  1. Project CARS 2 Demo Out Now! There is now a Project CARS 2 demo available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. With all the fantastic racing titles available at the moment, there is a real chance this one was missed and so, Slightly Mad Studios want you to try it out, hoping that you will add it your racing catalogue. Not able to command as big a draw as the Sony and Microsoft mainstays of Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport, the sequel to the community-funded original went bigger than most expected. Rallycross, IndyCar and Oval motorsport classes made their way in, along with improved weather, with snow and icy conditions providing even more of a hazard for players to deal with. A reworked physics engine and better handling for controller and pad users has made its way into the game although general feeling is that the best is gotten out of it with a nice wheel setup, as let’s be honest, should be the case. The Official Project CARS 2 Demo was designed and created to allow players to get a taste of the variety of racing action on offer in the full game, and to experience for themselves why Project CARS 2 is one of the highest rated multi-platform racing games of the year. Jump into a Ferrari 488 GT3, Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4, and Formula Renault 3.5, all in action at the laser-scanned Red Bull Ring in two configurations. The demo allows players to take control of three very different vehicles in which they can sample how the game portrays the difference in characteristics between a road-going Lamborghini supercar, Ferrari GT circuit racer, and an open-wheel Formula Renault. To make this even clearer to see, all the racing action takes place at the laser-scanned Red Bull Ring. The three scenarios in the demo will test players with escalating challenges, allowing them to experience class-leading physics in various cars and varying conditions, and give them a taste of what there is to be experienced in the full game. Lucky enough to have snapped up the Xbox One X and/or are in the possession of a PS4 Pro? Well the improvements that are heading to those two will be showcased in the demo when running on those machines. The Project CARS 2 demo download is out now! (search for 'project cars 2' on console and click here for Steam PC) [via Projectcarsgame.com] [gallery type=rectangular" link="file" size="seven-post-image" ids="7452,7454,7453,7456,7455]
  2. Project CARS 2 – VR ‘Driver Eye’ Videos The media is pouring out from those who are lucky enough to be involved in the development of Project CARS 2 and YouTube user beetesjuice is one of the best I have found doing so through these ‘Driver Eye’ videos. Sharing with us the footage of the runs they have engaged in with their sim-racer enthusiast setup, complete with racing wheel and VR, we first see them fight hard to try and control a wild Lamborghini Diablo GTR against a hard-fighting AI opponent at Oulton Park. Being a massive Diablo fan it is only natural that this one would grab me and I might be showing bias because of that, however turn up your volume and just watch and you will see why I picked this one out first. Because as I am a big fan of touring cars and DTM – especially those in the 90s – it was a delight to find this next one, as it contains so many icons of the times and legends of the series that it just felt like watching some of those old races again. I could honestly fill this page up with these videos but I am going to restrain myself and only post a few. Last of which is this race with a Toyota GT-One at Daytona Road, where the main fight is amongst a Ferrari F50 GT trio. The AI appear more confident on this track than the driver we are watching but over the time of the race you can see the confidence rising, as the daylight fades. There’s even more of these on the beetesjuice channel which if you like what you see here, I highly recommend you go and check out. Project CARS 2 is out for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on September 22nd, 2017.
