  1. Time For Porsche Pack Vol. 3 Well here we are, the third and final Porsche Pack for Assetto Corsa is released today for PC. Bringing the phenomenal Porsche DLC program for the title to its climax. For a while it felt like we were only hearing about Porsche coming to the game at some point from Kunos Simulazioni, and now, here we are – it’s done, it’s finished, and there is a whole load of fine virtual Porsche metal out there for players to enjoy. Containing another set of models that will make many an enthusiast beam a smile, such as the 908 LH and 917 K, and providing those who have more of a penchant for modern metal, the 911 R and Le Mans racing 919 Hybrid 2016. Every player should be able to find something in here that they will like. Assetto Corsa – Porsche Pack Volume 3 Porsche 919 Hybrid 2016 LeMans configuration Porsche 908 Lang Heck (Long Tail) Porsche 917 K Porsche 911 R (991) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 R 2016 Porsche 911 Turbo S (991) Earlier lists included the 911 RSR 2017 with the third pack, but just days before the pack was due for release, it was announced that Kunos were delaying the car so that they could take more time to reproduce it accurately. The Turbo S was brought in to take its slot and now the RSR 2017 will be released as a free upgrade to Volume 3 in January. As has become common for those on console, a nice long wait is on the cards for them, as even though Kunos did mention a “December” release a couple of months ago, that has unfortunately slipped and now more Porsche will not hit until January when Volume 2 is set to release. However it will be joined with the Red Pack when it does, so every cloud eh! And just like with every pack that has landed, the accompanying update contains another of the free trio of Porsches to be given away at no additional cost. This third and final time it is the turn of the Macan Turbo. Speaking of which, this latest one takes the PC up to version 1.11 where along with the bug fixes and improvements is an all-new Championship gameplay mode. Allowing players to create their own championships with options such as selecting the cars, tracks, laps, points, rules and compete against the AI. Assetto Corsa PC - v1.11.0 Changelog Porsche 919 Hybrid 2016 LeMans configuration (Porsche Pack 3) Porsche 908 Lang Heck (Long Tail) (Porsche Pack 3) Porsche 917 K (Porsche Pack 3) Porsche 911 R (991) (Porsche Pack 3) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2017 (Porsche Pack 3) Porsche 911 GT3 R 2016 (Porsche Pack 3) Porsche 911 Turbo S (991) (Porsche Pack 3) Porsche Macan Turbo (free bonus) Championship gameplay. 2. Porsche Pack Vol. 3 Switch With not much time left until the final Porsche Pack for Assetto Corsa becomes available for those on PC, there has been a late announcement about a change to the contents in regards to the Porsche 911 RSR 2017. Only recently revealed itself, the 911 RSR 2017 is a totally new car compared to previous iterations and in something of a first for the 911 range, it is mid-engined! Naturally Kunos want to faithfully reproduce it in the best way possible and so they have taken the decision to remove it from Porsche Pack Volume 3 so that they can spend more time on it. The 911 RSR 2017 is not an upgrade of the previous model, but a totally new car. As we want to ensure the best experience possible from this amazing model, we unfortunately need to spend a bit more time on it, meaning it won't be released as part of the Porsche Pack Vol. 3 DLC next week. They know this will come as a disappointment to many but they are not just removing the car and leaving an empty space to be filled later. No, they are replacing it with the modern 911 Turbo S that they say a number of their community have been asking for, even so far as to enquiring why it was missing in the first place. [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="6335,6336,6337,6338,6339] As for the 911 RSR 2017? That will still come to Porsche Pack Vol. 3 as a free upgrade in January so it is not being lost. I think it’s likely that the team have tried to get the car ready for its release but unfortunately it just hasn’t reached a point they are happy with and have taken the tough decision to pull it. Announcing this so close to the release reflects this to be more than likely and it is sort of refreshing to see them choose to do this. Plenty of others would release it as is and work on fixing it up later after all. Hopefully players will see this in a good light and not in some ‘they are not delivering what they promised’ rubbish as they could have delayed the whole pack to until the car was ready. 3. PS4 Assetto Corsa v1.10 Update Back in late November Assetto Corsa on PS4 received the long-awaited Porsche Pack Volume 1 and the v1.09 update. Unfortunately it seemed to introduce some issues with it at the same time, the most annoying being with some wheels such as the Logitech G29 and Thrustmaster T300 where the steering was basically broken. And you need to be able to steer while racing as this isn’t NASCAR after all. *runs* Other fixes are included too in the small list which is shown below. Assetto Corsa – v1.10 Update Fixed broken steering rotation on wheels including G29, T300 Fixed horn button on certain wheels Fixed “Real Racer” trophy Fixed force feedback setting in UI Fixed wrong ghost car timing Fixed sound problems on certain tracks caused by reverbs Fixed Monza 66 invisible wall Fixed track temperature [via Assetto Corsa Facebook]
