  1. During the PlayStation conference at this year's Paris Game Week we were treated right at the end to the latest trailer for The Last of Us Part II. (be warned that it is fairly brutal in its content) I have to admit that while watching it I was unsure as to whether it was live action or not, but after a few minutes it eventually became clear that this was in fact a game. However, that didn't take away from the beautifully shot sequence and in fact made it even more impressive to view. NSFW Reason
  2. Gran Turismo Sport Demo A Gran Turismo Sport demo has been confirmed in a posting on the official PlayStation EU blog by Polyphony Digital President, Kazunori Yamauchi. In true GT-style, this demo is not of the typical affair. For a start it will last for only 4 days, however it will also act as a springboard to the full game as the in-game credit earned in that time, up to a maximum of $1MM, can be transferred over. Available free from the PlayStation Store, from 0900/9AM GMT on 9th October through 1300/1PM GMT 12th October, with pre-download active 48-hours earlier, the demo is sure to provide a real good look at the main areas of the game. The game modes in the demo The start will see players given the option to experience a respectable amount of the Sport, Campaign, or Arcade modes. With Sport mode, players set out to put in the fastest lap during each qualifying session, before a race against those of similar ability and skill takes place. This is the mode that GT Sport is all about and should make for some fantastic, fair (?) and extremely competitive races for all with its clever match-making. Campaign mode may be named that but it’s taken a lot of flack for sounding and looking more like a glorified version of the older License test feature of previous games. Describing it more as a Racing School is probably more accurate as in here it is all about learning how to drive and race better. Taking on challenges, missions, and learning the circuits and their ways in the effort to make players, better drivers. The rewarding of vehicle unlocks, in-game currency, and Experience Points for the completion of the trials and 'Daily Workouts' do allow it to have some merit as a campaign, but for long-time fans and those used to a typical racing campaign, it might be sorely lacking. They haven’t forgotten all you out there who just want to jump in a car and hit a track either, as Arcade mode, the old favourite, is there. With a few button presses players can choose from a range of vehicle classes on 3 pre-selected circuit layouts with different terrains and just have fun. Whether you want to go for high-speed oval racing on Northern Isle, hone your technical skills on Dragon Trail, or drift sideways through the corners in rally, race on your own terms as you choose from multiple driving aids including braking and or steering to hone your skills. And even though it’s a feature mostly not seen these days, it is really nice to see that the classic 2-player split screen mode is still about. Enough with the racing, I want to play! In addition to all the racing, players will get to sample the 'Scapes' photo mode and the new to the series Livery Editor. The former has many fanatics of the always popular photo mode really excited, whereas the latter just has lots saying to themselves, ‘finally!’. That being said, if the creativity and quality that is found in other titles can be replicated in the editor, then we should be in for a treat at the creations that will be on display. A new Gran Turismo is always an event, but it's been tough being a fan of it as it's always seemed to go its own (strange?) way, whereas other titles have continued to do better, raising the bar in areas GT used to excel at. And over the time of it’s development we have seen and heard promising things about the improvements they have been making, but will it be enough? Well this demo will at least answer some of that, so at least players aren't having to go in blind. [via PlayStation EU blog]
  3. Limited Edition Gran Turismo Sport PS4 Bundle The Gran Turismo series is well-known for being a system seller for PlayStation, and so just like the special console bundles that have come before, a new Gran Turismo Sport PlayStation 4 bundle has been announced to coincide with the first foray of the Polyphony Digital series on the near 4-year-old! console when it lands from October 18th. (man they take their time!) Being more than just a nice box design with a standard system and game inside, this special edition PS4 is actually a good looking piece of kit from what we can see, with a special silver faceplate atop a black contrasting body, adorned with the obligatory GT logo. And gosh darn it, too often we see the system itself getting the special treatment alone, not this time though, as the controller also gets treated to a new paint scheme, sharing the same silver and black combination of that of the system. Available only as a standard PS4 and surprisingly not also in a PS4 Pro guise, the bundle includes a customised PS4 1TB console, controller, and a Day 1 edition of GT Sport. Oh and GT fans outwith the UK, Europe and Australia need not apply, as it’s only available in those regions, sorry. What is the premium for this? Umm well, that’s not actually known at this time. The limited edition console comes with a Day 1 edition of the game