  3. Project CARS 2 Special Editions Are Pretty Special In today’s gaming space, special editions and pre-order bonuses are fairly routine and let’s be honest, not that special at all. There are some exceptions to this but generally it’s run-of-the-mill cheap extras that are usually provided. This is not the case at all with Project CARS 2. As rather fitting for a team called Slightly Mad Studios, they and Bandai Namco (shoutout to Lee ‘Pizza and Games’ Kirton!) have revealed the various special editions that are going to be available. Showing a high degree of respect towards their fans, the lowest version of these, called the 'Limited Edition', will be the same price as the Standard copy and will include the game (O RLY?!), steelbook case, stickers!, and an exclusive ‘Japanese Cars Pack’ that comes with four models from those of Honda and Nissan. A step up from that is the ‘Collector’s Edition’. This is where the cool stuff starts to come in, as inside the very nice looking Collector’s Edition Box there is everything that the 'Limited Edition' has as well as a Season Pass Download Code that entitles holders to the non-purchaseable ‘The Motorsport Pack’, a 200 Page Art Book, some Esport Live VIP Pass that gets you preferential treatment at real-world events, and an awesome looking 1:43 scale diecast McLaren 720S, in one-off SMS-R Stealth Satin. However, for as incredible as the ‘Collector’s Edition’ is, there is one other, and it is rightly called the ‘Ultra Edition’. Limited to only 1000 copies, this is the dog’s dangly bits of special editions, as contained within its Ultra Edition Box is the game, steelbook case, stickers!, DLC, Season Pass, Esports VIP thing and the Art Book from those above. And as good as all that is, we now reach a whole other level, as on top of all that, there is an individually numbered cap and a McLaren 720S sketchbook. This details the development and design of the car itself, with never-before-seen sketches, models, clays and renders, giving readers an in-depth look at how McLaren’s new supercar came to be. Wait is that it? I hear you say. What about that sweet little model the Collector’s get? Well dear reader I have left the best to last, as there is a model in this one but it’s not a cool little 1:43 scale version, instead for your major purchase, you get a 1:12 scale version!! The majority of people have probably seen 1:18 scale models for the most part in shops and perhaps in car showrooms, and even model collectors tend to prefer this size (yep, I do) due to the price to size ratio, and so a model car this size is absolutely nuts! But it is also phenomenal too, as this thing looks soooooo good. The satin black and orange colour scheme really is striking. And so if you are not loaded enough to put in an order for the real machine, well then this could be the next best thing. It will cost a pretty penny but for a change, it does actually look like you will get a good amount of worth for your hard-earned moolah. With E3 on the way and the halfway point of the year approaching fast, a release date other than LATE 2017, should be heading our way in the very near future. Project CARS 2 is due out before the end of 2017 and will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. [via Projectcarsgame.com]
  4. [headline]Project CARS 2 goes early[/headline] Well what do you think about this? Project CARS was only released in May remember and now we have an official announcement of the next one. Now of course this isn't a shut up shop on pCARS and let's get busy on pCARS 2 only but the timing of the news is very unlike the norm, even if we all know that a lot of sequels start their planning and pre-production shortly before a games release or a small time afterwards. What do you think of this and what do you want to see them bring to pCARS 2 that they didn't or won't with pCARS? No year for release for the next one, but with all the groundwork essentially done it could more than likely do a Forza Motorsport (maybe a Gran Turismo one?) sort of development turnaround. Sauce: Announcing Project CARS 2! - Project CARS
  5. Project CARS now FREE on Xbox One Xbox Live Gold subscribers can now pick up Project CARS for free for their Xbox One as part of the monthly ‘Games with Gold’ program. Starting Feb 16th through to March 15th. This giveaway was revealed before the sequel was officially announced earlier this month, and is the perfect way to get players to try out the brand for themselves with the intention of hooking their interest in the progress of the new game, currently due to be released in late 2017. Players of the game have had quite a turbulent experience since its initial release, resulting in the title having its haters as well as its fans. Nevertheless, after several updates and some support being provided throughout this bumpy period, it now provides a respectable alternative within the console sim-racing genre. A racing wheel is highly recommended, as controller handling has never been much of a strong point with the game, however if you can make it work for you – and there are plenty of suggestions of settings to use out there – then you might just find it becoming another of your go-to racers. With the sequel around the corner, we have every reason to expect they might have ironed out these handling bugs. If you have Xbox Live Gold then we definitely recommend you give Project CARS a go, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain as it will cost you nothing, and you might find it quickly becoming one of your favourite racing games. Just a warning that starting off with the go-karts may sour your initial impressions, so we recommend that you go for something else. That is unless you really want to start from the bottom and make your way up.
