  1. Get Ready to Show Off Your Awesome Driving Skills The next update of Assetto Corsa Early Access will include the multiplayer mode and was previously scheduled for tomorrow’s release; our work in the last two months has been strongly focused to complete and deliver this feature properly. We have also made investments to set several free public servers for our users and a proper lobby for servers created by, users, leagues, sim racing websites and so on. However, due to local 25th April celebrations, we might have some issues to get the best possible support from our Italian based server provider, right on launch day. Multiplayer is one of the most awaited features for a lot of sim racing enthusiasts, but in order to properly test in public the multiplayer mode, we need to get the best technical support possible; for this reason, and also in order to improve multiplayer functionality and to develop some additional features, tomorrow’s release has been shifted to Friday 2nd, May. This delay will allow us to release the multiplayer on a working day, getting fast and proper support by our provider, if needed. We are pretty sure you understand that we are working at our best to provide the best gaming experience we can. Thank you for your kind support and attention.
  2. Looks Like 2014 Will Be The Year of Racing Clubs WMD members actively assisting in the development of Project CARS knew there was another secret project in the works, and that the simulator would benefit from increased income, development staff, and of course extra content because of it. Well the secret's finally out with the announcement of an upcoming arcade racer destined for PC later in 2014. My.com, the largest Internet services community in Russian-speaking countries with a 100 million+ user base, approached Slightly Mad Studios with the aim of adding a new free to compete game to their catalogue. Creative Director Andy Tudor avidly avoided the term 'free-to-play' as gamers see these titles as 'pay-to-win', and Andy assured press that this was not their ethos. About 50 cars are planned for launch, with more content being added later, but how many of those cars will be free remains unknown. All locations will fortunately be available at no cost, similar to Simraceway's model. Fans will be happy to hear that World of Speed shares the glamourous graphics and weather engines found in Project CARS, however 'not a single line of of code' from the simulations' physics engine will be found in the decidedly-arcade title. Developers compared the car-handling to the Burnout franchise and stress players will be able to control the cars using keyboard, gamepad, or steering wheel input. Action Racing World of Speed takes action-styled racing games into a new era by combining features from a large number of previous games in the racing genre. Similarities can be found from titles such as Need for Speed, Burnout Paradise, Destruction Derby, Forza Horizon, DRIVECLUB, The Crew, and so on. Team Racing Compete in an ever-expanding number of gameplay modes where completing team-based objectives determines the victor. Being the first to cross the finish line no longer guarantees your victory; it's all about team-work! Hopefully this means no more first corner rage-quits. Cars Players can earn and collect a continuously growing roster of cars ranging from everyday city runners to the fastest super cars on the planet while housing them in their own custom garage. Performance and visual upgrades add the finishing touches. Clubs Players can team up with friends and other players to form Clubs where they can customize their logos, earn access to a Club garage social hub, compete against other clubs, show off in the Airfield Playground and battle in high-stakes races in Territory Wars. Locations Race across iconic licensed circuits and custom built tracks based of real-world city streets - from tracks like Brands Hatch to the streets of London, Monaco and Moscow. The Future Designed as an evolving online experience World of Speed will be supported with regular updates and the addition of new cars, tracks, gameplay modes and much more for years to come! 3. How Big is 'Pretty Big'? Do you remember the first time you played Test Drive Unlimited all the way back in 2006/2007? How many times did you get lost early on? I wasn't too bad until I got myself into a long police chase which ended up becoming an off-road excursion... by the time I escaped I had absolutely no clue where I was. So no doubt you'd agree TDU1 had quite a large open world for its time. As you would recall, the Millionaire's Challenge required players to complete a lap around the island of O'ahu in under 60 minutes, with competent players able to complete the event in 45 minutes by averaging speeds above 250 kph (150 mph). What is interesting, however, is if you apply some turboduck maths, you can discover that the virtual version of O'ahu is much the same size as in reality. Or if that's too hard, you can always drive around the virtual island at the speed limit and compare the time it takes to what Google Maps suggests. But for the purposes of this article, let's assume that you can drive at an average speed 3 times faster in a supercar inside the game world compared to what the law allows in the real world. Figure 1 - aside from some