which provides access to $250,000 in-game credits, livery sticker packs, a chrome racing helmet and 60 PS4 avatars. Not having the system available in a PS4 Pro example seems a bit of a misjudgement as the title is enhanced for the system and if there is one thing that the series is known for, it’s being a graphical tour de force. Therefore, a high-end special edition would make sense, right? Those already who have their systems but really like the look of the controller will be thrilled to know that it will be available to buy separately or as a bundle with a standard copy of the game, (why not the Day 1!!! - Gah!), along with the normal PS4 bundles detailed below: Other Gran Turismo Sport PS4 Bundles That’s not all though – we have more bundles available to suit every player which all come with a standard copy of Gran Turismo Sport: Jet Black PS4 1 TB edition Jet Black PS4 500GB edition Jet Black PS4 1TB + extra Jet Black DUALSHOCK 4 edition Jet Black PS4 Pro edition Questionable decisions aside, the wait for a PS4 Gran Turismo game is almost over, and let’s just hope, it was worth it. 4. PlayStation Plus will be increasing in price in Europe from the end of August this year. Players all over the world were told about the change in an email that started arriving earlier today in their email inboxes. Sony say the price hike is to "reflect various market conditions", whatever that means. Brexit to blame? :para: [via PlayStation Plus price hike announced for Europe Eurogamer.net]
  5. GT Sport Release Date Revealed? At E3 we got only a tentative ‘Fall’ release date for Gran Turismo Sport via a very nice trailer. But now, maybe, because of the latest July edition of the Official PlayStation magazine we just might have a date we can pin our hopes on: November 16th. There’s been numerous rumours and hearsay about when the game will finally release but this one does have some backing compared to the other December 31st placeholder types that retailers are mainly showing. And GT has been a game that has in the past liked their end of year release dates, usually favouring December, and so it would be very fitting to see this happen. OPM has in the past been the revealer of unknown release dates (or been close to them) and with the game intending to originally drop in November 2016, it is as good a date as any to place your bets on. 6. Gran Turismo Will Finally Have Porsche! After damn near 20 years, Porsche is finally making its official appearance in Gran Turismo. The iconic brand has been sorely missed from the racing titan, except for a hidden away attempt back in the GT3 days where Kazunori Yamauchi tried to get his own 996 GT3 into the game, but unfortunately had to suffer the disappointment of not being able to make this happen because EA went and snatched the licence all for themselves, meaning the car was made unplayable or removed depending on the disc's region. In this the year of two-thousand-and-seventeen, that exclusivity hostage taking of the famous German manufacturer has now been severed, and now the marques’ legends and backlog are starting to show up in so many top racing titles that you could easily forget the whole sorry affair even happened. (I however won’t and in fact do still cry at least once a month thinking about it :() Porsche's inclusion in the forthcoming GT Sport was revealed through a posting on the official PlayStation Spain twitter, where an image containing the very highly-sought after modern Porsche 911 GT3 RS was paired with the news about the game's European Beta starting this weekend. Naturally the realisation that Porsche was finally in Gran Turismo, quickly overtook the whole ‘Woohoo Euro Beta is here!’ excitement. This announcement was quickly followed by more glorious images of Porsche metal (albeit the same model) from GT Sport's photo and Scapes modes. Initial impressions of the Beta from those lucky sods in the USA who have been able to play seem pretty positive too, apart from those sounds. They’re better sure, but when you got the competition blasting out those authentic sounds you need to step this up in your own game. [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="6728,6729,6726] What is interesting is that we are probably likely to see GT Sport and the new Forza Motorsport 7 come out around the same time, or at least know of and will have seen both in action with the presumable Forza 7 debut being at this year’s E3. And with the new Forza being a poster-child for Project Scorpio, that shouldn't be looking too shabby either. Yep, things are looking good for the racing fan yet again! GT Sport is still slated for a 2017 release and with the improvements being seen and this announcement of Porsche being in, things are only getting better and the delay is looking ever more like the right decision. Rough for RUF? Perhaps not many of you are even thinking about this now that Porsche are in but I want to know what happens to RUF now? As much as I love the 911 in most of its guises and a number of the brand’s offerings past and present, I still adore RUF’s CTR ‘Yellowbird’ and their R turbo, Rt12 and others. It would be a real shame to lose these but then if it comes down to having to choose between either Porsche or RUF, then the former is going to be the popular choice, and rightly so. However in my opinion, it would be a shame to lose RUF completely.
