  1. Porsche Coming to Assetto Corsa More and more games are starting to pry Porsche away from the cold grip of EAs hands and the next game to do so will be Assetto Corsa, renowned for its incredible simulation. Two Porsche packs are expected before the end of the year across PC, Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and it will be the first time that Porsche have been officially included in a simulation racing game for over 12 years. Judging by the video we can expect to see Porsches from all eras across from road going cars, to GT racing and the ultimate LMP machines that will again be showcased at this weekends upcoming Le Mans 24H. We'll keep you updated when we hear more about these upcoming packs.
  2. Formula 1 2016 Coming Soon to a Console Near You With another summer, comes another Formula 1 2016 game. Not a great deal changes year on year with these F1 games but it's still day and night when compared to a certain fishy cash cow. But among the changes is a 10 season career mode that should keep you occupied for the next couple of years if you like to do full length race weekends. With F1 2016 you get all an all new track, Baku, a street circuit in the city of you guessed it, Baku in Azerbaijan. From the screenshots that have been shown, it looks like quite a nice track. The game graphics themselves don't look too shabby either. There is also a new and improved car upgrade and development element to the game that is supposed to mirror the real life development of these mystical machines. Are you up to the task of doing 100+ laps of Circuit de Catalunya? There's no word on when the game is going to release but it will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime later this year. I'd expect it to be released towards the end of the season as is now the norm with these games. But expect to see more of it at E3 in just less than 2 weeks.
  3. Project CARS Free April DLC Project CARS in April will see the Mercedes-AMG GT3 come to players for free later this month, and the GT3-class racer will be the only DLC offering for the game by Slightly Mad Studios for the month. We had already been treated to a number of teases of the vehicle last month, but thanks to the game's official twitter we know that it is now due out on April 15th. This latest Mercedes GT3 racer made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015 as the successor to the mighty SLS GT3, which is already in the game. Chances are you may already have sat behind the virtual steering wheel or virtual carbon wing (you third person drivers) of this car, as is typical in racing games, the car has appeared in a number of other titles such as Assetto Corsa and the PS4 exclusive, DRIVECLUB. Nevertheless you can't have too much of a good thing and with each game having its own spin on how the car performs and handles, it should be fun to run some laps and compare. Project CARS is out now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
  4. PlayStation 4 Update 3.50 Available Now As well as being hard at work closing down studios, Sony have also been hard at working further improving the PlayStation 4. Here are the 4 most notable features added/improved in 3.50: Appear offline Friend online notifications Remote Play for PC and Mac Custom Scheduled events Appear Offline Have you ever been on your PS4 and just wanted to chill out and watch a film or play on a game on your own with no interruptions only to be bombarded by messages and invites from one of those friends that do everything they can to drive you up the wall? *breathes* Well fear not, you can now appear offline and do your own thing. Friend Notifications Another feature that has been slightly copied from the Xbox is friend online notifications. For those of you who have friends that are seemingly attached to you at the hip you can now set a notification that pops up when they pop online so you can spend more precious time together. How sweet? Remote Play Remote Play is now not exclusive to handheld devices like the Xperia phones and the PS Vita. If you own a powerful enough PC or Mac you will be able to use it to play PS4 games by plugging your DualShock 4 controller in via USB. So if you really really want to you can play a bit of CoD or NFS whilst sat on the throne with your laptop on your lap. I think this will makes some peoples lives complete! You can download the Remote Play software from here if you're running Windows 8.1 or higher and Mac OSX 10.10 or 10.11. The max resolution is only 720p but do you really need more than that when on the throne? Resolution options: 360p, 540p, 720p Default resolution – 540p Frame rate : Standard (30fps), High (60fps) Default frame rate – Standard (30fps) There are a few other minor features that have been added but I'll let you head over to the PlayStation Blog to check them out as I'm sure you've had enough of my blabbering for one day.
  5. Assetto Corsa Console 'Perfection' As we approach the June release date for the console version of Assetto Corsa, it seems Kunos and 505 Games have been ramping up the promotional push to spread the word about the game. Latest of which, is this simply sublime trailer showing many vehicles from the game captured in everything from a gentle panning around the cars' interiors and exteriors, to the slow motion instances of the many normal racing and hard driving moments exhibited during the running of laps around a circuit or race course, all set to a calming classy piano piece that never breaks away into a hard rock session or a dubstep bass drop. Giving out a feeling that there is no need for gimmicks, and in turn showing itself in a sort of warts and all type manner because of it, marking itself as a simulation racer that is all about the cars and the handling first. Its sole function, to provide a close representation of what it might actually feel like to take anything from your own daily driver (if it's in) or one of those unobtainable dream motors to the very limit, as if you are one of the previous Top Gear presenters, whose job it is to go fast and hopefully not crash while doing so. With DiRT Rally having only just dropped on the PS4 and Xbox One and Assetto Corsa coming up on the horizon, these are quite good days to be a console racing pleb.
