  5. Are you a WMD member who is feeling just a teensy bit guilty for not contributing much to the development of the game? 6. UPDATE: Scary Nighttime Racing Halloween Trailer Released!! The Nurburgring-Nordschleife is one of the best tracks in the world for car fans due to not only it's length but also how tricky and testing it is of not only the driver, but also of the car. And if you can't get to run a few laps yourself then games are the next best thing and Project CARS is another where you will be able to do this and this small teaser trailer gives you small glimpse of what to expect. The brief teaser is part of a full trailer that will air tomorrow during the Golden Joystick Awards.
  7. [headline]Project CARS delayed until March 2015[/headline] On the official WMD forums yesterday a post was made to inform the backers and its community that the game will be delayed until March 2015 with a press release going out the following day. Unfortunately as is the nature of the internet and the need to be first someone leaked this, not long after the main gaming media got a sniff and ran with the story based on a screengrab of the post by 'Development Director' Andy Garton detailing this news. Now though it's official and the proper release has gone out of which you can see below. Going up against the behemoth of GTA V was bad enough but then you throw in the many other big name releases coming out in November and you can see why this decision has been made. Not forgetting that more time and polish spent on the game can only be a good thing and result in the delivery of an even more immense final product! [subhead]Project CARS delayed PR Release[/subhead] PROJECT CARS RE-SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 2015 Slightly Mad Studios and BANDAI NAMCO Games Europe S.A.S today announced they will be moving the release of Project CARS for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC to March 17th 2015 in the US and March 20th 2015 in Europe. The move positions the title away from the competitive holiday scene dominated by household names whilst also affords the team at Slightly Mad Studios additional time to extend and polish their ground-breaking and accomplished next-gen racing experience that’s been created alongside a community of over 85,000 racing fans and real-life professional drivers. “Our goal has always been to deliver a landmark title that encompasses the wishes and desires of racing fans from all around the world; something with features and content powered by the community that provide a truly unforgettable and pioneering experience” said Ian Bell, Head of Studio at SMS. “Whilst a tough decision to make, the change in release date allows the game the greatest chance of success and visibility, and the opportunity to polish the game even further to the high standards that both ourselves and our community demand and expect. We’re eager for you all to see what we’ve been working on in just a few months.” Project CARS aims to deliver the most authentic, beautiful, intense, and technically-advanced racing game on the planet. Crowd-funded by a passionate community that has been involved in the development process from day-one to create their ultimate racing experience, Project CARS includes the largest track roster of any recent racing game, a huge variety of motorsports to play, a freeform and authentic career mode, world-class graphics and handling, dynamic time of day & weather, and a suite of community features and connectivity that leave the competition behind in the dust.
  8. Pistonheads, those car-crazy nutters who love their virtual driving as well as the real thing have gotten their hands on Project CARS and have posted up a Preview. Being true enthusiasts in the core sense of the word it is very easy to read what they have to say and know that if you are of the same mentality that you will find the game in the same vein as they did. The author mentions that he is more a casual than a hardcore racer but don't let that have you dismiss his opinion as he talks about the handling and how it probably feels 'even more of a handful' when everything is off. 13. Project CARS allows you to create liveries for the cars that you use, so, this thread was created so you can share the ones you made! Post yours! How to install the liveries in the game: Install the nVidia DDS plugin for Ps. NVIDIA Texture Tools for Adobe Photoshop Resize image in Ps to 4096x4096 Save as DDS using default options Undo the resize so that it's no longer square/squished Place DDS file in game installation directory, under steamapps\common\pcar\Vehicles\Liveries\Custom (or whatever it's called - rough guess) Fire up the game and choose the car, switch the livery left. P.S. Thanks Ryzza5 for the step-by-step on how to install those. I will start with those: [headline]Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 - Turboduck "Full"[/headline] Download [headline]Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 - Turboduck "Vision" (Beta)[/headline] This one still needs some adjustments, as i can't test it myself. Download P.S. Moderators and pCARS insiders, If this thread violates any rules of the game or anything, feel free to delete it.
