  1. Assetto Corsa Competizione Full Version Released The wait is over. After many months in Early Access, publisher 505 Games and developer Kunos Simulazioni have released the full version of their Assetto Corsa Competizione, the official game of the Blancpain GT Series on Steam. Assetto Corsa Competizione allows players to experience the real atmosphere of the FIA GT3 homologated championship, including official drivers, teams, cars and circuits, reproduced in-game with the highest level of accuracy. Developed using Unreal Engine 4 to ensure a visual treat, Assetto Corsa Competizione sets a new standard in driving realism and immersion, including the introduction of variable weather conditions and night races. Virtual drivers will experience a simulation of the Blancpain GT Series by taking the wheel of one of the game’s featured luxury motorcars including Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins, or choose from a number of other prestigious GT racing cars, all replicated with an outstanding level of detail. Using LaserScan technology, every official circuit has been recreated with precision with the utmost accuracy, a level of detail appreciated by the real-life drivers of Blancpain GT Series who actively took part in the development process and use Assetto Corsa Competizione to train before the actual races. Assetto Corsa Competizione V1.0 is now available on Steam for a Promotional launch price of €40,49. 2. Assetto Corsa Competizione – Official Community FAQ Just over a week ago, Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games revealed Assetto Corsa Competizione, the official game of the Blancpain GT Series. Naturally a flurry of questions have been asked about what exactly it is and several other important factors, and so, they’ve answered a selection of them to help us better understand. To summarise the more important aspects: Competizione is a whole new game, not just a break-off (so it is AC2 then?) At this time, Competizione is being developed only for PC (Steam) and this will continue throughout the ‘Early Access’ period (so a possible move to console once ACC 1.0 comes perhaps?) Competizione will use an improved version of the AC physics engine and not those of Unreal Engine 4 AC will continue to remain online for as long as people are active on it but new updates and content will not be forthcoming as the all the team is now on Competizione Full day and night are in In regards to modding, it is best to see the last question as it sounds like they are unable to commit to it because of their inexperience with the new engine (potential for some smart cookies to work it out afterwards?) The whole (brief) Q&A is listed below. What is Assetto Corsa Competizione? Assetto Corsa Competizione is our all-new racing simulation that reproduces the Blancpain GT Series Championship managed by SRO and based on the GT3 homologation. ACC is not an additional module or an extension of Assetto Corsa but a different, new and separate product altogether! Is AC Competizione a spin-off of Assetto Corsa? Absolutely not! We are developing AC Competizione from scratch. It takes advantage of the Blancpain GT experience, know-how and data collection acquired while working on AC. However, AC Competizione is not AC featuring the Blancpain GT Series. It is a completely new game that will offer realistic car handling as well as new features and gameplay not seen before in our products. Will AC Competizione be available on PC Steam only, or on console too? Right now, all our efforts are going into developing Assetto Corsa Competizione on Steam, during Early Access. Does AC Competizione use the UE4 Engine’s physics? AC Competizione will feature an evolution of the physics engine already used in Assetto Corsa, completely independent from UE4’s built in physics. What is going to happen to Assetto Corsa now you’re working on Competizione? The game will continue to be available for purchase, servers for multiplayer and lobbies will be kept open and active for as long as people continue to play it. The game will not receive further updates now (It has now been 7 years since AC development started and 4 years from its 1.0 release) Our entire team is now focused on AC Competizione. Why the Blancpain GT Series? What does make it so special? When we started to figure out what the new AC would have to be, we saw that -including AC- the current generation of racing games offers a huge variety of “generic” titles performing multiple race modes with any kind of cars. This usually results in finding a compromise in terms of score, racing rules, gameplay modes etc. On the other side, very few games are dedicated to a specific race series that can be completely simulated in all its detail and, more importantly, can keep gamers focused. Whenever we’ve asked the community for their opinion, GT racing was always on the top of their wish list, and we found that the Blancpain GT Series fits the bill! Featuring Sprint races, endurance, night racing, driver swaps, official teams and drivers, these are exactly the things our fans asked for! Not to mention the best GT cars available, in their racing outfit, that results in lightness, handling, grip and brake power. Add to this formula the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, and you get the best thrilling GT racing series ever. Will we see a day / night cycle in Assetto Corsa Competizione? Yes – Players will be able to race at any time of the day, thanks to a realtime, full day / night cycle. What are the recommended system requirements for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Our minimum target specification is currently an i5-2500/AMD FX-8100 or equivalent, 4 GB RAM and NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760. However, right now, it’s way too early to be more precise. Over time, we’ll be able to be more specific later as we continue to develop ACC. Therefore, if you are considering upgrading your hardware configuration, we strongly suggest you wait for our Early Access before upgrading. Will Assetto Corsa Competizione be moddable? And will modders be able to port their work onto AC Competizione? Assetto Corsa’s structure was designed from the beginning to be moddable. Being developed with UE4, AC Competizione processes data and assets through a completely different structure and file format. Therefore, the game will not be compatible with mod contents created for Assetto Corsa. Also, our team does not have enough experience with UE4 to tackle both the development a brand-new game and the challenges of supporting an open platform in the time frame available for this project. We are fully aware of the importance of modding and its contribution to the success of Assetto Corsa. It’s a great way for new talents to emerge, for the community to “suggest” new directions and/or simply to make a product richer. It is not a coincidence that some of the best community members are now contributing with us to the evolution of the software. However, for ACC this element will have to be put in stand-by mode for a series of reasons. The most important one is that we have given ourselves an enormous task of rebuilding, once again our software from (almost) scratch. In a world where pretty much, every product you see on the market in simracing is an evolution of games that have been on the market 10-15 years ago, our approach is to get a big axe and reset things to (almost) zero before starting with a new project. ACC is no exception. In this case the task is rendered more complex by the fact that we are using, for the first time a third party engine that we did not design ourselves and the truth is, given the amount of time we have available to deliver ACC to the public, we have more than enough on our hands trying to figure out how to use the engine effectively to also think about how to make the platform moddable. As you can imagine, this has been source of endless discussions in the last year and half as every decision comes with pros and cons, there is going to be pain no matter what your final call will be. It goes without saying that we believe we made the right call even if that means losing the huge benefits of a moddable platform. [via 505 Games]
