  1. Garage Week 6 is cushty! This Forza Horizon 3 Garage Week - exclusively being revealed by French website caradisiac - is the last but don't let that fool you into believing that this is where the lemons of the game have been stashed away as that's not the case at all. In fact the spotlighted cars will have you rolling in... well not style, but it certainly will have you rolling either on your side or maybe your roof as the lovable little Reliant Supervan III has been unleashed. For those of us in the British isles the image below will instantly (quiet kids) stir up an image of a famous duo from the brilliant BBC comedy ‘Only Fools and Horses’, starring Rodney and Del Boy who used the vehicle to sell their wares and conduct dodgy business from. So you can bet there will hardly be any time passed before a replica livery finds its way up with the famous New York, Paris and Peckham painted on the side. [caption id=attachment_5425" align="alignnone" width="800] Sitting on 3-wheels but for how long?[/caption] The more modern recognition by people will come from the iconic Top Gear episode where Clarkson kept tipping over one of the Supervan’s smaller brethren of the Robin. So it is of little wonder to imagine just how players will treat this on the roads and open world terrain of the virtual Australia found in the game. Although, if I had to guess, something along the lines of ‘hilarity ensues’ would be the expectation. Keeping in with the great for transporting goods theme, the other main reveal for this week is the Ford Super Deluxe Station Wagon, with ‘Deluxe’ seeming to mean being made out of wood. This mobile wardrobe on wheels is powered by a V8 chipping out 100BHP, sits on some stylish white wall tyres and comes complete with a roof rack for carrying that all important surfboard. It is going to be fun to see what can be done with and to these two unique vehicles and I really think it is great that there is a team out there who think not only about the powerful, the best and the most demanded but also the out there, the wth and the are you serious! types that hardly ever get a look in. Playground Games certainly ain’t no plonkers, they're just bonkers! Here’s the rest of this week’s roster. 2. Assetto Corsa Xbox One Those good fellows at Team VVV (VVV) have bowed to the social justice warriors (not really, it was a request) and resigned themselves to making a video where they play the Xbox One version of Assetto Corsa with a controller. Even though Assetto Corsa will attract the hardcorest (I know it's not a word) of race sim fanatics who don the fireproof suit, helmet and point a camera at their feet, there will still be a large number who will like nothing more than lying back on their couch or bed with a sandwich at their side and a pad in their hand, waiting for the lights to go out and their race to start. It is those people that this preview has been made for. And they will be happy to know that VVV are very favourable about the way AC plays with a standard pad, going so far as to mention control and playability is still pretty good even when using the chase cam. This conclusion was reached after taking a fiery Lamborghini Huracan GT3 out on the virtual asphalt and running a few laps. Naturally control is better and more precise with a wheel but for all those pad users, it looks like AC will not be throwing up any game-destroying problems. Being a hardcore simulation, you still need to be conservative with your inputs when applying the throttle and brakes with the triggers, and you still get better car control with a wheel, but it's a testament to Assetto Corsa's intuitive handling physics that we were still able to tame the mighty Lamborghini Huracan GT3 with the limitations of a controller. - Martin Bigg at Team VVV For the more purist racer who will still use a pad, the control while using the multiple on-car and in-car views is pleasant enough, as is shown in the later section of the preview when a McLaren 650S GT3 is raced against some AI opponents. Technical aspects have both running at 60fps, with the PS4 being 1080p and the Xbox One being 900p with some frame dips and instances of screen tearing showing on each system too. 3. Built For [Console] Racers As with everything to do with a date set not too long in the future, that time does eventually arrive. For those who have been waiting for Assetto Corsa ever since it was revealed to be coming to PS4 and Xbox One that time is almost here. Even with the delays it is now merely days before AC gets released in Europe and console gamers can get their hands on what has been labelled an authentic racing simulator, gaining a following and reputation on PC for being one of the best currently available. And now the console (peasants) can join in too. To celebrate this, Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games have put up a trailer titled 'Built for Racers' to showcase just what the game is offering. And there is no better way to describe it other than how Kunos do so themselves as “Built by racing enthusiasts, for racing enthusiasts”. Paired with a rousing soundtrack that would not be out-of-place in a Hollywood blockbuster where the earth is battling against yet another alien race, the trailer beautifully exhibits all manners of racing, shows rivals against one another on the track and highlights multiple examples of the physics engine at work. You shouldn’t fear however if you want a racing game for your console but worry that AC may be too hardcore, as the developers have included multiple ways for you to tailor the game to your inadequate ability of play. And yes you can play with a pad too, but of course a wheel is recommended for the ultimate experience. Assetto Corsa is FINALLY out for PS4 and Xbox One from August 26th in Europe and from August 30th for North America.