discrepancies in the shape of the island, the size and scale are close to being 1:1. So nearly 8 years on from TDU1's launch on Xbox 360, let's have a look at what we know about the open world inside The Crew. Late last year, Creative Director Julian Gerighty made a few remarks regarding its size: A coast to coast race in the game, in a high-speed performance car, sticking to the roads is about an hour and a half, but if you want to go off-road, it’s about two hours and a half. We have one race, which is just for those maniacs, it’s not on the main path or anything. It goes around the circumference of the country and it’s a four hour race. WARNING: MATHS CONTENT If you ask Google Maps for directions from Los Angeles to the east coast, it will generally suggest a trip time of 39 hours. If we could drive that distance 3 times as fast, it would take 13 hours. So if the world in The Crew were a 1:1 scale with reality, then its 'coast to coast' race would logically also take ~ 13 hours. Since we know the game world is not to scale, and that the coast-to-coast race takes 1.5 hours, divide 13/1.5 to find the scale. Now we [think we] know that the real USA is 8.666666667x larger than the USA found in The Crew. VISUALISING THE SCALE Figure 2 - a satellite image of America (Google Maps) Figure 3 - an official illustration of the game world from The Crew. Figure 4 - overlaying the game world on top of the satellite image at roughly the same size. Visual discrepancies are much larger compared to O'ahu. Figure 5 - overlaying another copy of the game world image so that it appears scaled down as per the maths above. By now you can see how drastically the developers have had to scale down the USA for The Crew. Figure 6 - It's not all bad news though. Look how relatively large the scaled down map is compared to O'ahu. Figure 7 - in fact, it seems that we can fit O'ahu into the game world 43 times. Of course, all of this assumes our maths isn't floored. :) ONE SMALL PROBLEM Our calculations started off by using the number 39 as the number of hours needed to drive from Los Angeles to the east coast in real life. But have a closer look at Figure 4. The east coast in the game world appears to end near Tennessee on the satellite image. So perhaps the calculation should really be (27 hours/3)/1.5 = a scale factor of 6. So, what do you make of all this? Shall we just stick to saying the game world in The Crew is 'pretty big'? Or do you have your own ideas for calculating the scale. Let us know in the comments below. Don't forget to also visit the forums for more information on The Crew!
  4. What a sixpack! Slightly Mad Studios' Project CARS just keeps growing as Audi has just been announced to become the latest brand to join the community-assisted simulator! As many as six Audis are joining the game, including the latest rendition of their supercar: the 2013 R8 V10 Plus as well as its big brother, the 2013 R8 LMS Ultra GT3, which will challenge the recently announced Bentley amongst other GT3 racers. The 1989 90 IMSA GTO is a beast that could prove to be tough but rewarding to control and it will surely find its own fans. Le Mans heritage is not forgotten as included are both the 2002 R8 LMP900 and the 2011 R18 TDI LMP1, both of which have shown their domination at the track. Last but not least is my personal favourite, the small 2012 A1 Quattro - a 256hp version of Audi's tiny A1 which I'm really eager to test! All of these cars will surely be great fun to drive and they'll be hitting the tracks in Fall 2014 when Project CARS is released for the PS4, Xbox One, SteamOS, Wii U and of course PC. 5. KickStarter and Steam GreenLight In The Works If you don't have Gran Turismo or Project CARS in your gaming collection, chances are you haven't raced virtual karts in a very long time (not counting Mario or Crash Bandicoot kart racing of course). This leaves quite a gap in the market. After a long hiatus, the Melbourne-based developer explains where he's been and where the project is at in a tell-all YouTube video, embedded below. If you've got a suitable gaming PC and enjoy racing karts, keep an eye on KickStarter and Steam Greenlight to support the project and get early access to development builds. -- Sorry but the video has since been made private -- For more information, visit facebook.com/KartSim
  6. To the track sir? WMDPortal has just posted the news that Bentley is being welcomed to Project CARS, the license will result in the inclusion of two of Bentley's more recent racing cars. The most well known of them being the strikingly beautiful 'Speed 8' Le Mans racer, with the other being a GT3 version of their luxury Grand Tourer, the Continental GT. A GT3 version of this car seems a bit strange to myself, but then again if it's stripped out and hard-prepped for the track it could actually be a lot of fun! Project CARS if you still don't know is coming out later in 2014 for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Wii U. Thanks - WMDPortal
  7. Lookout Below! Don't ask me what is arriving 'from the sky' or when we can expect it, but it probably wouldn't hurt to make the occasional glance upwards in-between focusing on the next corner exit. Before you jump onto the track, however, check out hybrid.art's new video trailer, embedded below for your convenience.