  3. Bonus Pack 3 Out For Xbox One Xbox One players of Assetto Corsa can now breathe a sigh a relief as Bonus Pack 3 is now available for them too! Bundled in with update v1.20, the free content is one that PC players have been enjoying since December last year, and the PS4 for about a fortnight (despite some gremlins). After downloading players will be able to lap and race around Laguna Seca in all its laser-scanned glory and partake in experiencing the remarkable selection of cars included. Don't believe me, just watch this trailer from the PC release exhibit just how nuts it is that this pack has been given away for nothing. And just in case it wasn’t obvious from the video, or maybe you just couldn’t be bothered watching it, here are the cars that are added. Bonus Pack 3 – Cars Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Lamborghini Huràcan Performante Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Maserati Alfieri Concept Maserati Quattroporte Pagani Huayra BC With this looking to be the last drop of content for the title, it’s a hell of a way for developer Kunos Simulazioni to say their goodbyes. Anyone considering jumping in now should wait for the Ultimate Edition in April, though there are always promotions, so if that is too much of a wait just keep an eye out at the usual places. And don’t forget, there is also the brand new Assetto Corsa Competizione still to come later this year. Although a console version is likely quite a ways off... if there is one at all.
  4. Assetto Corsa Competizione Kunos Simulazioni told us last week to watch out for today and the reason for that has been revealed, with the announcement of Assetto Corsa Competizione. First off, this isn’t a sequel, so it’s not Assetto Corsa 2, it’s actually a more evolved spin-off, and the reason for this is that ACC is the official game of the Blancpain GT Series. A series that is incredible to watch, featuring popular Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Audi, and other supercars, kitted out in GT3 racing guise, battling hard against one another, often at high speeds. Only announced for a summer release on Steam Early Access right now, ACC looks like it might follow on in the same vein as the original. Although hopefully because of the popularity of Assetto Corsa, the take up will be so rapid that a console version will be announced shortly thereafter. Wait... it’s not a sequel? Looking at the announcement trailer it would be easy to believe that this could be a sequel, but it’s not, and even though it now uses Unreal Engine 4 which delivers vastly improved visuals and effects, has day to night transitions, weather, and will use motion capture technology to create new animations of drivers and the mechanics in order to produce an accurate sense of being a part of the race, this is still not a direct AC sequel. Featuring an extraordinary level of simulation quality that allows players to experience the unique atmosphere of this GT3 Series, players can compete against official drivers, teams, cars and circuits with the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail. In fact like the very start of the video says, this game is all about getting back to the core of racing, and as you would expect of a title being “official”, the drivers, teams, cars and circuits of the Blancpain series will feature. There will even be driver changes! Motion capture technology is used to create the animations of mechanics and drivers in an even more realistic fashion and guarantee a high level of player engagement during races, pit stops and driver changes. Racing real people? Of course, in fact there will be an even better multiplayer portion to ACC including a driver ranking system like that found in iRacing and Gran Turismo Sport. Anything that inspires good clean fights up (or down) the grid together with fair competition, is fine by us! All in all this is a direction many probably never saw coming for the next AC, but it won’t I suspect be an unwanted one, and we are only at the very beginning of learning all about it anyway, so let's see what further information comes out before we make up our minds. 5. Assetto Corsa Ultimate Edition Announced As the Bonus Pack 3 content pack starts to arrive on console – starting first with the PS4 only days ago – comes the announcement of a brand new Assetto Corsa Ultimate Edition, a complete package containing everything that has come to the acclaimed simulation racer since its launch. That means all the premium packs such as the Red Pack, Japanese Pack, the trio of Porsche Packs, Ferrari 70th Anniversary and the others, along with all the free Bonus Packs and content that has landed over its time, helps take the total amount of content to 178 cars and 16 circuits with 33 track configurations: including real-world legends such as Spa, Laguna Seca and Nürburgring, with fantasy tracks Black Cat County and Highlands mingling in. No doubt a final farewell to the original game, and a good way to entice those who never jumped in to see just what they have been missing, the Ultimate Edition is out for PS4 and Xbox One on April 20th. Setting up those who like what they see, to keenly watch whatever is next to come from the Kunos development team. Awesome to see a developer use the ‘Ultimate Edition’ label and actually mean it. The End of Assetto Corsa? Presumably, this signals the end of support for the original AC by Kunos, as only minutes after revealing this did they tease that “something big is going to happen” on February 21st, together with a hint that it would be a good idea to watch the official site. Is the next Assetto Corsa game announcement less than a week away? Well, I guess we’ll know this time next week. [via Assetto Corsa Official]
  6. Assetto Corsa Bonus Pack 3 Out For PS4 Players of Assetto Corsa on PS4 can now go and experience the incredible Bonus Pack 3 content pack as part of the new 1.17 update. Xbox One racers unfortunately need to wait that little bit longer for theirs. (but they should be used to that by now :p) Despite taking close to two months more to land on console compared to that of PC, this generous gift from developers Kunos Simulazioni is one that has been well worth waiting for, as even though it is a free pack, the content included is in no way befitting of its zero cost price tag. For starters a fully laser-scanned recreation of the notorious Laguna Seca race track is the given circuit, and considering this could be seen to be good enough in most freebie cases that expectations could be lowered in regards to the cars... well that’s not the case here as every single one of the seven are quite simply remarkable in some way. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to see other games distribute them as star cars in at least two premium packs with filler vehicles making up the numbers. Funnily enough, with Laguna being a pride of the USA racing circuit, all of the cars are in fact Italian, featuring the four famous marques of Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, Maserati and Pagani. All of which are listed below. Bonus Pack 3 – Cars Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Lamborghini Huràcan Performante Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Maserati Alfieri Concept Maserati Quattroporte Pagani Huayra BC CAUTION!! It should be noted however, that there have been reports of some bugs and issues with this update causing crashes. Kunos are aware and working on a fix but it may be a good idea to watch their social channels and forum for more information in regards to this.