  7. PlayStation Experience GT Sport A stupidly gorgeous new trailer for GT Sport has been unveiled at this year’s PlayStation Experience for us to feast on. Looking absolutely stunning and highlighting key visual features that the game will incorporate such as 4K support on PS4 Pro, HDR lighting and VR, we are also given looks at multiple forms of racing including rally and night racing along with the whole pre-race build-up as crews prepare the cars which are then seen pulling out of their boxes and lining up behind the pace car on the grid. In a game that is endorsed by the FIA it stands to reason that the whole show is being recreated accurately. It’s a nice touch but like the pre-game build-up sequences in football games such as FIFA and Pro Evo, it will likely be watched once or maybe twice before the ‘Skip’ option will be used every time thereafter. The trailer is clearly a technical look-at-this, rather than anything substantial about how players will actually play through it which is fine but with the other racing games out and due out (Forza 7) this has to be a title full of substance, and less about just the style; no matter how well it does it. Sound is well done in the trailer though it is more than likely dubbed as if there is one thing the past has taught us, and as George 'Dubya' so eloquently put: ‘fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice… *pause* ...you can’t get fooled again’ – so yeah we’ll wait and see before tearing up at those visuals if the sound once again makes us want to tear our hair out. Oh yeah, it’s out in 2017. Not early 2017, or summer 2017, or late 2017, no, just 2017.
  8. Better sound? That would be Grand With every new Gran Turismo there is always that inevitable wait, delay and disappointment felt due to the lack of attention in the areas that have been cried out to be improved by its community and fans. GT Sport was looking to continue this tradition on – and may still do so – but with the announcement recently that the new GT will support 4K, HDR and in a rather surprising admission, not have VR being fully-playable but instead having a ‘VR Tour’ mode, it certainly seemed to be more of the same with little attention not being paid again to those areas that need it. However off-screen videos captured at Paris Games Week and the Paris Motor Show are showing a cause for excitement as an area that has been sorely lacking for the series, sound, is showing a real sense of improvement. Gone is the super screechy tyre squealing, replaced instead with a real-world noise that is more authentic and hints to what the car is doing. And when you have reports like this by Eurogamer showing their surprise at the sound being thrown out by what they are playing, there has to be something going on that people are noticing. Engine notes are starting to properly resemble those of the real thing – the Mercedes-AMG GT S seen in the video by PlaneteGT above has that throaty angry sound that AMG Mercs are known for and the Dodge Charger shown in the video by MotoGamesTV below has a real grunt to it. It’s not perfect but it is an improvement for sure. There is still work to be done but it does suggest that the grab of the former Forza Audio technician was a damn good one, and that they are showing Polyphony Digital how to do what has been asked for so long. If Kaz and co can see just how much accurate sound means to people then there is a real hope that GT Sport, even if not a proper GT title (that will be GT7) because of its more esports focus could be the game to take the GT series out of the shadows that it is, in my opinion, now in due to titles such as Forza Motorsport, Assetto Corsa (though still needing work on the multiplayer side) and even Project CARS. Considering how long it has taken to get into and tackle this area, I guess we might see accurate damage represented in GT8 ??? GT Sport is due out in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and will be enhanced for PS4 Pro along with some doodads for PS VR.