  6. Project CARS² After being teased by the numerous leaks and unofficial mutterings over the past few months, we are finally getting our first official look at Project CARS 2! ‘Difficult Second Album’ syndrome doesn’t seem to apply to pCARS2, with the trailer showing that it is improving on the high benchmark set by its predecessor. Other studios should be concerned with just how much Slightly Mad Studios are planning to include in this game, they are without a doubt living up to their name. The game will arrive sometime in late 2017 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The Trailer: In the video we are shown features such as day to night, fully dynamic weather including snow and icy conditions, and so many vehicles that it is clear pCARS2 will have much more than what the original offered. The accompanying info below the video states that there will be “over 170 licensed cars” and that it will have the “largest track roster ever on console” which is a huge increase over the pCARS1 inventory of vehicles and a strong statement to make in regards to the amount of circuits. Being a technical showcase, support for 12K and VR is also a given and no doubt will be shown in all its glory on some snazzy new Panasonic gear. (that deal is still in place right?) Because of fan feedback, eSports and player championships have also been given a boost and will see some excellent features ensuring that pCARS2 is the go-to game for those who want to run these events. A multitude of new locations can be seen, such as an ice circuit set within a snowy wilderness however the traditional tracks such as the Nurburgring and Brands Hatch are still present. Rest assured that the new Ice Circuit will push the traction of whatever you choose to drive to the limit! New vehicles are also a given, with the Aston Martin Vulcan, new Honda NSX and a green wheeled Ford F150 being a few examples highlighted in the trailer’s footage. And if rumours are true, Lamborghini, Porsche and Ferrari could make an appearance. Previously, it was easy to excuse Porsche due to the EA exclusivity agreement, but Lamborghini and Ferrari were sorely missed from the first game and so fingers crossed that pCARS2 remedies this. It is looking more promising for Porsche though as that stupid exclusivity deal is finally dead as of the end of last year. All in all this game is shaping up very nicely and appears even at this early stage to be deserving of its ‘Ultimate Driver Journey’ tagline. If they can nail all that they have already shown and keep the game running smoothly and stable with less of the bugs and problems that the first one occasionally suffered from, then they could very well smash the opposition. 7. Project Pagani CARS In light of the news that Project CARS had sold over 2 million copies comes the surprise announcement that a free edition is available now on Steam: Project CARS - Pagani Edition. This heavily streamlined version of the Slightly Mad Studios developed sim-racer features all five of the Pagani models that can be found in the main game and provides players with three tracks to race them on: the full Nürburgring layout of the 24Hour event (yay!), the Monza Grand Prix circuit and the in-house created paradisical Azure Coast. Out of the five Paganis available in this edition, 3 of them are variations of the Zonda, including the undeniably outrageous track-only Zonda R, with the other 2 being of the current Huayra model, one of which is the more hardcore Huayra BC. With full VR ability on both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive plus – as Panasonic liked to show us often – glorious 4K display support, the PC version has always been a showcase product for many a brand and it is obvious why when a glimpse is made of the game running on quality settings. For those who have held out on buying, this is the perfect opportunity to see what they may have missed and perhaps might even sway them into becoming customers of the full game. And should they decide to do so then they can use the turboduck liveried RUF, designed by Milli, that tduck – and former staff – member Ryzza5 generously allowed us to use as part of the perks he received for the level he funded the project at. Probably would have made sense to offer a nice discount on the game to coincide with the release of this though SMS… no? Source: Slightly Mad Studios
  8. Project CARS 2Million! Crowd-funded sim-racer Project CARS has now sold over 2 million copies Slightly Mad Studios have announced. A long time in the making and the first game that really ventured into getting ordinary people to dip into their own pockets in order to not only fund, but also to help shape the title into the vision both the developer and community had in mind, was an interesting one to watch. There was a few of us here at turboduck who participated in contributing to this project and despite a number initially jumping in for the originally touted Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, the change to the newer consoles was a tough one to swallow, but ultimately was the right one. And yes it has had its fair share of bumps along the road and certainly has its haters too. The Xbox One version in particular has suffered with performance issues and bugs, however for the most part, on PC and PS4 it is still one of the best games out there for racing fans. The multi-million sales of Project CARS validates not only our revolutionary racing simulation, but also our unique World of Mass Development platform. From the onset, we believed that our groundbreaking way of funding games, alongside our commitment to working with our customers and listening to what they wanted from a racing simulation, would push us in the right direction.” - Ian Bell, CEO at Slightly Mad Studios Hearing that the game has broken past the 2 million barrier is great to hear and bodes well for the sequel that is currently in development, this time with a different funding practice n place but still along the same lines as the previous in getting normal people involved. With the added competition from Assetto Corsa and the Forza series ever striving to reach new heights in what it delivers – and of course now being made for PC too – Project CARS 2 will find itself in a tough fight for the attentions of racing enthusiasts. Hell, maybe Gran Turismo Sport will turn out to be better than just a typical GT game and be another rival to contend with. Source: Slightly Mad Studios Hat tip to Ryzza5 for originally informing us of this.
