  1. Project CARS 2 – VR ‘Driver Eye’ Videos The media is pouring out from those who are lucky enough to be involved in the development of Project CARS 2 and YouTube user beetesjuice is one of the best I have found doing so through these ‘Driver Eye’ videos. Sharing with us the footage of the runs they have engaged in with their sim-racer enthusiast setup, complete with racing wheel and VR, we first see them fight hard to try and control a wild Lamborghini Diablo GTR against a hard-fighting AI opponent at Oulton Park. Being a massive Diablo fan it is only natural that this one would grab me and I might be showing bias because of that, however turn up your volume and just watch and you will see why I picked this one out first. Because as I am a big fan of touring cars and DTM – especially those in the 90s – it was a delight to find this next one, as it contains so many icons of the times and legends of the series that it just felt like watching some of those old races again. I could honestly fill this page up with these videos but I am going to restrain myself and only post a few. Last of which is this race with a Toyota GT-One at Daytona Road, where the main fight is amongst a Ferrari F50 GT trio. The AI appear more confident on this track than the driver we are watching but over the time of the race you can see the confidence rising, as the daylight fades. There’s even more of these on the beetesjuice channel which if you like what you see here, I highly recommend you go and check out. Project CARS 2 is out for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on September 22nd, 2017.
  2. Project CARS² After being teased by the numerous leaks and unofficial mutterings over the past few months, we are finally getting our first official look at Project CARS 2! ‘Difficult Second Album’ syndrome doesn’t seem to apply to pCARS2, with the trailer showing that it is improving on the high benchmark set by its predecessor. Other studios should be concerned with just how much Slightly Mad Studios are planning to include in this game, they are without a doubt living up to their name. The game will arrive sometime in late 2017 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The Trailer: In the video we are shown features such as day to night, fully dynamic weather including snow and icy conditions, and so many vehicles that it is clear pCARS2 will have much more than what the original offered. The accompanying info below the video states that there will be “over 170 licensed cars” and that it will have the “largest track roster ever on console” which is a huge increase over the pCARS1 inventory of vehicles and a strong statement to make in regards to the amount of circuits. Being a technical showcase, support for 12K and VR is also a given and no doubt will be shown in all its glory on some snazzy new Panasonic gear. (that deal is still in place right?) Because of fan feedback, eSports and player championships have also been given a boost and will see some excellent features ensuring that pCARS2 is the go-to game for those who want to run these events. A multitude of new locations can be seen, such as an ice circuit set within a snowy wilderness however the traditional tracks such as the Nurburgring and Brands Hatch are still present. Rest assured that the new Ice Circuit will push the traction of whatever you choose to drive to the limit! New vehicles are also a given, with the Aston Martin Vulcan, new Honda NSX and a green wheeled Ford F150 being a few examples highlighted in the trailer’s footage. And if rumours are true, Lamborghini, Porsche and Ferrari could make an appearance. Previously, it was easy to excuse Porsche due to the EA exclusivity agreement, but Lamborghini and Ferrari were sorely missed from the first game and so fingers crossed that pCARS2 remedies this. It is looking more promising for Porsche though as that stupid exclusivity deal is finally dead as of the end of last year. All in all this game is shaping up very nicely and appears even at this early stage to be deserving of its ‘Ultimate Driver Journey’ tagline. If they can nail all that they have already shown and keep the game running smoothly and stable with less of the bugs and problems that the first one occasionally suffered from, then they could very well smash the opposition. 3. Project CARS 2Million! Crowd-funded sim-racer Project CARS has now sold over 2 million copies Slightly Mad Studios have announced. A long time in the making and the first game that really ventured into getting ordinary people to dip into their own pockets in order to not only fund, but also to help shape the title into the vision both the developer and community had in mind, was an interesting one to watch. There was a few of us here at turboduck who participated in contributing to this project and despite a number initially jumping in for the originally touted Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, the change to the newer consoles was a tough one to swallow, but ultimately was the right one. And yes it has had its fair share of bumps along the road and certainly has its haters too. The Xbox One version in particular has suffered with performance issues and bugs, however for the most part, on PC and PS4 it is still one of the best games out there for racing fans. The multi-million sales of Project CARS validates not only our revolutionary racing simulation, but also our unique World of Mass Development platform. From the onset, we believed that our groundbreaking way of funding games, alongside our commitment to working with our customers and listening to what they wanted from a racing simulation, would push us in the right direction.” - Ian Bell, CEO at Slightly Mad Studios Hearing that the game has broken past the 2 million barrier is great to hear and bodes well for the sequel that is currently in development, this time with a different funding practice n place but still along the same lines as the previous in getting normal people involved. With the added competition from Assetto Corsa and the Forza series ever striving to reach new heights in what it delivers – and of course now being made for PC too – Project CARS 2 will find itself in a tough fight for the attentions of racing enthusiasts. Hell, maybe