  1. Less than a month to go for the PS4 launch in some locations, and we've just heard that Harley will need to upgrade his woeful Internet connection so that he can download and install the 300MB software update in good time to enable features such as RemotePlay (for Vita) and also the Share button on the controller, which will allow him to record and upload gameplay highlights, or even LiveStream via the Twitch or UStream service. Other features enabled by the update are voice command and facial recognition (requires the PS Eye camera), and more importantly the 'play-as-you-download' ability powered by Gaikai's cloud technology. But wait, there's more. The patch also enables multiple-account logins, BluRay and DVD support, custom background music while gaming, and Party Chat. Before we all give Sony flak for the magnitude of features that are dependent on this update, it's worth considering that the likely reason for this is to prevent unwanted early feature reveals or reviews from those who are privileged to gain access to early demo units (i.e. store owners). Same thing happened with the Wii U, and we already know that the Xbox One and Forza 5 both will require day one patches. The only noticeable feature that won't be making an appearance at launch is the suspend/resume feature, so Harley will have to save his gameplay and turn the console off manually until Sony release another update. That's assuming he hasn't already cancelled his preorder by now. :p The rest of us will be able to check out Sony's 'second screen' PlayStation app for Android and IOS on November 13 for USA, or November 22 for Europe. While Harley will be able to use it as a basic controller for his console, the rest of us with PSN accounts can benefit from it's social features by comparing trophies, sending messages, editing profiles, posting status updates, and of course - buying games.
  2. This brings back so many memories. UPDATE: Making of video added.
  3. [headline]The Crew: Ubisoft 'aiming for locked 30FPS' with PS4 & Xbox One [/headline] Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections are "aiming for 30 frames per second locked" with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of next year's open-world racer The Crew, creative director Julian Gerighty has told VideoGamer.com, stating that a higher frame rate would be unrealistic given the size of the world. "We've never been at 60 frames per second," Gerighty told us during a gameplay presentation this morning. "We've always been aiming for 30 frames per second locked. Today, unfortunately certain PCs have been overheating, so we're having frame rate drops. It's a hardware issue, not a software issue. "60 frames per second is, of course, what we would all like to obtain," he continued, "but it's such a big world, and with all the online features running, it's just not realistic to obtain that. 30 [frames] locked is really, really good and exactly what we've been focussed on." Despite being co-developed by Driver: San Francisco studio Ubisoft Reflections, development on The Crew is being led by French studio Ivory Tower, comprised of ex-Eden Games developers, which has created a proprietary engine for the next-gen racer. "In fact, no," Gerighty replied, when asked whether The Crew was running on a modified version of Driver: San Francisco's engine. "It has the DNA of both Test Drive Unlimited, which was the world of Hawaii [and] seamless online, because it was conceived by Ivory Tower in France who are ex-Eden Games [developers]. But... this is a multi-studio project, so when Ubisoft asked Ivory Tower who [they wanted to] work with within Ubisoft, there is no better team - maybe in the world - for an action driving game, than working with Ubisoft Reflections. So Ubisoft Reflections are working hand-in-hand with Ivory Tower. "The tech behind it is proprietary to Ivory Tower. This is something that is completely brilliant in terms of tools that allows us to build a very varied, very spectacular, beautiful world very easily... So it's really more, in terms of technical side of things, Ivory Tower." Via Ubisoft 'aiming for locked 30FPS' with PS4 Xbox One The Crew - The Crew for Xbox One News
  4. This is pretty big for you who will be getting the PS4!
  5. Sony have just announced at their gamescom even that the PlayStation 4 (PS4) will be out in November, starting from the 15th for North America and two weeks later from the 29th for Europe. http://turboduck.net/img/misc/ps4.jpg[/img] Many interesting things and a sly wee dig at Microsoft were also included but this was the news most people wanted from this event.... except for The Last Guardian of course.

