  1. OZ ABOUT THAT THEN! It looks like Playground Games and Turn 10 are onto an absolute winner with Forza Horizon 3 as when the reviews came flooding in they were mainly all glowing. Running at a MIGHTY 90 in the superior Opencritic scoring and currently sitting with a 91 at Metacritic, the game looks to have done everything the previous instalments did so well and expanded on those areas the fans wanted seen to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD1ccSM9qiA Bigger environment is a check, wide-body kits is a check, better campaign progression is a check and the main one of all – having a Reliant 3-wheeler in the game gets the biggest tick of them all! Throw in the supremely creative 'Drone' mode and you got a studio that not only looks at what their players want, but has a look around at the world and considers what they might ask for next. Early media from those lucky enough to have gotten their hands on the game is looking incredible and the impressions, well they cannot help but rave about it. As a racing game mental case, I have always seen the Forza games as the Xbox system seller, and now for the first time for the 'Horizon' series, the game will also be available for those PC fellows and lassies by way of Windows 10. Not only that, buy the ‘Play Anywhere’ Digital Edition and the game will be available on both platforms for the one price. Going that route however will mean losing out on a physical plastic case so that might be a problem for the hoarders or those who emphatically like to fill shelves. Looking like one of the best racers ever those with pre-orders are set for a fun (clean) time and those sitting on the fence have probably had their doubts taken away with the landslide of review media now out there. The only ones who really have a tough choice to face are those who want the game but either don't have an Xbox One, or will need to upgrade their system in order to play it. Now that's a doozy! Forza Horizon 3 - Review round-up The following reviews are for the Xbox One version Opencritic | Metacritic evo - No score just a damn fine write-up from the car people. GamesRadar - 4/5 Eurogamer - No score, just an informative read USgamer - 5/5 Destructoid - 9/10 Videogamer - No score (waiting for online play before scoring) TechRadar - Play It Now! Trusted Reviews - 5/5 Expert Reviews - 5/5 Of course there are your usual outlets such as IGN, GameSpot and others but the above are ones I personally look to more than those. Hell the evo one alone would be enough to sell us on the game! A little addition from myself: It's not hard to see that we are big Test Drive Unlimited fans here at turboduck and it seems kind of fitting that the game which released in 2006 and received a lot of adoration from fans of the driving and racing genre for what it offered is, 10 years later, about to see a title do the same thing and on those exact same platforms too. Seems nuts it took this long but it just goes to show how ahead of its time the original TDU really was. Some got close, but they fell short in some ways but Horizon 3 looks set to do it. Just hope the next one to carry it on isn't until 2026!! Excited for Forza Horizon 3? Got your pre-load already under way and just waiting for the day you can start playing? Looking for a place that enjoys their driving and racing games and enjoys sharing their media and opinions about them? Well come on in and join us on the forums and enjoy the warm laid-back and slightly insane community that we are known for, here at turboduck.
  2. Steam is having a sale if you don't have civ 5 goty it's currently on a massive reduction. Here in Canada it's only 75% off, so it appears to change depending on your location. [ATTACH]27161[/ATTACH]
  3. Hey friends, Battlefield 4 can be 50% off this weekend for you if you download it on Origin and check out using the code ORIGIN50 (thanks to friends on Reddit for giving me this information) You may want to take advantage of this deal as all of the BF4 DLC is FREE, yeah you heard me FREE for the weekend! (offer ends Monday the 19th).
  4. The Crew Goes Free Starting yesterday, anyone with a Uplay account could dive on over to the Ubisoft Club website and download the PC version of The Crew for free. Since our post last week about this happening however, it appears a few things have changed or have been clarified. The full game is what is provided and players get to keep it as long as they download before the offer ends on October 11th, 2016. Unfortunately what was interpreted as all the DLC that had been released for the game up to now being included, due to the original video with Community Developer, Soufyane Brahimi specifying that the game would be offered “with all the content we've been adding in the past two years” is now not the case. As this seems to have changed to only be the FREE content, and if this was always the case it would seem kind of redundant to state this. So it is more than likely it was either never intended to be that way or things changed for the actual offer itself, which ends 3 days earlier than originally stipulated too. Though as bothersome as that is, there is still a full game being given away for nothing and the environment size, multitude of activities and time that can be passed just racking up the miles (as long as you develop a feel for the handling that works for you) is certainly worth the zero cost. It costs nothing and it's well worth a try, so be sure to grab your copy before the offer's end date.