  9. DRIVECLUB Urban Tracks When PlayStation VR released, one of the first titles to properly take advantage of and show what was so good about Virtual Reality was DRIVECLUB VR. Releasing as a full title it was only right that it received brand new content that wasn’t in the normal release and so a selection of new tracks set in urban environments was included. It could have been left like that but no, as continuing on with the fantastic post-release support that Evolution Studios oozed upon DRIVECLUB, it was revealed that these new tracks would also hit the original game in a free future update. Announced via the PlayStation Europe twitter, ‘The Urban Tracks’ update adds 15 new tracks that can also be run in reverse and sees the new layouts of: Gujo in Japan; Ashii in India, Iquique in Chile; Port of Vancouver in Canada and Bryggen in Norway added to the standard game. Weighing in at close to 6GB this update is no small thing and continues to show the decision by Sony to close down Evolution Studios to be a real head scratcher as to why they did so. This team is not only talented, they are passionate, take immense pride in their work and have a scary attention to detail. What more could you ask for?! Our good friends at MotoGamesTV have captured some vids of the new tracks. A small message from what is more than likely the squad at Evolution is included at the end of the changelog for the Version 1.28 update: "Thanks for your support. Thanks for your commitment. Farewell and enjoy the game!" it reads. :( Yes ‘Farewell’ to Evo, but HELLO!! to Rushy and the team that are working on a racing game for Codemasters and a big best of luck! to the rest of Evo wherever you clever sausages have ended up! [via twitter]
  10. DRIVECLUB VR RELEASE The novelty can easily wear off if there is nothing much to play on your newly acquired piece of kit but it looks like PlayStation VR will not have that worry as it has been announced that DRIVECLUB VR will be a launch title. Featuring five new urban locales, which make up most of the 30 never playable before tracks, more than 80 cars, a new Tour, new modes and lots of exclusive to VR features such as the stupidly cool 'Virtual Passenger' where the player can sit in the passenger seat during replays, the simcade racer is sure to be a title that will show off the perks of VR when it releases on October 13th. With the new environments bringing the total number of track layouts to 114 there will be plenty for players to do and look at. And don’t worry normal DRIVECLUB owners as these will also be coming to your game as part of a free update. Season Pass owners continue to get great value for their money also, as those who decide to buy the game digitally will receive a small (unknown) discount on their purchase as a reward. More information on how this will work is still to come. For those who enjoy fence sitting, they will be happy to know that there will also be a free playable demo provided with the headset to help them make certain that a purchase of this game is worth their hard-earned monies. 11. GT Sporting more of the same? The Tokyo Game Show (TGS) took place last week and Polyphony Digital was there with Gran Turismo Sport and thanks to the top gaming media site Gamersyde, we have lots of off-screen footage. With varying levels of competency on display from those sitting in front of the wheel we can see that the visuals are looking rather nice. Nothing unusual in that as this is a GT title after all. The HUD looks to have been given another couple of changes in places and not knowing the language the GUI is in, there is a part where the car you have chosen is shown from different views while technical details fade in via varying transitions too. Perhaps a way of displaying the selected vehicle's data or maybe a loading screen? Out of the videos by Gamersyde from their channel and available at their site in full-quality (and when available at 60 fps!) the following is our pick that we feel show the game off fairly well and is accompanied by – mostly – competent driving. In the above video where the player is running a race on an Oval, we see that the game appears to be running fairly smooth but that the typical GT tyre sound, collision physics and maybe even the AI keeps on with the usual. Why these areas hardly seem to get the attention the GT fan base shouts out for is a hard one to reason. Up next is a medium-speed affair around Brands Hatch GP circuit, where the driver at least appears to want to win by doing their best to race clean and keep good lines through the corners. It might just be a trick of the shadowing but at times to us it looked like some of the cars were floating, especially at the front and do not seem to have their wheels planted on the tarmac. You may not notice this however as the sun reflecting off the windows and bodywork may have temporarily blinded you. The final pick of the media on offer is an attempt at the fictional Fisherman’s Ranch rally track. Featuring plenty of bumps and sections where the rear of your car will peel out regardless of whether you meant to or not. We see our Japanese friend doing their best to keep the car pointing forward as they tackle what is looking to be a tricky course, though the flimsy looking yet impenetrable orange surrounding does seem a bit dated. With the delay to 2017 we hope PD really look at some of what the competition offer and aim to replicate it. Gamersyde offer all of the above videos and the rest of their media in full-quality downloads and when available at 60 fps too. Be sure to add them to your bookmarks if you don’t already!