  8. Exclusive Cars Made More Affordable; Less Exclusive SimRaceWay is one of those F2P titles that doesn't seem to make a lot of noise in the virtual racing community, possibly due to their other sources of income (selling hardware and involvement in real world racing). This is a bit of a shame, since they offer quite a decent driving experience and in contrast to SimBin's R3E, you get a considerable amount of free content (all tracks and a selection of cars, with varied free test drives each week). SimRaceWay's main controversy was the way they priced their DLC cars (which can also be purchased with in-game credits if you choose to grind enough). In-game prices were proportional to real-world car value, so players could spend up to $38.00 on just one car, and if we have to be brutally honest, the visual presentation of vehicles leaves a bit to be desired when compared to the likes of Forza and Project CARS models. Of course, on the flip side, common cars were less than $1 each. If you are a car connoisseur, you will be happy to hear that SimRaceWay are balancing out the car prices. Under the new scheme, cars will still be priced according to real world value, but only 3 price points exist now, namely $2.50, $5.00 or $7.50. So there are savings up to 80% to be found. Of course, the bad news is that the cheaper cars have their price increased to $2.50. Can't win them all, I guess. Of course, weekly specials will continue as per normal, meaning further savings for patient members. So, should I try this out? If you have a racing wheel and some time to burn, SimRaceWay is worth a look-in. The graphics and sound engine is dated, and having to download content and updates from inside the game instead of pre-downloading everything in advance is somewhat annoying, but after setting up controller settings correctly, the driving experience is rewarding. AI and online opponents are available to race, and both so far have offered enjoyable racing. Every clean lap you complete in any mode will add to your in-game credits which you can spend on any vehicle when you have saved enough. Winning online races and time trials are a faster way to increase your virtual currency. It's also worth noting that SRW employees are very accessible, quick to respond to feedback and are extremely nice to deal with. 9. Take a Third Off The Assetto Corsa Early Access Beta is currently on a Weekend Deal at a discount of 33% off the normal price and will be so until March 10th, so if you are still stupid enough not to have picked it up then for the love of bacon go and buy it NOW!! You will not be disappointed and remember there are constant updates coming for the title before it reaches it's gold standard version 1.0 later this year. Then with the Dream Pack DLC to come shortly after the future is only ever going to get better for AC and you should indeed be a part of that if you love your sim-racing. Assetto Corsa Early Access on Steam
  10. Stay Safe Out There Many an online race ends at turn 1 for most people. Anything from an overzealous racer trying to get their nose into the corner first from last place, to a small lapse in concentration that inadvertently catches others resulting in carnage. So knowing how to drive and race around other people is a big part of actually finishing a race, which as many a real-life racer will tell you... to finish first you first have to finish! Knowing how to drive a car in games can seem rather easy considering how many games are out there that feature racing. Believe it or not, having AI opponents in games is a bonus in knowing how to race properly as they are usually dumb, meaning you have to be aware of what they are doing and might do when you attempt to pass, many online games on the other hand require a bit of knowledge on how to place a car on a track, where to brake and whether going wide or cutting in close is the best way to get the most out of a passing manoeuvre on a capable human opponent. Nowhere is this more important than in many racing simulators, where usually one mistake means an end for your and maybe others' race. If you're having trouble with staying on a track, there are many guides out there to help with driving, consistency and eventually racecraft. None are better than what iRacing.com has online to help new drivers. While mainly tailored to iRacing, it will be a useful guide to anyone who wants to have a competetive fun and a clean race online in any game. Practice Makes Perfect. Have fun racing!