  5. Free The Crew Ubisoft have revealed that, as part of their 30th Anniversary celebrations, The Crew will be available to download for FREE from September 14th. The massive and open online racer is the first game from Ivory Tower who is staffed by many of the former team who made the Test Drive Unlimited games as well as those from other great names of racing. Set in a scaled down representation of the United States, the game provides plenty for players to do and see with many challenges to attempt and best as well as side missions to complete. Since release the game has had a number of new vehicles released for it, seen bikes join in the fun and received a huge update that overhauled the visuals and introduced weather. There was also the Wild Run expansion, again delivering a plethora of new vehicles and introducing the 'Summit' competition where players could participate in events and challenges to win even more new machinery. And all of this appears to be included, as stated above by The Crew Community Developer, Soufyane Brahimi. The support doesn’t stop there either, as in November the new ‘Calling All Units’ expansion is due out, bringing with it new vehicles and new play modes where being the cop or running from them is the objective. It's something the community has asked for so it will be interesting to see how well it is handled and if it will turn out to be as good as past games that have done this dynamic well. And once you have the game, it's yours. There is no limited time to enjoy or anything. Now that is pretty damn sweet. To get your copy, head over to ubisoftclub.com/ubi30 (Uplay login) from next Wednesday and be sure to grab it before October 14th!
  6. Forza PC Wheel Support Big news for the Forza PC contingent as Forza Motorsport 6: Apex on Windows 10 leaves Beta and enters full release and brings with it, WHEEL SUPPORT!! And this same support will also be forthcoming to the give me it directly into my veins Forza Horizon 3. Available now, the near 100MB update will enable support in Apex for the following wheels: Logitech G27 Racing Wheel Logitech G25 Racing Wheel Logitech G29 Racing Wheel Logitech MOMO Force Feedback Racing Wheel Thrustmaster T300RS Thrustmaster T500 RS Gaming Wheel Logitech G920 Xbox One Wheel Thrustmaster T150 Thrustmaster TX Xbox One Wheel Thrustmaster TMX Xbox One Wheel Thrustmaster RGT Force Feedback Racing Wheel How good is that?! The Logitech G25 and G27 have a long history of being exceptional wheels for PC racing enthusiasts and to see it being supported really will put a smile on a lot of faces. So go grab a duster and some polish and clean that bad boy down! The wheel... of course... not... anyway! The support doesn’t just end at the wheel and pedals either, no, Turn 10 have done the support right and also enabled H-pattern shifters for the Logitech models listed above, except for the G29 which will get to join the manual shift party at a later date. (no date has been mentioned as to when this will be) The absence of Fanatec is not for long either as products such as the ClubSport V2 Xbox One Hub and the CSR models will see their support coming to Apex beginning in late September. Note that there are additional wheels that we plan on bringing on board soon, notably Fanatec products such as the ClubSport V2 Xbox One Hub and the Fanatec CSR models. Support for these Fanatec wheels will be arriving in Apex beginning in late September. - Brian Ekberg It also appears that more support for other makes and models will come in the future: We will be adding additional support for H-pattern shifters from other manufacturers in the future. - Brian Ekberg Now how about getting rid of the stupid proprietary nonsense in regards to wheel support on console Microsoft and Sony, huh? 7. Garage Week 6 is cushty! This Forza Horizon 3 Garage Week - exclusively being revealed by French website caradisiac - is the last but don't let that fool you into believing that this is where the lemons of the game have been stashed away as that's not the case at all. In fact the spotlighted cars will have you rolling in... well not style, but it certainly will have you rolling either on your side or maybe your roof as the lovable little Reliant Supervan III has been unleashed. For those of us in the British isles the image below will instantly (quiet kids) stir up an image of a famous duo from the brilliant BBC comedy ‘Only Fools and Horses’, starring Rodney and Del Boy who used the vehicle to sell their wares and conduct dodgy business from. So you can bet there will hardly be any time passed before a replica livery finds its way up with the famous New York, Paris and Peckham painted on the side. [caption id=attachment_5425" align="alignnone" width="800] Sitting on 3-wheels but for how long?