  12. [headline]PlayStation Meeting[/headline] The PlayStation Meeting event is about to get underway in NYC where we are expecting to see the official reveal of the leaked PS4 Slim and our first look at the PlayStation 4K or PS4 Neo as it is also known. Rumours and info have been around a good part of the year about the upgraded PS4 but what exactly is it and how will it compare to Project Scorpio, the next piece hardware to come from the Xbox division. Mutterings of first-looks at some top titles and maybe even a new handheld or some sort of mobile tie-in have also been heard over the air but for the most part, Sony have kept what will be shown at this pretty locked down. Live stream: Twitch
  13. GT Sport Delay For anyone who was wondering whether GT Sport was a proper Gran Turismo, that question has been answered, with the announced delay that the game has been pushed to 2017. (is that the Gregorian 2017 though?) There is no mention of the when in 2017 but if past experiences are any indication then chances are it might be late 2017 as GTs have had a tendency to release at the very ends of their proposed years. It will not be alone though, as 2017 will also be the hit marker of the ever reliable 2-year development window where a new Forza Motorsport tends to show itself, meaning that we could see both titles out around the same time. And in the past it has been easy to see how the old dog of GT seems to falter behind the exceptional and ever willing to bring new features to the table Forza series of games, despite having so much more time to get the bloody game done! Yes it’s hard being a GT fan. Waiting and waiting, hearing stupid decisions and the same old non-attention to what has been cried out as needing attention but, it’s still a series that draws in the buyers and sells well. Recent releases haven’t done the numbers as past glories but a good few million will still fly off the shelves and be downloaded as after all, it is a new Gran Turismo. Maybe it’s even easy to hate GT now, becoming more like an expect the worse (as in just more of the same) and hope to be surprised if it delivers. In the end however, it is a GT game on the latest Sony PlayStation and by that account it will excitedly be awaited by the fans, and some of the more casual will as always be drawn in when they see it running some place. Believe it or not I am actually a GT fan, it's just difficult not be tired of the series seeming to stagnate and the issues that get mentioned never seeming to get a look.
  14. The Real Pic Taking Simulator A large amount of new screens have been released for GT Sport and with them we can see that Polyphony Digital have been busy little squirrels. (why... why squirrels?) 2016 has been a bit of a torrid affair for Gran Turismo fans, starting with the FIA-partnered event in July that seemed to show a less than stellar looking version of the game. As is the case though with anything GT, that worry is being put to bed with every morsel of media and impression that manages to slide out. The latest is this dumping of 78 images featuring a selection of road, racing and rally cars on a variety of circuits, along with a first look at a new to GT dirt location called – if the banners plotted along the course are to be believed – Fishermans Ranch. With steep uphill sections that inevitably end up in a jump and some high-speed sections with some hairpin bends at the end, this new addition will ideally turn out to be another well-designed fictional environment that the Polyphony team do so well. As you may know, the main man behind GT, Kazunori Yamauchi, is an avid racer and can regularly be found participating in major races such as the Nürburgring 24 hour. In that race this year he was one of the drivers who raced in the #101 BMW M6 GT3 and this car, just like a number of his previous will appear in GT Sport. Visuals have never been an issue for the series and natural colouring and lighting has always been a strong point of the GT series and again Polyphony are looking to excel at this better than any other. Always being able to get the most out of the hardware that’s available and continuing to impress onlookers (usually family) with those glorious replays. It is of course a little tricky to judge a GT game by only its still images as they have almost always been through the usual the post-processing tricks. However, What is clear to see, is that the game will be a looker and that with every day from now until release it looks like Polyphony are well on the case of bringing Sport up to scratch. And with PlayStation VR coming fast and the rumoured more powerful Neo version of the PS4 likely to be unveiled at a Sony event next month, the potential of this game is increasing massively. Good things come to those who wait. Indeed. Gran Turismo Sport is scheduled for release exclusively for the Playstation 4 on November 15th in North America and Asia, November 16th in Europe, and the UK gets whatever is left in the cargo container on the 18th. 15. No Man's Sky Pillar Trailers As the release of No Man's Sky crawls ever so closer, Sony have been releasing a series of trailers that give you a glimpse of the 4 basic areas of the game. Explore, Fight, Trade and Survive. There are just 19 more sleeps left till the game hits the stores on August 10th in Europe or the 9th in good old 'Murica. First up is the Explore trailer which you may have seen in my previous article may not have seen in my previous article a couple of weeks back, turns out my memory is getting cloudy in my old age, this trailer hadn't even been released back then! But if not, then for your viewing pleasure, here it is again. Next up is the second trailer which gives you an insight into the different ways in which you can fight in No Man's Sky. There sure are some odd looking creatures out there in the Universe, that's for sure. But judge for yourself. And last(for now) but not least is the trade trailer. This is the type of game play that I can see myself leaning towards thanks to my e-hoarding inclinations. Update 27 July The fourth, and probably final Pillar trailer is below in it's full 60 second glory. The theme for this is, yes, you guessed it, Survive. If you didn't get it then I think you should go and sit on the naughty step for a while and think about what you have done. Your Universe Awaits.