  11. Lucky v0.7 The number 7 is a big favourite for being the lucky number of many people, and with this latest update for the Early Access Beta of Assetto Corsa bearing it you could see why, as it brings with it the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit as well as a F1 style open-wheel racecar in the form of the Lotus Exos T125. Available now owners of the title can update their version and enjoy these two brand new items as well all that comes with the fixes and updates below. Assetto Corsa v0.7 Changelog New car Lotus Exos 125 New upgrade Lotus Exos 125 S1 New track Nurburgring GP Less noisy bodywork sound for GT cars Fixed hotlap penalties always on Friends Leaderboard :: filters lap for hotlap mode Some performance improvements Replay size reduced by 25% Gui now restoring hidden apps on exit Fixed Gui issues on apps Fixed smoke issues on replay Tuned low-level settings for smoke Fixed time attack start Some texture update for Autodromo di Monza Anticipated pit limiter when entering pitlane for Silverstone and Silverstone International race circuits "New" badge in UI cars thumbnails New "special tags" filtering. 12. Pure Raging A couple of new Raging Bulls are the next to join the NFS Rivals cops and racer ranks in this latest DLC for the EA arcade racer, called the 'Concept Lamborghini' the packs contain the (successful?) attempt of recent years to re-imagine the legendary Miura, resulting in the gorgeous Miura Concept. Snorting alongside is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo, a road-going version of the racing variant that participates in what is known as the 'World's Fastest One Make Series' the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo. Packs are available either separately as Cop or Racer with the former containing Pursuit liveries for the vehicles or a Complete Pack where you will get both packs for a discounted price. They should be available now on all relevant platforms so if you're still feeling the Need for Speed and want some new Lamborghini metal to go up against the recent Ferraris and Jaguars that were also released, then here and now is the time to do it! NFS Rivals: Lamborghini DLC Trailer Thanks - needforspeed.com
  13. Ring the Lotus Another update for Assetto Corsa is due this Friday and on their official Facebook they have posted goodies such as a blurred out pic of the Michael-Schumacher-S (keep fighting Michael!) from the Nurburgring Grand Prix circuit and updated their cover to an in-game shot of the Lotus Exos T125, in the past these actions have proven to show what is to come to the title so these latest postings have obviously created much excitement for what may be to come on Friday. We've known that the Nurburgring-Nordschleife is coming later this year via the fan vote but this is the first real indication that the GP circuit would be coming much quicker and it could be dropping on us in the next few days! Even better is it adds to the roster and inventory of the game as it builds its way up to it's final v1.0 release. Accessible F1 The Lotus Exos T125 is essentially an F1 car that those with the ability and cash can purchase, the original intent of the project was to create as close to possible an F1 car, but make it that bit easier to drive and a touch more comfortable due to it's bigger cockpit than your typical F1 car. Powered by a Cosworth 3.8 liter V8 that produces a staggering 640bhp and weighing only 590kg due to a bespoke carbon composite with Nomex and aluminium core chassis with carbon composite panels means a power-to-weight ratio of more than 1000bhp per tonne!! That means this fecker is FAST! The signs are good that these are more than likely coming in the next update so if you want to be in on it then click the link below and get the game now! Those of you already enjoying the title will be able to update the game through the normal means when the update is released. Find out more about the Lotus Exos T125 on the official website. Assetto Corsa: Early Access is available on Steam. Thanks - Assetto Corsa Facebook
  14. Have You Played NGC Yet? Fans are great things. They keep you cool, they add to the immersion of driving a convertible sports car in TDU1, and if you're in the business of making cool stuff they'll even help out with marketing said stuff. Youtube user jaimswallace has done exactly that on behalf of Bugbear Entertainment. Fan-made trailer http://youtu.be/E-rHoxLbKEo Pre-Alpha 2 was released on Steam on February 15, 2014 with a new Figure of 8 track and an extra car, along with some other improvements and fixes, including the free-camera mode used to create the above trailer. First Impressions If you've played any of the previous FlatOut games there is a slight feeling of 'same old' about this title at first glance. However, when you begin playing you realise a lot has been improved in terms of graphics, physics simulation, even the audio is much better than that found in some PS3 exclusive titles that shall remain unnamed. Playing with a Fanatec CSR-Elite wheel and Clubsport v1 pedals, the chosen sedan responds in a predictable and neutral manner. Force feedback responds well, if a little on the light side - I'd like to see bigger FF outputs when plowing into opponents. Clutch and H-shifter support is currently absent, which given the types of featured vehicles is disappointing, and it would be nice to see popular head-tracking API's enabled. All in all, Next Car Game is yet another 2014 racing title that's showing a lot of promise. Be sure to help out the developers (and your console friends) by purchasing this title from Steam; if Bugbear raise enough funds they will get to work on console versions. Next Car Game is currently anticipated to release on PC in Spring 2014. Hopefully with a different name.