[/caption] The more modern recognition by people will come from the iconic Top Gear episode where Clarkson kept tipping over one of the Supervan’s smaller brethren of the Robin. So it is of little wonder to imagine just how players will treat this on the roads and open world terrain of the virtual Australia found in the game. Although, if I had to guess, something along the lines of ‘hilarity ensues’ would be the expectation. Keeping in with the great for transporting goods theme, the other main reveal for this week is the Ford Super Deluxe Station Wagon, with ‘Deluxe’ seeming to mean being made out of wood. This mobile wardrobe on wheels is powered by a V8 chipping out 100BHP, sits on some stylish white wall tyres and comes complete with a roof rack for carrying that all important surfboard. It is going to be fun to see what can be done with and to these two unique vehicles and I really think it is great that there is a team out there who think not only about the powerful, the best and the most demanded but also the out there, the wth and the are you serious! types that hardly ever get a look in. Playground Games certainly ain’t no plonkers, they're just bonkers! Here’s the rest of this week’s roster. 8. The Crew vs The Precinct Now this was unexpected. A cops and runners type expansion is coming to The Crew this November called ‘Calling All Units’. Being that the title has a vast open world environment to play in, it makes sense for this to happen, but there was no indication that it would, and the ability to play as the Police has been an often asked request on the official forums and elsewhere. So it does appear that the devs are listening. Announced with a trailer where someone called Zoe informs your character Alex of what is going on, so there will be some sort of story to give a direction to proceedings we guess, interspersed with views of a pursuit version of the Koenigsegg Agera R and accompanied by a release of the details with a mention of more info to come in the months ahead, the new expansion aims to pit players against one another where the aim of one side is to literally pit the other. To do so, a new arsenal of police vehicles and abilities will be at your disposal. Need to hunt someone in the busy streets of San Francisco? Step behind the wheel of the new Lamborghini Aventador and don’t forget to use your EMP shocks or to call for a helicopter support! This won’t only be a re-skinning of current vehicles either, as the pack will contain a selection of brand new vehicles that both wannabe officers and unscrupulous sorts can use. From the trailer we know the Agera R is going to be one of those to get its police colours and other screens show the F150 Raptor and Hummer H1 kitted out too as well an F12berlinetta avoiding a road block, but there was also a banner update on the game’s Facebook where an Aventador and two newcomers of the KTM 1190 RC8 R, which is making a run for it, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC that is leading the chase. A Jeep Wrangler is also mentioned in the source of this info so that is 4 new vehicles we know of for sure. It’s an interesting mode that will hopefully bring back and continue to keep players within the game and introduce an entirely new way to play the game. We are eager to see what new vehicles will come with this pack too as new toys to play with is always welcome and the fact they may also see police variants is even better. No price has been mentioned, but if ‘The Wild Run’ is anything to go by, it won’t be that cheap. And with the current crop of titles available and those upcoming it will need to make sure it provides plenty of value for the price it asks. [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="small-post-image" ids="5772,5773,5774,5775] The Crew ‘Calling All Units’ expansion is set for a November 29th release date and will be available for PC, Xbox One and PS4. 9. A Range Of Off-Roaders For Your Outback Driving Needs This week we take a look at the best vehicles to tackle the Outback with. From Buggies to 4x4s, these rugged motors are not afraid of Australia's challenging terrain. If you missed last week's Forza Garage you can find that here. 1971 Meyers Manx The original Manx buggy, designed by Bruce Meyers, features a light-weight chassis and fiberglass body with the suspension and engine from a Volkswagen Beetle. A classic go-anywhere vehicle. 2011 Penhall Cholla A destroyer of dunes. The Cholla debuted at the Baja 1000 in 2011 and won in it's class with a four hour lead. Four hours. No matter what the environment throws at the Cholla, it can't be stopped. 1979 Toyota FJ40 The FJ is famous for it's offroad capabilities despite serious competition from Land Rover and Jeep. You may remember this one from the Top Gear Bolivia Special. Of course, Hammond's car was a "convertible" and for the most part broken in various ways. At least in Forza you don't have to worry about it's reliability! So that's this week's featured cars! Below you can find all of the cars announced this week. 