  7. Preparing Us For Assetto Corsa 2? An end of year blog post rounds off 2017 for the team at Kunos Simulazioni and at the helm of it is none other than Marco Massarutto, Assetto Corsa’s Brand & Product Manager. In it he wishes the community the best for 2018 and talks about the journey the game and his colleagues have been through, but it’s the end where a real hint towards Assetto Corsa 2 is made that is making people take notice. Unlike the posting made at the end of 2016, there is no real talk about content or plans for the current title which celebrated its third anniversary last month and coincided with the release of the exceptional Bonus Pack 3 on PC. In 2014 we launched version 1.0, in 2015 we introduced the Lamborghini licence and released the first version of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, based entirely on laserscan data. In 2016, we released the simulation to consoles, and announced the Porsche Programme, which brought the very best selection of Porsche cars in a genuine simulation after 13 years. In 2017, we celebrated the 70th anniversary of Ferrari with a dedicated pack that is one of the most successful DLC packages ever released for Assetto Corsa. Including all mentioned above, there was plenty of free and premium content put out, and support wasn’t just strong in DLC offered – a new sound fx system, and tweaks to the physics have been released periodically in the pursuit to provide a truly authentic experience. The Future Is Assetto Corsa 2? As much as Kunos would have liked to have made fan wishes for night and weather happen, the engine limitations stop this from being the case, however they have never shied away from the desire to do it, albeit needing to wait for a new game. And so the image that accompanies the blog post itself is surely another tease. [caption id=attachment_7599" align="aligncenter" width="1280] Starry sky, pretty fireworks... wait that's a track at night![/caption] If you still need convincing then I will end with these words from Massarutto: Even today, the community keeps asking for something new, and that is great as it means that you continue to keep us involved in fuelling your hobby, passion and training tools. To meet your expectations, and to support the features that our current technology cannot manage, some – actually a lot of – work will be required. So, it’s time to move forward. When it arrived, there had been nothing like Assetto Corsa before. We are working hard to replicate this feeling with what there is to come in the future. [via Assetto Corsa]
  8. Assetto Corsa 'Ferrari 70 Pack' Console Release Date The Assetto Corsa ‘Ferrari 70th Anniversary Pack’ for PS4 and Xbox One has a release date! Kunos Simulazioni have announced on Facebook that console players will be able to download the new celebratory pack on October 31st. This new premium (not included in Season Pass remember!) seven-car pack celebrates the 70th anniversary of one of the most infamous automotive manufacturers and motorsport racing names in history. Many of their cars, be it those suited to the road or dedicated racers have become legends in their own right – with the Prancing Horse logo and badge being so well known, that even the most uninformed person could likely name it. Steeped in success and excess, the contents of the pack include many familiar faces grills. From classics to modern-day, road cars to racing cars, even to the present-day Scuderia Ferrari Formula One racecar currently competing in this year's championship! Included after a public poll voted it the outright winner. This and the rest of the Ferraris included are shown below: Assetto Corsa - Ferrari 70th Anniversary Pack 1962 250 GTO 1967 330 P4 1967 312/67 1984 GTO 2004 F2004 2017 812 Superfast SF70H Kudos Kunos! Stating not too long ago that they were looking to bring down the time difference between content releases on PC and console, this news is a sign that this was not said to shut up moaners, but actually something they are actively working on. Players on PS4 and Xbox One might have had to wait six weeks to get it compared to those on PC, however it has to be remembered that the consoles have to go through a submission and approval process. And as has been seen in the past, delays from this can result in even longer waits (poor Xbox One players). Happily, it appears Kunos are getting a handle on this as the Ferrari 70 DLC pack passed by pretty swiftly. [via Assetto Corsa Facebook]
  9. Assetto Corsa – Laguna Seca Bonus Pack A new free Bonus Pack containing the Laguna Seca race track and at least six cars is coming to Assetto Corsa, hopefully before the end of the year. Product Brand Manager (+ many other titles!), Marco Massarutto revealed the news during an interview with SimRacingGirl at the recent SimRacing Expo. In it he was asked about the rumours that “they were bringing out the Laguna Seca track” (timestamp: 4 mins 7 seconds), to which he began his answer by explaining the technical problems that caused the delay in the first place, then continued on to how because of that, they have decided to piece together a new Bonus Pack that included the track and “6 to 8 cars”. From the sum of all its parts it is likely this was originally proposed to be a new premium Dream Pack, but we won't be complaining about the change if that was the case, nope not at all. Those of you with good memories will remember that the track was initially teased back in October last year, with an intended release a few months after. Since this interview, Massarutto has been busy doing what he does best, getting people hyped by unveiling even more details through his replies on Facebook. The latest of which has shown us the six cars that will make up the car-based portion of the pack. It hasn't been officially named, but on the official forums where another comment (need to be registered) made by Massarutto was referenced, but not sourced, they are calling it the Laguna Seca Bonus Pack, and so we will too. Assetto Corsa - 'Laguna Seca Bonus Pack' Cars Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Lamborghini Huracan Performante Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Maserati Quattroporte Pagani Huayra BC Looking at that list it’s quite unbelievable that this will be free but then Kunos Simulazioni have been really good to their fans, and if this is the final goodbye before they jump onto a new project (Assetto Corsa 2?), well it’s a super way to do it! Thanks Kelvjy for the tip!