  15. I Got the Power! Kunos Simulazioni have released the latest update for Assetto Corsa with v0.6.5, edging us ever closer to the final version. This update brings a new car in the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 and two upgrade packages with the Lotus Evora S Stage 2 and the BMW 1M Stage 3 to players. The full rundown can be seen in the Press Release below. Assetto Corsa Early Access v.0.6.5 has been released today. This version enables the first test of engine damage as well as lot’s of other features and new contents! Although still under development and balancing, gamers can experience engine damages if they downshift too aggressively and over rev the engine, or if they keep the turbo pressure too high on cars that permit turbo boost adjustments ingame (have a go at the BMW Z4 Drift and the new BMW 1M Stage 3 and experiment with keys 1-0 while driving..). This version also includes the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 race car: this is the first McLaren car built for FIA GT series racing since the McLaren F1 GTR finished production in 1997. The 12C GT3 is based on the new MP4-12C high-performance sports car and a team of engineers, designers and test drivers with vast experience in Formula 1 and GT racing has been assembled to undertake the process of adapting the carbon chassis-based 12C to racing specification. Kunos Simulazioni development team had a great opportunity to recreate in great detail this beautiful race car, and we are very excited to see what simracers think about it and what performances they will be able to achieve against other GT3 cars in the Assetto Corsa lineup. We also included two upgrades for existing cars. The very capable BMW 1M Stage 3, with extra power, adjustable turbo boost, shorter gearbox and much improved suspension, and the amazingly balanced Lotus Evora Stage 2 with a new compressor pulley for a bit of additional engine power and a much more track focused suspension. We have a new friends leaderboard app. Now, gamers can directly compete against their friends on Steam steam and reset your scores ingame, everytime you like. This app is not intended to go against the amazing leaderboards created by 3rd party modders, as it doesn’t checks for cheats or assists, but it is a leaderboard for you and for your friends you trust. It gives you the opportunity to compete against each other and “reset the scores” when you want to start again. It will keep laptimes as well as scores from drift and time attack modes, all synchronised with Steam leaderboard system. 17. Carlsberg don't make Trailers... It seems that the crowd-funded project by Slightly Mad Studios Project Cars has been going on forever, in fact you could almost believe that Moses himself was playing the latest build when the burning bush pestered him to pay attention but alas we are here in 2014 and this looks to be the actual year when we will see the game actually released! Yeah I know how crazy is that? Those of you who have followed and are an active part of the games' development will know how it has progressed and continues to just surprise and make jaws drop with each passing phase and goal met by the development team. And with the recent move from the Xbox 360 and PS3 to their next-gen successors it's clearly evident that this game is going to be the looker of the bunch and will hopefully have the meat and not just be a pretty face. You can judge what you think yourself though with this *Jermemy Clarkson voice* astonishing trailer from WMDForum member JonZ, who if you don't know of, is very skilled at making trailers that result in you throwing money at your screen. Project CARS will be available for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam OS and Wii U (yes really) in the later part of 2014. For more info check out the the WMD website. Check out our Project Cars forum!