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2002 Ferrari 575M Maranello 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth 2013 Ford Focus ST 1973 Ford Escort RS1600 1971 Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III 2014 Ford Fiesta ST 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Race Truck 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 1986 Lancia Delta S4 2009 Lexus IS F 1957 Maserati 300 S 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata 1967 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series 1971 Meyers Manx 2012 MINI John Cooper Works GP 1998 Nissan R390 1979 Opel Kadett C GT/E 2011 Penhall Cholla 1971 Plymouth Cuda 426 Hemi 2015 Polaris RZR XP 1000 EPS ROCKSTAR EDITION 2013 Ram Runner 1993 Renault Clio Williams 1990 Subaru Legacy RS 1996 Subaru SVX 1979 Toyota FJ40 2005 TVR Sagaris 1990 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton
  10. Forza Horizon 3: Garage Week 2 The weekly Wednesday is upon us again and so is the second installment of the Forza Garage where Turn 10 tease us with more cars. If you missed last weeks announcement, don't fear because it's just a click away. Click. This week they're sticking to the Australian theme from last week, if you ignore about 97% of the cars announced so far... You've surely seen the Holden Maloo already, it's the big green beast at the top of the page and it comes with a whopping 580bhp. Surely enough to give you... problems. 11. No Man's Sky Pillar Trailers As the release of No Man's Sky crawls ever so closer, Sony have been releasing a series of trailers that give you a glimpse of the 4 basic areas of the game. Explore, Fight, Trade and Survive. There are just 19 more sleeps left till the game hits the stores on August 10th in Europe or the 9th in good old 'Murica. First up is the Explore trailer which you may have seen in my previous article may not have seen in my previous article a couple of weeks back, turns out my memory is getting cloudy in my old age, this trailer hadn't even been released back then! But if not, then for your viewing pleasure, here it is again. Next up is the second trailer which gives you an insight into the different ways in which you can fight in No Man's Sky. There sure are some odd looking creatures out there in the Universe, that's for sure. But judge for yourself. And last(for now) but not least is the trade trailer. This is the type of game play that I can see myself leaning towards thanks to my e-hoarding inclinations. Update 27 July The fourth, and probably final Pillar trailer is below in it's full 60 second glory. The theme for this is, yes, you guessed it, Survive. If you didn't get it then I think you should go and sit on the naughty step for a while and think about what you have done. Your Universe Awaits.
  12. BeamNG.drive 0.6 Update Released It's been a while but the guys behind BeamNG have released another BIG update to the game and as usual it features a whole host of new features, cars, props, bug fixes and general improvements relating to the user interface, game physics etc. Highlights New vehicle, ETK I Series Range of new modifications to current cars including an articulated truck trailer Vehicle coupler. I mean, who doesn't want to stick trailers to their cars to make crashes more spectacular? Replay system, still an experimental feature but now you can get multiple different views of your "incidents" A new thermal system applied to the brakes Further improved physics for a wide range of things If you're new to BeamNG, have a look at the short video below which showcases some of the things that you can do in the game. [embed]http://blog.beamng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/webm.webm[/embed] Here is the new car in the update, the ETK I series. Really takes me back to the 80's before I was born, the memories have come flooding back. Couplers - That shiny new articulated trailer that you have? Now you can couple it up to the T-series truck and wreak some havoc with the gung-ho AI drivers. Or just try to drift it around an obstacle course, whatever floats your boat. Last but not least is the new replay system. Bare in mind that this is still an experimental feature so you can't expect it to work properly all of the time. But it's still something that you can now play around with to get action shots of your favourite, or unfortunate mishaps! As usual, the list of updates is far far too big to post here so hop on over to the BeamNG website for all of the nitty gritty details. 