  10. Assetto Corsa Ferrari 70th Anniversary Pack Out Now! The Assetto Corsa Ferrari 70th Anniversary Pack is now available to purchase on PC (Steam). In an amazing collaborative effort with the infamous Italian auto manufacturer, developers Kunos Simulazioni have gone and put together a pack that includes some of the most iconic models to have ever had a Ferrari badge on them. And with the title already having a rather nice selection of Ferraris in its roster by default, as well as those delivered inside the optional Red Pack, the scope covered in this new car pack is quite impressive, as classic and modern varieties of both road and racing cars make up its list. You would think having 70 years of production and racing heritage to choose from would be difficult, and it should be. But when people think of Ferrari, there are a number of cars that will always rank high, and so it is of little wonder that we see some of them here. Even then, Kunos only had to choose six as they left the final slot open for the winner of a poll that was voted for by their community, where with over 30,000 votes cast it was the current Formula 1 car taking the win with over 15% of the vote. Assetto Corsa - Ferrari 70th Anniversary Pack 1962 250 GTO 1967 330 P4 1967 312/67 1984 288 GTO 2004 F2004 2017 812 Superfast SF70H Depending on the type of player, this pack may be good for having more road cars to hot lap with, the ability to re/create racing series’, or even if they are a true Ferrari fan, they might want nothing more than to set up a one make race where the field is filled with only the legends that sport a Prancing Horse. Therefore if you like what you see, have a fondness for an Italian red beauty, or just want more cars in your copy of AC, then this pack will do you well. [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="small-post-image" ids="7285,7286,7296,7297,7298,7299,7293,7294,7295,7287,7288,7289,7290,7291,7292,7304,7305,7306,7307,7308,7300,7301,7302,7303,7310,7311,7312,7313,7309] As for those looking on enviously from console: unfortunately at this time there is little known in regards to a PS4 or Xbox One release timeframe for the Ferrari 70 Pack apart from a mention about it being "available in Fall [Autumn] 2017". That means at some point before the end of November. Honestly though, I would say as long as it drops before the end of the year that would be good – any earlier is a bonus
  11. Assetto Corsa 1.15 & Ready to Race DLC Out Now On Console Assetto Corsa on PS4 and Xbox One have received a new update that brings the console versions up to 1.15, Alongside this, the 'Ready to Race' car pack has also become available to purchase. Just like the big update of 1.14 before, this latest one introduces yet more goodness to the game that players will be thrilled to see. Improved AI that makes the computer-controlled opponents even racier will be very welcome to those who enjoy playing offline and are itching for more of a challenge. And it may have taken it’s time in getting here, having been one of the main demands since the early days of the game’s release, but customisable button mapping is now accessible. Assetto Corsa – Ready to Race PS4 & Xbox One Console players have become used to having to wait a while to get the same content that has been released previously for the PC but it still hurts when the time difference between it is realised. That 'Ready to Race' car pack that has just now dropped for the PS4 and Xbox One has taken almost four months to get to them. 'Ready to Race' Car Pack Audi R18 e-tron quattro 2014 Audi R8 LMS 2016 Audi TT Cup 2016 Audi TT RS (VLN) 2013 Lotus 3-Eleven Maserati MC12 GT1 McLaren 570S McLaren P1 GTR Toyota Celica ST185 Turbo Toyota TS040 Hybrid For many, the wait finally being over will be enough as the RTR pack is a stellar one – there is just so much variety in it with dedicated race cars, a McLaren road car and even a rally car making up its contents. (video below from PC announcement) It's good to see information starting to spill out about the game again, been a bit quiet in that area lately. But with this, along with the PC release date announcement of the Ferrari 70th Anniversary car pack, the future of AC is always something that can be looked forward to.
