  1. Preparing Us For Assetto Corsa 2? An end of year blog post rounds off 2017 for the team at Kunos Simulazioni and at the helm of it is none other than Marco Massarutto, Assetto Corsa’s Brand & Product Manager. In it he wishes the community the best for 2018 and talks about the journey the game and his colleagues have been through, but it’s the end where a real hint towards Assetto Corsa 2 is made that is making people take notice. Unlike the posting made at the end of 2016, there is no real talk about content or plans for the current title which celebrated its third anniversary last month and coincided with the release of the exceptional Bonus Pack 3 on PC. In 2014 we launched version 1.0, in 2015 we introduced the Lamborghini licence and released the first version of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, based entirely on laserscan data. In 2016, we released the simulation to consoles, and announced the Porsche Programme, which brought the very best selection of Porsche cars in a genuine simulation after 13 years. In 2017, we celebrated the 70th anniversary of Ferrari with a dedicated pack that is one of the most successful DLC packages ever released for Assetto Corsa. Including all mentioned above, there was plenty of free and premium content put out, and support wasn’t just strong in DLC offered – a new sound fx system, and tweaks to the physics have been released periodically in the pursuit to provide a truly authentic experience. The Future Is Assetto Corsa 2? As much as Kunos would have liked to have made fan wishes for night and weather happen, the engine limitations stop this from being the case, however they have never shied away from the desire to do it, albeit needing to wait for a new game. And so the image that accompanies the blog post itself is surely another tease. [caption id=attachment_7599" align="aligncenter" width="1280] Starry sky, pretty fireworks... wait that's a track at night![/caption] If you still need convincing then I will end with these words from Massarutto: Even today, the community keeps asking for something new, and that is great as it means that you continue to keep us involved in fuelling your hobby, passion and training tools. To meet your expectations, and to support the features that our current technology cannot manage, some – actually a lot of – work will be required. So, it’s time to move forward. When it arrived, there had been nothing like Assetto Corsa before. We are working hard to replicate this feeling with what there is to come in the future. [via Assetto Corsa]
  2. Assetto Corsa – Laguna Seca Bonus Pack A new free Bonus Pack containing the Laguna Seca race track and at least six cars is coming to Assetto Corsa, hopefully before the end of the year. Product Brand Manager (+ many other titles!), Marco Massarutto revealed the news during an interview with SimRacingGirl at the recent SimRacing Expo. In it he was asked about the rumours that “they were bringing out the Laguna Seca track” (timestamp: 4 mins 7 seconds), to which he began his answer by explaining the technical problems that caused the delay in the first place, then continued on to how because of that, they have decided to piece together a new Bonus Pack that included the track and “6 to 8 cars”. From the sum of all its parts it is likely this was originally proposed to be a new premium Dream Pack, but we won't be complaining about the change if that was the case, nope not at all. Those of you with good memories will remember that the track was initially teased back in October last year, with an intended release a few months after. Since this interview, Massarutto has been busy doing what he does best, getting people hyped by unveiling even more details through his replies on Facebook. The latest of which has shown us the six cars that will make up the car-based portion of the pack. It hasn't been officially named, but on the official forums where another comment (need to be registered) made by Massarutto was referenced, but not sourced, they are calling it the Laguna Seca Bonus Pack, and so we will too. Assetto Corsa - 'Laguna Seca Bonus Pack' Cars Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Lamborghini Huracan Performante Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Maserati Quattroporte Pagani Huayra BC Looking at that list it’s quite unbelievable that this will be free but then Kunos Simulazioni have been really good to their fans, and if this is the final goodbye before they jump onto a new project (Assetto Corsa 2?), well it’s a super way to do it! Thanks Kelvjy for the tip!