  7. Hey folks:) Here you can post your PSN's, since I want to add some of you guys:) Oh an btw here is mine: V8Loverrr
  8. Just this minute, well actually 6 mins ago a video showing the PS4 console was released and as you can see there isn't that much to see apart from a black box, some stylish shapes and a couple of Triangles. The Full reveal is coming at E3 so not long to go then. :)
  9. A very good but tech-filled jargon posting by DigitalFoundry on Eurogamer has just went live. In it we here how Ubisoft Reflections are not just working with or collaborating with Ivory Tower on the game, but in fact they are tasked with porting the game to the PS4 and from the sound of it they are enjoying what they have discovered and what possibilities may be implemented or played with in the PS4 version especially. It's a really good read and well worth checking out. How The Crew was ported to PlayStation 4 Eurogamer.net
  10. The consoles(or at least next-gen consoles) have finally caught up to the PC version of Battlefield and will support a maximum of 64 players in any given match. This is great news to me and to many others on this form I'm sure. Along with the increased player limit I'm assuming that the maps will also be full sized for the Xbone and PS4.
  11. Meet the Creators It's been a while since we have heard anything about DRIVECLUB the team-based racer for PlayStation 4 that's coming from those clever folk at Evolution Studios. Sure there has been a couple of magazine interviews and the occasional posting on the official Facebook but nothing like we saw at the PlayStation event back in February, where there was plenty of video and glimpses at the level of detail they are aiming for. Today though this changes ....a bit, as just before E3 where we will hopefully see a lot more of this game Sony have released this new Developer Interview or "Conversations with Creators" video as they call it. In it we hear a lot of typical speak about how the game will handle, who it will cater to and how it's constantly connected to provide you and your friends with challenges and goals to one-up each other on, but also there is a good wee bit of gameplay shown with various cars and from the way they move it definitely gives off a PGR feeling than anything overly sim or arcade. DRIVECLUB is potentially coming out at the end of this year along with the launch of the PS4.
  12. TDU3 or DSF2? With E3 only a week away now, more info has leaked about the rumoured racer to be coming from Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections (Driver: San Francisco). Here's what we've heard so far: The Crew will probably offer a game experience close to DRIVER: San Francisco. The gameplay is rather semi-arcade, accessible, fun and efficient. The open-world environment is in North America, with the possibility to travel between New York City and Los Angeles (on a reduced scale). Like DRIVER: San Francisco, the map will be similar to "Google Maps". In "freeride", players will be free to choose between missions or challenges. Multiplayer will be competitive and co-operative with an upper limit of 8 players per-session. A companion app for mobile devices will be published The unknown source of this leak tested the game on the Xbox 360 console, but previous job listings seem to hint that a PS4 version is also in the works (Xbone more than likely too). The release date is expected to be announced before the end of 2013. Apprehensive? Excited? Cautiously optimistic? Come and discuss the latest on our forums! The image above was found on Ivory's website by Speeder last year Thanks. GameBlog.fr

  14. The upcoming racer aiming for the PlayStation 4 launch has just had it's official website launched. As you'd expect for a new site not much is available at the moment but we'll keep this thread for updates regarding it and to start us off we'll post the link. :) DriveClub
  15. IGN has posted this article where GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi has told them that they have Gran Turismo 6 "In Mind" for PS4.
  16. GT Underscore... ? There's no bigger racing series around than Gran Turismo and believe it or not it's celebrating it's 15th anniversary, well it actually did that back in December 2012 when it was launched in Japan but for those of us in Europe and the Americas where the game was launched on the 8th for Europe and the 12th for North America it is actually essentially 15 years to the day when many of us got our hands on the original 'The Real Driving Simulator'. I myself remember going down to the shop I pre-ordered from and picking the game up, getting home throwing open the PS1 lid and spinning the game up. And if there was one game where you watched an entire intro time and time again it was Gran Turismo. My version had the and it did not half get you fired-up to race and to chase after the credits to buy the cars you saw. *good times* Anyway it looks like we are going to get to see what the future of GT will be as there has been a media event announced at Silverstone Grand Prix circuit for the 15th May. Will it be GT6 for PS3 as has been heavily rumoured since the start of this year, a cross-gen GT release or maybe even a GT for all PS systems? Only time will tell but as with everything to do with a new GT possibly coming, it's going to be very well worth the watch. And here is hoping that this time the wait isn't quite so long as it was with Gran Turismo 5. Discuss Gran Turismo on the forum.