13. Ferrari 488 GT3 It's been a few days since there's been anything heard from the Assetto Corsa team, but now, one day before the pack release itself, the fifth car model of the nearly here 'Red Pack' has been revealed, and it is another Ferrari. Meaning a minimum of three prancing horses will be in amongst the seven Italian examples that will be included with the new DLC. With the addition of the 488 GT3, the already impressive variety of GT cars will be boosted even more and it is something Kunos themselves seem quite proud of. "Our GT2/GT3 grid will be one of the most complete in the genre and a step forward in providing the best GT experience ever!" The car which was brought in to replace the 458 - that is also represented in the game - has divided opinion just like it's predecessor. Some like it, others think the front looks 'unfinished' but there is always one thing you can be certain of with mid-engine road cars from Ferrari, and that is that they handle supremely well. And when they then take that road going model and turn it into a track runner, things in that area get even better. So that's two cars left to reveal of this pack and it is looking like we will learn what they are from the pack itself. Those five that have been given official exposure are the Ferrari 488 GT3, the historic Maserati 250F 6C, the F1 duo of the 2013 Ferrari F138 and the 2015 Ferrari SF15-T and last but not in anyway least, the Lamborghini Aventador SV. The 'Red Pack' is out tomorrow (July 14th) on Steam and available for the consoles later in the year. 14. No Man's Sky Finally Goes Gold No Mans Sky, if you've not heard of this title yet from (former) indie developer Hello Games then where have you been and how did you find a rock big and light enough to live under for the past 2 years? Anywho, I digress, one of my most eagerly anticipated games of the year and possibly decade so far has finally gone gone after a short initial delay. No Mans Sky offers explorers the chance to visit a vast array of planets coming from a pool of over 18 quintilian planets. Yes, that is 18,446,744,073,709,551,616. I'm not even going to try and explain that number, I'll just let you digest it. As you explore through the universe you will come across a vast array of planets that are all unique with differing levels of life, vegetation, resources and buildings. There are even aliens! And when you discover a new life form, your discovery will be stored online so other people who come across that life form will know that you discovered it. Whether or not you will come across somebody elses discovery is another matter. You could even play for years without coming across another fellow human being in game. It really is just that big. Something to look forward to after the initial release is the possibility of Virtual Reality support. There have been rumours running about for over a year that No Man's Sky may eventually get VR support. This would definitely be up there with Dirt Rally for VR support. Exploring has never been so easy. What are you waiting for, get ready with your snacks of choice to go exploring far flung worlds whilst sat in your pants in the comfort of your living room. Life has never been so good, not that its something that I would do myself though... Roll on August 9th/10th. 15. F1 Ferrari V8 The boys and girls behind Assetto Corsa must be in amazing moods as their latest preview of what's next in line for the 'Red Pack' is something real special yet again. As if it wasn't enough to thrill us by announcing that the Ferrari SF15-T 2015 season car was coming to the 'Red Pack'. Now they have gone and unveiled another Scuderia Ferrari that will be making its way in to the DLC that releases on July 14th. And this time it's a V8 from 2013! The last of the Ferrari V8s in fact, before they went to the (strimmer/weed whacker sounding) turbos, driven by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. The trailer to accompany the announcement, simply titled Introducing the Ferrari F138, shows the car doing a flying lap round the Silverstone GP circuit. And even though we knew this one was coming after some clips of it were included in the console announcement trailer from the start of this year, it is still impressive that the team has decided to pack so much ultimate into this one pack. After all, having two authentic F1 Ferrari cars in a simulation racer is like the holy grail for many racing enthusiasts, and from how Kunos is going about in assembling the machinery to be included in this pack, we really cannot wait to see what else is still to come. The Red Pack is shaping up nicely with the confirmed inclusion of the Maserati 250F 6C, Lamborghini Aventador SV, Ferrari SF15-T and now this second F1 Ferrari. Meaning there is three models remaining out of the seven we have been told are due.
  16. Oculus VR Support Coming to Dirt Rally Next Week There aren't any games that I can think of that would suit VR more than Codemasters awesome Dirt Rally. With how immersive the game already is when simply playing with a normal monitor and controller I can't imagine how on the edge you would be in VR. The Oculus support will be added in a regular, run of the mill free patch on Monday 11th July. Just 4 sleeps for those of you lucky enough to own the Oculus. Now imagine playing this game with VR whilst sat in one of those motion rigs. I for one would struggle to keep my breakfast down!