Gran Turismo Sport will turn out to be better than just a typical GT game and be another rival to contend with. 4. What a sixpack! Slightly Mad Studios' Project CARS just keeps growing as Audi has just been announced to become the latest brand to join the community-assisted simulator! As many as six Audis are joining the game, including the latest rendition of their supercar: the 2013 R8 V10 Plus as well as its big brother, the 2013 R8 LMS Ultra GT3, which will challenge the recently announced Bentley amongst other GT3 racers. The 1989 90 IMSA GTO is a beast that could prove to be tough but rewarding to control and it will surely find its own fans. Le Mans heritage is not forgotten as included are both the 2002 R8 LMP900 and the 2011 R18 TDI LMP1, both of which have shown their domination at the track. Last but not least is my personal favourite, the small 2012 A1 Quattro - a 256hp version of Audi's tiny A1 which I'm really eager to test! All of these cars will surely be great fun to drive and they'll be hitting the tracks in Fall 2014 when Project CARS is released for the PS4, Xbox One, SteamOS, Wii U and of course PC. 5. Most Excellent! Radical! The word that was said by everyone from Bill & Ted to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is synonymous with something that is of course totally tubular! And this works in well with the latest news about the licensing of Radical Sportscars to appear in Slightly Mad Studios' most triumphant crowd-funded racer Project CARS. Three of the British company's righteous vehicles will appear including the canopy-having RXC Turbo coupe which is in a departure for the prototype racers actually fully road-legal, and are said to "play a pivotal role in Project CARS' extensive career mode". Project CARS puts players behind the wheel of the race-ready SR3 "RS version" that is powered by a 260bhp Powertec 1500cc 4-cylinder engine. Drivers who have successfully mastered the SR3 RS can graduate to the SR8 RX. A faster and more powerful version of the SR3, the SR8 RX is powered by a RPX 2.7 liter V8 engine, giving aspiring racers 430hp to prove themselves with. Radical in Project CARS Radical SR3 RS Radical SR8 RX Radical RXC Turbo Radical Sportscars for Project CARS [gallery size=gallery-thumbnail" itemtag="div" icontag="span" link="file" columns="3] Project CARS is due out on PC, PS4, Xbox One and .....Wii U around Autumn/Fall 2014. 6. Carlsberg don't make Trailers... It seems that the crowd-funded project by Slightly Mad Studios Project Cars has been going on forever, in fact you could almost believe that Moses himself was playing the latest build when the burning bush pestered him to pay attention but alas we are here in 2014 and this looks to be the actual year when we will see the game actually released! Yeah I know how crazy is that? Those of you who have followed and are an active part of the games' development will know how it has progressed and continues to just surprise and make jaws drop with each passing phase and goal met by the development team. And with the recent move from the Xbox 360 and PS3 to their next-gen successors it's clearly evident that this game is going to be the looker of the bunch and will hopefully have the meat and not just be a pretty face. You can judge what you think yourself though with this *Jermemy Clarkson voice* astonishing trailer from WMDForum member JonZ, who if you don't know of, is very skilled at making trailers that result in you throwing money at your screen. Project CARS will be available for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam OS and Wii U (yes really) in the later part of 2014. For more info check out the the WMD website. Check out our Project Cars forum!

  9. Over 4.75 Million US Dollars raised! Little over a year has passed since Ian Bell shared his idea with fans on the NoGripRacing.com forums (following Shift 2 support discussions). When reading about a concept for a community sim racing game few could have imagined what we have today. Advances in physics, weather, sounds, and the recent addition of stable multiplayer racing have driven members to increase project funding at record rates over the past 2 months. Both members and staff were ecstatic when the target was met on Sunday 11 November, 2012. Ian's response is below: From the whole team at SMS we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the support you've given us this past year. This is an innovative business model which we are convinced is the way of the future as regards game development. It's been a privilege to learn the ropes as we went along with the help of you all. Now it's time for me to sign an innovative deal to get game out there in style next year. THANK YOU!!!!! - Ian Bell, Head of Studio Andy Garton, Development Director, was all too happy to reward members with 17 leaked screenshots of a new 'Country Road' track currently in development, based in the Caucasus Mountains of Russia. A sneak preview is shown at the top of this page. Unlike similar community-funded games using the KickStarter platform, World of Mass Development (WMD) offers members regular pre-alpha game builds, encourages extensive communication between players and developers, and promises members a share in the profits. The other main difference is that KickStater games are generally of the Indie genre, while Project CARS aims to compete with AAA titles. Sim Racing Heritage SlightlyMad Studios is made up of staff formerly branded as Blimey Games, and going back even further to SimBin, with the release of GTR, GT Legends, and GTR 2. SimBin itself was first formed from a group of modders of F1 2002, an Image Space Incorporated title (makers of rFactor). These now-old sims are still often played thanks to their physics, wheel support, and massive amounts of modded content. A younger (and thinner) Ian Bell at a track-side product demo of GTR (2005) Happy memories indeed. We effectively developed the game "for free", working normal jobs during the day and GTR at night and weekends. Publishers weren't chomping at the bit when we just said "we can do this, honest", but once we had it done it was a different story thankfully. - Andy Garton, SMS Development Director Join the discussion about Project CARS (pCARS) on the forum!