  16. PlayStation 4 Update 3.50 Available Now As well as being hard at work closing down studios, Sony have also been hard at working further improving the PlayStation 4. Here are the 4 most notable features added/improved in 3.50: Appear offline Friend online notifications Remote Play for PC and Mac Custom Scheduled events Appear Offline Have you ever been on your PS4 and just wanted to chill out and watch a film or play on a game on your own with no interruptions only to be bombarded by messages and invites from one of those friends that do everything they can to drive you up the wall? *breathes* Well fear not, you can now appear offline and do your own thing. Friend Notifications Another feature that has been slightly copied from the Xbox is friend online notifications. For those of you who have friends that are seemingly attached to you at the hip you can now set a notification that pops up when they pop online so you can spend more precious time together. How sweet? Remote Play Remote Play is now not exclusive to handheld devices like the Xperia phones and the PS Vita. If you own a powerful enough PC or Mac you will be able to use it to play PS4 games by plugging your DualShock 4 controller in via USB. So if you really really want to you can play a bit of CoD or NFS whilst sat on the throne with your laptop on your lap. I think this will makes some peoples lives complete! You can download the Remote Play software from here if you're running Windows 8.1 or higher and Mac OSX 10.10 or 10.11. The max resolution is only 720p but do you really need more than that when on the throne? 17. Thanks Evo for the Good Times! Sony decided to unveil just before the Easter bank holiday that they were in the process of closing down Evolution Studios (also gave us WRC and Motorstorm) which means that DRIVECLUB, at least eventually will be nothing more than a distant memory. Happy Easter everybody. A game that has shown so much promise and so much potential is going to be pulled away from right in front of us. Much like another franchise that a lot of us have fond memories of. Sony's statement: Regular reviews take place throughout SCE Worldwide Studios, ensuring that the resources that we have in such a competitive landscape can create and produce high quality, innovative and commercially viable projects. As part of this process we have reviewed and assessed all current projects and plans for the short and medium term and have decided to make some changes to the European studios structure. As a result, it has been decided that Evolution Studio will close. It is regrettable that this decision will lead to compulsory redundancies. We accept that this decision will mean that we risk losing high calibre staff but by focusing on other Studios that already have exciting new projects in development we believe we will be in a stronger position going forward and able to offer the best possible content of the highest quality for our consumers. Where possible we will try to reallocate people onto other projects. If appropriate opportunities are not possible within the company, we will assist staff in any way we can, including speaking with local employers and with other development companies. Evolution has been an important part of SCE Worldwide Studios for over 10 years - working on ground-breaking racing titles like WRC, Motorstorm and DRIVECLUB. This decision should not take anything away from the great work that Evolution has produced. Evo Game Director, Paul Rustchynsky and Senior Community Manager, Jamie Brayshaw took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the closure: On the bright side, the former Content and Community Manager of Need For Speed 2015 developer Ghost Games would be happy to see them join the team. (who wouldn't!) Evo pushed the boundaries of the technology and created masterpieces that will be remembered in the hearts and minds of their many fans. They will be missed. We at turboduck wish the whole team good luck for the future and look forward to seeing what they do next. Hopefully the DRIVECLUB IP will do well within the PlayStation household and will get the attention it had been getting from Evo, although it's hard to say to if the talent and passion they showed the game will continue with whichever outfit gets tasked with it next. Perhaps it might even be sold on to another developer (we hear Activision love to kill good things - still missing you Bizarre Creations) who can and will do the game justice. Or maybe even the staff of Evolution Studios will split from Sony and start up again. Check out this teasing tweet from the former game director... There's still hours of enjoyment to be had from DRIVECLUB for myself with the recent purchase of the bikes expansion still to explore. So for the time being we can still all enjoy the game as it stands, but without any future updates from those that took it to where it is now. I for one would like to say a massive thank you to all of those involved with the making of DRIVECLUB and also everyone (developers and players) for persevering through it's somewhat questionable and rocky start to life, helping make it into the game that we have today. Good luck to those that will be affected as a result of this studio closure and all the best for your future!