  3. More DLC For Assetto Corsa In 2017 At the end of last year Marco Massarutto shared a preview of what was outlined for Assetto Corsa in 2017 in an official blog post. A few of those items have already been unveiled and should be arriving sometime soon. With the release date approaching, Massarutto has been teasing even more content on his personal Facebook account, this time revealing an assortment of vehicle renders. There is no real common theme with what he is showing us but it gives us an idea of the sort of content they could potentially be packaged with. First up is a Lotus 3-Eleven that will most likely be a part of the already confirmed ‘British Car Pack’. Following this is a variety ranging from classic Le Mans racers to fairly modern vehicles. The delayed 911 RSR 2017 makes another appearance along with the already seen Audi Quattro S1 Group B, which gets some rallying company in the form of the Toyota Celica GT-FOUR. (what about a loose surface rally track for them to play on?) [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="6649,6648,6646] Le Mans racers, old and new, are represented by the more contemporary Toyota TS040 LMP1 and the Audi R18E-Tron Quattro whereas the crazy ass past is gloriously personified by the legend that is the Mazda 787B. If Kunos can accurately recreate the sound of that beast, it will be a selling point for the game right there! [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="6647,6642,6644] A fair bit of Audi racing metal is shown, leading to the possibility that there could be a dedicated content pack for the marque. This is just me assuming so, and as I have been told many times: you should never assume and so I won’t..... Making up the end of this picture grid is a favourite of both hairdressers and any one else who enjoys a proper driving experience. Oh yes, the classic Mazda Miata will be approaching Assetto Corsa (at a moderate speed) on all available platforms at some point this year. A few hours later, Massarutto must have felt he hadn't shown us enough, and so he kindly dropped a render of a red bonnet/hood. And not just any bonnet, as the bulge, plastic coverings and pins hint to the infamous Ferrari 250 GTO. This fits in nicely with the planned car pack that will celebrate Ferrari’s 70th anniversary, in which 7 of the most iconic models to ever feature the Prancing Horse will be included. Judging by how quickly AC has released content soon after it was unveiled it in the past, chances are the wait for these won’t actually be that long.
  4. Assetto Corsa Takes The Highlands Road A good amount of new images and a couple of videos of the still as of now unnamed fictional Scottish location heading to Assetto Corsa has been posted by teaser-pleaser, Marco Massarutto. The new selection of images that have appeared over the last few days gives a further look at the Highland town track that the Audi Quattro S1 rally car was also shown in at the end of last month. We don’t know how many of the four track layouts this area will feature in, but we can see that this part which is made up of cobbled streets and surrounded by homes is before the longish narrow high-speed section. [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="6574,6575,6576] Through only still images it is difficult to get a sense of how a course runs, and so thankfully, Massarutto has added some videos to his page. Rushing through at high-speed with a Ferrari 488 GTB, the small clip provides an idea of the challenges and thrills that can be expected at this point. var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.8&appId=159301820896907"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk')); " data-width="auto" data-show-text="false"> Some classic racers were also visible in the images shared. The best view of the “Highlands” track was in the latest video where we see a much longer video of Massarutto threading the 488 GTB (he REALLLY likes this car) through the opposing racers, racing cleanly and speedily as he aims to make it from last place all the way to first. " data-width="auto" data-show-text="false"> With very little space to run off the road. The edges are littered with rocks sitting close to the painted white lines and there are objects dotted along that will cause your vehicle damage or even end your race. The new track is expected in “late February” and will be available as free bonus content for all platforms. Whether they will all get the content at the same time is something we will have to wait and see. Assetto Corsa is OUT NOW on PC (Steam), PS4 and Xbox One.
  5. Free Audi Quattro S1 Group B The end of year look back posted by Marco Massarutto on the official blog gave us insight into some of the free bonus content that would be coming to Assetto Corsa in the new year, with a number of vehicles and a new circuit being mentioned within the text. Amazingly, despite all the free stuff that is talked about in that blog post, we learn from Massarutto via a posting on his Facebook, that the Audi Quattro S1 Group B rally car is another item of them and that it is due for a February release. We are also treated to 3 in-game images where we can view the stunning detail in the recreation of the car, including one that gives us a good view of the interior and the multitude of switches and buttons that cover it. As is typically the case, the model is looking to be of the high standard we have come to expect from Kunos Simulazioni. [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="6551,6552,6553] These images also provide us with more looks at the fictional Scottish track that is upcoming and will be free to download too. More information and media on this environment and what it contains should be forthcoming and being a Scot myself, I cannot wait to see what challenges and beauty await players in this location. As an aside, Massarutto brilliantly lays into the previous moaners within the community by apologising in advance that the next free bonus content will not be a SUV. This sharp little dig was made because of those super-entitled players who voiced outrage and displeasure that the free Porsches being given consisted of SUVs. We’re sure many won’t be complaining too much about this freebie, though it does make us wonder if this rally car will be getting a rally playground or something else where it can really unleash its potential? Just need to wait and see I guess.