  6. Project CARS 365 Days Later In what you might call a feat of cunning brilliance, Slightly Mad Studios have decided on the release date for the recently announced Project CARS 'Game of the Year' Edition as being May 6th 2016. Why do we applaud them for this? Well the original release was back on May 7th 2015, and February of this year was a leap year, therefore the 'GOTY' edition is releasing a year later. Ah yes, now you get it! You can just imagine the meeting where the discussion about the date is being held and one of the team utters 'uhh... why don't we just release it a year later?'. Common sense prevails and give that person a raise I say! Project CARS depending on who you talk to, what reviews on which platform you read and whose videos you check out on Youtube is well loved or patially loathed. However it's not critically acclaimed for no reason and racing fans do enjoy having another racer amongst the ranks of the usual offerings - especially those on console. The post content support has also been well diversified and fairly priced. The free stuff hasn't been the dregs left at the bottom of the developer's computers either; shown with the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG GT3 that will be the freebie of the next update to pCARS' 'On Demand' program. As is customary with an edition like this, all the content released for the original game is included along with extras: The Game of the Year Edition is a celebration and a thank you to the racing community around the world. Featuring all the elements of the original core experience, the Game of the Year Edition also includes an additional: 50+ cars (125 total), 4 tracks (35 unique locations, 100+ layouts total), 60+ community-created liveries, plus two special and exclusive items... The iconic Nurburgring Combined Nordschieife + GP circuit Two Project CARS exclusive vehicles from Pagani – the Zonda Revolucion and Huayra BC unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show Project CARS 'Game of the Year' Edition will be out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 6th 2016. 7. You're Going To Die Today Todd Howard (AKA Game Developer God) discussed the upcoming Survival Mode that is debuting in Fallout 4 in April. The mode is currently in Beta on Steam for those of you PC players out there who wish to give it a go, for those of us on console we are to expect it in April. When? We have no idea, Todd Howard doesn't like release dates. What can you expect in this new mode? Todd laid it out for us: Saving With Sleep - The only way to save the game is to find a bed and sleep for at least an hour. No Fast Travel - You know that settlement across the Commonwealth that's being attacked? You have to walk there, the entire way there. Hardcore Damage - You deal out more damage, but you also take a lot more, stay safe kids. Threats On Compass - They're being removed, so you can literally walk right into a pack of bandits, or that Deathclaw you've been avoiding. Adrenaline - This is a new perk that provides a bonus to damage output by killing things, lots of things. Although sleeping will remove the effect so keep that in mind. Needs - No it's not The Sims, but you will need to eat, sleep and drink to ensure that you stay in fighting shape! Fatigue - Walking is hard, this affects your Action Points - the more fatigued you are, the less you can sprint or use VATS to get those easy kills. Wellness - Crippled limbs are no longer healed by Stimpacks, nor are effects removed by using them. Carry Weight - All ammunition will now weigh you down depending on size of calibre, as well as your legs will give out if you carry too much. Companions - No longer get back up if downed by combat - they run back to a settlement to heal up, wastelanding is hard work. Will you be taking on Survival Mode when it gets released some ambiguous time in April? Let us know below or on the forums! Thanks to Youtube channel Open World Games for the title picture!
  8. Thanks Evo for the Good Times! Sony decided to unveil just before the Easter bank holiday that they were in the process of closing down Evolution Studios (also gave us WRC and Motorstorm) which means that DRIVECLUB, at least eventually will be nothing more than a distant memory. Happy Easter everybody. A game that has shown so much promise and so much potential is going to be pulled away from right in front of us. Much like another franchise that a lot of us have fond memories of. Sony's statement: Regular reviews take place throughout SCE Worldwide Studios, ensuring that the resources that we have in such a competitive landscape can create and produce high quality, innovative and commercially viable projects. As part of this process we have reviewed and assessed all current projects and plans for the short and medium term and have decided to make some changes to the European studios structure. As a result, it has been decided that Evolution Studio will close. It is regrettable that this decision will lead to compulsory redundancies. We accept that this decision will mean that we risk losing high calibre staff but by focusing on other Studios that already have exciting new projects in development we believe we will be in a stronger position going forward and able to offer the best possible content of the highest quality for our consumers. Where possible we will try to reallocate people onto other projects. If appropriate opportunities are not possible within the company, we will assist staff in any way we can, including speaking with local employers and with other development companies. Evolution has been an important part of SCE Worldwide Studios for over 10 years - working on ground-breaking racing titles like WRC, Motorstorm and DRIVECLUB. This decision should not take anything away from the great work that Evolution has produced. Evo Game Director, Paul Rustchynsky and Senior Community Manager, Jamie Brayshaw took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the closure: On the bright side, the former Content and Community Manager of Need For Speed 2015 developer Ghost Games would be happy to see them join the team. (who wouldn't!) Evo pushed the boundaries of the technology and created masterpieces that will be remembered in the hearts and minds of their many fans. They will be missed. We at turboduck wish the whole team good luck for the future and look forward to seeing what they do next. Hopefully the DRIVECLUB IP will do well within the PlayStation household and will get the attention it had been getting from Evo, although it's hard to say to if the talent and passion they showed the game will continue with whichever outfit gets tasked with it next. Perhaps it might even be sold on to another developer (we hear Activision love to kill good things - still missing you Bizarre Creations) who can and will do the game justice. Or maybe even the staff of Evolution Studios will split from Sony and start up again. Check out this teasing tweet from the former game director... There's still hours of enjoyment to be had from DRIVECLUB for myself with the recent purchase of the bikes expansion still to explore. So for the time being we can still all enjoy the game as it stands, but without any future updates from those that took it to where it is now. I for one would like to say a massive thank you to all of those involved with the making of DRIVECLUB and also everyone (developers and players) for persevering through it's somewhat questionable and rocky start to life, helping make it into the game that we have today. Good luck to those that will be affected as a result of this studio closure and all the best for your future!