  9. Project CARS Free April DLC Project CARS in April will see the Mercedes-AMG GT3 come to players for free later this month, and the GT3-class racer will be the only DLC offering for the game by Slightly Mad Studios for the month. We had already been treated to a number of teases of the vehicle last month, but thanks to the game's official twitter we know that it is now due out on April 15th. This latest Mercedes GT3 racer made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015 as the successor to the mighty SLS GT3, which is already in the game. Chances are you may already have sat behind the virtual steering wheel or virtual carbon wing (you third person drivers) of this car, as is typical in racing games, the car has appeared in a number of other titles such as Assetto Corsa and the PS4 exclusive, DRIVECLUB. Nevertheless you can't have too much of a good thing and with each game having its own spin on how the car performs and handles, it should be fun to run some laps and compare. Project CARS is out now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
  10. Project CARS 365 Days Later In what you might call a feat of cunning brilliance, Slightly Mad Studios have decided on the release date for the recently announced Project CARS 'Game of the Year' Edition as being May 6th 2016. Why do we applaud them for this? Well the original release was back on May 7th 2015, and February of this year was a leap year, therefore the 'GOTY' edition is releasing a year later. Ah yes, now you get it! You can just imagine the meeting where the discussion about the date is being held and one of the team utters 'uhh... why don't we just release it a year later?'. Common sense prevails and give that person a raise I say! Project CARS depending on who you talk to, what reviews on which platform you read and whose videos you check out on Youtube is well loved or patially loathed. However it's not critically acclaimed for no reason and racing fans do enjoy having another racer amongst the ranks of the usual offerings - especially those on console. The post content support has also been well diversified and fairly priced. The free stuff hasn't been the dregs left at the bottom of the developer's computers either; shown with the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG GT3 that will be the freebie of the next update to pCARS' 'On Demand' program. As is customary with an edition like this, all the content released for the original game is included along with extras: The Game of the Year Edition is a celebration and a thank you to the racing community around the world. Featuring all the elements of the original core experience, the Game of the Year Edition also includes an additional: 50+ cars (125 total), 4 tracks (35 unique locations, 100+ layouts total), 60+ community-created liveries, plus two special and exclusive items... The iconic Nurburgring Combined Nordschieife + GP circuit Two Project CARS exclusive vehicles from Pagani – the Zonda Revolucion and Huayra BC unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show Project CARS 'Game of the Year' Edition will be out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 6th 2016. Source: Project CARS
  11. Project CARS March DLC The teasing of what is to come next to Project CARS this March has started with some images being posted on the official instagram of the game. The first of these shows an outside the window shot from "the next free car", which seemingly from some noticeable clues such as the door and mirror shape, door opener, yellow pullover fabric strap and probably the most telling - the AMG branding on the bottom, signals that this will be the oft-rumoured Mercedes-AMG GT3 finally making its appearance. Next up is something we only recently learned about due to the announcement of the Project CARS Game of the Year Edition coming out this Spring. And if this next car is what we believe it to be then it's a real gem of an offering as despite them trying their best to conceal it, there's one image available online (thanks GTspirit) where working out what it is becomes easy and this is because it shows off all the branding the car had on it before it was removed for some reason. It is this edition that SMS appears to have recreated for the game when modelling the Pagani Zonda Revolucion. It's entirely possible that the March DLC will be that of what is to come with the GOTY edition, along with the addition of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 to keep up the 'a free car every month' that has become commonplace. There was talk of March's DLC being a "track pack" and two of them being mentioned but maybe this was just a cloak and dagger way of keeping the Nürburgring GP + Nordschleife guessing away.