  6. Porsche Pack Volume III As the end of 2016 approaches at dizzying speeds, it will also bring the end of the known Porsche Packs to Assetto Corsa, as the third and final one of Porsche Pack Volume 3 will release for PC on December 20th. We have known about what will be in these packs since their details appeared on Steam way back in October, in a way spoiling the surprise of the teasing that Kunos Simulazioni are so very good at. Nonetheless, the images that do get posted showing the in-game examples out on the tracks and road layouts within the game are always great to see, and are usually taken in an exciting and non-boring manner. This latest batch has a couple of pics that are of no exception to that. With a top-down helicopter-esque view of a 911 GT3 Cup 2017 or the awesome view as a 908 LH carries so much speed over a crest that it catches some sweet air. Porsche Pack Volume 3 - Contents 911 GT3 Cup 2017 911 GT3 RSR 2017 911 GT3 R 2015 919 Hybrid 2016 908 LH 917 K 911 R As with the other two previous packs, it will be time for another free Porsche. The Porsche Macan will be the final of the trio that was promised for the game and will join the Porsche Panamera G2 and Porsche Cayenne that came before it at no cost. PS4 players have only recently gotten their taste of Porsche Pack Volume 1, while those on Xbox One are still waiting for theirs, and yet here is the PC about to get the last of the three packs. Cwazy! Regardless, the coming of more Porsche is something that many an Assetto Corsa fan will be eager to sample and as the old saying goes: ‘’good things come to those who wait”. Now if only we could get Porsche out there and into more games, that would be a nice present for many racing fans. Porsche Pack Volume 3 is out on December 20th on Steam for PC and will be out for PS4 and Xbox One probably some time in 2017.
  7. Pure Porsche Excellence With a week to go until Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack Volume 2 is released for the PC version of Assetto Corsa, Marco Massarutto has been at it again in just casually dropping images of some of the contents of the pack on his own Facebook page. The first Porsche pack was quite something to behold when images were shown of it before its release but these latest shots are on another level due to the cars that are in them. Real Porsche pedigree is on display with the 911 GT1, 919 Hybrid 2015, 911 GT3 RS and the classic 718 Spyder RS all getting their own images but the one that really catches your attention – or at least it did mine – is the group shot of the 3 racecars of the 911 GT1, 919 Hybrid 2015 and the 962c all together on track. This image alone will sell the game to people as that is like a holy trinity in itself. Two cars are missing from these showings though: the 718 Boxster S and the Cayman GT4, however we get the feeling that they will grace us with their presence in not too long if past showcases is anything to go by. UPDATE://1 - Marco posted this brilliant shot of the 718 Spyder RS and the 718 Boxster S side-by-side. Quite a difference in size in the more than 50 years between them. Assetto Corsa – Porsche Pack Volume 2 Contents Porsche 911 GT3 RS Porsche 718 Spyder RS Porsche Cayman GT4 Porsche 718 Boxster S Manual Transmission Porsche 718 Boxster S PDK Porsche 919 Hybrid 2015 Porsche 911 GT1 Porsche 962c Long Tail Porsche 962c Short Tail The PS4 and Xbox One are still waiting for Porsche Pack Volume 1 and it is coming but wow it would be mighty annoying to have the second Porsche pack drop before the console even gets the first. Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack Volume II is due to release on November 22ndvia Steam for PC. Don’t forget that you can buy the Porsche Season Pass (also available on console) and enjoy a saving of 28% on buying the three packs individually. UPDATE://1 - Posted November 15th, 2016 @ 17:03 pm GMT
  8. Can Never Have Too Much Alfa The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (just rolls off the tongue) is coming to Assetto Corsa in 2017, Marco Massarutto has revealed. Posting the news as a way to cheer up everyone in the world, he shared the news on his Facebook page about the latest piece of metal to be officially licensed for the game. Not only an aggressive beauty to look at, the Alfa GQ has a powerplant underneath its bonnet/hood that was born to sit there and is in fact derived from the Ferrari California. Producing a whopping 505bhp from the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6, this engine propels the Italian marque's answer to the BMW M3 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 3.9 seconds and carries it on towards a top speed of 307 km/h (190mph), and all from the rear wheels. Alfa Romeo are already in the game so it is not as if this announcement is a total surprise but hearing that Kunos are still signing up new cars is good to hear and should provide some assurance to its playerbase that support, is still very much on the agenda into the new year. One thing that can easily be deduced from all the media and reviews of this car is, that it is a lot of fun and a real drivers car. Maybe not having the nimbleness in the steering as a BMW but still on par with what BMW and their M division have been kicking out for so long. When you look at it this way, what Alfa Romeo have achieved with this car is quite remarkable.