  12. Assetto Corsa v1.14 Xbox One Assetto Corsa fans on Xbox One have had a hell of a time the last month or so watching those on PS4 enjoy everything that the v1.14 update brought and delivered to the game, but at long last, they too will get to join in. Kunos Simulazioni have confirmed on their Facebook that the update has finally passed submission and has the green light for a release some time this week. This update is being waited for eagerly, as it brings custom and private lobbies, a selection of excellent free bonus cars and the awesome Scotland-based ‘Highlands’ track. Update v 1.14 has passed submission and we will be launching mid-next week! Stay tuned for more info! Once again, thanks for your continued show of support! It means a lot to the team. Along with the usual fixes and improvements, v1.14 has been looked upon as bringing new life to the game for many and so it is good to see that those on Xbox One will be able to get in on that action too, in the coming days.
  13. Assetto Corsa Ferrari 70th Anniversary DLC Bolting out of the stable a bit prematurely than intended, the details about the upcoming Assetto Corsa Ferrari 70th Anniversary car pack have become known, together with a confirmed ‘fall 2017’ release. Thanks to user Kelvjy who brought it to our attention on our forums, the page on the official website for the game lists six Ferrari models that will make up all but one of those to be included. It’s a right stormer of a list, not just for Ferrari fans either, but for automotive enthusiasts anywhere! Assetto Corsa: Ferrari 70th Anniversary DLC 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO 1967 Ferrari 330 P/4 1967 Ferrari 312/67 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO 2004 F2004 F1 2017 Ferrari 812 Superfast As we already learned at the start of the year, the community will have an opportunity to have a say about its contents and this is taking place through them being able to decide on the final model. This is possible due to Ferrari allowing Kunos Simulazioni to reproduce the winning model from the poll for inclusion pack. All the usual suspects are in there: from historic racecars, 70s and 90s era F1, a variety of GT-class racers, and oft-forgotten road cars like the 550M and 360 Modena. Voting is performed by visitors making their choice from the available options, entering their name and email address and then finally submitting their entry. Once done, the vote cannot be changed and the current standings are not viewable either. It should be realised that because this page went up before it should have that the information contained within it isn’t officially confirmed and is very much subject to change.
  14. Assetto Corsa – Are You ‘Ready To Race’ The new Assetto Corsa ‘Ready To Race’ car pack is now available to purchase on Steam for the PC. As you might expect with a title like that, this newest ten car DLC has a strong focus on those that have taken part in, and even won, their respective championships. Taking up their grid positions within the list are multiple entries from Audi, McLaren and Toyota, together with single contributions from Lotus and Maserati. The team at Kunos have shown that they know their stuff when it comes to stacking automotive content into these packs and it is clear from what's included that ‘RTR’ is no different. With the stand outs of this pack in my view being the the rally Toyota Celica ST185 Turbo, which sports that unmistakable Castrol livery, and the Maserati MC12 GT1, which in my opinion is a better looking Enzo. However I do expect a large majority of players to gravitate towards the more modern Le Mans racecars and the road-going McLaren 570S. I certainly would say to players though to have a wee go around 'Highlands' in the Lotus 3-Eleven, as if ever there was a car and track made for each other, that would be it. (no need to worry about the rain either!) Assetto Corsa – Ready To Race Car List Audi R8 LMS 2016 Audi R18 e-tron quattro 2014 Audi TT Cup 2016 Audi TT RS VLN Lotus 3-Eleven Maserati MC12 GT1 McLaren 570S McLaren P1 GTR Toyota Celica ST185 Turbo Toyota TS040 Hybrid Console owners of the game will also see ‘RTR’ come to them but with no time specified except for “in the near future”, it’s almost a given that a decent wait will be required. Thankfully this should be made much more tolerable due to the recent release of the v1.14 update that also brought along with it, a nice amount of free bonus content. 15. Assetto Corsa PS4 v1.14 Players of Assetto Corsa on PlayStation 4 will be delighted to hear that the update they have been waiting for has gone live, as at long last custom/private lobbies and custom championships are now a real thing thanks to this patch. And that’s not all players will get, as this update is a chunky one in free bonus content too. Providing something for both racers and drifters, the ‘Highlands’ track which is based in Scotland, is the latest environment to be added to the game. Made up of four layouts that offer their own set of challenges. New cars are on the agenda too, with five in total (3 being completely new) being added, and even though they are totally free, they are certainly not crap. There's a Group B rally legend Audi Quattro S1 E2 , a Le Mans winning Mazda 787B... and a Mazda MX-5 NA to take control of. That last one may not sound that special, but let’s remember, the MX-5 (Eunos) is lauded as one of the best drivers cars around and so when paired with the excellent physics of AC, it should be a real joy to play with. The physics engine gets an upgrade too, with the v10 tyre improvements coming to console after a solid showing on the PC. And finally, with Kunos keeping to their word from what seems a long time ago, owners of Porsche Pack Volume 3 will have the 911 RSR 2017 added to their game as a free update to that DLC.
