Blizzard Mountain' skids onto Forza Horizon 3 for Xbox One and PC a bundle of images and their accompanying achievements have been revealed. Found on the Xbox achievement encyclopedia that is Xbox Achievements, the posted list for the expansion gives an idea of what players can expect as they play through. However, these achievements are paired with images that depict what the task requires or a hint of how to obtain it. These in themselves are not only allowing us to see some of the action that will be available but also disclosing what the new Barn Find is. We won't spoil what that is, however if you want to know what is hidden away, be sure to check out the source link at the bottom. 'Blizzard Mountain' consists of a new alpine environment setting that will see buyers of the pack taking the seven new rides available – plus the aforementioned new Barn Find – across the more than 50 events and challenges that have to be completed in the quest to become ‘King of the Mountain’. Those wanting to live out those Ken Block fantasies will be glad to know they can make it a virtual reality, with the inclusion of Block’s latest Gymkhana Focus RS RX. New Bucket List Blueprint and Rivals events as well as a whole new batch of bonus boards to crash through and beauty spots to discover, make up the rest of what will take up players’ time while they roam around the snow and ice covered landscape. And this trekking around can be done in any of your stable of vehicles too because of the new snow tyres upgrade. Additionally, 500 Gamerscore can be attained through the 28 new Xbox Live achievements. Forza Horizon 3 ‘Blizzard Mountain’ will be available as a standalone purchase when it releases on December 13th, or is included with the Expansion Pass which gives buyers access to the two expansions (‘Blizzard Mountain’ and one other) for a discounted price. Ultimate Edition owners no longer get until the end of the year as was originally stated to buy the Pass, as that appears to have changed now to them having to buy it before the end of December 13th, 2016 in order to take advantage of the extra saving. 18. Porsche Pack 1 Resubmitted Players of Assetto Corsa on Xbox One should shortly be able to join in on the Porsche fun that their PC and PS4 counterparts are currently enjoying, with the news that Kunos Simulazioni have resubmitted the content to Microsoft. Intended for release on both PS4 and Xbox One earlier this week, it was unfortunate that some gremlins seemed to hit the Xbox One, resulting in a small delay for those on the platform. True to their word though, the devs at Kunos have worked on fixing what needed done and got it back into the hands at Microsoft where hopefully this time no problems will occur. >Today, we're pleased to announce that v 1.09 has gone into submission and providing all goes well, we'll be releasing next week. So Xbox One fans will have a slightly longer wait for their fill of Porsche, but after waiting this long after the original PC release, what’s an extra week or so anyway?! [via Assetto Corsa forum]
  19. Blizzard Mountain Expansion The first Forza Horizon 3 expansion pack, teased earlier this month by means of no more than a glimpse at a tyre parked on a snowy surface, has been named and info about what players can expect from its purchase revealed. The 'Blizzard Mountain' expansion is coming out on December 13th and is bringing with it a first for the Forza series – snow and ice. This expansion will have players fighting blizzards and tackling huge elevations in their goal to become the King of the Mountain. Set on a snowy mountain playground with extreme alpine conditions, players will explore the new environment which contains an extreme sports snow park and a massive frozen lake within its boundaries, in eight new vehicles, including the 2016 Ford GYMKHANA 9 Focus RS RX and a new brand new Barn Find to seek out. Blizzard Mountain Vehicles 2016 Ford GYMKHANA 9 Focus RS RX 1965 Ford F-100 Flareside Abatti Racing Trophy Truck 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Group 4 1985 Lancia Delta S4 Group B 2016 Nissan Titan Warrior Concept 2016 RJ Anderson #37 Polaris RZR-Rockstar Energy Pro 2 Truck 2016 Subaru #199 WRX STI VT15r Rally Car Race events have been specially designed to be rather gnarly and enhance the chance of those playing shouting out 90s lingo such as ‘radical’ and ‘cowabunga’. (what am I on about?!) Outside of the main events there are bonus boards to destroy and beauty spots to enjoy. Along with the ability to put a new available upgrade of snow tyres onto any vehicle to confidently tackle the new road conditions. A new batch of 28 Achievements worth 500 Gamerscore will also be able to be gained through the pack, of which you can view below. (shame there isn’t one for skidding through a barrier during an event and crashing down the mountain in my opinion) Blizzard Mountain Achievements Welcome to Base Camp 10 Open the Blizzard Mountain Festival. 