  14. The @GAMEdigital twitter just revealed that they got dibs from BandaiNamco UK that Project CARS the crowd-funded sim-racer from developers Slightly Mad Studios will be releasing at the latter end of November on the 21st, which is a Friday btw. It's amazing to think how long this project has been going and for those of us lucky enough to have been able to watch and of course playtest it as it's evolved is quite something indeed.
  15. As a Project CARS Manager, one of my perks is having a livery of my choice in the final game. Since I can't think of any good ones that benefit me, the next obvious choice is to make a tduck livery. I'm not asking anyone to actually make this for me (although if you can that would be great ), but rather the purpose of this thread is just to form a design committee to help form the livery from start to finish. Since none of you can view the thread directly I'll have to copy the brief here - just don't spread this out everywhere ok (nothing super secret, it's just in the Manager forum because that's the logical place for it). The tasks as I see them are: 1. Get Diablo's approval/thoughts - done 2. Pick base car/car type (thinking GT3 or street class... maybe one of the yet-to-be-announced Audi's) 3. Pick base car paint colour(s) - done (yellow body, orange bonnet, green roof) 4. Design logos and choose best one, also the main font type and colour turboduck Diablo to provide larger/alternative PSD files 5. Dream up additional sponsor names/logos and/or use existing SMS ones Graham's Goat Washing Someone to create and submit draft logo I <3 Bacon rear ID plate Members to think of a plausibly legitimate business name (not real) and submit draft logos 6. Logo/text/sponsor placement on car 7. Driver Names 8. Car/Driver number - done '07' I'm open to all suggestions (even if you're not artistic you can think of sponsor names that somewhat reflect our heritage and insanity (I forsee a Goat Washing sponsor for instance). Of course Diablo (site/brand owner) and myself (perk owner) can overrule if we feel we have to but I'm hoping this will be a popular community project. Just remember this livery will appear in the final game for you to select and take awesome screenshots of so get involved. *waits for Diablo* Previous examples: Is the Audi theme a coincidence?Diablo to provide larger/alternative PSD files
  16. To this day it remains one of the fastest production cars ever made. Sauber C9 With a top speed of 248mph, the Sauber C9 was a Group C Prototype that still holds one of the fastest records at Le Mans. In the 1989 season it won all but one race of the World Championship making it a dominant force on the track and an aspirational legend. BMW M1 ProCar During its years participating in a bespoke one-make series, Group 4 events, and various national series, the M1 Procar saw many legendary drivers such as Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet behind the wheel and even a custom paint job by visionary artist Andy Warhol. Mercedes-AMG C-Class Coupé DTM With its predecessor being the most successful car in the 28-year history of DTM, the AMG C-Class Coupé is a stronger, safer machine built on a naturally-aspirated V8 engine and incorporating larger wheels and a huge rear wing to make it one of the most competitive cars running in DTM today. 1967 Ford Mk IV Winner of both the 1967 Le Mans 24H and Sebring 12H, and driven by legendary driver Mario Andretti, the Mk IV was ahead of its time breaking new technical ground that has influenced car construction through to the modern day where it still holds the record of being the only American car to have ever won the classic endurance race. 18. Slightly Mad Studios today announced that Bandai Namco will partner as the games' Distributor. Note that SMS remains the Publisher, and that this partnership changes nothing about the game (as opposed to what some idiot game-journalists are reporting). BANDAI NAMCO Games to Distribute Project CARS WMD Portal BANDAI NAMCO Games enters worldwide distribution agreement with Slightly Mad Studios on PROJECT CARS - Bandai Namco Games Europe