  16. Assetto Corsa Console Update - Get Ready! The big Assetto Corsa console update (v1.14) that will add the ability to create custom lobbies, the new ‘Highlands’ track, and deliver five free bonus cars, is coming to PS4 players on May 17th. Announced on the official social media pages of the game the latest update which was detailed only recently is the BIG one for many console players, as it will give them the ability to set up their own racing lobbies online and also allow for the creation of custom championships offline. Therefore, whatever kind of racer you are, there's something here to keep you interested. It was expected that this update would likely be more towards the end of May rather than only a number of days after the earlier announcement by the team. However in saying that we are still waiting to hear about the Xbox One release. But with this being Kunos, at least we know we will be informed about whatever is happening with it, and hopefully Microsoft will supply them a drop date that they can then shout out. Many console players will be excited about the landing of this update as it brings a lot of extra content by way of the new Scotland-based 'Highlands' track (PC announcement trailer below), which was created in partnership with nVidia and Sparco because “the perfect track does not exist”. Ignoring the sales pitch, the new track and their layouts is designed to thrill and test players’ bravery with its high-speed sections along narrow roads that are littered with boulders along the edges. Factor in five new pieces of free machinery such as the Mazda 787B and this update will not only have current and previous players jumping back in, but could also sell the game to those who have waited. And if the update proves reliable, it would be hard to argue that won't be the case. [via Assetto Corsa Facebook]
  17. Assetto Corsa “Ready To Race” DLC An all-new premium DLC car pack is heading to Assetto Corsa next week and it is very much squarely aimed at the racing enthusiast, with the forthcoming release presenting a package that caters to multiple racing flavours. Coming first to players on the PC through Steam on May 18th, and then (much?) later for those on PS4 and Xbox One, this newest pack provides the “most wanted” ready to race models from Audi, Lotus, McLaren and Toyota. Assetto Corsa - “Ready To Race” Cars Audi R8 LMS 2016 Audi R18 e-tron quattro Audi TT Cup 2016 Audi TT VLN 2013 Lotus Eleven Maserati MC12 GT1 McLaren 570S McLaren P1 GTR Toyota Celica ST185 Turbo Toyota TS040 Hybrid As can be seen from the list above, the term “Race” is being broadly stretched, as with the inclusion of the Lotus 3-Eleven we must be looking at the local trackday kind, whereas the McLaren 570S must mean the manner in which speeding away from the lights in the city is one too. Obviously I am joking here, though the McLaren road car does seem a bit of strange one you have to admit. [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="small-post-image" ids="6920,6928,6926,6924,6919,6921,6922,6927,6923,6925] There will be an update (v1.14) released on the same day and some of what this will address is shown below. Further details about the “next major Steam update” to be revealed over the coming days. 18. Assetto Corsa Console Update v1.14... update The team behind Assetto Corsa are eager to keep their console population informed about what is going on with the approaching BIG v1.14 update. Unfortunately that doesn’t include a release date, however in a posting by publisher 505 Games we learn of everything it will have when it does come. For many online racers it will be the arrival of Custom Lobbies that will be the best thing, whereas those who play offline will enjoy being able to create their own Custom Championships. And if you’re sick of the view from the cockpit position then smile, as this is now possible to customise during a session. But that’s just the tip of it, as there is an astonishing amount of FREE bonus content landing also. The “Highlands” track, based in Scotland, is the first of these, PC players have been able to enjoy this and its four configurations for a while now, but in what we hope is not too long. so too will those on PS4 and Xbox One. Highlands – The original layout, 8152 meters long, filled with fast flowing path with curves and several jumps. Highlands Long – An extension of the original layout, 12191 meters long and has all the characteristics of the original layout. This layout features some slower curves, a fast series of left and right turns, after a passage between rocks and the distinctive 3km long “Cabhag straight” Highlands Drift – A configuration born to create long powerslides with supercars and hypercars. At 5167 meters long, this layout features long, flat and smooth curves, perfect for holding a constant power slide. The “tower lùb”, guards the surroundings at the top of the hill. Highlands Short – The shortest configuration, only 1714 meters, but based entirely inside the city. Incredibly intense and requires the concentration of a pro. Should you have exhausted the usage of the current available vehicles then smile, as five more are on their way and they won’t cost you a thing. The selection is extremely varied, with two from Mazda that could not be any more different to each other (unless one of them could fly), an Audi rallying legend, a 1200bhp producing bi-turbo Lamborghini Gallardo, and an extremely nice sounding BMW M4. Those last two are kind of already existing examples in new clothes but for no cost to us, we’ll take it. Assetto Corsa – PS4 / Xbox One Free Bonus Content Highlands (4 layouts) Audi Quattro S1 E2 Mazda MX5 NA Mazda 787B BMW M4 Akrapovic Lamborghini Gallardo SL Step3 There is also a quite substantial upgrade to the physics engine, with the new v10 tyre physics added along with the following: UPGRADED PHYSICS ENGINE * Updated minimum pressures and optimum pressures for various cars. * New v10 tyre wear algorithms more sensitive to load for all cars. * Graining is now reducing when driving in good temperature conditions. * New and updated V10 street, semislick, vintage, and race slicks tyres for all cars. A total of 151 cars updated. * Updates for cars that already had V10 tyres. * Updated chassis balance and inertias for all 151 available cars. * Updated engine coast braking for street cars. * Updated Brake heat for the following cars * Shelby Cobra * Lamborghini Miura * Alfa Romeo GTA * Abarth 595 * Ford Escort RS * Ford GT40 * Lotus 25 * Lotus 49 * Maserati 250F 6C and 12C * Lotus 72D * Ferrari 312T * Ferrari F40 Don’t worry premium content buyers, you’re not being completely left out, as if you splashed out on the Porsche Pack Vol. 3 (or the Porsche Season Pass) then you will find the 911 RSR 2017 will be yours. Just like they promised. Providing there are no other delays with submission or anything else unforeseen, the long-awaited update should be with us at some point this May. 19. Assetto Corsa Console Private Lobbies Delay The wait for the Assetto Corsa console update that will at long last bring custom lobbies, has unfortunately received another delay. Kunos Simulazioni shared the news, and their sorrow, at not being able to get the update out before the end of April as they had hoped on their official social media channels over the weekend. To help ease the upset however, they did provide a few screens of the feature in action and some of the many settings ardent players will be able to use, when it does eventually land. [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="6828,6829,6830] Console players of the game shouldn’t be too bothered with this latest push back as let’s be honest, a lengthy wait is not unexpected in the console scene. We would hazard a guess that May will be the month it will actually become available but we wouldn’t bet a chicken dinner on it.