  17. Wolfenstein: The New Order revealed - GameSpot.com What's eye-brow raising about this is that the game is being developed by a number of those behind the Chronicles of Riddick and Darksiders games. :hmmm:
  18. With E3 about 6 weeks ago away I was wondering what you guys are excited or wanting to see at the expo this year. Myself personally I really hope we see what Ivory Tower's game is all about and that it's what we are imagining it to be like. Some more WATCH_DOGS wouldn't go amiss, maybe the '5 twins' in Forza 5 and PGR5 may finally show themselves. More next-gen showings from both Sony and Microsoft and definitely more of the Oculus Rift as that thing looks awesome!
  19. Unreal Engine 4 has been shown in all it's glory in this Tech Demo named 'Infiltartor'. As per usual gorgeous visuals, lovely effects and a setting of soldiers + guns is the bread and butter of this demonstration. The next-generation of games are undoubtedly going to look very nice. Good eye! [media=twitter]317639971957796864[/media] UPDATE Looks like the demo was running on a single nVidia GTX 680. 20. The Waiting Game Begins In an interview toward the end of February, SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) Senior Vice President Michael Denny was recorded stating that GT6 would indeed be coming to the Playstation 3. He didn't bother correcting himself, he just let it slip out - the cat is now out of the bag. Though we knew GT6 was coming, it was inevitable, but for it to be blurted out by an executive took Gran Turismo fans by surprise. By now, of course we all know this information - it happened close to a month ago; however there has been no news beyond that slip of the tongue and that might not be good news. Let's just get it out of the way right now, Polyphony doesn't know the meaning of the word "deadline" - Kazunori Yamauchi doesn't like to rush, he'd rather have perfection. And most loyal GT fans feel exactly the same, the stereotypical GT player has the patience of a monk and will wait through countless delays to finally get their hands on the next game in the series. However this is where things get a bit complicated; Gran Turismo 5 released three whole years after GT5 Prologue came out and six years after Gran Turismo 4. As a result, many members of the media weren't impressed with the overall product when it finally released at the end of 2010. Many saw it as a grinding disappointment after so many years of waiting, the consensus from many was that the waiting wasn't worth it. However with the news of Gran Turismo 6 supposedly being on the near horizon it makes us wonder, will Polyphony actually make a deadline? Or will they once more delay the game far into the future? There's no doubt that Gran Turismo 5 still has plenty of life to it, thanks to the regular updated that Polyphony provides to it - but just how long will fans have to wait for the next installment? After all, it really isn't up to SCEE when Polyphony finishes their game and we all know they won't finish it until they feel it's absolutely complete. And since Gran Turismo 6 seems to be releasing on PS3 and PS4, which one would you rather have it on? Be sure to let us know how you feel in the comments below and tell us what you think Polyphony has to do to make this the best Gran Turismo ever.
  21. GT PS4? You sure, bit optimistic that! An eagle-eyed individual going by the name of Big_Ste has spotted that the Facebook account of LM Gianetti has posted an album under the title "SCANSIONE PER GRAN TURISMO PS4" which if you are not as fluid in Italian as we certainly are not, translates as 'Scan for Gran Turismo PS4'. What's interesting about this is that some of the images which you can see below show the James Glickenhaus P4/5 Racer as well as two classic Italian Motorsport Legends of the Lancia Delta and the Alfa Romeo 155 Touring Car, where those of you who can remember playing the earlier GT's should remember fondly as it was let's just say.. a bit NUTS! Image showing the Album As with all things in relation to the future of Gran Turismo, only time will tell what is to come and even then it will still no doubt be delayed once or thrice before finally releasing, but we don't mind this do we as the attention to detail, the cars and of course the classy elevator music are what makes GT what it is and we wouldn't have it any other way. Well apart from the engine and exhaust notes, please PD get your kit together and get some proper sounds this time. GT PS4 hasn't been announced, hinted at or even mentioned except in the dreams of fans, but at this time we are confident to predict that it will be out before GT's 100th anniversary in 2097 (23rd December ..a Monday). [gallery size=gallery-thumbnail" itemtag="div" icontag="span" link="file" columns="5" ids="1001,1000,999,998,997,996,995,994,993,992] Thanks. LM Gianetti Facebook
  22. Now this is interesting, are Polyphony Digital sending out the Canon squad to take pics and scan vehicles that will be coming to a Gran Turismo PS4? Maybe and probably, however until we know for sure we have these images to go on. "Scan for Gran Turismo PS4" Album posted by LM Gianetti | turboduck