  9. Return To Your Roots Hello and welcome to yet another instalment of Open Letters! In this "weekly" column I do one of two things, write an open letter to something relating to news, or I respond to a letter sent in from one of you, the readers! (If you want to send in a question/concern for me to write about, email me at: [email protected]) This week however this article/column/trash-heap is aimed at Game Developers of the Battlefield/Battlefront/Mirrors Edge franchise, DICE. For clarities sake, today we are focusing on the Battlefield aspect of the previous sentence - as many people may be already aware Battlefield 5 was announced back at the end of 2015 and there is a rumour flying around that the franchise will be returning to its roots by taking place during World War I. I'm getting ahead of the curve here let's have a history lesson. (learning is fun!) DICE was founded in 1992 and has been a subsidiary of Electronic Arts since 2004 and have a hefty list of games they've developed including but not limited to: NASCAR Heat*, Battlefield 1942, Midtown Madness 3*, Battlefield 2/3/4, Mirrors Edge/ME: Catalyst, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit*, Medal of Honor (multiplayer), Star Wars: Battlefront *Indicates DICE co-developed this game with another developer Okay the list is huge and I've already made it too big but they've made some of the best games for the past two decades and I'm trying to make a point here that they created Battlefield, which is one of the (if not THE) direct competitor(s) of that other huge FPS series called Call of Duty, developed by Infinity Ward/Treyarch/Sledgehammer Games and financed by Blizzard/Activision. Don't let my ADD drive you off course, this conversation is about Battlefield - specifically about Battlefield 5 which is due out in what is estimated to be October of 2016. And finally, for the love of God finally an FPS game developer has listened to me. With no further ado, my open letter to DICE: Dear DICE, If you are reading this, then first allow me to say - yes I will happily beta test anything you need for the foreseeable future. But that's not what I'm writing to you about, I am writing to thank you for listening to not only me, but what I can only assume is a very large collection of gamers (both male and female) who are incredibly tired of shooters all feeling the same. Call of Duty has gone so far into the future I get the feeling that the next iteration will be World War III including sticks and stones; however you over at DICE have decided to return to the roots of what made these franchises so successful - you're returning to the most fascinating period of history and wartime that exists. World War I/II settings used to flood the marketplace over a decade ago - to be fair many of them still exist however none as popular as what Call of Duty or Battlefield can pull off. I have fond memories of playing the old games with bolt action rifles, running about as hulking tanks drove past to crush the opposition. Ah, nostalgia why do you feel so damn good? Hindsight is not 20/20 however so if you really do intend to bring Battlefield 1914 into 2016 it needs to be incredible, bring back that nostalgia that I had as a kid but revitalize how it feels because I have car payments now. For Battlefield to truly continue to succeed the franchise needs to evolve in the right way and I feel like going back to what you're good at is a great move. I'm sure we have things to look forward to at E3 this year. How do you feel about Battlefield 5 going back in time? Let us know down below - or hop over to the forums, sign on up and be sure to donate your teeth to the growing collection. Image credit: Yibada
  10. "Surprise" Bonus Pack 2 A video has been released, rather unexpectedly, showing off the contents of a brand new Bonus Pack for Assetto Corsa, due to release alongside the version 1.5 update on March 31st. In the humorous showing for the free Bonus Pack 2, we see a Corvette C7 Stingray and a Ford Mustang enjoying themselves on the new "Black Cat County" desert track which will come in three configurations, before meeting up with a stylish Italian "surprise". As they all face each other, the revs rise and then the power drops, producing puffs of smoke as their tyres struggle to grip on the tarmac due to the horsepower being exerted through them, speeding head-first towards each other as quickly as they can accelerate along the stretch of tarmac. It's really quite a sight to behold and brilliantly executed. And as Kunos themselves are Italian, it makes sense that they would want to include a true hero of their country's automotive history. The surprise from Italy will be included within the console version, however the US duo is available as part of the ‘Prestige Pack’ pre-order incentive at select retailers. Currently available on PC via Steam, Assetto Corsa will hit Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 3rd in Europe and June 7th in North America. Source: Assetto Corsa facebook
  11. 2017 Nissan GT-R Premium The facelifted 2017 Nissan GT-R may just have recently been unveiled at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), but already it's availability virtually will begin from tomorrow, in Need for Speed. Making its video game debut in the game this latest - and possibly the final version - of the R35 generation, known as the Nissan GT-R Premium 2017, will come to the PS4 and Xbox One on March 24th and March 30th for PC. Even though the R35 did not take the 'Skyline' name it is still seen as one, and the name is synonymous with street racing culture and it's no surprise to find many of them in a game such as NFS which centres on this. And within the trailer you can see many of these icons with the years of that model shown on their number/license plates, from the R32 of 1993 and R34 of 1999, right up to this newest 'Godzilla' of 2017, but strangely missing out the '71 original??? No R33 though, which is my personal favourite. With games it is easy to fall into the What's the difference? thinking when a new model of what is more or less the same car already included is released, as we cannot experience the new changes except for what we can see: like a few styling cues, a speed increase and perhaps a different handling feel, but nothing too drastic to the previous. If this wasn't free then sure that would be an issue but seeing as it is then it's something new for nothing and I'm sure many can live with that. >The GT-R's award-winning 3.8-liter V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine – each unit handcrafted by its own Takumi technician – now delivers 565 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 467 lb-ft of torque, representing an increase of 20 HP and 4 lb-ft, respectively, from last year's model. - Nissan Press Release Ironically for this game due to the lack of an in-car/cockpit view, one of the main updates to the 2017 model is a much improved interior making it a more welcoming environment for the driver -- one of the jokes about the R35 was about how if you were driving you wouldn't have to look at it but the interior itself was never kept in high regards to its aesthetics or styling either. Despite this, you could never deny the performance and handling of the car which would put a lot of the more expensive options to shame in a drag race or a few laps round a twisty circuit. Yes it may be another 'Skyline', but we're not anywhere near approaching Gran Turismo territory. (though we wouldn't say no to an R33 guys!) UPDATE: A few official images added. 