  1. And it's go-go-good fun! Formula 1? Check. Real F1 drivers? Check. [super] Mario Kart style flashbacks? ABSOLUTELY!! Yes people 'F1 Race Stars' from Codemasters is the F1 game nobody wanted but everyone will probably love as it's blend of Official F1 licenses coupled with insanely fun courses will make this quite possibly the new party game to play when you've had a few drinks or can't be bothered playing your 245th game of Wii Sports Bowling with your mates. The demo takes place on the 'Germany' track and four playable F1 racers are available: Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso and the ever animated Kimi Räikkönen*. You can either play it on your lonesome in single player or get a few mates round and have a 4-player #oldskool split-screen match. Don't believe us? Well feel free to go and download the demo on your Xbox 360 now (Gold only for now) with PC and PS3 coming tomorrow (Thursday 8th November). Go on, have some fun for a change and laugh at the cartoon representations of your favourite F1 star. *Rumours that Räikkönen smiles in this game are still to this point unfounded. F1 Race Stars launches for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 16th November, 2012.
  2. Project CARS gets the Hamilton Touch! Slightly Mad Studios is delighted to announce the newest contributor to Project CARS as real-life racing driver Nicolas Hamilton has joined the studio as Handling Consultant for the new title. Nicolas is an excellent fit for Project CARS as his experience combines vast knowledge from racing in the real world and roots in simulation racing, allowing him to understand both sides and effectively help Project CARS fulfil its potential. Born in Herfordshire, England, in 1992, Nicolas was brought up in the motorsports world alongside older brother Lewis. Born with Cerebral Palsy, Nicolas has always made sure this wouldn’t stop him from pursing his passion for racing. After a first try of karting at the age of 7, Nicolas’ racing career kicked into higher gear in 2010 when he impressed everyone testing a BMW M3 at Palmer Sport. His smooth driving style earned him his MSA Novice Racing License and secured him a seat in the Air Asia Renault Clio Cup where he has been competing ever since. Nicolas has started his second Clio Cup season this year, driving for T.C.R. You can check out a video of Nicolas in action below. Aside from making it in the real racing world, Nicolas has also made a name for himself in simulation racing, finishing first in the 2009 SBTCC Championship and racing successful in plenty of other community-organized sim racing events. Nicolas will be assisting the development team with making the handling in Project CARS as authentic as possible, as well as providing other general feedback. Furthermore, he’ll join tens of thousands of members in the WMD forums, sharing his view of all the latest developments in a weekly blog for all members to enjoy. 3. Over 4.75 Million US Dollars raised! Little over a year has passed since Ian Bell shared his idea with fans on the NoGripRacing.com forums (following Shift 2 support discussions). When reading about a concept for a community sim racing game few could have imagined what we have today. Advances in physics, weather, sounds, and the recent addition of stable multiplayer racing have driven members to increase project funding at record rates over the past 2 months. Both members and staff were ecstatic when the target was met on Sunday 11 November, 2012. Ian's response is below: From the whole team at SMS we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the support you've given us this past year. This is an innovative business model which we are convinced is the way of the future as regards game development. It's been a privilege to learn the ropes as we went along with the help of you all. Now it's time for me to sign an innovative deal to get game out there in style next year. THANK YOU!!!!! - Ian Bell, Head of Studio Andy Garton, Development Director, was all too happy to reward members with 17 leaked screenshots of a new 'Country Road' track currently in development, based in the Caucasus Mountains of Russia. A sneak preview is shown at the top of this page. Unlike similar community-funded games using the KickStarter platform, World of Mass Development (WMD) offers members regular pre-alpha game builds, encourages extensive communication between players and developers, and promises members a share in the profits. The other main difference is that KickStater games are generally of the Indie genre, while Project CARS aims to compete with AAA titles. Sim Racing Heritage SlightlyMad Studios is made up of staff formerly branded as Blimey Games, and going back even further to SimBin, with the release of GTR, GT Legends, and GTR 2. SimBin itself was first formed from a group of modders of F1 2002, an Image Space Incorporated title (makers of rFactor). These now-old sims are still often played thanks to their physics, wheel support, and massive amounts of modded content. A younger (and thinner) Ian Bell at a track-side product demo of GTR (2005) Happy memories indeed. We effectively developed the game "for free", working normal jobs during the day and GTR at night and weekends. Publishers weren't chomping at the bit when we just said "we can do this, honest", but once we had it done it was a different story thankfully. - Andy Garton, SMS Development Director Join the discussion about Project CARS (pCARS) on the forum!
  4. Spot The Difference! MotoGamesTV have highlighted what a years worth of game development looks like with two videos comparing current gameplay with that from a year ago.

  6. We all know there are big releases that have their own massive following and such but what about the games that just sneak up out of nowhere or a trailer you have seen that's caught your eye. Perhaps a game was announced 2 or more years ago and you are hoping 2012 will be the year it will finally show more. If any of this describes you or you just want to talk about or give a heads-up about a game you like the look of then feel free to do so. Who knows maybe you'll alert us to a cult classic or a diamond in the rough. As after all we're not all FPS muppets or diehard racing fish. :D
  7. Just saw the trailer of this on Gamersyde and I'm wondering how it's just managed to sneak up on me what with it's release being next month! Trailer is epic, that song just fits perfectly don't you think?