  17. Fangiotastic! The information just keeps on flooding out in regards to the Assetto Corsa 'Red Pack' that is heading for release next week. Latest to get the spotlight is the Maserati 250F 6C that Kunos Simulazioni gave us a glimpse of in the very first tease for the new DLC. This time the classic Formula One racer gets a full image showcase all to itself, looking excellent as it is let loose on the track, spitting out unburnt fuel as it does so. With great names attached, such as Juan Manuel Fangio and Sir Stirling Moss, the car enjoyed success right from the off, taking the win in its first Grand Prix with Fangio behind the wheel at his home race in Argentina. And with Moss calling it the "the nicest Formula 1 front-engined car to drive" of its era, you know it just had to be something special to receive such high praise from such a legend of the sport. The cars of that time also liked to be on 3-wheels through the turns and with the simulation prowess of AC this will hopefully be seen when players get their hands on the pack. Assetto Corsa: Maserati 250F 6C Images [gallery link=file" columns="4" ids="5040,5041,5042,5043,5044,5045,5046,5047,5048,5049,5050,5051,5052,5053,5054,5055,5056] The Assetto Corsa 'Red Pack' will be available for purchase from Steam on July 14th for PC and will be coming to the console versions later on in the year.
  18. Red Bull Ring The Red Bull Ring is next for the detailing stage of the Assetto Corsa 'Red Pack' release-info-about-athon and inevitably the circuit is receiving the full laser scanned treatment in order to deliver an accurate rendition. Founded as the Österreichring, the circuit was host to the Austrian Formula One Grand Prix for 18 consecutive years from 1970-1987. Later it was shortened, rebuilt and was given the new name of A1-Ring, where under this new guise it became host of the Austrian GP from 1997-2003. With F1 outgrowing the track, plans were put in place and work started on extending the layout but construction stopped, the track fell into neglect and remained unusable until its owners Red Bull began a €70m reconstruction in late 2008, ending with and giving us the Red Bull Ring. The track opened again to professional racing with a visit from the DTM in its 2011 season and the championship has revisited every year since. Formula One also made its return, bringing the Austrian Grand Prix back to the F1 racing calendar after a ten-year absence with the Red Bull Ring's inclusion in the 2014 season. It would appear then, that this place has quite a history. The track will feature along with seven car models, some of which have already been confirmed: Maserati 250F, Lamborghini Aventador SV and the Ferrari SF15-T Formula 1. Assetto Corsa - Red Bull Ring Images [gallery link=file" columns="4" ids="5020,5021,5022,5023,5024,5025,5026,5027,5028,5029,5030,5031,5032,5033,5034,5035] The Red Pack DLC will be available to purchase July 14th on Steam and will be coming to consoles later in the year. Assetto Corsa is out now on Steam PC and will be released on console on August 26th in Europe and August 30th in North America.
  19. Assetto Corsa - Red Pack Tease Not taking much time to soak in the heaps of praise and adulation people have been throwing at Kunos Simulazioni after announcing that Porsche was coming to Assetto Corsa, the devs are back to teasing what else they have planned. Going by the game's official Facebook, this new downloadable content (DLC) for Assetto Corsa will be called the 'Red Pack' and will be out on July 14th. A couple of images of two of the vehicles that will be included was also shown as a small tease. Beginning with the gorgeous red Maserati 250F. This car was raced by two of the most famous names in motor-racing history: Juan Manuel Fangio and Sir Stirling Moss. With Fangio helping make the cars presence in motorsport felt immediately when it won its first race at the 1954 Argentine Grand Prix. An eyeful of orange (well you need red to make it I suppose) Lamborghini Aventador SV is next, and subtlety is most definitely not the case with this raging bull. With it's low and aggressive stance, sharp sticky out bits and huge rear wing, this thing wouldn't look out of place in Carmageddon mowing down cattle and scaring grannies! Powered by a thunderous V12 pumping out 740 bhp, a 0-60 time of less than 3 seconds and a sub 7 minute lap of the Nordschleife, this mad Lamborghini doesn't mind being on the road or the track. Speaking of track, Licensing Project Manager Marco Massarutto shared an in-game image of the Red Bull Ring, the latest addition to the game's already quite impressive circuit library. Interestingly the focus of this image seemed to be on a DRS marker. Does this hint to a modern Formula 1 car coming with this pack? If so there shouldn't be too long to wait before finding out. 20. Porsche Coming to Assetto Corsa More and more games are starting to pry Porsche away from the cold grip of EAs hands and the next game to do so will be Assetto Corsa, renowned for its incredible simulation. Two Porsche packs are expected before the end of the year across PC, Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and it will be the first time that Porsche have been officially included in a simulation racing game for over 12 years. Judging by the video we can expect to see Porsches from all eras across from road going cars, to GT racing and the ultimate LMP machines that will again be showcased at this weekends upcoming Le Mans 24H. We'll keep you updated when we hear more about these upcoming packs.