12. The ball is in your court, Sony/Developers Hello friends and welcome to my new series: Open Letters! In this sporadically posted column, I will write open letters to things relating to the gaming community while tying in news you may now know in a very informative, yet somewhat humorous manner. Our very first open letter is to the software giant Microsoft's gaming division, Xbox. Microsoft. Synonymous with Bill Gates, Tablets, Phones, Phablets and Windows Vista (I shuddered too it's okay). And just last week, Xbox announced they would support cross-platform multiplayer with both players on Windows 10 and Playstation 4. In fact just EARLIER this month, I criticized Xbox themselves for potentially destroying everything we know and love about games. Now they've come full circle and decided, GAMES FOR EVERYONE! This is a great success for all gamers, allow me to elaborate. What exactly has been done? Well, Xbox has said they're all good to go for developers to create cross-platform multiplayer, as in Xbox will support this going forward. This is unexpected as ever since the formation of Xbox Live, it has been very restricted to Xbox only content. Now that we're seeing the boys at MS let up, this could literally change everything. Xbox has stated that the developers of 3rd party games (ex. Grand Theft Auto, Destiny, Call of Duty) can create cross platform multiplayer which means those friends of yours who got a PS4 instead of an Xbox One? You can in the future hopefully play against them despite your console preference. What about those elitist PC players? Yes you too, can face off against PCMASTERRACE in whatever game tickles your fancy. Now, I say hopefully very sarcastically because we're not quite sure where this could lead. Sony has responded to Xbox regarding the cross-platform play -Sony Worldwide Studios' Shuhei Yoshida suggests there's no technical issue preventing cross-network play between PS4 and Xbox One. Rather, the debate will revolve around whether it is in Sony's best interests to allow it. So onto the topic of this post - an open letter to Xbox: Hello, Xbox The recent news that you're willing to allow cross-platform support on games is astonishing and not something I ever expected from either side of the aisle. Thank you for knowing what your fans want, thank you for being willing to take whatever risk to promote this and to hopefully make it a reality. Those things I said last time I wrote about you guys, I was mad you know how these things go we all say things we don't mean.. so basically what I'm saying is.. *gets out flowers and goes down on one knee* make this a reality..? For me? Thanks for reading guys at Xbox, I hope this inspires some serious fan-fiction that we can all laugh about in the future. (I never said this was a LONG open letter) In closing, in all seriousness - this has a long way to go, so far we only have Xbox's word that they're willing to go along with this, some may call it an empty promise, some may call it the future. But until we have a concrete answer from Sony and game developers about how the science of this will work out - it will remain a pipe-dream. Happy about the news? Tell us over at the forums, or in the comments down below. Also please don't send me fan-fiction, please.
  13. Project CARS March DLC The teasing of what is to come next to Project CARS this March has started with some images being posted on the official instagram of the game. The first of these shows an outside the window shot from "the next free car", which seemingly from some noticeable clues such as the door and mirror shape, door opener, yellow pullover fabric strap and probably the most telling - the AMG branding on the bottom, signals that this will be the oft-rumoured Mercedes-AMG GT3 finally making its appearance. Next up is something we only recently learned about due to the announcement of the Project CARS Game of the Year Edition coming out this Spring. And if this next car is what we believe it to be then it's a real gem of an offering as despite them trying their best to conceal it, there's one image available online (thanks GTspirit) where working out what it is becomes easy and this is because it shows off all the branding the car had on it before it was removed for some reason. It is this edition that SMS appears to have recreated for the game when modelling the Pagani Zonda Revolucion. It's entirely possible that the March DLC will be that of what is to come with the GOTY edition, along with the addition of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 to keep up the 'a free car every month' that has become commonplace. There was talk of March's DLC being a "track pack" and two of them being mentioned but maybe this was just a cloak and dagger way of keeping the Nürburgring GP + Nordschleife guessing away.
  14. DRIVECLUB March DLC Evolution Studios show no sign of slowing down in bringing more desirable content to DRIVECLUB with the upcoming release of two new Expansion Packs and a free for everyone Aprilia superbike, later this month on March 22nd. In fact, if anything they just keep upping the bar in what they manage to source and get out for their players. Case in point of the Koenigsegg Regera that is coming, along with a Jaguar XJ220 in what is being labelled the "Finish Line" Expansion Pack. The pairing of these two is quite appropriate in my opinion as of their time they were some of the fastest and slipperiest looking cars out. The XJ220 held the record of the world's fastest car for a short while when it recorded 212 mph at the Nardo test track before the McLaren F1 came along and blew everything away. Whereas the Regera hasn't as far as we know actually had a speed officially recorded, it is predicted to top 270 mph and if there is one Koenigsegg have in spades, it is proof that their cars are capable of reaching their claimed numbers. As is the case with these Expansion Packs it is not just the cars alone that you will get for your money; you also get 6 new events and 5 trophies to achieve. For the speed freaks of the two-wheeled variety, there's more machinery from MV Agusta making its way into DRIVECLUB BIKES. If Ducati are the Ferrari of bikes then they are the Lamborghini and you can see why with the forthcoming "MV Agusta" Expansion Pack . Stunning looks, crazy sounds and prices that make them pure luxuries and near enough pieces of art. (I may be slightly bias though, as I absolutely adored the MV Agusta F4 Tamburini in the old Test Drive Unlimited game) Whatever you feel, it is just great to see more new manufacturers coming into the game and one as iconic as this is a real triumph. The free stuff hasn't dried up either, as a free superbike in way of the Aprilia RSV4 RF ABS will be available to everyone on the same date as those above. And I personally cannot wait to see the photo mode pics that people capture of the new cars and bikes. If you have some yourself then jump on our forums and share them with us!