20. Premium Price At Its Apex PC players finally got Forza on their platform with the release of the free-to-play Forza Motorsport 6: Apex for Windows 10 back in September. Apex was the first of the highly-acclaimed Forza series’ of games to hit PC, closely followed with Forza Horizon 3 a couple of months later. Apex has been getting some updates hear and there, with the latest helping with performance issues and bringing even more wheel compatibility to the title. Apart from this it’s been fairly quiet on how the game will be expanded with new content and how. Being free-to-play it is a no brainer that real money will be involved in some way and the release of Apex Premium Edition (let’s call it APE for short) is what Microsoft have come up with. So what is so Premium about this version and why should you go APE? Well for starters, for the small price of about 25% of a normal Forza Motorsport you will receive 1 track pack and 2 car packs with 7 cars each, making for a massive 14 cars added to your virtual garage. A lot less than the amount that the standard game on the Xbox One delivers. The track pack contains none other than the legend that is the Nürburgring and has the Nordschleife, GP Circuit and the 24Hour layout which is a layout made up when the previous two are combined, making for one hell of a road roller-coaster. All layouts are available in day, night and wet making the pain of the price perhaps that bit easier to swallow. Full contents of what buyers will get for their money is shown below: Forza Motorsport 6: Apex Premium Edition Power to Weight Car Pack (7 Cars) 2016 Ford Mustang GT350R 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 2013 SRT Viper GTS 2013 Caterham Superlight R500 2013 KTM X-Bow R 2014 BAC Mono Hyper Endurance Car Pack (7 Cars) 2016 #66 Ford Racing GT LeMans 2013 #91 SRT Motorsport GTS-R Viper 2016 Nissan #1 NISMO MOTUL AUTECH GT-R 2014 Mazda #70 SpeedSource Lola B12/80 2015 Koenigsegg One:1 2012 Hennessey Venom GT 2013 Lamborghini Veneno Nürburgring Track Pack Nürburgring Nordschleife GP Circuit Full Circuit (24H Layout)
  21. Forza Horizon 3 PC Demo Is Here! They said a Forza Horizon 3 PC demo would come after release and they were right, as it has just become available on the Windows Store. Yes we repeat, the Forza Horizon 3 PC demo is OUT NOW! Already deemed to be one of the best racing games ever, the third in the Horizon series is the first to make its way onto the PC and it does so in fantastic style. With the extra horsepower available, the graphics are crisper and the frame rates are faster, as well as increased wheel support over Microsoft’s own gaming console. (yeah makes perfect sense that one??) So if you have not bought into the hype and glowing opinions from many a player and reviewer, now is the time to try it out for yourself and see what the whole fuss of a glorious recreation of an environment that takes the best parts of Australia and allows you to drive around it in hundreds of different vehicles, which you can modify and tune to make them as unique as you would like, is all about. And do not forget those amazing screens you can take too. What you waiting for? Go get it now! Forza Horizon 3 PC Demo - Windows Store
  22. Forza Horizon Alpine² It is the beginning of a brand new month and that means some new motors for the latest Forza must be due. Well it is and in fact it is available today! The ‘Alpinestars Car Pack’ brings seven new cars to Forza Horizon 3 including a most-requested drifting legend, a circuit-smashing Viper, a classic Aussie muscle and a Talbot Sunbeam for all the odd fellows and lassies that are out there. :p (it is Lotus tuned mind) Forza Horizon 3 – Alpinestars Car Pack 2017 Acura NSX 1998 Nissan Silvia K’s 1990 Mazda Savannah RX-7 1967 Ford Falcon XR GT 2016 Dodge Viper ACR 2016 BMW M4 GTS 1979 Talbot Lotus Sunbeam Out now, the DLC is available as part of the 'Forza Horizon 3 Car Pass' or as a standalone purchase. [gallery type=rectangular" size="small-post-image" link="file" ids="5744,5749,5748,5747,5746,5745,5750] Forza Horizon 3 - Expansion 1 Tease But wait!! We were also given a sneak peek at what the first of the two expansion packs aims to deliver... Snow! "Theeee hillllls are alive with the sound of screaming V12!!" That’s right, winter is coming to Australia in what is actually the summer due to it being located in the southern hemisphere, but we can ignore that as the image above showing a Lamborghini Centenario caked in the white stuff is just too good to ignore. Don’t forget that you can buy a ‘Forza Horizon 3 Expansion Pass’ to get discounted access to the two expansions, or for those who bought the Ultimate Edition then you will be ecstatic to hear that a small discount is available on the pass until the end of this year. 23. Police to Meet You The roads of Australia are about to get even more chaotic, exotic and perhaps even more respectful with the release of 'The Smoking Tire Car Pack' for Forza Horizon 3. Featuring what we would call a quite fantastic selection of seven new-to-Forza vehicles, this first main DLC pack for the game is going to be a popular one. Within its line up are hypercars, supercars, sportscars, a wily off-roader and even the de facto Police cruiser – complete with optional light bar and siren! https://youtu.be/64srpn7V4BU Whoever is collating these lists of cars for release and inclusion keep at it as you are SMASHING IT!! Starting with the Aston Martin ‘Vulcan’ the auto-makers entry into the continually growing hypercar market you may be expecting something with pointy ears and a logical way of working. Well it does look kind of alien-like but in fact this Vulcan is in homage to the British bomber aircraft of the same name. [caption id=attachment_5576" align="alignnone" width="800] 2016 Aston Martin Vulcan in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] Only 24 of these track-only (boo!) vehicles will be built and if you watched the episode of Top Gear where Chris Harris drove the nuts off one, you will know that its 800 hp V12 screams ferociously. Next up is the lightweight tarmac rocket of the Lotus 340R and you just know from the pedigree of the brand that this car will eat up turns and stick to the tarmac like a super-glued frog to a bus. (huh?) If the Vulcan is out of your price range but you still want something that will blow your mind on the track then this is one of the best vehicles out there to scratch that itch. [caption id=attachment_5581" align="alignnone" width="800] 