  20. Assetto Corsa HALF PRICE! There are MAHOOSIVE SAVINGS on everything Assetto Corsa right now on Steam. Everything including the game and its DLC has had its price slashed by AT LEAST 50%!! Incredibly the 'Porsche Season Pass' gets the best deal of the lot, with a crazy reduction of more than 60%! At these sort of prices, there is little reason for the already owning Assetto Corsa player not to purchase some of the additional content available. Or, for non-owners to take the plunge and find out for themselves why this sim-racer is highly regarded by so many. It should also be worth mentioning that the game is still very well supported and has a good 2017 ahead of it in regards to content to come. Such as the 'Ferrari 70th Anniversary Pack', 'British Pack' and more that still hasn’t been teased or shown to us yet. For those who enjoy their racing sims, this title is one that should already be installed. But if you do not, then here is the perfect opportunity to change that. [via Assetto Corsa on Steam]
  21. Assetto Corsa Hits The Highlands Of Scotland Kunos Simulazioni are well known for their transparency, in that they are consistently keen to share upcoming developments for Assetto Corsa. Over the past month they have been teasing and showing us plenty of the fictional Scottish location coming as a free bonus track. The new location is officially called ‘Highlands’ and is out now for PC on Steam along with a free bonus car, the mind-blowing Audi Quattro S1 E2 Group B! This new track has been created in partnership with nVidia and Sparco with the intention of creating the perfect race track… and in Scotland no less. Yes people, Scotland is perfect, the Italians have said so! It comes in four configurations with layouts comprising of Short, Normal, Long and Drift layouts: The ‘Normal’ version is 8152 meters long and is made up of fast, flowing but narrow roads with several jumps designed to thrill as well as test you. ‘Short’ is a return to some good quality urban style racing. Here players race around the city area and will need to be watch for those sharp angled turns and the barrier covered surroundings as at only 1714 meters, this will be a track that requires some precision driving. Looking for some grueling but fun punishment? Then the 'Long' layout has you covered (in sweat probably!). Only 12,191 meters long and containing all that the Normal configuration has, there are some extra slow curves, a series of speedy left and right turns and the terrifying "Cabhag straight" which runs for a colossal 3km. And for the drift muppets out there, you all get your own specially tailored 'Drift' layout aimed at achieving some serious angle at a ludicrous speed thanks to the combination of some smooth and flat curves allowing for long and constant sliding. Each layout shares the same start position and pit lane, along with the first and final 2 corners. The console community should be seeing arrive on their machines within the next month or so if previous content releases are anything to go by. In saying that, let's not see a time difference similar to that of the 'Red Pack' eh Kunos? 22. Porsche Pack Volume 3 – Console The latest update for Assetto Corsa, the Porsche Pack Volume 3 and Update 1.12 we reported on last week is finally out for the Playstation 4, with the updates coming to Xbox One players tomorrow. Console players of Assetto Corsa should now be getting used to being 2-3 months behind PC users when it comes to these updates, it must be very frustrating watching the clock to see when updates you've known about for a months will be available. As reported last week, the Xbox One update has suffered a delay, but thankfully the team over at Kunos have made an effort to get that delay down to just one more day. Great work! This is the final of three Porsche Packs, finishing the Assetto Corsa Porsche extravaganza. It is made up of racing icons of historic and contemporary racers. The pack was originally meant to contain a 2017 911 RSR, however this was delayed as the team felt the car was not ready for release yet and so the Turbo S was brought in to make up the numbers. Despite the swap, Kunos have promised that the new 911 RSR will land as a free upgrade to the Porsche Pack Vol. 3 when the car is ready. PORSCHE PACK VOL. 3 DLC CARS Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 R 2016 Porsche 919 Hybrid 2016 Porsche 908 LH Porsche 917 K Porsche 911 R Porsche 911 Turbo S The accompanying update has a few items of note, such as improvements to the damage and repair system intending to make collisions more realistic, some models have been tweaked including some cockpit instruments, and some Events for the 3 Porsche Packs and the ‘Red Pack’ have been added. The Macan Turbo, the last of the free Porsche bonus cars will be made available. Private Lobbies are not included in this update, however a comment on the Assetto Corsa’s Facebook page states that they are aiming to get it out in 1.13 (bad luck for some). Also missing is the Custom Championship feature, although you can be fairly confident that Kunos are working on getting this out for their console playing community. UPDATE V 1.12 Changelog Added support for DLC content: Porsche Pack #3 FREE bonus car! – Porsche Macan Turbo The damage and repair system has been improved. As a result, collisions will now appear more realistic Various 3D models have been tweaked and improved, including that of the cockpit instrumentation Reviewed damage curve and repair times Fixed wing damage model on Nissan GTR Fixed graphics kersCharge and kersInput for ERS system Fixed wrong online pit crew locations Improve AI cut detection Fixed Ferrari FXX K fins All-new special events 15 events for The Red Pack DLC 13 events for Porsche Pack Vol. 2 DLC 12 events for Porsche Pack Vol. 3 DLC