  15. DRIVECLUB Drift March The March update for DRIVECLUB is out and Evolution Studios continue to better the racer by bringing the changes and requests of their playerbase to the game. Beginning with the big change that 1.27 will bring, is that Drift scoring is much improved, points awarded will actually now make sense and will require the fundamental techniques of drifting in order to get that score shooting up. There will be no more bending the rules as if you were Neo in the Matrix, as driving slow, using your vehicle as some sort of lawnmower or using the walls will result in a penalty. Therefore, you will need to have the angle, speed and preferably stay on the black stuff in order to get a good mark from the virtual judges. Accompanying this radical change of the scoring system is a reset of all Drift Mode leaderboards to ensure a level playing field race course for all involved. Driver, Club and Elite Levels have been given another stretching too, taking the caps for Driver and Club to 120 and Elite to 60, with Elite and Club also having new livery rewards that can be unlocked as players progress. One of the smaller but very cool things Evo do is feature community taken photo mode pictures within the game's menus. This time they've went one step further and created a monster collage using thousands of #PS4share images for the loading screen of both DRIVECLUB and DRIVECLUB BIKES. DRIVECLUB UPDATE 1.27 changelog: New Drift Mode scoring: Fast and precise drifts now earn much bigger scores. Going off track, driving slowly or colliding with walls will result in a penalty to prevent exploits. All Drift Mode leaderboards will be reset in the days following the update to ensure they offer a level playing field. 25 new Elite Levels have been added (new cap is 60). 25 new Driver Levels have been added (new cap is 120) with new livery rewards to unlock along the way. 35 new Club Levels have been added (new cap is 120) with new livery rewards to unlock along the way. 16. Project CARS Of The Year Project CARS has had a decent impact on the racing genre since its release, taking the fight to Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo and giving those on PC yet another sim-racer they need to find time to play with amongst their Assetto Corsa, iRacing etc. Looking glorious on the PC has always been an easy selling point for the game, and with the proper wheel support and providing the consoles a more simulation based racer compared to the usual offerings the title has done well in introducing itself and giving others something to think about. It's had its problems sure and it's not had the best PR due to some of the more outspoken members of the team but you cannot deny that the post-release content support by way of their On Demand program and its pricing has been anything short of rather good. For the cost of a typical DLC Pack from the others you could grab yourself 2 or even 3 of those for pCARS and the assortment provided with them caters to a far-reaching audience, from the GT racers to the mad for it Drifters. The free stuff was pretty damn good too it has to be said. If however you have held out this long in grabbing the title, or have actually been waiting for what is now becoming the inevitable Game of the Year/Complete/SUPER AWESOME CHICKEN NUGGETS edition to drop, then get ready to scream in delight stingy, as it's coming in the Spring! Comprising of all the content and updates released for the game so far, the GOTY edition will also include 2 new monsters from the stables of Horatio Pagani: the Pagani Huayra BC that was only recently shown in Geneva and the road-going even more extreme version of the phenomenal Zonda R, the Zonda Revolucion. As for the tarmac faithful, the news that the combined Nürburgring Nordschieife + GP circuit will be showing itself is likely to go down well. Project CARS GOTY Edition Contents Featuring all the elements that made the original core experience a runaway success, the Game of the Year Edition will add even more to what is already the definitive racing sim: An additional 50+ cars (125 total) 4 tracks (35 unique locations, 100+ layouts total) 60+ community-created liveries 500+ features and improvements that have been added since launch In addition, the Game Of The Year Edition will feature two distinctive and exclusive items: The iconic Nurburgring Combined Nordschieife + GP circuit Two Project CARS exclusive vehicles from Pagani – the Zonda Revolucion and Huayra BC unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show Despite how it all sounds from above the additional new content is not only accessible to those who buy a full copy of this new addition. That would be completely unfair to those who already have done and continue to support the game, so it is reassuring to know that all of that stuff will be available for existing owners too, as was clarified by the game's official twitter account. Project CARS Game of the Year Edition will be available in Spring 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