  12. Sport the turboduck A number of us here on turboduck backed the crowd-funded Slighty Mad Studios project that ended up as Project CARS, and one of those 'us' in particular was Ryzza. With more money than sense he became a Manager and this entitled him to have his own advertising board (it's on Brands Hatch) and car livery in the finished game. And incredibly he gave this honour to us! Back in 2014 in a select area of our community there were talks and discussions going on where the conceptualising of a vision was taking place, and the one bringing the suggestions and imaginings of those talks to digital life was Milli - a graphics/product designer who naturally took to the task like a turboduck takes to goat washing. (that means really well) The initial decision was for the type of car to have the livery shown on and there were many opinions voiced, starting off with a BMW Z4 that was quickly dismissed due to already being used by some, then it was a flurry of proposals for those not even in the game and then somehow Ry started playing with a RUF. And despite some initial reservations and the solo mentioning of using a 'beetle' this was the car we started to take seriously for the task. Within a short time concepts started to show, as Milli using her talent would take what we were picturing and describing to greater heights, continuing to impress us with every update she dropped. As the game's development progressed, more and more vehicles became available to use for 'painting' and with it being Ry's perk, the ultimate final decision on which car we go with would be down to him entirely. Through the gentle persuasion of others, the choosing to swap to an Aston Martin was made, and from then it was all about that car. This was fine and again Milli did her magic, making the livery fit onto the Aston and it was looking good. Unfortunately right at the death of submission, a slight issue reared its head, only found when one of the latest builds was downloaded and it was discovered that, shall we say the proper livery we all had come up with was... tweaked. And that was it, it was done for all we knew. Jump forward to this month with the US Racecar Pack and the update alongside it becoming available and the original vision is properly out there for all platforms and players to raise their eyebrows at. Realise our delight as we picture the confused expressions forming on faces as they ponder what the hell is 'goat washing since 2007' and who on earth are the Squirrel Mafia and why do they appear to own a security firm. What once we thought had been lost has arisen and come back! Thank-you Ryzza, Milli and SMS for allowing this to happen!! Accompanying the turboduck RUF is also a BAC Mono in our SEVEN colours. SEVEN is the name of our current style you can see on our site and forum with the red, white and blue colour scheme. The turboduck imagery doesn't end there either: we also have a very small logo on the #98 Ginetta G55 GT4, put there by our very own superhyper who designed that one. And lastly as mentioned very briefly above, we also have our mascot and name emblazoned on an advertising boarding on the Brands Hatch circuit. Why not see if you can find it? [gallery link=file" ids="4378,4379,4380,4381,4368,4369,4370,4371,4375,4374,4376,4377]
  13. Project CARS Of The Year Project CARS has had a decent impact on the racing genre since its release, taking the fight to Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo and giving those on PC yet another sim-racer they need to find time to play with amongst their Assetto Corsa, iRacing etc. Looking glorious on the PC has always been an easy selling point for the game, and with the proper wheel support and providing the consoles a more simulation based racer compared to the usual offerings the title has done well in introducing itself and giving others something to think about. It's had its problems sure and it's not had the best PR due to some of the more outspoken members of the team but you cannot deny that the post-release content support by way of their On Demand program and its pricing has been anything short of rather good. For the cost of a typical DLC Pack from the others you could grab yourself 2 or even 3 of those for pCARS and the assortment provided with them caters to a far-reaching audience, from the GT racers to the mad for it Drifters. The free stuff was pretty damn good too it has to be said. If however you have held out this long in grabbing the title, or have actually been waiting for what is now becoming the inevitable Game of the Year/Complete/SUPER AWESOME CHICKEN NUGGETS edition to drop, then get ready to scream in delight stingy, as it's