  7. Carnage Awaits! BeamNG today announced pre-alpha access to their soft-body physics sandbox now called DRIVE. All are welcome to try the limited demo, but BeamNG would rather you spend a little money to join the Alpha testing team. Doing so will give you free updates and access to the developer forums. Currently available in today's alpha build are 5 vehicles and 6 environments. Staff recommend the use of a gamepad or steering wheel, but not keyboards. Click here for controller setup instructions. If all this sounds vaguely familiar, that's because this is the team behind the physics simulation Rigs of Rods. Be sure to try this out and then join the discussion in our forums!

  9. Home is Where the Racing is. The Italian racing circuit "Pierro Taruffi" of Vallenlunga has been revealed and will be included in KUNOS Simulazioni's racing-sim Assetto Corsa due out later this year. I know what you are thinking as I was thinking the same thing, Where? Well there's a good reason for this not well known circuit being in many games but coming to this one and that is that it is the home of KUNOS Simulazioni! Having a research&development studio in a racing track homologated for international races and Formula 1 tests, represents an excellent opportunity by a logistic and commercial point of view. It has allowed the development team of Assetto Corsa to improve its modeling techniques of 3D environments, in order to optimize the data collection on those tracks where timeline and weather conditions are not ideal. Along with this track announcement is a gallery where we also get a good look at the McLaren MP4-12C and it's active-aero in operation at certain points around the circuit. Thanks. Assetto Corsa Dev-blog In screen #15 there is a large ad for the Lamborghini Aventador, is this a hint to future content or just attention to detail of the circuit? Hmmm... 14. XXTREMELY FAST KUNOS Simulazioni is excited to announce yet another Ferrari that's coming to their Assetto Corsa game later this year. This time it's the Ferrari 599XX EVO, the super hardcore track toy for the rich racing enthusiast. As the car is not road-legal, owners can only use it on the track and for the million or two that they have put down for it they get the exclusive pleasure of having Ferrari transport the car to the track and also supply a group of their own engineers and a pit-crew to monitor and set-up the car to the owners liking or for the track itself. If you are not mega-rich then don't worry as Assetto Corsa will give you the opportunity to experience this outrageous car for yourself later this year. This ‘car’ is simply brutal, “nasty”. Vastly different in comparison to other road cars modified to be used in competitions, the 599XX Evo is much more like a prototype. When you see it in action, is difficult to imagine that it comes from a road-legal base. It looks, it drives, it sounds differently to any other car. And it’s an exclusive car, that just few lucky people in the world can drive on track. It’s the same on the virtual side: few racing games include the 599XX Evo, therefore we believe that gamers and car enthusiasts will appreciate our effort to bring this awesome car in Assetto Corsa. 15. Spin Tires - But Only if You Want to Get Stuck in the Mud! Oovee Game Studios have released a new trailer and playable technical demo of what they call "The Ultimate Off-Road Challenge" to garner community support in the form of a KickStarter campaign. Intel award winners from 2009, Spin Tires aims to set you in the late 20th-century beginning in a large Soviet cargo truck with basic navigation aids (such as a map showing landmarks and compass) with delivery jobs to complete. Of course, in order to do this, you will need to plan an appropriate route, avoid getting stuck and running out of fuel. A key feature being demonstrated is the ground deformation (which hasn't been of this much focus since Sega Rally was released back in 2007), which will ensure unpredictability and extended replayability. Now available is a technical demo that is without gameplay elements, but allows players to try out the new 'VeeEngine', developed from scratch and based on Havok vehicle physics (also used in V-Rally and Test Drive Unlimited). Visit Oovee's website for more details and to download the technical demo. Be sure to share your feedback on the forums. 16. Outrun the Pack! Kunos Simulazioni have confirmed that the Ferrari 458 GT2 will be coming to their eagerly-anticipated simulation-racer Assetto Corsa on it's release which is due sometime later this year. They have also released some rather nice screenshots of the car from the game for us to gawp at and drool over. [gallery size=gallery-thumbnail" itemtag="div" icontag="span" link="file" columns="5]
  17. 19. Wolfenstein: The New Order revealed - GameSpot.com What's eye-brow raising about this is that the game is being developed by a number of those behind the Chronicles of Riddick and Darksiders games. :hmmm:

Eutechnyx today announced that the free-to-play online racing game Auto Club Revolution has successfully completed its open beta test phase and is now officially in full live status. The game and car community which was designed to deliver a full featured, fully licensed racing game experience designed around a free-to-play business model has been in ‘beta test’ since March 2012. The test phase allowed the game’s design teams to collect a huge amount of feedback from the game’s large and dedicated test community, which was combined with billions of empirical data points to optimize the user experience and deliver the compelling, fun experience the game offers today. To celebrate the commercial launch of Auto Club Revolution, the team has launched a dynamic new rebrand released to herald the shift in status and featuring a brand new logo. During the game’s beta phase, Auto Club Revolution players have experienced world exclusive collaborations with key partners in the motoring industry, for example Continental Tires and BMW M Sport, as well as showcasing upcoming racing talents like Lotus’ Formula 3 star, Marvin Kirchhöfer, with many more to follow. Eutechnyx Chief Commercial Officer, Darren Jobling said, “From the initial closed beta launch right through to our commercial release we’ve been taking our lead from the game’s beta test players adding and changing features accordingly, don’t expect this to change now that we’re in commercial release. Our teams have long term plans for new content, new features and new initiatives which will cement Auto Club Revolution’s position at the top of the pile.” With over 2.5 million races having taken place, Eutechnyx will release a one-off special voucher code to all beta participants to unlock an exclusive ‘ Auto Club Revolution’ paint scheme. 21. Got It Uncovered GRID 2 has less than a month now to it's release day (wow time flies!) and they haven't been shy in throwing out the videos the last few weeks to show players what is coming their way when it does. Impressively, Codemasters have been live-streaming the game on it's twitch.tv channel, answering questions submitted via twitter and the live chat accompanying the stream as well as uploading the recording to youtube and their facebook for those who may have missed it. So what do we have on offer then, well we got plenty of videos showing off some of the tracks, another showing the time attack aspect of the game and another showing some of the customisation you guys will be able to do to your car. Some of these you can see below but for the full inventory be sure to check out the GRID 2 Youtube and watch what you want to your little hearts content.
  22. Mmmonza! Simbin have announced that the infamous Monza racing circuit will be coming to RaceRoom Racing Experience in the very near future and will be available in two layouts. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is the home of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix and is one of the fastest circuits in the world where drivers will find themselves running at full throttle for 80% of the lap due to its long straights and sweeping turns, and yet at the same time is extremely testing on brakes with low-speed chicanes where braking a few metres early or late could easily cost you time or even the race. Monza is always a circuit people love to see in their racing games so the fact it's coming to R3E is no real surprise but it is most certainly welcome that is for sure. 23. M The countdown to the release of GRID 2 gets shorter but the wait certainly doesn't get any easier when you have trailers like this being put out. This latest one is all about the epic line of 'M' cars from BMW and as you would expect all the goodies are shown in what is actually quite a sedate trailer considering what you would expect and has come in past media for the game. It's actually refreshing to watch each car be 'introduced' one-after-another with the occasional action scene to showcase the style of play that will be most evident in the game. GRID 2 is coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and will launch from the 28th May.
  24. Oh Lord, won't you license me a Mercedes-Benz Slighty Mad Studios (SMS) have recently announced on their WMDPortal website that they have licensed some of the very best that Mercedes-Benz has to offer both now and from the past. As any car fanatic will know, Mercedes-Benz has a very popular history in not only racing but also with their road cars and as you would expect the team at SMS will be bringing the cream of the crop to Project CARS (pCARS). With legends such as the 300SL W194, the much loved Sauber C9 and - my personal favourite - the 190E 2.5-16 Evolution 2 DTM and more there is going to be something for every type of motorsport (ok except for F1) fan from Le Mans to Touring Cars. That's not all of them of course and it won't just be racers only as two road cars are also going to be included in the SLS AMG and the A45 AMG.