  17. New Hot Rod'ness Information has dropped about the latest Need for Speed update called 'Hot Rods', due March 3rd, which will introduce Hot Rods and Drag Racing, together with some of the most wanted player base requests. Hot Rods are one of the premier examples of car culture, taking an older-bodied car and cramming as much engine into it and then taking it to the drag strip (keep it legal folks!) and seeing how quickly you can run the distance produces some incredible examples of automotive madness. And NFS is giving you two, for FREE! A familiar name in this scene is Ford, and so it makes sense that one of these is a Ford 1932 Hot Rod with the other being a mean mother called the Aaron Beck ‘BeckKustoms F132′ - a Mad Max Steampunk-future looking derivative. The let's call it, 'standard' Hot Rod, has four unique Bodykits, enabling you to transform yours into a great new look: Soft Top, Coupe, Sedan and Pickup. Each of these then have a full set of customisation, including Hood, Lights, Grille, Exhausts, Bumpers and more. This is no everyone looking the same type deal, this is keeping in with the being able to make your car custom to your own (horrible) tastes that this NFS delivers so well. Of course with these new straight-line devils you ideally want to seek out some strip clubs... the Drag Racing variety and you'll be glad to know these are added as new events with the inspiration being taken from previous NFS games: Inspired by the Drag Events of previous NFS titles, these new events are the perfect place for you to get your speed fix. Unleash a burnout on the starting line to prime your wheels, align in the start box and time your revs perfectly. Think wisely about the use of nitrous, as it may just influence the outcome of the event. There will be five new Drag events for you to take part in; Neck to Neck, The Perfect Shifts, Drag the Town, Pedal to the Metal and Speed Tunnel. The developers, Ghost Games, have shown themselves to be really open to the suggestions and feedback from their community, and so along with the new specialised vehicles comes manual transmission (finally!), a new Warehouse - giving extra space to store another five cars (yay!), improvements to the Wrap Editor - including a new coordinate display menu to make the positioning of your items much easier, improved text writing with Text Decals 2.0 and selectable fonts, where you can now simply select what you want and then type your text into the prompt that appears, along with some animation and notification updates to make the identifying of what is currently being worked on more reliable. And it wouldn't be right to drop the new vehicles and events without showering players with some achievements and trophies, so there are 3 of these coming too. Full Patch Notes With this Living Game update there will be two new vehicles, a new game mode and Manual Transmission. We are bringing Hot Rods to Need for Speed! Firstly the Ford 1932 Hot Rod, secondly the Aaron Beck BeckKustoms F132. Along with the Hot Rods players will now be able to play a Drag Race and use Manual transmission On top of these big features the update also includes: A Virtual Warehouse where you can keep an additional 5 cars in your garage Improved Snapshot overview screen in the Need for Speed Network menu so you can find out more about your snapshots Improvements Snapshot Pro mode Improvements to the wrap editor 3 new Trophies and Achievements More campaigns for Rep / Cash and Discounts A variety of tweaks and improvements including game play, World and audio Multiple stability fixes Need for Speed (2015) is out now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and comes to PC March 17th. 18. Assetto Corsa Console Delay The wait for the console version of Assetto Corsa gets that bit longer as publisher 505 Games have announced that the title will now be out in June. Originally pencilled in for an April release, the new dates are now June 3rd for Europe and June 7th for North America. The publisher says the game has been delayed to give developers Kunos Simulazioni the extra time to get the Pledge (other polishes are available) out and "ensure the console release delivers the most polished experience for simulation racing fans". Not many will deny them that extra time if it means being able to fulfil the promise of the 60fps simulation-racer that they are craving, particularly when you consider they will be going up against PlayStation and Xbox stalwarts Forza and Gran Turismo, plus the new'ish kids looking to make a dent in the racing scene, Project CARS. 19. Project CARS February DLC out in March Please bear with me a second while I smash my head off the desk. *WHACK* All right, over the past few days we have provided information on what the next Car Pack for Project CARS would be and delivered the media and release dates seen from trusted sources. So it's really annoying (in a funny way) that today it has been announced that the - whatever! final name out of 'US Car Pack' or 'US Racecar Pack' they choose - DLC for February will be out now on March 1st, due to making sure that Patch 9.0 will be "out on all platforms before the Pack [is out]". It's only another week to wait from the original date so not a huge issue, unless of course you have to return to your home planet on Feb 29th or something. In which case, sorry. 20. USA! USA! USA! Update: Feb 20th - This DLC Car Pack has now been delayed to March 1st. Update: Feb 19th - The actual name is the US Racecar Pack and a teaser video was posted in the early hours (GMT) of this morning. Update: Feb 18th - The muppet that I am talked about the Ford Fusion Stockcar and yet FORGOT to put it in the contents list. So yeah it's obviously there! More images and information have come out about this months DLC for Project CARS. We knew it was going to be a "car pack" and we've seen the teaser pics and some of the shared screens from the official Project CARS forum, but now we have a date of release. Thanks to the official IndyCar twitter account who tweeted earlier today, the 'US Car Pack' as it looks to be called will be coming on February 23rd for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Shortly afterwards, the Ford Performance account also got in on the act by tweeting about being able to "drive the 2016 Ford Fusion Stockcar in your living room" next week with a screenshot containing a very purple car leading a pack. At this time we haven't seen anything from Cadillac but chances are they will do one too. And the speculation that the free car for the month would be an Aston Martin turned out to be correct, with official images being shown on the official forums of the Aston Martin GT12 by Ed 'Cinematics & Video' Mas who also spoke about having a "short clip up later today". Project CARS: US