coming in the Spring! Comprising of all the content and updates released for the game so far, the GOTY edition will also include 2 new monsters from the stables of Horatio Pagani: the Pagani Huayra BC that was only recently shown in Geneva and the road-going even more extreme version of the phenomenal Zonda R, the Zonda Revolucion. As for the tarmac faithful, the news that the combined Nürburgring Nordschieife + GP circuit will be showing itself is likely to go down well. Project CARS GOTY Edition Contents Featuring all the elements that made the original core experience a runaway success, the Game of the Year Edition will add even more to what is already the definitive racing sim: An additional 50+ cars (125 total) 4 tracks (35 unique locations, 100+ layouts total) 60+ community-created liveries 500+ features and improvements that have been added since launch In addition, the Game Of The Year Edition will feature two distinctive and exclusive items: The iconic Nurburgring Combined Nordschieife + GP circuit Two Project CARS exclusive vehicles from Pagani – the Zonda Revolucion and Huayra BC unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show Despite how it all sounds from above the additional new content is not only accessible to those who buy a full copy of this new addition. That would be completely unfair to those who already have done and continue to support the game, so it is reassuring to know that all of that stuff will be available for existing owners too, as was clarified by the game's official twitter account. Project CARS Game of the Year Edition will be available in Spring 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
  14. Project CARS February DLC out in March Please bear with me a second while I smash my head off the desk. *WHACK* All right, over the past few days we have provided information on what the next Car Pack for Project CARS would be and delivered the media and release dates seen from trusted sources. So it's really annoying (in a funny way) that today it has been announced that the - whatever! final name out of 'US Car Pack' or 'US Racecar Pack' they choose - DLC for February will be out now on March 1st, due to making sure that Patch 9.0 will be "out on all platforms before the Pack [is out]". It's only another week to wait from the original date so not a huge issue, unless of course you have to return to your home planet on Feb 29th or something. In which case, sorry. Source: Project CARS twitter
  15. USA! USA! USA! Update: Feb 20th - This DLC Car Pack has now been delayed to March 1st. Update: Feb 19th - The actual name is the US Racecar Pack and a teaser video was posted in the early hours (GMT) of this morning. Update: Feb 18th - The muppet that I am talked about the Ford Fusion Stockcar and yet FORGOT to put it in the contents list. So yeah it's obviously there! More images and information have come out about this months DLC for Project CARS. We knew it was going to be a "car pack" and we've seen the teaser pics and some of the shared screens from the official Project CARS forum, but now we have a date of release. Thanks to the official IndyCar twitter account who tweeted earlier today, the 'US Car Pack' as it looks to be called will be coming on February 23rd for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Shortly afterwards, the Ford Performance account also got in on the act by tweeting about being able to "drive the 2016 Ford Fusion Stockcar in your living room" next week with a screenshot containing a very purple car leading a pack. At this time we haven't seen anything from Cadillac but chances are they will do one too. And the speculation that the free car for the month would be an Aston Martin turned out to be correct, with official images being shown on the official forums of the Aston Martin GT12 by Ed 'Cinematics & Video' Mas who also spoke about having a "short clip up later today". Project CARS: US Racecar Pack DLC Teaser Video Car Packs have usually followed a 4 Premium vehicles included besides a free offering, but this one might be one short, or are Slightly Mad Studios keeping something back? Honestly, we'd say it's probably best to think not and be surprised if so. 16. Ammazzinngg Race! The people at Slightly Mad Studios have been teasing their fans again about their upcoming DLC releases on their Instagram and the official Project CARS forums. And from what they've shown, it looks like the February DLC pack will concentrate on American vehicles. So far, we've seen pictures of a Corvette C7.R GTE, Chevrolet's Le Mans winning beast, a Cadillac ATS-V.R (am I seeing a theme in the naming department here?), which is Cadillac's GT3-spec racer