  23. 4K TV's may not be the norm at the moment but as with all technologies that start off expensive and is costly to produce eventually they come down in price to become affordable to the masses (unless you're an apple product :p). Sony is one of the more future-forward thinking companies and even though it has seen all manner of eventualities from the good to the damn right awful (Betamax I see you) they always tend to just go for it anyway. What does this mean? Well with the PS4 you will be able to download 4K movies and watch them.. providing you have a 4K TV of course as what would be the point in doing it if you didn't? Exactly. At upto and maybe even above 100GB for a movie though your ISP and your patience may be stretched a bit hair-width thin. The future is full of massive image quality and massive DAMAG... I mean Downloads. Credit: PS4: Sonys 4K movie service confirmed for console | VG247
  24. I was thinking about this while reading some musings come out of the 'EA Investor Conference' about games potentially costing $69.99 for the next-gen and it got me thinking two things. 1) Sony themselves have said games will cost between $0.99-$60 and 2) Is there any point in buying right away as most games these days are reduced within a month or so anyway? In the UK anyway price reductions are quite good, within 3 weeks Far Cry 3 for example was selling for less than 30 pounds and supermarkets do BIG games at lower prices as they count on making up the loss via fuel and grocery sales. Pair this with the ever growing pre-order bonus palaver and day 1 and on-disc DLC and it just seems that buying on release day is more fool-hardy than anything else. What do you guys do?
  25. What We Know Hardware The PS4 console hasn't been revealed yet since Sony are still working on it; hands-on time is expected at E3 (June 11-13, 2013) The PS4 console will use a 6x BluRay (8x DVD) drive for games and movies The PS4 console uses an 8-core 64bit AMD "Jaguar" CPU, an enhanced ATi Radeon with 18 compute units capable of 1.84 TFlops, and 8GB of unified GDDR5 RAM. A storage drive will be included but specifications concerning this haven't been revealed yet. 802.11n WiFi, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI, optical out and a legacy analog AV out make up the inputs and outputs A "near-final" version of the DualShock 4 controller has been revealed, showing convexed thumbsticks, additional "Share" and "Options" buttons, a touchpad, and a PS-Move style light bar for player number identification and controller location tracking via the new PlayStation 4 Eye. The PlayStation 4 Eye features two 1280x800 cameras with 85 degrees field of view (one for video, one for motion tracking, 3D triangulation, and gesture recognition) and 4 microphones. 4K 'super high definition' video output will be available for content that supports it. PS4 games currently being developed will not be able to output at 4K. A separate chip will handle uploading/downloading content in the background while playing or while the console it turned off (standby mode). Software The x86-based CPU means that PS3 games (which were coded for a Cell processor) will not be natively compatible on the PS4. Sony will later consider alternative solutions such as emulation or online streaming for the longer term. Games purchased through the PlayStation Store and downloaded digitally on the PS3 will also not carry across to the PS4. The same goes for 'gave saves'. Used games will work on the PlayStation 4, however there appears to be an unannounced caveat concerning this. Players will be able to use Gaikai's streaming technology to play games without waiting for downloading to complete, to try before you buy, and to drop-into games your friends are playing to help them out. Players will be able to live-stream their gameplay to friends via the Sony Entertainment Network and record up to 10 seconds of video. Integration with popular social networks will be available. While aliases will be retained for 'anonymous gaming', players will be able to see personal details when playing with real life friends. Information will likely be pulled from social networks. PS4 consoles will be able to stream games to the PlaySstation Vita using RemotePlay. Instant suspend mode will allow you to turn off the console mid-game and then turn it back on and return to the same point in your game. No more booting. Driving Games It has been reported that Ivory Towers are developing a game similar to Test Drive Unlimited 1 (which they created when known as Eden Games) for the PS4. Further details coming at E3. DriveClub has also been announced as a PS4 launch title from the developers who made MotorStorm on PS3. Other Details The PlayStation 4 console will be available in the holiday season at the end of 2013. The head of Sony America "hopes" the console will cost less than US$499, which was the launch price of the most expensive PS3 variant.