  4. Porsche Pack 1 Out on Xbox One Players of Assetto Corsa on Xbox One now have Porsche Pack Volume 1 available to download, along with the v1.09 update which delivers many improvements, fixes and the first of the free Porsches, the Panamera. Been a bit of a torrid time for AC fans on the Xbox One in respect to the first Porsche Pack, it’s been bad enough having to wait so long after the pack first hit the PC but to have their bitter arch rival on PS4 get the pack and update back at the tail-end of November, that’s gotta sting! All jokes aside, it was a shame it had to happen that way but time is a healer as they say and finally, all platforms, have at least one of the Porsche Pack available for it now. And it’s not only those players who buy who get some new content remember, everyone will receive the Porsche Panamera and the historic Silverstone circuit also. Assetto Corsa is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The Porsche Pack can be bought individually or can be attained via the purchase of the Season Pass which is really good value for what it will get you.
  5. Porsche Pack 1 for Console Tomorrow is the day for the consoles to get the first Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack. Well the PlayStation 4 will anyway as unfortunately the Xbox One version has received a slight delay. Rest assured though that Kunos are on the case and are in their own words “working flat out right now and doing all they can to solve the issues” in order to bring the Porsche pack and update to the Xbox playerbase. Already out for the PC, the pack includes some of the most iconic Porsches known. From the modern hypercar of the 918 Spyder to the ‘they actually made this thing’ 917/30 Spyder. Porsche Pack Volume 1 - Contents Porsche 911 Carrera S Porsche 918 Spyder Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 Porsche 718 Cayman S Porsche 917/30 Spyder Porsche 935/78 ‘Moby Dick’ Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport A new update will accompany the pack release too in version 1.09. This will bring a number of fixes and improvements along with two pieces of free bonus content: the Porsche Panamera G2 Turbo and the historic Silverstone circuit. On the console there seems to be a fair amount of having to take the good with the bad, but it's undeniable that AC is one of the best racing simulators available on console. The original proclamation of the intent to bring the console version up to that of the PC seems to be getting chipped away as time goes by. There's still time though, so they may very well surprise. UPDATE V 1.09 FIXES AND CHANGES – Upgraded physics engine and network protocol to bring them in line with the PC version of Assetto Corsa as of release 1.9 – Upgraded FMOD to latest 1.08, and done a lot of tweaks and fixes to the audio of all cars – Fixed some problems with the AI on race start – Fixed crash when suspending the game during a multiplayer race – Fixed a recurring crash with Special Events, caused by a certain sequence of actions in the launcher – Fixed bug that blocked users from pushing turbo to 100% – Fixed bug with Traction Control level selection – Fixed several translation issues – Fixed a degenerate collision triangle in Brands Hatch that was causing the simulation to break when hitting it – Added support for visible checkpoints in Time Attack mode – Added new controls presets – Added support for Porsche-specific car features and Special Events – Added support for DLC content: Porsche Pack #1 – Added driver skins Remember that the Porsche Season Pass (search for it on your respective platform) is a great buy if you intend to pick up every one of the three Porsche packs, with a generous discount compared to buying all of them individually. And even though PC has had Porsche Pack Volume 2 already, it has been affirmed for December on console and hopefully should be earlier than arriving right at the end of it like this one has. [via Assetto Corsa]