  4. The Crew vs The Precinct Now this was unexpected. A cops and runners type expansion is coming to The Crew this November called ‘Calling All Units’. Being that the title has a vast open world environment to play in, it makes sense for this to happen, but there was no indication that it would, and the ability to play as the Police has been an often asked request on the official forums and elsewhere. So it does appear that the devs are listening. Announced with a trailer where someone called Zoe informs your character Alex of what is going on, so there will be some sort of story to give a direction to proceedings we guess, interspersed with views of a pursuit version of the Koenigsegg Agera R and accompanied by a release of the details with a mention of more info to come in the months ahead, the new expansion aims to pit players against one another where the aim of one side is to literally pit the other. To do so, a new arsenal of police vehicles and abilities will be at your disposal. Need to hunt someone in the busy streets of San Francisco? Step behind the wheel of the new Lamborghini Aventador and don’t forget to use your EMP shocks or to call for a helicopter support! This won’t only be a re-skinning of current vehicles either, as the pack will contain a selection of brand new vehicles that both wannabe officers and unscrupulous sorts can use. From the trailer we know the Agera R is going to be one of those to get its police colours and other screens show the F150 Raptor and Hummer H1 kitted out too as well an F12berlinetta avoiding a road block, but there was also a banner update on the game’s Facebook where an Aventador and two newcomers of the KTM 1190 RC8 R, which is making a run for it, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC that is leading the chase. A Jeep Wrangler is also mentioned in the source of this info so that is 4 new vehicles we know of for sure. It’s an interesting mode that will hopefully bring back and continue to keep players within the game and introduce an entirely new way to play the game. We are eager to see what new vehicles will come with this pack too as new toys to play with is always welcome and the fact they may also see police variants is even better. No price has been mentioned, but if ‘The Wild Run’ is anything to go by, it won’t be that cheap. And with the current crop of titles available and those upcoming it will need to make sure it provides plenty of value for the price it asks. 5. Let's Hit The Streets Last week, the focus was on off-road, so this week we take a look at some more on-road vehicles. As per usual, Turn 10 are proud to announce their latest addition to their plethora of cars which offers a little something for everyone, so let's dive in and take a look. 2017 Nissan GT-R The latest of the now 10 year old GT-R, still with twin turbos, all-wheel-drive, and a warp drive pedal instead of an accelerator. 2016 Aston Martin Vantage GT12 A limited edition of the Vantage which sports a more prominent aero-kit for improved downforce, more power than the Vantage S and 220 pounds lighter too! 2016 Cadillac CTS-V Sedan Also featured in the Turn 10 Summer Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6, this CTS-V has Cadillac's best chassis paired to the drivetrain of a Corvette Z06. That's all for the featured cars this week. You can find all the week 5 cars below, and the full car list (so far) here. 2016 Abarth 695 Biposto 2002 Acura RSX Type-S 2016 Aston Martin Vantage GT12 1986 Audi #2 Audi Sport quattro S1 2015 Audi TTS Coupé 2011 BMW Z4 sDrive35is 2013 BMW M6 Coupe 2016 Cadillac CTS-V Sedan 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport 396 2014 Chevrolet Super Sport 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona HEMI 2003 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO 2010 Ferrari 599 GTO 2012 Ferrari F12berlinetta 1953 Ferrari 500 Mondial 1969 Fiat Dino 2.4 Coupe 1993 Ford SVT Cobra R 1940 Ford De Luxe Coupe 2003 Ford Focus RS 1981 Ford Fiesta XR2 1988 Holden VL Commodore Group A SV 2005 Honda NSX-R 1993 Jaguar XJ220 1971 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R 2017 Nissan GT-R 1968 Opel GT 2011 Subaru WRX STI 1980 Subaru BRAT GL 2016 W Motors Lykan Hypersport
  6. A Range Of Off-Roaders For Your Outback Driving Needs This week we take a look at the best vehicles to tackle the Outback with. From Buggies to 4x4s, these rugged motors are not afraid of Australia's challenging terrain. If you missed last week's Forza Garage you can find that here. 1971 Meyers Manx The original Manx buggy, designed by Bruce Meyers, features a light-weight chassis and fiberglass body with the suspension and engine from a Volkswagen Beetle. A classic go-anywhere vehicle. 2011 Penhall Cholla A destroyer of dunes. The Cholla debuted at the Baja 1000 in 2011 and won in it's class with a four hour lead. Four hours. No matter what the environment throws at the Cholla, it can't be stopped. 1979 Toyota FJ40 The FJ is famous for it's offroad capabilities despite serious competition from Land Rover and Jeep. You may remember this one from the Top Gear Bolivia Special. Of course, Hammond's car was a "convertible" and for the most part broken in various ways. At least in Forza you don't have to worry about it's reliability! So that's this week's featured cars! Below you can find all of the cars announced this week. 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2002 Ferrari 575M Maranello 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth 2013 Ford Focus ST 1973 Ford Escort RS1600 1971 Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III 2014 Ford Fiesta ST 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Race Truck 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 1986 Lancia Delta S4 2009 Lexus IS F 1957 Maserati 300 S 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata 1967 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series 1971 Meyers Manx 2012 MINI John Cooper Works GP 1998 Nissan R390 1979 Opel Kadett C GT/E 2011 Penhall Cholla 1971 Plymouth Cuda 426 Hemi 2015 Polaris RZR XP 1000 EPS ROCKSTAR EDITION 2013 Ram Runner 1993 Renault Clio Williams 1990 Subaru Legacy RS 1996 Subaru SVX 1979 Toyota FJ40 2005 TVR Sagaris 1990 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton
  7. Forza Horizon 3: Garage Week 2 The weekly Wednesday is upon us again and so is the second installment of the Forza Garage where Turn 10 tease us with more cars. If you missed last weeks announcement, don't fear because it's just a click away. Click. This week they're sticking to the Australian theme from last week, if you ignore about 97% of the cars announced so far... You've surely seen the Holden Maloo already, it's the big green beast at the top of the page and it comes with a whopping 580bhp. Surely enough to give you... problems. Check out the 34 cars for this weeks garage below and stay tuned for next weeks Wednesday. 2007 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione 1970 AMC Rebel "The Machine" 1998 Aston Martin V8 Vantage V600 2011 Audi RS 5 Coupé 2011 BMW X5 M 1981 BMW M1 1992 Bugatti EB110 Super Sport 1970 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 1966 Chevrolet Nova Super Sport 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR 1969 Ferrari Dino 246 GT 1968 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 2011 Ferrari FF 1978 Ford Mustang II King Cobra 1956 Ford F-100 1991 GMC Syclone 2016 Holden Special Vehicles GTS Maloo 1951 Holden 50-2106 FX Ute 1974 Holden Sandman HQ panel van 2012 Infiniti IPL G Coupe 2015 Jaguar XFR-S 1997 Lamborghini Diablo SV 2014 Lamborghini Urus 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged 2005 Lotus Elise 111S 2013 Mazda MX-5 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II 2013 Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR 2000 Nissan Silvia Spec-R 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 2010 Renault Megane RS 250 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi
  8. Forza Horizon 3: Car List Reveal Week 1 We're getting ever closer to getting our hands on the much anticipated Forza Horizon 3 in just a little over 9 weeks or 65 sleeps for those who have pre-ordered the ultimate edition. There are a fair few cars that are new to the franchise including some cars that I never thought would make it to Forza. I suppose the recent Turn 10 Select Car Pack for Forza 6 was a hint of things to come? The first round of DLC has already been announced which is something that we really don't like to see. If the content is already made then release it on the disc included with the game! Strong whiff of Activision right there. [caption id=attachment_5073" align="aligncenter" width="1120] This sure does look good fun![/caption] There's also a mention of reward tiers, something that we saw in FM6. So be sure to level up Forza Rewards to reap the benefits of the free cars! But be warned, it's no mean feat to reach tier 10. Be sure to check out the gallery at the bottom of the page for some rather tasty pictures of the cars. 9. Ferrari 488 GT3 It's been a few days since there's been anything heard from the Assetto Corsa team, but now, one day before the pack release itself, the fifth car model of the nearly here 'Red Pack' has been revealed, and it is another Ferrari. Meaning a minimum of three prancing horses will be in amongst the seven Italian examples that will be included with the new DLC. With the addition of the 488 GT3, the already impressive variety of GT cars will be boosted even more and it is something Kunos themselves seem quite proud of. "Our GT2/GT3 grid will be one of the most complete in the genre and a step forward in providing the best GT experience ever!" The car which was brought in to replace the 458 - that is also represented in the game - has divided opinion just like it's predecessor. Some like it, others think the front looks 'unfinished' but there is always one thing you can be certain of with mid-engine road cars from Ferrari, and that is that they handle supremely well. And when they then take that road going model and turn it into a track runner, things in that area get even better. So that's two cars left to reveal of this pack and it is looking like we will learn what they are from the pack itself. Those five that have been given official exposure are the Ferrari 488 GT3, the historic Maserati 250F 6C, the F1 duo of the 2013 Ferrari F138 and the 2015 Ferrari SF15-T and last but not in anyway least, the Lamborghini Aventador SV. The 'Red Pack' is out tomorrow (July 14th) on Steam and available for the consoles later in the year. 10. Forza 6: Turn 10 Select Car Pack & July Update Another month has gone by which means it's time for another car pack and update to the Xbox One racer, Forza Motorsport 6. This month as you have probably already noticed seeing as though you did click on the BIG truck is that this is not your standard Forza car pack. There are two stand out cars for good, or bad reasons depending on how normal you are, or are not. Available from today is the 2015 Mercedez-Benz Truck which is sure to be a big hit with the people who are out there just to ruin your multiplayer experience, or fail miserably by missing you and just totalling themselves. And to match the humongousness of the truck is the awesome little 1957 BMW 'Bubble' Isetta 300 thingy which can be used for something, surely. And now for the riff raff such as the 2015 McLaren 570s which is essentially a 'baby' P1, the stunning Fiat 124 Spider from the drop top golden era and then three race cars consisting of a 2014 Chevrolet #4 ROAL Motorsport RML Cruze TC1 WTCC, 1969 Ford Brawner Hawk III and a 2014 Jaguar #14 Emil Frey GT3 Jaguar XK. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz8IWB11MQE Available now as a standalone download for $6.99/£5.59 or you can always buy the individual cars at somewhat marked up prices. July Content Update Just a small update this month unless you're brave enough to race online that is. Three tracks have been put back in to the online roster after having their dirty lap track boundaries modified to prevent people cheating or gaining advantages by cutting corners too much. The three tracks are Circuit de Catalunya, Circuit of the Americas and Monza. [gallery columns=4" link="file" ids="4965,4966,4967,4968,4969,4970,4971" orderby="rand]
  11. F1 Ferrari V8 The boys and girls behind Assetto Corsa must be in amazing moods as their latest preview of what's next in line for the 'Red Pack' is something real special yet again. As if it wasn't enough to thrill us by announcing that the Ferrari SF15-T 2015 season car was coming to the 'Red Pack'. Now they have gone and unveiled another Scuderia Ferrari that will be making its way in to the DLC that releases on July 14th. And this time it's a V8 from 2013! The last of the Ferrari V8s in fact, before they went to the (strimmer/weed whacker sounding) turbos, driven by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. The trailer to accompany the announcement, simply titled Introducing the Ferrari F138, shows the car doing a flying lap round the Silverstone GP circuit. And even though we knew this one was coming after some clips of it were included in the console announcement trailer from the start of this year, it is still impressive that the team has decided to pack so much ultimate into this one pack. After all, having two authentic F1 Ferrari cars in a simulation racer is like the holy grail for many racing enthusiasts, and from how Kunos is going about in assembling the machinery to be included in this pack, we really cannot wait to see what else is still to come. The Red Pack is shaping up nicely with the confirmed inclusion of the Maserati 250F 6C, Lamborghini Aventador SV, Ferrari SF15-T and now this second F1 Ferrari. Meaning there is three models remaining out of the seven we have been told are due.
  12. Porsche Coming to Assetto Corsa More and more games are starting to pry Porsche away from the cold grip of EAs hands and the next game to do so will be Assetto Corsa, renowned for its incredible simulation. Two Porsche packs are expected before the end of the year across PC, Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and it will be the first time that Porsche have been officially included in a simulation racing game for over 12 years. Judging by the video we can expect to see Porsches from all eras across from road going cars, to GT racing and the ultimate LMP machines that will again be showcased at this weekends upcoming Le Mans 24H. We'll keep you updated when we hear more about these upcoming packs.
  13. Forza Horizon 3: A Land Down Under It's E3 again and that can only mean it's time for another installment in the Forza universe. Up this time is Forza Horizon 3 and we're going to Australia! And with the move to Australia come a whole host of new and returning features. New to Horizon 3 is the Auction House which is something that Forza players have been crying out for since it vanished from the Motorsport series many moons ago. New upgrade options for your cars for those of you who like to stick rockets to bunnies and then put those bunnies on your cars. Blueprints, this is a way of allowing you to customise the game as you go. Ever wished the route or entry requirements were different for a race? Well, now you can modify all of the races and bucket lists to suit yourself! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhWTpCGZwWs You had better take your largest suitcase as you will need it this time with the game boasting a whopping 350 fully customisable cars with more than 40 cars coming in the 6 months after release with the usual, monthly car packs. If you're feeling flashy and splash out on the Ultimate Edition you can be playing the game from September 23rd otherwise you'll have to wait a few days for the regular release of the game on the 27th/30th. [gallery columns=4" link="file" ids="4860,4859,4858,4857,4856,4852,4851,4854,4853,4845,4848,4849,4850" orderby="rand]
  14. Formula 1 2016 Coming Soon to a Console Near You With another summer, comes another Formula 1 2016 game. Not a great deal changes year on year with these F1 games but it's still day and night when compared to a certain fishy cash cow. But among the changes is a 10 season career mode that should keep you occupied for the next couple of years if you like to do full length race weekends. With F1 2016 you get all an all new track, Baku, a street circuit in the city of you guessed it, Baku in Azerbaijan. From the screenshots that have been shown, it looks like quite a nice track. The game graphics themselves don't look too shabby either. There is also a new and improved car upgrade and development element to the game that is supposed to mirror the real life development of these mystical machines. Are you up to the task of doing 100+ laps of Circuit de Catalunya? There's no word on when the game is going to release but it will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime later this year. I'd expect it to be released towards the end of the season as is now the norm with these games. But expect to see more of it at E3 in just less than 2 weeks.