  21. Formula 1 2016 Coming Soon to a Console Near You With another summer, comes another Formula 1 2016 game. Not a great deal changes year on year with these F1 games but it's still day and night when compared to a certain fishy cash cow. But among the changes is a 10 season career mode that should keep you occupied for the next couple of years if you like to do full length race weekends. With F1 2016 you get all an all new track, Baku, a street circuit in the city of you guessed it, Baku in Azerbaijan. From the screenshots that have been shown, it looks like quite a nice track. The game graphics themselves don't look too shabby either. There is also a new and improved car upgrade and development element to the game that is supposed to mirror the real life development of these mystical machines. Are you up to the task of doing 100+ laps of Circuit de Catalunya? There's no word on when the game is going to release but it will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime later this year. I'd expect it to be released towards the end of the season as is now the norm with these games. But expect to see more of it at E3 in just less than 2 weeks.
  22. Project CARS Free April DLC Project CARS in April will see the Mercedes-AMG GT3 come to players for free later this month, and the GT3-class racer will be the only DLC offering for the game by Slightly Mad Studios for the month. We had already been treated to a number of teases of the vehicle last month, but thanks to the game's official twitter we know that it is now due out on April 15th. This latest Mercedes GT3 racer made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015 as the successor to the mighty SLS GT3, which is already in the game. Chances are you may already have sat behind the virtual steering wheel or virtual carbon wing (you third person drivers) of this car, as is typical in racing games, the car has appeared in a number of other titles such as Assetto Corsa and the PS4 exclusive, DRIVECLUB. Nevertheless you can't have too much of a good thing and with each game having its own spin on how the car performs and handles, it should be fun to run some laps and compare. Project CARS is out now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
  23. Project CARS 365 Days Later In what you might call a feat of cunning brilliance, Slightly Mad Studios have decided on the release date for the recently announced Project CARS 'Game of the Year' Edition as being May 6th 2016. Why do we applaud them for this? Well the original release was back on May 7th 2015, and February of this year was a leap year, therefore the 'GOTY' edition is releasing a year later. Ah yes, now you get it! You can just imagine the meeting where the discussion about the date is being held and one of the team utters 'uhh... why don't we just release it a year later?'. Common sense prevails and give that person a raise I say! Project CARS depending on who you talk to, what reviews on which platform you read and whose videos you check out on Youtube is well loved or patially loathed. However it's not critically acclaimed for no reason and racing fans do enjoy having another racer amongst the ranks of the usual offerings - especially those on console. The post content support has also been well diversified and fairly priced. The free stuff hasn't been the dregs left at the bottom of the developer's computers either; shown with the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG GT3 that will be the freebie of the next update to pCARS' 'On Demand' program. As is customary with an edition like this, all the content released for the original game is included along with extras: The Game of the Year Edition is a celebration and a thank you to the racing community around the world. Featuring all the elements of the original core experience, the Game of the Year Edition also includes an additional: 50+ cars (125 total), 4 tracks (35 unique locations, 100+ layouts total), 60+ community-created liveries, plus two special and exclusive items... The iconic Nurburgring Combined Nordschieife + GP circuit Two Project CARS exclusive vehicles from Pagani – the Zonda Revolucion and Huayra BC unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show Project CARS 'Game of the Year' Edition will be out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 6th 2016. 24. You're Going To Die Today Todd Howard (AKA Game Developer God) discussed the upcoming Survival Mode that is debuting in Fallout 4 in April. The mode is currently in Beta on Steam for those of you PC players out there who wish to give it a go, for those of us on console we are to expect it in April. When? We have no idea, Todd Howard doesn't like release dates. What can you expect in this new mode? Todd laid it out for us: Saving With Sleep - The only way to save the game is to find a bed and sleep for at least an hour. No Fast Travel - You know that settlement across the Commonwealth that's being attacked? You have to walk there, the entire way there. Hardcore Damage - You deal out more damage, but you also take a lot more, stay safe kids. Threats On Compass - They're being removed, so you can literally walk right into a pack of bandits, or that Deathclaw you've been avoiding. Adrenaline - This is a new perk that provides a bonus to damage output by killing things, lots of things. Although sleeping will remove the effect so keep that in mind. Needs - No it's not The Sims, but you will need to eat, sleep and drink to ensure that you stay in fighting shape! Fatigue - Walking is hard, this affects your Action Points - the more fatigued you are, the less you can sprint or use VATS to get those easy kills. Wellness - Crippled limbs are no longer healed by Stimpacks, nor are effects removed by using them. Carry Weight - All ammunition will now weigh you down depending on size of calibre, as well as your legs will give out if you carry too much. Companions - No longer get back up if downed by combat - they run back to a settlement to heal up, wastelanding is hard work. Will you be taking on Survival Mode when it gets released some ambiguous time in April? Let us know below or on the forums! Thanks to Youtube channel Open World Games for the title picture!