  18. McLaren Racer The next update comes to Assetto Corsa tomorrow and Kunos Simulazioni has revealed that the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 will come with it. The scarier brother of the mundane road-going version of the McLaren supercar had been built to FIA GT3 race-specification and competed in the 2011 British GT Championship and other race events such as the Spa 24 Hours. 19. AI meet AC A new update to the Assetto Corsa (AC) Beta comes tomorrow and along with this will be an upgrade to include a "taste" of AI in certain special event quick races. As you can tell it's not a full roll-out and is for all intents and purposes a means of testing how the AI performs on the multiple configuration of systems and hardware that players will have. As Kunos' own Aristotelis Vasilakosn says: For this first AI update, we won't give you the complete grid AI enabled. There will only be some special events quick races, with some cars on some tracks that will give you a taste as I said of Ai races. I know that everybody wants the full monty, but I'm also sure that you understand that we need to test the performance of the AI on various systems, check for bugs, improve it and so on. It is far easier for us to do so on some specific scenarios, than having to control the whole Assetto Corsa grid at once. For those of you more interested in just enjoying the sublime handling and physics of AC you'll be glad to hear some new cars are coming via the update as well as a contradictory 'subtle' "complete rework of our tyre model". How something can be completely re-worked and be subtle we don't know but we have faith in Kunos and look forward to seeing what they bring. 20. Has Destructive Tendencies Destruction Derby racing returns in all it's beautiful maniacal glory in the form of Bugbear Entertainment's 'Next Car Game' which is now available via Steam Early Access and includes three tracks and two playable cars. The game comes from the insane minds of those behind the FlatOut series and if you've ever played any of those then a smile should be appearing on your face thinking about just what this game could entail. Last year Bugbear ran a Kickstarter to try and fund the game but unfortunately that was unsuccessful and they pulled it with a week to go. They didn't stop making it though, and now via Steam Early Access and their own website you too can pick-up the working-title and see why many people are really excited to see this game evolve. For years many have been shouting for a new Destruction Derby type game and now it looks like 'Next Car Game' will fill this void extremely well, it's not all arena based of course as there is normal racing but the damage engine it possesses it's almost a near certainty even those will turn into pure carnage. Note that an Early Access is exactly that, it's a chance to get in on the development of the game before it's reached even a Beta state, in most cases it may even be able Pre-Alpha and suffer bugs and glitches which you are expected to submit to the developers to help eradicate them for future releases. The following warning appears on the page itself so if you want to make the leap - and we really think you should - then just remember the below: “Warning: Early access phase is meant to give you a chance to experience the game as it progresses through its development cycle, and the game is still at an early stage. As such, it does contain missing features and nasty bugs. Developing the game together with the players gives us a lot more creative freedom, and you get to communicate with the development team to make sure we’re making the all-out racing game that you want.” There is a Digital Deluxe Edition available too which includes some additional and exclusive content: Digital Deluxe Edition Backer Race Car A special in-game race car that's not going to available later! Wallpapers A set of cool wallpapers to trick out your desktop in style. Soundtrack A rocking soundtrack of the game. This extra content will be available at a later date. But wait! There's more! Buyers and early-adopters of the game will also get access to an equally fun Technology Sneak Peek that allows you to shoot, crush, crunch and drop vehicles as well as perform many insane physics based activities. 'Next Car Game' is destined for a 2014 release on PC and early access is available on Steam and the official website. What about console? Well a Xbox One and PS4 version was hinted at when the original Kickstarter was underway but since that failed nothing else has been said about the gen 8 twins. 21. It's good to BTCC a sim-racer Image Space Incorporated (ISI) have released their latest add-on of the Honda Civic Touring Car for their incredibly popular rFactor 2 racing-sim. Fans of the infamous British Touring Car Championship - or BTCC as it's more widely known amongst its followers - will recognise some of the liveries being sported on the cars. Starting with the Honda Yuasa Racing Team we have Matt Neal and Gordon 'Flash' Shedden's NGTC (Next Generation Touring Car) Civics, both of whom are BTCC Champions with Shedden winning most recently with his first title in 2012 and the veteran racer Neal having won the series three times in 2005, 2006 and 2011! And that's not where the the mentions of 'Honda' and 'winning' end either, as along with the 'Works' team, players will also be available to race around in the current BTCC Driver's Champion 'Pirtek' Civic driven by Andrew Jordan. Being a Civic it's obviously a Front-Wheel Drive car but don't let that put you off as these cars are