  15. NASCAR vs RACECAR USA ! USA ! Aw yeah, it's time to throw out some awful stereotypes as the favourite sport of America, NASCAR, gets its very own Expansion Pack for Forza Motorsport 6. Clearly I kid, but it does have a crazy following and the racing is always close, frenzied and produces some kick-ass entertainment. And now Forza players can get a taste of some of that for themselves with this fairly chunky Expansion. Featuring 24 models from the NASCAR 2016 season and adding yet another real-world track to the impressive Forza roster with the introduction of Homestead-Miami Speedway, the NASCAR Expansion, being that is a game and is not bound to the boring rules of reality, will have players taking part in an all-new NASCAR World Tour career with over 10 hours of racing. https://youtu.be/Saite7sy_dg The intensity of driving these quintessentially American race cars is at the heart of the NASCAR Expansion experience. Players will be able to drive 24 2016-season NASCAR models from teams like Joe Gibbs Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing, Hendrick Motorsports and Team Penske, including the cars of top-flight NASCAR drivers Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Chase Elliott. Johnson, Busch and Elliott also serve as the stars of the “Voices of Motorsport” in the NASCAR Expansion, introducing fans to the history and technology of NASCAR. Giving them the chance to throw down the gauntlet against the other disciplines, allowing their NASCAR to be pit against the best of the rest that the world has to offer: V8 Supercars, GT, WEC Endurance, Formula E, GT and more, in a bundling of fantasy races many motorsport fans would really love to see happen. [gallery columns=5" link="file" ids="4776,4777,4778,4779,4780,4781,4782,4783,4784,4785,4786,4787,4788,4789,4790,4791,4792,4793,4794,4795,4796,4797,4798,4799,4800,4801,4802,4803,4804,4805,4806,4807,4808,4809] Forza Motorsport 6 NASCAR Expansion on Xbox One – OUT NOW! $20 / £15.99 / €19.99.
  16. Another Piece of the Wasteland in Forza 6 The Rocket '69 will propel you to speed in excess of 200mph. Speeds once reserved for Army space troopers! No longer will you need to keep up with the Joneses, they'll need to keep up with you! In your Chryslus Rocket 2016. But please d be warned, travelling at speeds over 200mph can result in the loss of control, horrific accidents or triumphant victory. You have been warned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_FJ1_nX7IM Codes for the Chryslus Rocket 69 will be sent out to anybody who has played Forza Motorsport 6 or Fallout 4 on the Xbox One through the rest of August via a message on XBL. FOr those of you yet to play either of these great games, fear not as they will continue to send codes out through May.
  17. Project CARS Free April DLC Project CARS in April will see the Mercedes-AMG GT3 come to players for free later this month, and the GT3-class racer will be the only DLC offering for the game by Slightly Mad Studios for the month. We had already been treated to a number of teases of the vehicle last month, but thanks to the game's official twitter we know that it is now due out on April 15th. This latest Mercedes GT3 racer made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015 as the successor to the mighty SLS GT3, which is already in the game. Chances are you may already have sat behind the virtual steering wheel or virtual carbon wing (you third person drivers) of this car, as is typical in racing games, the car has appeared in a number of other titles such as Assetto Corsa and the PS4 exclusive, DRIVECLUB. Nevertheless you can't have too much of a good thing and with each game having its own spin on how the car performs and handles, it should be fun to run some laps and compare. Project CARS is out now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
  18. Assetto Corsa Console 'Perfection' As we approach the June release date for the console version of Assetto Corsa, it seems Kunos and 505 Games have been ramping up the promotional push to spread the word about the game. Latest of which, is this simply sublime trailer showing many vehicles from the game captured in everything from a gentle panning around the cars' interiors and exteriors, to the slow motion instances of the many normal racing and hard driving moments exhibited during the running of laps around a circuit or race course, all set to a calming classy piano piece that never breaks away into a hard rock session or a dubstep bass drop. Giving out a feeling that there is no need for gimmicks, and in turn showing itself in a sort of warts and all type manner because of it, marking itself as a simulation racer that is all about the cars and the handling first. Its sole function, to provide a close representation of what it might actually feel like to take anything from your own daily driver (if it's in) or one of those unobtainable dream motors to the very limit, as if you are one of the previous Top Gear presenters, whose job it is to go fast and hopefully not crash while doing so. With DiRT Rally having only just dropped on the PS4 and Xbox One and Assetto Corsa coming up on the horizon, these are quite good days to be a console racing pleb.