  9. Porsche Pack Teasing - Take 2 The Assetto Corsa team are clearly back to work (read: sober) after the celebrations of the release of the first Porsche Pack, which became available for PC through Steam last week and comes to console some time in November. Moving the volume dial up to 2 (see what I did there?), firm favourite for divulging the goods about anything to do with the game is Licensing Project Manager, Marco Massarutto and fantastically he is at it again. Posting up new teaser images on his Facebook that show the interiors of some of the Porsche cars that will come in Porsche Pack Volume 2. In the first of these we can see a classic racer complete with racing goggles sitting square and true in a 718 Spyder RS 60, kept firmly in place with the help of a racing harness. The next set encompasses some of the best known of Porsche racing in recent times: that blue ‘PORSCHE’ text against the white banner and that dashboard can be nothing else but the 962c, the vents on the bonnet/hood and that mirror position spells out 911 GT1 and the wires all over the place and lashings of carbon fibre scream out 919 Hybrid – which we know* is the 2015 edition because of the listing on Steam. *It helps that Marco also posted the names of the cars with each image which I did not see!! Assetto Corsa – Porsche Pack Volume 2 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Porsche 718 Spyder RS Porsche Cayman GT4 Porsche 718 Boxster S Manual Transmission Porsche 718 Boxster S PDK Porsche 919 Hybrid 2015 Porsche 911 GT1 Porsche 962c Long Tail Porsche 962c Short Tail Is it possible to get excited about what the pack will contain if we already know? Well yes as with each image shown from in-game we get an idea of what to expect and can analyse the details for ourselves, building up the anticipation for the day when we will get to try them out on our own machines. Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack Volume 2 is likely to release on November 22nd for PC on Steam with the consoles again to come sometime afterwards. [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="small-post-image" ids="5760,5763,5761,5762] [via Facebook]
  10. Assetto Corsa - Porsche Pack 1 After so many months of constant teasing, general winking smilies and a blurred group shot from Marco Massarutto on his Facebook, a release for the first Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack is known!! Coming on October 25th to Steam and shortly afterwards on PS4 and Xbox One - whenever Sony and Microsoft approve it - the first of the much-anticipated Porsche packs will contain 7 top models from those of today and yesteryear. Purchasers of the pack will be able to sample in the delights of the legend that is the iconic 911, in the manner of how it is available today, to the absolutely insane 917/30 Can-Am racer. And that purchase is incredibly reasonable too, as the pack itself will set players back a respectable sum of only 6.99 EUR across all platforms. I've said this before and it's true, it would have been so easy for Kunos Simulazioni to overcharge for the pack and it is refreshing to see a developer price their content at a value more befitting of what is being provided to that of which came with the game originally. In fact they even go one step further, and are offering a Season Pack for the 3 Porsche Packs at a discounted price of only 15 EUR, a 28% saving on buying them all separately. For someone who is not a fan of DLC at stupid prices I cannot help but applaud Kunos for this approach and hope that it is hugely rewarded by the playerbase. Porsche Pack Volume 1 - Contents 911 Carrera S 935 Moby Dick 918 Spyder Cayman GT4 Clubsport 718 Cayman S 917/30 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 1974 And even for those out there who don’t buy DLC, they will still get a chance to partake in the Porsche party because of the three models that are coming for FREE. And again because of Mr Massarutto, we know that the first of these to come will be the Panamera.