  23. More DLC For Assetto Corsa In 2017 At the end of last year Marco Massarutto shared a preview of what was outlined for Assetto Corsa in 2017 in an official blog post. A few of those items have already been unveiled and should be arriving sometime soon. With the release date approaching, Massarutto has been teasing even more content on his personal Facebook account, this time revealing an assortment of vehicle renders. There is no real common theme with what he is showing us but it gives us an idea of the sort of content they could potentially be packaged with. First up is a Lotus 3-Eleven that will most likely be a part of the already confirmed ‘British Car Pack’. Following this is a variety ranging from classic Le Mans racers to fairly modern vehicles. The delayed 911 RSR 2017 makes another appearance along with the already seen Audi Quattro S1 Group B, which gets some rallying company in the form of the Toyota Celica GT-FOUR. (what about a loose surface rally track for them to play on?) [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="6649,6648,6646] Le Mans racers, old and new, are represented by the more contemporary Toyota TS040 LMP1 and the Audi R18E-Tron Quattro whereas the crazy ass past is gloriously personified by the legend that is the Mazda 787B. If Kunos can accurately recreate the sound of that beast, it will be a selling point for the game right there! [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="6647,6642,6644] A fair bit of Audi racing metal is shown, leading to the possibility that there could be a dedicated content pack for the marque. This is just me assuming so, and as I have been told many times: you should never assume and so I won’t..... Making up the end of this picture grid is a favourite of both hairdressers and any one else who enjoys a proper driving experience. Oh yes, the classic Mazda Miata will be approaching Assetto Corsa (at a moderate speed) on all available platforms at some point this year. A few hours later, Massarutto must have felt he hadn't shown us enough, and so he kindly dropped a render of a red bonnet/hood. And not just any bonnet, as the bulge, plastic coverings and pins hint to the infamous Ferrari 250 GTO. This fits in nicely with the planned car pack that will celebrate Ferrari’s 70th anniversary, in which 7 of the most iconic models to ever feature the Prancing Horse will be included. Judging by how quickly AC has released content soon after it was unveiled it in the past, chances are the wait for these won’t actually be that long.
  24. Porsche Pack Vol. 3 For Console Next week will see the release of Porsche Pack Volume 3 and update 1.12 on the PlayStation 4, but unfortunately Xbox One users will have to wait as the update “encountered some issues” on the platform. The final of the three Porsche Packs will deliver yet another quality selection of vehicles from the Porsche brand, both old and new. Modern racing machinery gets a big nod, with two 991 GT3 racers and the 2016 Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid among the pack's contents. Classic racing isn't overlooked either thanks to the inclusion of the iconic 908 Lang-Heck (LH) and 917 K, which are both ready and willing to be let loose on the numerous circuits and roads of Assetto Corsa. Last and by certainly no means least, the pack contains two of the most sought after modern Porsches, the 911 R and a 911 Turbo S. PORSCHE PACK VOL. 3 DLC CARS Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 R 2016 Porsche 919 Hybrid 2016 Porsche 908 LH Porsche 917 K Porsche 911 R Porsche 911 Turbo S For those of you who remember the early days of when the car lists were revealed, you might be thinking ‘there’s something not quite right here?’. And you would be right, as the 911 RSR 2017 was meant to be included in this pack. However due to Kunos not feeling that the car was ready, they replaced it with the Turbo S with the promise to bring the RSR 2017 as a free upgrade to owners of the pack at a later date. It seems that they will be keeping to their word, as this promise has been repeated in the blog post announcing this pack. However, there is no mention as to when this could be. As with previous updates, the latest will bring another free Porsche to owners of the standard game, with the last of these being the Macan Turbo. UPDATE V 1.12 RELEASE NOTES Added support for DLC content: Porsche Pack #3 FREE bonus car! – Porsche Macan Turbo The damage and repair system has been improved. As a result, collisions will now appear more realistic Various 3D models have been tweaked and improved, including that of the cockpit instrumentation All-new special events 15 events for The Red Pack DLC 13 events for Porsche Pack Vol. 2 DLC 12 events for Porsche Pack Vol. 3 DLC [via Assetto Corsa blog]
  25. Assetto Corsa Takes The Highlands Road A good amount of new images and a couple of videos of the still as of now unnamed fictional Scottish location heading to Assetto Corsa has been posted by teaser-pleaser, Marco Massarutto. The new selection of images that have appeared over the last few days gives a further look at the Highland town track that the Audi Quattro S1 rally car was also shown in at the end of last month. We don’t know how many of the four track layouts this area will feature in, but we can see that this part which is made up of cobbled streets and surrounded by homes is before the longish narrow high-speed section. [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="6574,6575,6576] Through only still images it is difficult to get a sense of how a course runs, and so thankfully, Massarutto has added some videos to his page.
