  1. The silence surrounding DRIVECLUB was never seen as a very bad sign as there was talk about it maybe being delayed due to being a showcase for Sony's Oculus Rift alike VR display system, which itself was rumoured to have been delayed too. At the end of last year we were treated to a few short clips of the game looking amazing and those of us in the UK got to see those clever little 4 idents which used them game and showed off some impressive visuals. Even as recent as a few days ago there was apparently a tweet made on the DRIVECLUB feed that showed a date of 9.4.14 which if you aren't from the USA know means the 9th April this year but was very quickly deleted. Now however IGN have spoken to Worldwide Studios executive Scott Rohde who has said that they will going "back to the drawing board and make sure the game is great before we ship it." Thanks - IGN
  2. The PS4 train continues to steam along and nothing appears to be in it's way as reports say that it's launch in it's home of Japan has passed the 320,000 sales marker in just two days! That's a big difference compared to it's bigger brother the PS3 which sold close to 90,000 (blu-ray issues constrained that though) on it's launch weekend. Japan was a bit of a worry for people to as they seem to be more aligned to smartphones and handhelds such as the Nintendo DS but if this shows us something it is that Japanese gamers still love them some home console gaming action. PS4 has more than likely now sold over 5.5million worldwide since it's launch in November 2013 and Sony has said that low stock will probably remain until at least April. The overstay of the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation certainly seems to have made people's hearts grow fonder for this new generation of console gaming and the sales are just going to continue to come, now all we need is the games!! Though with inFAMOUS Second Son and a rumoured VR device - that's on-par with the Oculus Rift - Sony certainly has a very cool gaming future ahead of it and so do its current and future PS4 owners. Thanks - News: Japanese PS4 sales hit 320k in 2 days, report claims - CVG UK
  3. Advertising Secrets Exposed! If you were expecting DRIVECLUB to finally arrive on PlayStation 4 on February 28 as previously suggested, now might be a good time to re-evaluate. That is unless of course Sony's marketing strategy is... not to market the title with only 2 weeks from launch. Official PlayStation Magazine Italy reckon that DRIVECLUB will not be available until as late as June 2014. That's quite a bump back from the original November 2013 launch date. That [nonexistent] marketing strategy is however unlikely following the distribution of an instructional branding guidelines video for contest-entrants that interestingly shows us what ploys are in effect to make their game trailers look visually realistic, such as the lack of colour saturation, or purposeful introduction of imperfections and amateurism. This makes one wonder if the marketing gameplay footage we've seen thus-far is truly representative of the final product or if some of these tricks are simply done in Final Cut Pro, for example. Have a look for yourself and let us know what you think below. At least we know (from the assets video below) that the game will sound good! DRIVECLUB Videos
  4. This brings back so many memories. UPDATE: Making of video added.
  5. This was just posted on the official PlayStation Facebook and their twitter too. Looks like it could possibly be the secret project Sony Santa Monica (SSM) [of God of War fame] could be working on? :hmmm:
  6. GT Underscore... ? There's no bigger racing series around than Gran Turismo and believe it or not it's celebrating it's 15th anniversary, well it actually did that back in December 2012 when it was launched in Japan but for those of us in Europe and the Americas where the game was launched on the 8th for Europe and the 12th for North America it is actually essentially 15 years to the day when many of us got our hands on the original 'The Real Driving Simulator'. I myself remember going down to the shop I pre-ordered from and picking the game up, getting home throwing open the PS1 lid and spinning the game up. And if there was one game where you watched an entire intro time and time again it was Gran Turismo. My version had the and it did not half get you fired-up to race and to chase after the credits to buy the cars you saw. *good times* Anyway it looks like we are going to get to see what the future of GT will be as there has been a media event announced at Silverstone Grand Prix circuit for the 15th May. Will it be GT6 for PS3 as has been heavily rumoured since the start of this year, a cross-gen GT release or maybe even a GT for all PS systems? Only time will tell but as with everything to do with a new GT possibly coming, it's going to be very well worth the watch. And here is hoping that this time the wait isn't quite so long as it was with Gran Turismo 5. Discuss Gran Turismo on the forum.