  18. [headline]PlayStation VR October 2016 $399 €399 £349[/headline] [media=twitter]709849975182663680[/media] In a small venue for what is the typical nature of these presentations, Sony has revealed that the PlayStation VR will be out October 2016 and will cost: $399 €399 £349. Thanks to a Periscope stream by Geoff Keighley many were able to watch this being revealed by Andrew House LIVE (what an age we live in). So there you go, the previous comment by a senior Sony representative about PSVR costing about the same as a whole new system was right on the button. Will you jump in or has VR got to prove itself before you consider it? UPDATE: The prices stated are for the head unit and it's accessories, the camera and Move controllers are separate.
  19. DRIVECLUB Drift March The March update for DRIVECLUB is out and Evolution Studios continue to better the racer by bringing the changes and requests of their playerbase to the game. Beginning with the big change that 1.27 will bring, is that Drift scoring is much improved, points awarded will actually now make sense and will require the fundamental techniques of drifting in order to get that score shooting up. There will be no more bending the rules as if you were Neo in the Matrix, as driving slow, using your vehicle as some sort of lawnmower or using the walls will result in a penalty. Therefore, you will need to have the angle, speed and preferably stay on the black stuff in order to get a good mark from the virtual judges. Accompanying this radical change of the scoring system is a reset of all Drift Mode leaderboards to ensure a level playing field race course for all involved. Driver, Club and Elite Levels have been given another stretching too, taking the caps for Driver and Club to 120 and Elite to 60, with Elite and Club also having new livery rewards that can be unlocked as players progress. One of the smaller but very cool things Evo do is feature community taken photo mode pictures within the game's menus. This time they've went one step further and created a monster collage using thousands of #PS4share images for the loading screen of both DRIVECLUB and DRIVECLUB BIKES. DRIVECLUB UPDATE 1.27 changelog: New Drift Mode scoring: Fast and precise drifts now earn much bigger scores. Going off track, driving slowly or colliding with walls will result in a penalty to prevent exploits. All Drift Mode leaderboards will be reset in the days following the update to ensure they offer a level playing field. 25 new Elite Levels have been added (new cap is 60). 25 new Driver Levels have been added (new cap is 120) with new livery rewards to unlock along the way. 35 new Club Levels have been added (new cap is 120) with new livery rewards to unlock along the way. The game menus have been updated with new ‪#‎PS4share‬ imagery to showcase some of our most loved #PS4share photo mode snaps. Keep them coming! The loading screen for DRIVECLUB now shows off an awesome new #PS4share community photo collage made up of thousands of your pictures. The loading screen for DRIVECLUB BIKES also shows off an awesome new #PS4share community photo collage made up of thousands of your pictures. Includes general improvements for game performance, stability and usability. The update (0.3GB) is available now and will download automatically when launching the game while connected to PSN. 20. PSN Down Yet Again We're only 4 days in to 2016 but Sony has already tripped up with the PlayStation Network. PSN is experiencing worldwide outages affecting all major services from online gaming down to the mobile app. Even those who are trying to play certain games in single player mode are unable due to the always online nature of some games. They have offered no explanation as to what has caused the downtime that started a few hours ago and have also not offered a rough idea as to when we can expect the network to be back up and running again. And if past experiences are anything to go by, we won't hear anything until the issues have been fixed in hours or maybe days? The latest service statuses can be seen on the PlayStation website here.