  6. Assetto Corsa Will Get Private Lobbies After all the delays that the console version of Assetto Corsa experienced, you would have honestly expected Kunos Simulazioni to realise that certain features such as Private Lobbies and the use of purchased content online to be obvious ones to have. This was not the case though, as for whatever reason these were left out. Being a small team we can of course allow them some sway in this matter but just looking on their official channels you can see that the lack of Private Lobbies is probably the most often raised criticism. And rightly so, after all many a racing game has come and gone and given players the ability to set up their own lobby, where like-minded racers or friends can join without the worry that some random is going to cause trouble or disruption. It also allows for leagues and championships which the more hardcore of the racing community are very fond of. Then there is being able to use your purchased DLC online, I mean come on this should be common sense should it not? A bad start can tar a title and turn people away indefinitely and the only way to bring it back in front of them is for those who are still playing to show that the game is vastly improved over what it was. Naturally, this takes the support of the developers to give these people a reason to keep playing in order to exhibit the changes but it can be done, just look at DRIVECLUB after all. Incredibly, as we approach the proposed release date of Porsche Pack Volume 2, the consoles still do not have Volume 1. There is no release date even hinted at yet and so those on console will just have to keep waiting until a date is officially revealed. Porsche Pack Volume 1 Porsche 911 Carrera S Porsche 918 Spyder Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 Porsche 718 Cayman S Porsche 917/30 Spyder Porsche 935/78 'Moby Dick' Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport Just like the PC saw last month, the console update (Version 1.09) that will accompany the pack will include the Porsche Panamera G2 Turbo as well as the historic Silverstone circuit for free. [via Assetto Corsa forum]
  7. Assetto Corsa Console Update A new community blog posted by Kunos Simulazioni reveals further details of what's to come in the PS4 and Xbox One update that is aiming to release this month. Along with the previously mentioned fixes for the main issues relating to graphics, control and AI, we learn that the ‘Black Cat County’ fictional road layout and Maserati Levante are also coming with it. [caption id=attachment_5476" align="alignnone" width="800] Welcome to 'Black Cat County' - (image from PC announcement)[/caption] ‘Black Cat County’ comes in three layouts of short, intermediate and long and despite being the ‘short’ version it still takes about 3 minutes to complete a lap of the Death Valley-like location in a sportscar according to Kunos. The dusty and twisty road layout, accompanied with high-speed sections and straights is a nice breakaway from the many closed-off circuits already included, giving players the opportunity to test the handling in a more relaxed open road setting. The Maserati Levante is the first SUV to come from the famous trident fronted marque and was created to compete in the luxury SUV market. And with it being big. heavy and fast, with a top speed of over 160 mph, the Levante will unquestionably be quite the adventure to not only throw about and drive hard on 'Black Cat County', but also everywhere else! Note: video trailer below is the original for PC version No date is set in stone for this PS4 and Xbox One update, but as said before, September is still the aim.
  8. Assetto Corsa JDM DLC Another vehicle pack has dropped for Assetto Corsa (AC) and this time it is the turn of those from Japan. This new DLC offers some of the most favoured and admired models from the land of the rising sun and sees the debut of Mazda to the series. Featuring models from Toyota, Nissan and Mazda, the Japanese pack will make many JDM fans happy with the inclusion of idols such as the Supra MK IV, AE86 Trueno, RX-7, MX-5, GT-R R34 Skyline and the 370Z. With many of these being known for their fun handling, particularly the MX-5 and AE86 Trueno, AC's respected simulation physics should make piloting these cars in the game's many circuits a lot of fun and quite the challenge, but if nailed properly, will no doubt deliver one of the best virtual driving experiences around. With this being a pack full of Japanese machinery, it is of no surprise that the drift muppets (love you really guys!) are specially catered for, with Drift versions of the Supra and AE86. And don't worry if that's not your thing, as a number of the cars come in more than one guise and consist of either a tuned or track attack variant, along with the normal stock offering. In total there are 6 distinct cars with 12 possible versions: Mazda MX-5 2015 Mazda MX-5 CUP Mazda RX-7 Spirit R + tuned version Toyota Supra MK IV + time attack and Drift version Toyota AE86 Trueno + tuned and Drift version Nissan 370Z NISMO Nissan GT-R R34 Skyline V-Spec Available now, the Assetto Corsa Japanese pack is available on Steam for the reasonable price of €4.99 / £3.99 / $4.99. [gallery link=file" columns="5" ids="4721,4722,4723,4724,4725,4726,4727,4728,4729,4730,4731,4732,4733,4734,4735,4736,4737,4738,4739,4740,4741,4742,4743,4744,4745,4746,4747,4748,4749,4750,4751,4752,4753,4754,4755,4756,4757,4758,4759,4760,4761,4762,4763,4764,4765,4766,4767,4768,4769] Kunos Simulazioni have also deployed the latest update for the game -- v1.6.0 brings with it the typical bundle of fixes, bug squashes and other improvements along with pre-alpha support for the Oculus Rift VR headset. 