  19. Project CARS 365 Days Later In what you might call a feat of cunning brilliance, Slightly Mad Studios have decided on the release date for the recently announced Project CARS 'Game of the Year' Edition as being May 6th 2016. Why do we applaud them for this? Well the original release was back on May 7th 2015, and February of this year was a leap year, therefore the 'GOTY' edition is releasing a year later. Ah yes, now you get it! You can just imagine the meeting where the discussion about the date is being held and one of the team utters 'uhh... why don't we just release it a year later?'. Common sense prevails and give that person a raise I say! Project CARS depending on who you talk to, what reviews on which platform you read and whose videos you check out on Youtube is well loved or patially loathed. However it's not critically acclaimed for no reason and racing fans do enjoy having another racer amongst the ranks of the usual offerings - especially those on console. The post content support has also been well diversified and fairly priced. The free stuff hasn't been the dregs left at the bottom of the developer's computers either; shown with the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG GT3 that will be the freebie of the next update to pCARS' 'On Demand' program. As is customary with an edition like this, all the content released for the original game is included along with extras: The Game of the Year Edition is a celebration and a thank you to the racing community around the world. Featuring all the elements of the original core experience, the Game of the Year Edition also includes an additional: 50+ cars (125 total), 4 tracks (35 unique locations, 100+ layouts total), 60+ community-created liveries, plus two special and exclusive items... The iconic Nurburgring Combined Nordschieife + GP circuit Two Project CARS exclusive vehicles from Pagani – the Zonda Revolucion and Huayra BC unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show Project CARS 'Game of the Year' Edition will be out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 6th 2016. 20. You're Going To Die Today Todd Howard (AKA Game Developer God) discussed the upcoming Survival Mode that is debuting in Fallout 4 in April. The mode is currently in Beta on Steam for those of you PC players out there who wish to give it a go, for those of us on console we are to expect it in April. When? We have no idea, Todd Howard doesn't like release dates. What can you expect in this new mode? Todd laid it out for us: Saving With Sleep - The only way to save the game is to find a bed and sleep for at least an hour. No Fast Travel - You know that settlement across the Commonwealth that's being attacked? You have to walk there, the entire way there. Hardcore Damage - You deal out more damage, but you also take a lot more, stay safe kids. Threats On Compass - They're being removed, so you can literally walk right into a pack of bandits, or that Deathclaw you've been avoiding. Adrenaline - This is a new perk that provides a bonus to damage output by killing things, lots of things. Although sleeping will remove the effect so keep that in mind. Needs - No it's not The Sims, but you will need to eat, sleep and drink to ensure that you stay in fighting shape! Fatigue - Walking is hard, this affects your Action Points - the more fatigued you are, the less you can sprint or use VATS to get those easy kills. Wellness - Crippled limbs are no longer healed by Stimpacks, nor are effects removed by using them. Carry Weight - All ammunition will now weigh you down depending on size of calibre, as well as your legs will give out if you carry too much. Companions - No longer get back up if downed by combat - they run back to a settlement to heal up, wastelanding is hard work. Will you be taking on Survival Mode when it gets released some ambiguous time in April? Let us know below or on the forums! Thanks to Youtube channel Open World Games for the title picture!