Racecar Pack DLC Teaser Video Car Packs have usually followed a 4 Premium vehicles included besides a free offering, but this one might be one short, or are Slightly Mad Studios keeping something back? Honestly, we'd say it's probably best to think not and be surprised if so. 21. Ammazzinngg Race! The people at Slightly Mad Studios have been teasing their fans again about their upcoming DLC releases on their Instagram and the official Project CARS forums. And from what they've shown, it looks like the February DLC pack will concentrate on American vehicles. So far, we've seen pictures of a Corvette C7.R GTE, Chevrolet's Le Mans winning beast, a Cadillac ATS-V.R (am I seeing a theme in the naming department here?), which is Cadillac's GT3-spec racer they used for the 2015 season in the Pirelli World Challenge series, an Indycar, which looks to be the Dallara DW12 and to top it all off, a Ford Fusion Nascar racer. The GT cars will fit in nicely as the GT field in Project CARS is one of the, if not the very biggest available right now (outside modding of course) and the ability to fill up your own Indycar grid with the Dallara or do a Nascar race with a grid full of Fusions is something that will not only excite those fans in the USA, but also perhaps bring a taste of these motorsports to those who may have ignored or even joked about them. There is a problem though, a BIG problem with delivering an accurate representation of the latter two and that is the lack of oval tracks in the game. Back in the early days several ovals were originally planned for Project CARS but they've disappeared silently: According to Ian Bell, oval tracks are "still somewhat up in the air" due to problems with the AI system. Most likely scenario will be that we'll be seeing them in Project CARS 2 instead. In any case, those cars do race on road courses too, so they should provide you with plenty of fun and yet another series or few of vehicles to master. In addition to the DLC package itself, SMS will also give us our monthly free DLC car. In February, the free car looks to be the Aston Martin Vantage GT12: only 100 of these GT3-inspired monsters have been made in real life, so chances are that you didn't get your hands on one. But not to worry, you'll be getting your hands on it in Project CARS once the February DLC releases. 22. HARDCORE STREET RACING If there is one thing DRIVECLUB has lacked that mostly all arcade racing titles have, it is city locations. From tomorrow however that will no longer be the case, as part of this year's February update (v1.26) will contain a brand new city track based in Scotland, called Old Town. The new location will come in six variants, is available across the main game and the BIKES expansion and is what is hopefully the first in a series of metropolis street racing environments to come. For those players who are into wanting their vehicles naked... in the assists department, there is a new Hardcore handling mode giving the sort of challenge, that as the name suggests, will require precision, speed and a demeanour that could border on a bit psychopathic. Virtual photographers who have cursed not being able to get those great shots online when with friends can cheer loudly as the new 'Photo Mode' setting in Private Lobbies will make doing that all that so much easier along with much more that you can find in the changelog detailed below. DRIVECLUB v1.26 Update The newest track “Scotland – Old Town” is here, offering 6 track variants to play across all DRIVECLUB & DRIVECLUB BIKES game modes. A new “Hardcore Handling” option is now available, turning off traction control, stability control & other assists. Enable this in Gameplay Settings for a more realistic driving experience. Multiplayer Private lobbies have a new ‘Photo mode’ setting to help you choreograph photos and videos with friends. This disables ghosting, wrong way timers and automated reset to track scenarios. Photo mode screen filters can now be enabled outside of photo mode, while you race. Photo mode now offers extended Zoom and Exposure settings, plus all settings persist between photo captures during an event. Replays have a new option to toggle player tags on and off at any time during the replay when you use the L1 Button. The Dynamic Precipitation option has been improved to reduce the likelihood of persistent rain. 10 new Elite Levels have been added (new cap is 35). 10 new Driver Levels have been added (new cap is 95) with new livery rewards to unlock along the way. 25 new Club Levels have been added (new cap is 85) with new livery rewards to unlock along the way. The loading screen for DRIVECLUB and DRIVECLUB BIKES now show off 2 awesome new #PS4share community photos. Fixed the ‘Weekend Warrior’ Trophy for DRIVECLUB BIKES. Ranking up the KTM 1290 Super Duke R to Bike Level 15 is now no longer a requirement. Includes general improvements for game performance, stability and usability. And all of that is FREE! That's not all for February though, as the update prepares for the forthcoming "No Limits" and "Suzuki" Expansions which will be dropping onto the PlayStation Store on February 23rd. "No Limits" features six events and five trophies along with two new cars: first and foremost of these is the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 V-Spec II -- a car that is always asked for no matter what the game is about. Yes, even Bloodborne has probably at some point been asked to include a version of the Japanese legend that is known as 'GODZILLA'. The second is another little famous Japanese rocket of the Honda Civic Type-R. "Suzuki" will astonishingly include two Suzuki bikes: the Suzuki GSX-R1000 & Suzuki GSX-S1000 ABS which are no doubt as fast as a flea jumping off a scalded cat! Just to be clear then. Everything is free except for the paid Expansion Pack DLC. Enjoying the game but have noone to talk to? Join our forums and have that no more!