  7. The Waiting Game Begins In an interview toward the end of February, SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) Senior Vice President Michael Denny was recorded stating that GT6 would indeed be coming to the Playstation 3. He didn't bother correcting himself, he just let it slip out - the cat is now out of the bag. Though we knew GT6 was coming, it was inevitable, but for it to be blurted out by an executive took Gran Turismo fans by surprise. By now, of course we all know this information - it happened close to a month ago; however there has been no news beyond that slip of the tongue and that might not be good news. Let's just get it out of the way right now, Polyphony doesn't know the meaning of the word "deadline" - Kazunori Yamauchi doesn't like to rush, he'd rather have perfection. And most loyal GT fans feel exactly the same, the stereotypical GT player has the patience of a monk and will wait through countless delays to finally get their hands on the next game in the series. However this is where things get a bit complicated; Gran Turismo 5 released three whole years after GT5 Prologue came out and six years after Gran Turismo 4. As a result, many members of the media weren't impressed with the overall product when it finally released at the end of 2010. Many saw it as a grinding disappointment after so many years of waiting, the consensus from many was that the waiting wasn't worth it. However with the news of Gran Turismo 6 supposedly being on the near horizon it makes us wonder, will Polyphony actually make a deadline? Or will they once more delay the game far into the future? There's no doubt that Gran Turismo 5 still has plenty of life to it, thanks to the regular updated that Polyphony provides to it - but just how long will fans have to wait for the next installment? After all, it really isn't up to SCEE when Polyphony finishes their game and we all know they won't finish it until they feel it's absolutely complete. And since Gran Turismo 6 seems to be releasing on PS3 and PS4, which one would you rather have it on? Be sure to let us know how you feel in the comments below and tell us what you think Polyphony has to do to make this the best Gran Turismo ever.

  9. Driving in a Club I doubt anyone would be surprised to see a racing game being revealed for a new console but typically you expect it to be of a known series, and with it being the PlayStation 4 announcement meeting many were no doubt waging their bets on seeing a glimpse of a next-gen Gran Turismo or maybe Motorstorm. This did not happen though, in fact evolution studios the people behind the Motorstorm series revealed a brand new IP, DriveClub, which will feature many real-world cars such as BMW, Pagani and Maserati to name a few. With a name like that you just know that many "first rule of DriveClub" jokes have already made their way out but this game is looking to take a somewhat new approach to the racing game genre with a big emphasis on team-based... or I should say club-based gameplay. You and your club can set-up races and events (on your mobiles!) against other clubs that encompass anywhere from a mere small group to 1000's of players all over the world. DriveClub has only just been announced and a small trailer is all we have right now, but we will be keeping our eyes on this one to see if it is one of the first next-gen racing games worth having. Join in the discussion of DriveClub for PS4 in our forum!
  10. So here is a thread for you all to discuss, chat and naturally go off-topic about the Sony event being held in just over an hour from now. Let's hope we get to see the future of gaming and have lots to talk about!
  11. Here's a question for you that I guess won't be answered until the PS4 releases, but with talk about it being '4K' is Sony already aiming too high with the specs of it's next-gen PlayStation? Looking back now Blu-ray was a brave choice but one that probably has paid off as BD is now all around us and in fact we are now looking to what the next format will be as it's successor if even a physical format will be the future! Wait I'm straying off my intended topic here. The PS3 when released cost let's face it, a bomb as it was very expensive. It wasn't long till you were hearing that developers were struggling to work with the machine and then on-top of this you had the whole "could do with some more memory" thrown into the mix whereas it was clear that Microsoft had listened to what devs had to say about their new platform and as can be clearly seen the Xbox 360 is clearly better for it as with several multi-format titles the Microsoft machine does have the upper hand in visuals. So my question to you all is, has Sony learned from the mistakes of the PS3 and if so do you think the PS4 will be a much better machine due to it, and if not do you think they will struggle in the next-generation? Answers on a postcard please to: KEVIN BACON, 4GEE, EARTH, MILKY WAY, CENTRE OF UNIVERSE.
  12. Whooooooooo are you? A post appeared on the well known and popular Gran Turismo fan community GT Planet by user jstickboy13 showing an off-screen photograph of a Camouflaged Corvette C7. As with everything on the internet, scepticism and 'FAAAAKKEEE' was quick to show itself as was the CSI forensic experts who were out with their Photoshop, changing the Brightness and Levels of the image to see if they could reveal the truth behind the image itself. This just made things even more inconclusive until a white knight ...well another member in fact, new at that too posted a video showing the spinning camouflaged Vette in all its glory. So people, thank edwinpr for the video below.