  23. ON YOUR BIKE CLUB A number of hours ago PEGI published a record for a new game called 'DRIVECLUB Bikes' (some Sony muppet also posted images showing DRIVECLUB Bikes on the official PlayStation Blog Flickr). And would you believe it, it turns out that it was in fact true. Announced and shown during the Sony conference at Paris Games Week was DRIVECLUB Bikes. Now if you are an idiot you will need me to tell you that this means that bikes have come to DRIVECLUB. Offerings from the likes of Kawasaki, Yamaha, KTM, MV Agusta and Ducati are available for you to play out your own high-speed weaving through environments in all weathers fantasies, without the fear of ending up on your arse or being in a complete plaster body cast that is seen in cartoons. FEATURES 12 of the world’s best superbikes: Featuring bikes from top manufacturers including Yamaha, Ducati, Kawasaki, Honda, BMW, and more. Full Bikes Tour campaign: We’ve designed a new game mode and loads of events to help you get to grips with bikes and ultimately challenge you to master every superbike in the game. Unlimited Challenges: Create and compete in new challenges to show off and test your speed, agility, and skills with bikes. Personalised events: Create your own events on any track, in any mode, at any time, and with near limitless weather conditions. Multiplayer racing: Take advantage of the extra space on every track with opportunities to overtake on every corner in heated wheel-to-wheel action. Customisation: Personalize your bikes and your rider, including paint jobs, rider leathers, and custom helmets. Clubs: Everything you do in Driveclub Bikes contributes to the success of your Club, unlocking new rewards, accolades, customization and challenges. Being from the meticulous mad sods at Evolution Studios (Evo) you know these bikes are going to look the business. Everything about the real thing is recreated in and on the digital version and should you feel the urge tomorrow to go to a moped store tomorrow and buy one, you can be safe in the knowledge that the dials and gauges you will see on the real thing will be exactly as they were in the game; meaning there should be no embarrassing moments of crying when you see something different to what the game has. Even more insane is that the video was a Sega Saturn moment from Sony and Evo, as the update, both available in standalone and a DLC, was available right after shortly not long within an hour of when they said it would be. ;) If you love DRIVECLUB get this, if you love bikes get this, if you... hell just get it ok! 24. GT SPORT The PlayStation conference at Paris Game Week has finished and with it we got our first look and information about Gran Turismo SPORT for PlayStation 4. The next instalment in the GT series, due in 2016 (we'll see) is taking full advantage of their partnership with the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) and will have players competing in year-long championships with their favourite manufacturers and racing for their own country's honour. And In a first for video game racing, it is said that the winners will be awarded their spoils in the same manner as real world motorsport champions at an FIA prize giving ceremony. FIA Gran Turismo Championships In Gran Turismo Sport, there will be two online championships officially sanctioned by the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) running simultaneously. In the Nations Cup, players will be able represent their home country. Whilst in the Manufacturers Cup, players will be driving on behalf of their favorite car manufacturer. Players will not only be able to race as drivers themselves, they’ll also be able to root for their home country or their favorite manufacturers teams. The winner of the championship will be awarded in the same manner as real life motorsports champions, at the FIA prize giving ceremony. This will be a historic moment, the first time a video game will officially be recognised as part of the real motoring world. The usual graphical, audio and physics updates were mentioned and it is not clear at this time how many cars will be in or if we will see the 'standards' return (hope not!), but what we do know is it looks damn good, it showed us some great looking cars and one driver had a very very shiny helmet. A Beta for GT Sport is due in Spring 2016. Thanks: PlayStation Blog | gran-turismo.com [yop_poll id=1]
  25. this game looks awsome! :D some info found on the web: "Sony Online Entertainment has unveiled its next project, a massively multiplayer online game called H1Z1 that is set in a post-apocalyptic world. According to Sony Online Entertainment, the free-to-play game will see players "fight for survival" in a world ravaged by a fictional virus named H1Z1. Set 15 years after the initial outbreak, players will face the Infected, wild animals, and other survivors. The game will include scavenging and crafting elements. The main thing that differentiates H1Z1 from the other great games in the genre is the emphasis we are putting on player ownership and building. We want you to be able to form roving gangs that are headquartered out of an abandoned warehouse that you’ve taken over... or a house you’ve built from scratch after having cut trees down and secured the resources to make it." Beta version is coming in six weeks for 20$. platform PC and PS4 Current Features: - Very large map (very very large) - dynamic Day/night cicle - customizable weapons / vehicles - craft system - first/third peson view gameplay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lneZYriSbG4