they used for the 2015 season in the Pirelli World Challenge series, an Indycar, which looks to be the Dallara DW12 and to top it all off, a Ford Fusion Nascar racer. The GT cars will fit in nicely as the GT field in Project CARS is one of the, if not the very biggest available right now (outside modding of course) and the ability to fill up your own Indycar grid with the Dallara or do a Nascar race with a grid full of Fusions is something that will not only excite those fans in the USA, but also perhaps bring a taste of these motorsports to those who may have ignored or even joked about them. There is a problem though, a BIG problem with delivering an accurate representation of the latter two and that is the lack of oval tracks in the game. Back in the early days several ovals were originally planned for Project CARS but they've disappeared silently: According to Ian Bell, oval tracks are "still somewhat up in the air" due to problems with the AI system. Most likely scenario will be that we'll be seeing them in Project CARS 2 instead. In any case, those cars do race on road courses too, so they should provide you with plenty of fun and yet another series or few of vehicles to master. In addition to the DLC package itself, SMS will also give us our monthly free DLC car. In February, the free car looks to be the Aston Martin Vantage GT12: only 100 of these GT3-inspired monsters have been made in real life, so chances are that you didn't get your hands on one. But not to worry, you'll be getting your hands on it in Project CARS once the February DLC releases. 17. The Wait Is Now Over, Coming To pCARS Are New Motors Last week we discussed the upcoming car and track pack coming to Project Cars. Well... it's no longer upcoming, instead, it's now released almost here! It should be hitting your PC, Xbox One, or PlayStation 4 at this very moment (if this very moment is Jan 29th). With this latest pack we get the flavour of StanceWorks, the insanity of Mad Mike, and the beauty of the Scottish Highlands, which we'll talk more about below. But first, check out this tasty trailer: What an incredible trailer, and I'm not just saying that because 60FPS makes me happy. Now, you're probably ready for the deets (details). The Cars The Freebie: From Australia's mental V8 Supercars series, the 2014 season's Ford Falcon FG. It has a large V8, rear wheel drive, and is used to racing around tracks like Bathurst. What more do you need to know?! The Austrian: No, we don't mean Arnold Schwarzenegger... or that other guy. KTM's first dive into the waters of sports car manufacturing, the KTM X-Bow R. 300bhp in a car that weighs only 790kg. Not bad for a first attempt. The Drifter: The crazy, mental, insane MX-5 RadBul Formula Drift owned by the legendary and probably kinda' nuts Mad Mike Whiddett. This thing's got a 26B engine, and if you're as clueless about Mazda engines as I am you'll have no idea what that is. It's a 4-rotor Wankel engine. I bet that clears things up a bit. Well that doesn't matter anyway, it makes braaaap braaaap noises and has a lot of power. The New Kid: The BMW 1-Series M-Coupe, a sort-of spiritual successor to the classic 2002. StanceWorks turned the 1M into a purpose-built, GT3-inspired racer, and it probably breathes fire. StanceWorks have designed a full kit for this beast, making it look really mean. And it's no sheep in wolf's clothing either, it's putting out 460 of Munich's finest horses. The Old Fart: Inspired by the legendary FIA cars, the 2002 features Group 2 bodywork with boxed fenders, nixed bumpers, and M1 Procar-inspired mirrors. And if that's not enough to excite you, it literally has a Formula 2 engine. No seriously, a high-revving BMW M12 is under the hood, waiting for you to thrash it. The Track We've waited years, and now it's here. Or maybe you didn't know it existed, well either way, it's here. Bannochbrae takes you through 4.5 miles of roads situated in the Scottish Highlands, a country legendary for it's twisty, challenging driving roads and of course, a certain famous Loch. Whether or not there is a monster in the waters of the "Misty Loch", I can't tell you. No one knows for sure. Tell us if you like this, hate this, or why you couldn't care less over in the forums! [gallery link=file" columns="4" ids="3885,3884,3883,3882,3881,3880,3879,3878,3877,3876,3875,3874]