2000 Lotus 340R in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] Looking more like the legendary Zonda with every new iteration that comes, the Pagani Huayra BC is now looking like it should have done from day one (imo). It’s shape and looks have always been a bit of a love or hate thing and its sound is a far cry off from the ear-pleasing stabbing that the Zonda produced. Nonetheless the BC named after Benny Caiola (I hate Bennys because of Carlito’s Way) who was one of the first customers of Pagani and close friend of Horatio (YEEEEEAAAAHHHHHHH! not that one) will see only 20 models produced. [caption id=attachment_5582" align="alignnone" width="800] 2016 Pagani Huayra BC in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] With all those racing around at high-speed and with no regard for the inhabitants of the virtual lands it seems only right that some Johnny Law makes an appearance. Whether players choose to go unmarked or all out in full police branding, the choice is theirs as brilliantly Playground Games have provided an optional bumper, light bar and siren for players to live out there nofunallowed.jpg fantasies! [caption id=attachment_5578" align="alignnone" width="800] 2010 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] GTA Spano, no it’s not the title of the next Grand Theft Auto but instead a Spanish automaker who decided to create their own supercar and with a top speed of 230mph it looks like they did a decent job. With looks that are different enough not to be called out as copying from others but with typical lines that you will find in other makes, the Spano is making quite the entrance. [caption id=attachment_5579" align="alignnone" width="800] 2016 GTA Spano in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] The ‘Ultimate Driving Machine’ is the tagline of BMW and rightly so as they are brilliant drivers. Well the cars and their handling are not so much those sitting behind the wheel. Reviews for the M2 Coupe are very positive, in fact the M2 gets compared to the original E30 M3 and when you see them together you will know why. Piloting this thing through the roads, fields and in the air should be a lot of fun. [caption id=attachment_5577" align="alignnone" width="800] 2016 BMW M2 Coupé in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] With all that openness that is available it makes perfect sense to have a dedicated off-roader that can climb the steep inclines, tackle the uneven terrain and speed across the sandy beaches and the Jeep CJ5 Renegade is here to make that happen. With customisation this could turn out to be a real gem for everything you wish to do off the tarmac. [caption id=attachment_5580" align="alignnone" width="800] 1976 Jeep CJ5 Renegade[/caption] The Smoking Tire Car Pack for Forza Horizon 3 is available now and is included for those with the Car Pass.
  24. €xpan$$ion Pa$$ Forza Horizon 3 has not long been out and despite being the biggest game of the Horizon series it appears that Playground Games and co know that players are never shy of wanting (to pay for) more. Along with the multitude of car packs that will be coming and the expansions that frequent the series, environment size has always been an aspect that didn’t really get any attention. And it is something you won’t hear many players moan about either as long as there is plenty to do and see then extra areas are always welcome, and it looks like Horizon 3 is destined for bigger things. The 'Expansion Pass' looks to follow in the skidmarks of previous games. Whether this will mean more of the same off-map locations seen with the Rally Expansion for Horizon 1, Storm Island for Horizon 2 or perhaps even a new slice of Australia to explore that increases the size of the original map (store icon shows as a map of Australia with expanding arrows) can only be guessed at this time. Either way, as we said, more environment in open-world racers is always welcome and we look forward to see what route Forza Horizon 3 will follow. If they do go for adding an actual new area to the map, how would this work for players who do not have the pass or have purchased that DLC item? Maybe they just see cars driving through a barrier or something. Thinking along these lines you would have to imagine it will likely be more of the same... would very much like to be proven wrong though. One more thing… those of you with the ULTIMATE!!!! edition will not be getting this included in your purchase. You might however get a discount or you could wait until the 42 edition comes out or something. Unfortunately first-party Microsoft will always want you to pay a premium and more. 25. Forza Horizon 3: Car List Reveal Week 1 We're getting ever closer to getting our hands on the much anticipated Forza Horizon 3 in just a little over 9 weeks or 65 sleeps for those who have pre-ordered the ultimate edition. There are a fair few cars that are new to the franchise including some cars that I never thought would make it to Forza. I suppose the recent Turn 10 Select Car Pack for Forza 6 was a hint of things to come? The first round of DLC has already been announced which is something that we really don't like to see. If the content is already made then release it on the disc included with the game! Strong whiff of Activision right there. [caption id=attachment_5073" align="aligncenter" width="1120] This sure does look good fun![/caption] There's also a mention of reward tiers, something that we saw in FM6. So be sure to level up Forza Rewards to reap the benefits of the free cars! But be warned, it's no mean feat to reach tier 10. Be sure to check out the gallery at the bottom of the page for some rather tasty pictures of the cars.