  21. Return To Your Roots Hello and welcome to yet another instalment of Open Letters! In this "weekly" column I do one of two things, write an open letter to something relating to news, or I respond to a letter sent in from one of you, the readers! (If you want to send in a question/concern for me to write about, email me at: [email protected]) This week however this article/column/trash-heap is aimed at Game Developers of the Battlefield/Battlefront/Mirrors Edge franchise, DICE. For clarities sake, today we are focusing on the Battlefield aspect of the previous sentence - as many people may be already aware Battlefield 5 was announced back at the end of 2015 and there is a rumour flying around that the franchise will be returning to its roots by taking place during World War I. I'm getting ahead of the curve here let's have a history lesson. (learning is fun!) DICE was founded in 1992 and has been a subsidiary of Electronic Arts since 2004 and have a hefty list of games they've developed including but not limited to: NASCAR Heat*, Battlefield 1942, Midtown Madness 3*, Battlefield 2/3/4, Mirrors Edge/ME: Catalyst, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit*, Medal of Honor (multiplayer), Star Wars: Battlefront *Indicates DICE co-developed this game with another developer Okay the list is huge and I've already made it too big but they've made some of the best games for the past two decades and I'm trying to make a point here that they created Battlefield, which is one of the (if not THE) direct competitor(s) of that other huge FPS series called Call of Duty, developed by Infinity Ward/Treyarch/Sledgehammer Games and financed by Blizzard/Activision. Don't let my ADD drive you off course, this conversation is about Battlefield - specifically about Battlefield 5 which is due out in what is estimated to be October of 2016. And finally, for the love of God finally an FPS game developer has listened to me. With no further ado, my open letter to DICE: Dear DICE, If you are reading this, then first allow me to say - yes I will happily beta test anything you need for the foreseeable future. But that's not what I'm writing to you about, I am writing to thank you for listening to not only me, but what I can only assume is a very large collection of gamers (both male and female) who are incredibly tired of shooters all feeling the same. Call of Duty has gone so far into the future I get the feeling that the next iteration will be World War III including sticks and stones; however you over at DICE have decided to return to the roots of what made these franchises so successful - you're returning to the most fascinating period of history and wartime that exists. World War I/II settings used to flood the marketplace over a decade ago - to be fair many of them still exist however none as popular as what Call of Duty or Battlefield can pull off. I have fond memories of playing the old games with bolt action rifles, running about as hulking tanks drove past to crush the opposition. Ah, nostalgia why do you feel so damn good? Hindsight is not 20/20 however so if you really do intend to bring Battlefield 1914 into 2016 it needs to be incredible, bring back that nostalgia that I had as a kid but revitalize how it feels because I have car payments now. For Battlefield to truly continue to succeed the franchise needs to evolve in the right way and I feel like going back to what you're good at is a great move. I'm sure we have things to look forward to at E3 this year. How do you feel about Battlefield 5 going back in time? Let us know down below - or hop over to the forums, sign on up and be sure to donate your teeth to the growing collection. Image credit: Yibada
  22. "Surprise" Bonus Pack 2 A video has been released, rather unexpectedly, showing off the contents of a brand new Bonus Pack for Assetto Corsa, due to release alongside the version 1.5 update on March 31st. In the humorous showing for the free Bonus Pack 2, we see a Corvette C7 Stingray and a Ford Mustang enjoying themselves on the new "Black Cat County" desert track which will come in three configurations, before meeting up with a stylish Italian "surprise". As they all face each other, the revs rise and then the power drops, producing puffs of smoke as their tyres struggle to grip on the tarmac due to the horsepower being exerted through them, speeding head-first towards each other as quickly as they can accelerate along the stretch of tarmac. It's really quite a sight to behold and brilliantly executed. And as Kunos themselves are Italian, it makes sense that they would want to include a true hero of their country's automotive history. The surprise from Italy will be included within the console version, however the US duo is available as part of the ‘Prestige Pack’ pre-order incentive at select retailers. Currently available on PC via Steam, Assetto Corsa will hit Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 3rd in Europe and June 7th in North America. Source: Assetto Corsa facebook
  23. 2017 Nissan GT-R Premium The facelifted 2017 Nissan GT-R may just have recently been unveiled at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), but already it's availability virtually will begin from tomorrow, in Need for Speed. Making its video game debut in the game this latest - and possibly the final version - of the R35 generation, known as the Nissan GT-R Premium 2017, will come to the PS4 and Xbox One on March 24th and March 30th for PC. Even though the R35 did not take the 'Skyline' name it is still seen as one, and the name is synonymous with street racing culture and it's no surprise to find many of them in a game such as NFS which centres on this. And within the trailer you can see many of these icons with the years of that model shown on their number/license plates, from the R32 of 1993 and R34 of 1999, right up to this newest 'Godzilla' of 2017, but strangely missing out the '71 original??? No R33 though, which is my personal favourite. With games it is easy to fall into the What's the difference? thinking when a new model of what is more or less the same car already included is released, as we cannot experience the new changes except for