  11. Porsche Pack Volume 1 An image has been posted showing what will come in the first Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack and at first glance it’s a bit hard to see what’s so good about it. Not because the pack is crap or anything, no not at all, but because the vehicles in the image posted by Marco Massarutto on his own Facebook are all lined-up together and softly blurred, making us have to work a little to figure out what they are. Enthusiasts or even a quick Google search of ‘Porsche’ and ‘Porsche – because – racecar' will no doubt give evidence to fairly easily help identify the legends and the current hero hypercar of the Stuttgart based automaker. One Hypercar, two GT cars, one GTR car, three historical race cars. To make everyone happy. - Marco Massarutto via Facebook What is a bit more difficult is deciphering the more known shapes that are common to the models of today. However with a bit of image-enhancing CSI style (with everything being done making a beep of course) I was able to enhance the image about 1.7% which aided me better in being able to be approximately 97.999999% DNA matc... sure of my findings about the cars being shown. Looking at the image and starting at the left: the first car is quite clearly a Porsche 935/78 'Moby Dick' in Momo Kreepy Krauly colours whereas the second car is more modern and due to the blue sticker on the front and yellow markings on the rear quarter it is assuredly the Cayman GT4 Clubsport. The third car is a bit of a tough one, it certainly looks to be a 911 (991.2) and we do know from previous images that this is forthcoming and it obviously makes sense for Porsche to want one of their modern icons to be featured so this is what I am going with. Phwoar is the case for four as it is no doubt the 918 Spyder hypercar, five is so much the same as #3 however it is likely a 718 but whether that is of a Cayman or Boxster I just cannot be completely sure of. It might even be the road-going Cayman GT4 as this is seen in the original announcement trailer above. Six is a Porschephile's heaven as it is the legend that is the Carrera RSR 3.0, this thing should be a barrel (roll?) load of fun due to its feisty handling, and last but certainly in no way at all least is the crazy looking 917/30 Can-Am racer. So for the tl;dr of you here is my belief of what the first of the two three packs will contain: Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack Volume 1 Going from left to right. Porsche 935/78 ‘Moby Dick’ Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport Porsche 911 Carrera S (991.2) Porsche 918 Spyder Porsche Cayman/Boxster 718/Cayman GT4 (not sure between these) Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 Porsche 917/30 And don't forget the free Cayenne, Macan and Panamera which were announced too!
  12. Free Porsche! The team behind Assetto Corsa continue to tease about the upcoming Porsche pack and if there is one word we hardly ever hear in respect to downloadable ‘Porsche’ content, it is ‘free’. With Kunos Simulazioni though, this is in fact what is happening as by way of Marco Massarutto, the Licensing Manager at Kunos responding to a question on twitter last week, it has been revealed that there will be a Porsche Panamera, Porsche Cayenne and Porsche Macan given away at no cost! https://twitter.com/Markus72k/status/780301766638374912 If above not available click for screencap Of course there will be some who will see this trio as not being true Porsches but they are certainly some of the most popular and best selling. And as PC players have known for a while and those on console have recently found out, big heavy vehicles like the Maserati Levante SUV can be quite fun to toss around at high speeds. The Porsche pack is very likely to be out this month (October) and will contain a number of cars not often seen in games along with the more common beetles.
  13. Porsche Packed It is of no wonder that Kunos seem to be enjoying teasing their community with the frequent release of new media and comments in regards to the Assetto Corsa Porsche pack. Over the past few weeks they have dropped images showing what is known as the ‘Holy Trinity’’ – consisting of the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. This super treble of hypercars is seen as the peak of automotive excellence today. There have also been images of the 991 Carrera S, the rear light of a Boxster 718 and a real world example shown of the 935/78 'Moby Dick' along with an exciting sharing of Porsche Motorsport’s tweet about the new 911 GT3 Cup car. In all there is looking to be a total of 24 Porsches to come over the two three packs, which is a fine amount and will also see some of the lesser known examples hitting the virtual tarmac for the first in a long time or for the first time ever in an official capacity. Being that Assetto Corsa was noticed by Porsche and then asked to create an environment in which to showcase their vehicles virtually, it is a massive gold star to the team and sets up a perfect pairing for sim-racing fans. For once players on all current platforms will be able to partake in the joy of a simulation racer that contains the best that Porsche offered in the past and does so today. Let's just hope the cost of it is reasonable.
  14. P1 More McLaren for Assetto CorsaIf a facebook post by Kunos Simulazioni 'Licensing Project Manager' Marco Massarutto is anything to go by, then it looks like we can safely assume that the McLaren P1 hypercar will be appearing in their PC sim-racer Assetto Corsa (AC) as part of their McLaren licensing deal. One for often posting 'Work in Progress' shots and teases of the game and its contents on his Timeline, the image is one of the most recent to appear with just a simple "Yes, it is.".In good company McLaren's flagship will be too, as with the recent unveiling of the Ferrari LaFerrari, there is plenty of supercar royalty, hatches and classics for its players to choose from and that's only the official offerings, there will be gajillions more via modding! Hopefully the days of these extreme machines being only available in certain games is coming to an end, and now all we need is for Assetto Corsa to show they have Porsche and people's heads could literally explode! Here's a video players may be able to recreate in the game due to a Laser-scanned Nurburgring Nordschleife coming in the 'Dream Pack' DLC later in 2014.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9IWiTpWeiM Thanks Facebook