  19. Slightly Mad Studios is proud to announce a new partnership with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, organizers of the world-famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, that will allow gamers to experience the world’s biggest motor race in Project CARS. Players will be given the unique opportunity to tackle one of motorsport’s most daunting and challenging tasks, a high-speed race twice around the clock at day & night, rain or shine. Project CARS will be the first racing game to properly simulate all the aspects that make the Le Mans 24 Hours one of the most challenging racing events in the world, as gamers will be given the chance to run the event in real-time, facing a full grid of 55 opponents on track. On their way to the top spot of the podium, players have to dodge GT traffic at high speeds and fight the elements as Project CARS dynamic time-of-day & weather engine makes the virtual race twice around the clock every bit as unpredictable & challenging as the real event. To ensure we capture all the essence of the legendary race in Project CARS, our development team is aided by no less than three race drivers that competed in last weekend’s edition of the event: While Rene Rast and Oli Webb successfully raced each other and 16 competitors in the LMP2 class, finishing 3rd & 4th in class, Project CARS Physics & Handling Consultant Ben Collins was busy in the GTE class. Their experience will translate directly into the game, allowing all gamers to share the thrill of competing in this legendary event. First run in 1923 as the Grand Prix d’Endurance, the Le Mans 24 Hours have become one of racing’s crown-jewel events as no race driver career is complete without a start at the French classic. For more than eighty years, the world’s most famous manufacturers and drivers have been flocking to central France each June, trying to make their mark on this prestigious event by proving both the superior speed & reliability of their cars. Project CARS will feature a true to life virtual version of the Circuit of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Using a mix of permanent race track and closed public roads, the track’s 13,6 kilometer layout poses a unique challenge that is unlike any other circuit in racing. One of the circuit’s most distinctive features is the legendary Mulsanne straight. A public Route National for most of the year, the six-kilometer stretch of road turns into a slipstream battleground each summer as prototypes reach speeds of more than 340 kilometers an hour on the legendary “Hunaudieres”. Going along with the track will be plenty of machinery that has shaped the history of the event, including Audi’s extremely successful 2002 Audi R8 & 2011 R18 TDI prototypes as well as Ingolstadt’s newest creation, the Le Mans race-winning 2014 Audi R18 e-tron quattro. The popular LMP2 class is represented by two cars as Project CARS will feature both the Alpine A450 LMP2 as well as the ORECA 03 LMP2, representing more than 80% of this year’s LMP2 grid within the game. Project CARS will also honor some of the race’s most legendary cars as players will be able to experience Le Mans legends like the race-winning 1978 Renault Alpine A442B, the 1990 Mercedes Benz Sauber C9 Group C car & BMW’s 1999 V12 LMR prototype. To celebrate the addition of the Le Mans 24 Hours, Gaming Nation UK will be running a virtual 24 hour race for charity using Project CARS. To find out more about their event and to donate to the worthy cause, make sure to check out their JustGiving page. Project CARS will be coming to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Steam OS, WiiU & PC, starting November 2014.
  20. Nobody does gaming videos quite as well as Gamersyde you're not reading this anyway so I'll just post the link Project CARS - Gamersyde
  21. Audio lead Dr Stephen Baysted has been in the studio at London recording the needed sound bytes for the 'Pit 2 Car' feature in Project CARS. It'll take a while yet to post process the results and to implement the extra functionality that has been written in, but as a rough estimate the script is about 5 times bigger than GTR2 and has many many times more variations. The feature will be authentic in design, with audible interference and white noise - no crystal clear communication like in Shift 2 Unleashed. With full damage and failures enabled, you there's even a chance of losing radio communications completely, as does sometimes occur in real life.
  22. This new trailer shows a large part of what has culminated over the many years of development this game has been in production, and now as we edge ever faster through the year of 2014 the official media drops are starting to happen and as the old saying goes; good things come to those who wait. And this is none ever truer than Project CARS from Slightly Mad Studios. Having been watching this game for many years it's now quite remarkable to think that this game is actually coming and it is truly going to be one hell of an introduction for this brand new franchise that will easily take-on the big names in their domain. Can honestly see this game being the one you switch between with The Crew.