what we can see: like a few styling cues, a speed increase and perhaps a different handling feel, but nothing too drastic to the previous. If this wasn't free then sure that would be an issue but seeing as it is then it's something new for nothing and I'm sure many can live with that. >The GT-R's award-winning 3.8-liter V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine – each unit handcrafted by its own Takumi technician – now delivers 565 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 467 lb-ft of torque, representing an increase of 20 HP and 4 lb-ft, respectively, from last year's model. - Nissan Press Release Ironically for this game due to the lack of an in-car/cockpit view, one of the main updates to the 2017 model is a much improved interior making it a more welcoming environment for the driver -- one of the jokes about the R35 was about how if you were driving you wouldn't have to look at it but the interior itself was never kept in high regards to its aesthetics or styling either. Despite this, you could never deny the performance and handling of the car which would put a lot of the more expensive options to shame in a drag race or a few laps round a twisty circuit. Yes it may be another 'Skyline', but we're not anywhere near approaching Gran Turismo territory. (though we wouldn't say no to an R33 guys!) UPDATE: A few official images added. 24. The ball is in your court, Sony/Developers Hello friends and welcome to my new series: Open Letters! In this sporadically posted column, I will write open letters to things relating to the gaming community while tying in news you may now know in a very informative, yet somewhat humorous manner. Our very first open letter is to the software giant Microsoft's gaming division, Xbox. Microsoft. Synonymous with Bill Gates, Tablets, Phones, Phablets and Windows Vista (I shuddered too it's okay). And just last week, Xbox announced they would support cross-platform multiplayer with both players on Windows 10 and Playstation 4. In fact just EARLIER this month, I criticized Xbox themselves for potentially destroying everything we know and love about games. Now they've come full circle and decided, GAMES FOR EVERYONE! This is a great success for all gamers, allow me to elaborate. What exactly has been done? Well, Xbox has said they're all good to go for developers to create cross-platform multiplayer, as in Xbox will support this going forward. This is unexpected as ever since the formation of Xbox Live, it has been very restricted to Xbox only content. Now that we're seeing the boys at MS let up, this could literally change everything. Xbox has stated that the developers of 3rd party games (ex. Grand Theft Auto, Destiny, Call of Duty) can create cross platform multiplayer which means those friends of yours who got a PS4 instead of an Xbox One? You can in the future hopefully play against them despite your console preference. What about those elitist PC players? Yes you too, can face off against PCMASTERRACE in whatever game tickles your fancy. Now, I say hopefully very sarcastically because we're not quite sure where this could lead. Sony has responded to Xbox regarding the cross-platform play -Sony Worldwide Studios' Shuhei Yoshida suggests there's no technical issue preventing cross-network play between PS4 and Xbox One. Rather, the debate will revolve around whether it is in Sony's best interests to allow it. So onto the topic of this post - an open letter to Xbox: Hello, Xbox The recent news that you're willing to allow cross-platform support on games is astonishing and not something I ever expected from either side of the aisle. Thank you for knowing what your fans want, thank you for being willing to take whatever risk to promote this and to hopefully make it a reality. Those things I said last time I wrote about you guys, I was mad you know how these things go we all say things we don't mean.. so basically what I'm saying is.. *gets out flowers and goes down on one knee* make this a reality..? For me? Thanks for reading guys at Xbox, I hope this inspires some serious fan-fiction that we can all laugh about in the future. (I never said this was a LONG open letter) In closing, in all seriousness - this has a long way to go, so far we only have Xbox's word that they're willing to go along with this, some may call it an empty promise, some may call it the future. But until we have a concrete answer from Sony and game developers about how the science of this will work out - it will remain a pipe-dream. Happy about the news? Tell us over at the forums, or in the comments down below. Also please don't send me fan-fiction, please.
  25. Project CARS March DLC The teasing of what is to come next to Project CARS this March has started with some images being posted on the official instagram of the game. The first of these shows an outside the window shot from "the next free car", which seemingly from some noticeable clues such as the door and mirror shape, door opener, yellow pullover fabric strap and probably the most telling - the AMG branding on the bottom, signals that this will be the oft-rumoured Mercedes-AMG GT3 finally making its appearance. Next up is something we only recently learned about due to the announcement of the Project CARS Game of the Year Edition coming out this Spring. And if this next car is what we believe it to be then it's a real gem of an offering as despite them trying their best to conceal it, there's one image available online (thanks GTspirit) where working out what it is becomes easy and this is because it shows off all the branding the car had on it before it was removed for some reason. It is this edition that SMS appears to have recreated for the game when modelling the Pagani Zonda Revolucion. It's entirely possible that the March DLC will be that of what is to come with the GOTY edition, along with the addition of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 to keep up the 'a free car every month' that has become commonplace. There was talk of March's DLC being a "track pack" and two of them being mentioned but maybe this was just a cloak and dagger way of keeping the Nürburgring GP + Nordschleife guessing away.