  25. Return To Your Roots Hello and welcome to yet another instalment of Open Letters! In this "weekly" column I do one of two things, write an open letter to something relating to news, or I respond to a letter sent in from one of you, the readers! (If you want to send in a question/concern for me to write about, email me at: [email protected]) This week however this article/column/trash-heap is aimed at Game Developers of the Battlefield/Battlefront/Mirrors Edge franchise, DICE. For clarities sake, today we are focusing on the Battlefield aspect of the previous sentence - as many people may be already aware Battlefield 5 was announced back at the end of 2015 and there is a rumour flying around that the franchise will be returning to its roots by taking place during World War I. I'm getting ahead of the curve here let's have a history lesson. (learning is fun!) DICE was founded in 1992 and has been a subsidiary of Electronic Arts since 2004 and have a hefty list of games they've developed including but not limited to: NASCAR Heat*, Battlefield 1942, Midtown Madness 3*, Battlefield 2/3/4, Mirrors Edge/ME: Catalyst, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit*, Medal of Honor (multiplayer), Star Wars: Battlefront *Indicates DICE co-developed this game with another developer Okay the list is huge and I've already made it too big but they've made some of the best games for the past two decades and I'm trying to make a point here that they created Battlefield, which is one of the (if not THE) direct competitor(s) of that other huge FPS series called Call of Duty, developed by Infinity Ward/Treyarch/Sledgehammer Games and financed by Blizzard/Activision. Don't let my ADD drive you off course, this conversation is about Battlefield - specifically about Battlefield 5 which is due out in what is estimated to be October of 2016. And finally, for the love of God finally an FPS game developer has listened to me. With no further ado, my open letter to DICE: Dear DICE, If you are reading this, then first allow me to say - yes I will happily beta test anything you need for the foreseeable future. But that's not what I'm writing to you about, I am writing to thank you for listening to not only me, but what I can only assume is a very large collection of gamers (both male and female) who are incredibly tired of shooters all feeling the same. Call of Duty has gone so far into the future I get the feeling that the next iteration will be World War III including sticks and stones; however you over at DICE have decided to return to the roots of what made these franchises so successful - you're returning to the most fascinating period of history and wartime that exists. World War I/II settings used to flood the marketplace over a decade ago - to be fair many of them still exist however none as popular as what Call of Duty or Battlefield can pull off. I have fond memories of playing the old games with bolt action rifles, running about as hulking tanks drove past to crush the opposition. Ah, nostalgia why do you feel so damn good? Hindsight is not 20/20 however so if you really do intend to bring Battlefield 1914 into 2016 it needs to be incredible, bring back that nostalgia that I had as a kid but revitalize how it feels because I have car payments now. For Battlefield to truly continue to succeed the franchise needs to evolve in the right way and I feel like going back to what you're good at is a great move. I'm sure we have things to look forward to at E3 this year. How do you feel about Battlefield 5 going back in time? Let us know down below - or hop over to the forums, sign on up and be sure to donate your teeth to the growing collection. Image credit: Yibada