1.6.0 changelog Oculus Rift SDK 1.3 (WIP Pre Alpha) Fixed self-shadowing on tires Fixed wrong log output Dynamic controllers for turbo boost Added RPMS input to dynamic controllers Implementation of Scalable Apps Fixed replay Interface Fixed setup info screen Fixed race non-progression when player is not moving Improved MP collision system Improved AI fuel handling Fixed Hotlap Mode unlocking achievement through not valid laps Fixed deltaT for renderAudio Bodywork and horn volumes uses engineVolume Bodywork’s smooth value use a different alsmooth value Added analogic placeholder for car modelers Added option to draw driver’s label on focused car (system\cfg\name_displayer.ini -> DRAW_FOCUSEDCAR) Fixed CameraCar bad nearplane when forcing camera mode change (see exiting from replay) Implementation of Chat App (system\cfg\chat_app.ini) SharedMemory: Moved AirTemp/RoadTemp from Static to Physics, old values in static are deprecated Timing use also the hour/minutes format Fixed GoToPits Cheat to start from the pits. 9. Assetto Corsa Track Updates Kunos Simulazioni began the development of Assetto Corsa back in 2011 and since then they have learned a lot more about how to go about creating assets, modelling and gathering accurate track data via laser-scanning, as well as increasing their staff numbers and financials. And so, some of the older tracks are showing their age compared to their newer counterparts due to missing out on the new found knowledge and methods that are now being used. However in a gesture that you would not usually expect to see, after all it would be easy to leave them as is and commit to making everything from now on to the current standard, Kunos are going to update and improve these older environments. In fact, they have already started optimising circuits including "Vallelunga, Nurburgring GP, Mugello, Magione, Imola, Silverstone, Monza, Spa Francorchamps, as well as the Nordschleife". The upgraded versions of which you can check out some comparisons in the gallery below, will come for free as part of the 1.5 update, currently under development. With the forthcoming console release you could say they had to do this anyway but we like to believe this is the kind of team Kunos are; always wanting to better themselves and bring their new knowledge and use it to benefit not only what is to come, but also the what is already available. 10. Free R8 V10 Plus A new update has been released for Assetto Corsa bringing the title to version 1.3.5 and along with the typical fixes and improvements comes the Audi R8 V10 Plus as a free bonus car. The latest patch fixes a number of cars, including their tyre textures and alignment corrections, along with server performance, multithread physics improvements and everything else you see below. 1.3.5 Changelog New Audi R8 V10 Plus bonus car Fixed Nissan GT-R Nismo fuel gauge Fixed Mercedes SLS GT3 default tyre texture Fixed Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Hard tyres name, causing issue on MP tyre compound restriction acServer: fixed issue with timing who caused session skipping ksEditor: Added fuel and brakes script tools Corrected Alfa Romeo 4c alignment and setup values Eliminated wrong tags from Ford GT40 Works on the tyre heating model continues with new surface rolling heat generation on some cars Performance optimization on car multithread physics New improved smoothing and “anti lag” systems for both client and server UPDATE: Shortly after this update was available a 1.3.6 hotfix patch went live, remedying the below issues. 1.3.6 Changelog Audi R8 V10 Plus cockpit changeable brake balance disabled Tweaked the default Alfa Romeo GTA setup Ferrari F458 S3 on V6 tyres and small electronic diff tweaks Client side anti-lag improvements Removed chatty debug log messages in MP Tweaked “default” Post Processing effect Fixed limiter sounds for Pagani Zonda Assetto Corsa is available via Steam and current players just have to start their games up to grab the latest updates. 11. Audi For Free, Bonus! Those kind Italians over at Kunos Simulazioni have decided to give an AUDI R8 Plus as a free bonus to Assetto Corsa players. Posted on their Facebook with a simple sneak peek of the car shown on a track that people are getting into detective mode trying to figure out, the new vehicle will come at no extra cost for players when it is released. Right now, it is not known if this is a stand-alone, or will be part of a pack or some other promotional give away. To get an eyedea of what you may experience, you can watch an advertisement for the actual car below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4Z23wVrw7I