built for handling and if you watch any racing then you will know how much a good setup matters in allowing the driver to stick to the racing line and hug those apexes. Included in the download is a touching tribute from Tim Wheatley at ISI for his grandfather, with two AI cars showing as being sponsored by the 'RAF Benevolent Fund'. In memory of my grandfather, Kenneth Minard, our A.I. opponents include two cars ‘sponsored’ by the RAF Benevolent Fund. Both Honda and the RAFBF kindly agreed to allow this, to raise awareness and to allow me to connect this British touring car with something ‘back home’. – Tim Wheatley, ISI The car and more info can be found at http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/rf2dl/honda-civic-ngtc-touring-car/ Thanks rfactor.net [gallery size=gallery-thumbnail" itemtag="div" icontag="span" link="file" columns="4]
  22. P1 More McLaren for Assetto CorsaIf a facebook post by Kunos Simulazioni 'Licensing Project Manager' Marco Massarutto is anything to go by, then it looks like we can safely assume that the McLaren P1 hypercar will be appearing in their PC sim-racer Assetto Corsa (AC) as part of their McLaren licensing deal. One for often posting 'Work in Progress' shots and teases of the game and its contents on his Timeline, the image is one of the most recent to appear with just a simple "Yes, it is.".In good company McLaren's flagship will be too, as with the recent unveiling of the Ferrari LaFerrari, there is plenty of supercar royalty, hatches and classics for its players to choose from and that's only the official offerings, there will be gajillions more via modding! Hopefully the days of these extreme machines being only available in certain games is coming to an end, and now all we need is for Assetto Corsa to show they have Porsche and people's heads could literally explode! Here's a video players may be able to recreate in the game due to a Laser-scanned Nurburgring Nordschleife coming in the 'Dream Pack' DLC later in 2014.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9IWiTpWeiM Thanks Facebook
  23. The Ferrari TheFerrari If there's one thing a racing game can do to grab your attention it is show a sleek hot Italian rear end... and I was going to use this as an excuse to post an image of exactly that, but unfortunately when Kunos Simulazioni do it to show what is coming to their Assetto Corsa racing-sim, they do so with a Ferrari. So I guess this rear-end will have to do, not that many of you will complain of course. The latest premium addition to the Modena stable of Prancing Horse's will be coming as a free content update to version 1.0 which is due to hit some time this year.
  24. "The Best Circuit In The World" - Gerhard Berger Paddock Hill Bend, Druids Hairpin, Hawthorn Bend and Clearways, all names synonymous with one of Britains most famous race tracks. Brands Hatch, a 2.4 mile track in the Southern England county of Kent has been a popular staple of British and World motorsport at the location since the 1920's. Built in a natural amphetheater, the hills at Brands give the spectator an unrivalled viewing experience, sitting at the the top of the hill on the Brabham Straight give the spectator a clear view of almost all of the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Into the trees continues the Grand Prix circuit, which has hosted the British Grand Prix and the European Grand Prix from 1964 to 1986, with British driver Nigel Mansell getting his first win at the track in the 1985 European Grand Prix. The track, immortalised in many a racing game has now come to Auto Club Revolution. With precision Laser Scanning, Eutechnyx have created a very faithful and accurate rendition of the legendary track. Below is the press release and a video from Eutechnyx. AUTO CLUB REVOLUTION ADDS BRANDS HATCH Free to play racing title uses laser scanning to add iconic British track October 10, 2013 - Auto Club Revolution, a free to play PC racing title developed and published by Eutechnyx, has announced the addition of the iconic British racing track, Brands Hatch. Referred to as “the best circuit in the world” by Formula 1 legend Gerhard Berger, Brands Hatch is the first track to be included in Auto Club Revolution which has been reproduced using laser scanning technology. Laser scanning entails a greater depth of data to be recorded, analyzed and recreated. Building on traditional forms of data collating, including CAD, satellite and telemetry data, laser scanning uses an advanced mapping system that creates a highly detailed, high resolution point cloud. This point cloud helps the 3D modelling team to pin point track height and depths but also the racing environment, showing the exact positions, depths and angles of curbs, paint, tree barriers and fences. This extra level of detail allows for a true recreation of the track, making it 100% accurate. “We are delighted to add the iconic and challenging Brands Hatch to our section of licensed tracks in Auto Club Revolution,” commented Mark Barton, Creative Manager at Eutechnyx. “By using laser scanning technology, we have been able to add a much greater level of detail to the track, giving our fans a realistic experience as possible through a free-to-play game.” Auto Club Revolution will feature 2 routes around Brands Hatch, with both the Grand Prix and Indy routes being open for racing from launch. This starts a campaign of regular updates for the game over the coming weeks and months, with additional cars and further tracks due for release. Auto Club Revolution is a free-to-play PC title.