  13. Been reading some thoughts and opinions on the PSV and rather to my surprise things are vastly positive which is somewhat unusual for a handheld not sporting the Nintendo name on it. I'm not really that interested in getting one unless Pro Evolution goes back to being great but until then how many of you are going to be getting your hands on the newest kid to have the PlayStation emblem adorned upon it? Are you even bothered?

  17. allo :) i'm currently typing out on a ps3 and i've just been to the chatbox and don't seem able to post in it. how many other limitations of the machine have you all noticed and how do you feel the big black chunky box makes up for it? :)
18. New info on the firmware updates for PS3 and PSP… 14 Oct No doubt you’re already aware of (and excited about) the latest firmware updates for PS3 and PSP. We’ve just had some information on both updates in from SCEE, so please click through to find out more and let us know what you think about all the new functionality. London, October 14, 2008 – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced details of the next PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) and PSP®(PlayStation®Portable) system software updates, adding new features to both platforms to benefit consumers. The PS3 firmware update (v. 2.50) will include the implementation of advanced voice chat features for the PS3 official wireless headset, the ability to capture screenshots in-game with supporting titles in the future, and Trophy enhancements, among other new features. The PSP firmware update (v. 5.00) will add direct access to PlayStation®Store on PSP, enabling consumers to browse the store and download games whenever they’re at a Wi-Fi hotspot. Both system software updates will be released on 15th October. PLAYSTATION®3 Firmware 2.50 Update Building upon the foundation set by previous firmware upgrades, the 2.50 system software update will refine existing features while also adding new functionality. The update will deliver exclusive options to support the official wireless headset, as previously announced, such as an on-screen indicator that shows volume, battery charge, and mute functions, as well as a High Quality (HQ) mode, which utilises advanced wireless technologies and the Headset’s dual-microphone design to enable clear and wide-band wireless voice communication with PS3 system. HQ mode greatly improves the voice chat experience in multi-player titles such as Resistance 2, which launches in November. To further strengthen the gameplay experience on PS3, the firmware update will add an in-game screenshot capture tool, laying the groundwork for developers to add capture and sharing options to their games and allowing players to immortalise their favourite gaming moments and share them with friends. Titles that support the feature will be announced in the future. The 2.50 update will also enhance the user interface for PS3 Trophies. When players acquire a Trophy, the in-game notification will now include the specific Trophy icon created by the developer, while more intuitive options for comparing Trophies with friends have been added, including an icon to represent each Trophy level. The Trophy system will continue to expand through future firmware updates, catering to the PS3 community and the competitive nature of the more than 12 million registered PlayStation Network users worldwide. Other new features delivered through PS3 2.50 will include: • Video – Video scene search functionality will provide thumbnails to help you find a particular scene in a video more easily. • Information Board – The Information Board will be able to include direct links to PlayStation Store, making it easier for PS3 owners to download content that they read about on the Information Board. • Power save – PS3 owners will have the option to automatically shut-off their console or controllers after pre-selected periods of inactivity. • Flash 9 content becomes supported on the Internet Browser. PSP Firmware 5.00 Update The PSP Firmware 5.00 update will add direct PlayStation Store access to the system, eliminating the need for PSP to be connected to a PC or PS3 to download content. PSP owners will be able to download games, demos, trailers, and other game-related content anytime and anywhere that their PSP is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. This functionality delivers on the portable promise of PSP, making the device even more compelling for gaming and entertainment on-the-go. Additional enhancements delivered through PSP 5.00 will include: • On-screen keyboard – A full-size, on-screen keyboard will be added to make text entry during Web browsing easier and more convenient. • Sleep timer – During music playback, a sleep timer will enable users to shut off their PSP after a specified amount of time. • Video-out – The PSP-2000’s video-out feature will be able to display PlayStation format software (classics titles) at the full-screen size of the TV that the PSP is connected to; the feature will also support interlace displays. 22. Old news probably but for those of you who don't know the original SIXAXIS PS3 controller has finally stopped production and the DUALSHOCK 3 has now taken over. For those of you who don't know why the dualshock was not released when the PS3 was heres why. Basically Sony did not own the rights to the Dualshock name as it was made by a company outside of Sony. Now after a long legal battle Sony have now released the dualshock 3 worldwide. Heres some vids I stumbled across of reviews and other info on the new controller. Not all games are compatable but MGS is one that is compatable. http://www.dualshock3rumble.com/ The Dualshock 3 has only been available worldwide since the beginning of June and the original SIXAXIS production stopped in April.