  12. A DREAM COME 2 True to their word about the release of Assetto Corsa (AC) Dream Pack 2 and the version 1.3 update coming before [the end of] October 8th, Kunos Simulazioni (Kunos) have released both as of yesterday. The AC Dream Pack 2 contains in a first for PC racing simulations, a laser-scanned version of the Circuit of Catalunya in two layouts, and eight brand new cars with two of them in different versions making for ten in total. Similar to the first Dream Pack, the cars included have been selected from the results of polls where gamers have picked their favourite manufacturers and models via the Assetto Corsa website. "A resolution of 2 cm guarantees that every single bump, curb and slope is a perfect match to the real counterpart. The resulting accuracy combined with the advanced physics model of Assetto Corsa offers an unprecedented driving experience blurring even more the difference between virtual racing and reality." - Kunos Simulazioni Due to its complexity, the laser-scanned Catalunya circuit took nine months to recreate and is "the most faithful version of the Spanish track available in any racing game to date" according to Kunos. The cars fall in the Production and Racing categories, with the normal of the selection consisting of those from BMW, Lamborghini and RUF and the Racing having a Ford - the first in the game - legend, an Audi, another Lamborghini and that racing prototype SCG003 from that mega-rich jammy sod James Glickenhaus. Dream Pack 2 Content: Track: Circuit of Catalunya – GP / MOTO GP version Racing cars AUDI R8 ULTRA 2014 FORD GT40 MKI LAMBORGHINI Huracán GT3 Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003 Production cars BMW M4 Coupé BMW M4 Coupé Akrapovič Edition LAMBORGHINI Countach 5000 QuattroValvole RUF RT 12 R AWD RUF RT 12 R RWD The Dream Pack 2 is available on Steam for €7.99. [gallery columns=5" ids="3011,3010,3008,3007,3006,3005,3004,3002,3001,3015,3016,3018,3019,3020,3021,3024,3025,3026,3027,3029,3030,3031,3032,3033,3034,3035,3036,3037,3038,3039] As for the update, well it is a game changer, literally. With improvement to the core game engine along with new features to the physics engine the game now supports native 64-bit. The physics engine has been reworked and is now multithreaded (though there is a report of Dual Core instability that will be fixed on Monday) proving for a better driving experience, "butter-smooth" Force Feedback and the apparent removal of signal noise and vibrations. AC's physics code is extremely highly-regarded, constantly evolving with many improvements being implemented during its life. 1.3 takes this further again with advanced active aerodynamics, four-wheel drive simulation with active differentials, authentic driving assists, hybrid engine simulation and a scary attention to tyre-wear aspects such as blistering, graining and flat spotting. With version 1.3 we now present you a completely reworked tyre model that includes new features in connection with tyre-speed sensitivity, combined grip, slip angles and ratios, load sensitivity, rolling resistance and most importantly, separated heating for surface and core temperatures. As a result, driving in Assetto Corsa is now more realistic than ever. The driving experience is more natural while at the same time also more challenging at the limit. Real-life features such as driving carefully in the first two laps to heat the tyres or taking it easy to cool down overheated tyres after a spin, the handling of the car changing from turn to turn depending on your driving style or as a result of driver errors and choosing the correct tyre compound depending on the track and car combination and also your driving style will now become part of your daily driving experience in Assetto Corsa. - Assetto Corsa Facebook And they haven't stopped at the tyres. Improved ABS system and depending on the car you're virtually sitting in, the game now supports different generations of these systems using 1 to 4 channels. Assetto Corsa: Version 1.3 Update Physics 64-bit natively supported and car physics calculated on multi-thread. The physics engine has been reworked to become completely multithreaded: as a result, the driving precision is augmented, the accuracy further improved and the physics solver has enough horsepower to completely resolve any difficult calculations any speed, achieving butter smooth Force Feedback and complete elimination of signal noise and vibrations. We'll be back with more details on physics updates when the new build will be released next week. Graphics 2D/3D models, textures and shaders have been updated and improved, in order to keep the standards reached with the latest content. Now windscreens receive shadows, and a new camera facing feature improves the rendering of 2D/3D objects on track. A first basic support for dynamic objects on tracks has been added as well, and it will be improved in future updates, with the aim to get a more immersive environment. Sound Fine tuning and improved algorithms for audio editing: all new cars benefit by use of new techniques of recording and sampling for engines, interiors and exhaust systems, also thanks to the technical cooperation of Akrapovic. This allows to recreate a more detailed audio trace and the exclusive detail of each car, improving the immersion while driving. Content that are available already in Assetto Corsa will be updated during the process, to bring them to a higher level of realism and in line with the latest quality standards. Multiplayer Dedicated server has been optimized in order to improve general stability.