  23. DiRT Rally New Console Content Codemasters have released a trailer for the console version of its incredible rally-sim DiRT Rally, showing the new additional content they will include on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 5th, 2016. Prepare to jump right into some rallycross by way of the new Classic Mini and Super 1600 Series at the start of the game, with the latter having three well-known hot-hatches amongst its ranks of the Opel Corsa, Renault Clio and Peugeot 207. Also included is the much loved Renault 5 Turbo, legendary Renault Alpine A110 and another Peugeot, the 208 T16 Pikes Peak. The New Cars Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak Renault 5 Turbo Renault Alpine A110 Opel Corsa Super 1600 Peugeot 207 S1600 Renault Clio S1600 Mini Classic Rally-Cross Besides that lot, a vintage full gravel surface Pikes-Peak hill climb is added too, giving players an even more extreme challenge than what is its tarmac covered modern equivalent today. If you're a bit wet behind the ears in regards to rallying, you can always have a watch of one, some or all of the 21 advanced rally driving guides that will be available -- and when the co-driver says "Don't cut!!" you bloody well better listen. The days of Colin McRae and Codemasters continue to shine on too, with 3 more of his classic liveries, including the iconic blue with fluorescent yellow Subaru Impreza (happy dance!) joining his already in the game Ford Focus edition. Console gamers pre-ordering the digital edition of DiRT Rally will receive both the Fully Loaded MINI Pack and the Fully Loaded Rallycross Pack, which unlocks the Mini Classic Rallycross. There is also a limited edition 'Legend Edition' and for the real die-hards, a Steelbook complete with Driver's Guide will be available in certain territories. Source: dirtgame.com Blog
  24. The Team At Ghost Give Us A Glimpse On Wednesday February 3rd, Ghost Games is going to be releasing the newest update for Need For Speed - the reboot of the quickly failing franchise. This time around all the DLC is free, which is an odd move to Electronic Arts, but an extremely welcome one. Okay I'm done yapping, here's what's in the newest update! From needforspeed.com Snapshot Pro [aka Photo Mode] ...we’re introducing Snapshot Pro, a mode which will allow you to create some stunning photos of your favourite car. Hit start to get to phone screen, then select Snapshot Pro from the phone menu. You’ll then be able to manoeuvre the camera around the car, apply a number of custom settings such as depth of field, brightness, contrast, vignette, saturation and more. You’ll also be able to apply a number of pre-set filters, allowing you to achieve great results in a very short amount of time. ...we can’t wait to see what you do with it! Wrap Sharing ...we’ve constantly been blown away by the talent and creativity being shown by the Need for Speed community when it comes to wrap creation. We’ve seen wraps inspired by past NFS games, comic books, films, and much more. Wrap Sharing has been one of the most requested features to date and because of this we’re adding a new option within the Paint and Wrap section that will allow you to browse and download wraps shared by other players. If you’re a wrap creator then simply mark your creation as shareable and it’ll show up for everyone else. Downloading and applying a community made wrap is as easy as heading into the community wrap section in the 'Paint and Wrap' section, finding one that you like and hitting the download button. Once downloaded you'll then be able to apply it to your ride and even edit and tweak it should you wish. Customization Items Customization continues to be something we see you talking about and requesting more of, which is why we’ll be following in the footsteps of the Legends update and adding another 100+ new customization items in this update. In total, eleven new cars will be getting new parts: Ford Focus RS Chevrolet Camaro Z28 BMW M3 E92 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Ford Mustang Foxbody Ford Mustang GT Mazda MX5 (2015) NISSAN 180sx Type X NISSAN Silvia Spec-R SUBARU BRZ Premium SUBARU Impreza WRX Multiplayer Want to test your skills against other people? We've added a “Competitive” option at the front menu which will see you placed in a game with other players who are also looking to race competitively. Or, select “Alldrive” and you can experience Need for Speed as it is now. License Plates You’ll now have the option to customize the license plate on your car, giving you even more options to personalize your ride. You’ll be able to choose from a selection of backgrounds from past NFS games including; Redview, Fairhaven, Palmont City, Rockport, Olympic City, Bayview and Tri City Bay. Alongside the backgrounds you’ll also be able to apply a number of frames to complete the look. Gas Stations Players of previous NFS games will be familiar with the gas stations and their ability to repair your car. Something we heard directly from you, the NFS community, is that you wanted this functionality brought back. You missed the option of having your car look new again, instead of having to wear the scars of racing until you ventured back to the garage. As such, all gas stations in Ventura Bay will now repair your car, free of charge. Simply drive your car through the station and it’ll be looking as good as new. And to help you out further, we’ll be adding all gas stations as points of interest on the map. New Trophies and Achievements Three new trophies and achievements will be added to the game, go out and earn them all: Filter Addict - Take a Snapshot with a Filter in Snapshot Pro Mode Wrap Artist - Share a Wrap with the Need for Speed Community Climbing the Ranks - Reach Monthly Rank 10 by completing Daily Challenges We'll be seeing you on the streets, kids! Tell us what you think of the update! We are BIIIG fans of photo modes in games and want every game to have one, yes even that one. And we hope that you will come on by the forum and share your outstanding pics you have captured with this new mode. [yop_poll id=5] All images courtesy: needforspeed.com
  25. Agent 47 Gets A Sitcom... Kinda No, it's not a TV series but it acts like one. The new installment in the Hitman franchise will be released as “episodes” - with one coming out each month, featuring Agent 47 in a new environment each time. This means one month you'll be in the vineyards of Italy, the month after you'll be on the hard streets of Chicago in America – after that you may find yourself in Morocco or Thailand. Why like a TV series though? Developer of Hitman, IO-Interactive released a statement from Executive Producer Hannes Seifert: “(we) wanted to release Hitman in increments so that they'll have more time to work on each chapter and make it the best game-playing experience for hardcore Hitman gamers - releasing the video games episodically gives (us) and the players the chance to see the storyline of the famous assassin evolve in an organic way.” If you're not a fan of getting your game-playing experience one month at a time, Square Enix will release a boxed set of all the games for those who would prefer to wait and get all of the episodes all at once. Square Enix (producer of the Hitman franchise) announced there would also be live events and additional content to the games in-between episodes, which further expand the story of the series. A live beta is set to release on February 12th for gamers eager to check out what has been done so far, all fan feedback will be taken into account before the game launches so there is time to make adjustments. Hitman is the sixth installment in the franchise and will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC in March of 2016. Images credit: Kotaku.