  18. StanceWorks And The Twisty Roads Of Scotland Come To Project CARS The latest upcoming release as part of the On Demand program from Slightly Mad Studios is an exciting one. This will mark the 7th pack to bring new cars to the game, and the 4th containing a new track. This month, the madness of StanceWorks comes to pCARS in the form of two epic BMWs, and as if that's not enough you'll also get a side order of Scotland's best roads. The Cars BMW 2002 Inspired by the legendary FIA cars, the 2002 features Group 2 bodywork with boxed fenders, nixed bumpers, and M1 Procar-inspired mirrors. The paintwork rocks a Lowly Gentlemen livery. For shoes, only the best Fifteen 52's forged 3-piece Integrale SC wheels. Inside, the car is stripped out, with only a set of vintage bucket seats, a true to form roll cage, and a MOMO steering wheel. The only sign of luxury in this beast is the Alpina-style gauges. Under the hood you'll find a BMW M12 engine, quite literally a Formula 2 engine, pushing out 260 of Germany's finest horses at an insane 8000rpm. BMW 1M A sort-of spiritual successor to the classic 2002, StanceWorks turned the 1M into a purpose-built, GT3-inspired racer. The bodywork is inspired by other GT3 monsters from the BMW line-up, such as the E92 M3 GT3, Z4 GT4, and M6 GTLM. It features a hungry-looking, massive front splitter, a not-so-subtle rear diffuser with four fire breathing exhausts, and the wing of a 777 on the rear giving a massive downforce of 350lbs at 150mph. Under the body sits a set of Fifteen 52 Formula LTW. Much like the 2002 the 1M's interior is completely stripped and set up for racing with some bucket seats, full cage, and a Motec display. Under the hood remains the original 1M engine, a 3.0 litre turbocharged straight 6. However, thanks to the addition of a new intercooler, exhaust and higher manifold pressure, the 1M is now making 460 horsepower. And to deal with all that extra oomph you get bigger brakes and H&R Coilovers to sharpen that handling. Also coming to Project CARS is Mad Mike's RADBUL Mazda MX-5, the KTM X-Bow R, and the Ford Falcon V8 Supercar as a free car. More details on these next week. The Track Also coming in this month's DLC is the long awaited, years-in-the-making Scottish Track. Named Bannochbrae and seen in the photos of the StanceWork's beemers, this track is a fictional road that gives you a taste of the best driving roads in Scotland. Long, winding roads, twisty bends, hairpins, and scenery that will make you think you're watching Game of Thrones. The pictures are reminiscent of the iconic Loch Ness, even showing a building that looks similar to Urquhart Castle. We can't wait to see it in person.. digitally. Check out the rest of the pictures below and feel free to join us in the forums and let us know your thoughts! 19. December's DLC brings the best of Renault Sport to Project CARS From Slightly Mad Studios comes the latest release in the On Demand program, available now on PC and Consoles, the Renault Sports car pack. Featuring the five of the best of France's highest selling car manufacturer, the motorsport rich Renault and the Radical RXC Turbo as this pack's free car. What's In The Box? 2015 Renault Sport R.S. 01 - A purebred track eating monster developed by Renault Sport Technologies. 2015 Formula Renault 3.5 - An open-wheel racer that gives a taste of the formula experience. 2014 Renault Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy-R - A hot hatch on steroids. Let us know your thoughts on the car pack in the forums!
  20. Small French Things On Three Wheels! Back in December 2013, World Of Mass Development (WMD) announced that an agreement had been forged with Renault to bring a number of models to the game. With such a great history in motorsport, it was an exciting thought to have these iconic cars in Project CARS. However, since launch players have only had the joy of racing the often three-wheeling hot hatches Clio RS Cup and Megane RS, until now. Coming to Project CARS this month is the Renault Sport Car Pack! While Slightly Mad Studios tease the new car pack on their Instagram account, the real leak came from Renault Sport themselves, who shared information about the new car pack on their website. Project CARS continues its programme of continual updates and delivery of fresh new content with the release of the Renault Sport Car Pack with Renault Sport R.S.01, Formula Renault 3.5, Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy-R and Mégane Trophy V6. Renault Sport Car Pack will be available on 22th December. Source: renaultsport.com However, speculation remains. Back in 2013, WMD listed six cars, these included 2014 Mégane RS, 2013 Clio IV RS Cup, 2013 Alpine A450, 1999 Laguna BTCC, 2009 Mégane Trophy II, and 1978 Alpine A442B. Could this mean there are more cars to come, being kept behind closed doors? There has been no mention of the Alpine models or the legendary Laguna, however with 6 cars expected to be in the new car pack, you have to wonder what the Christmas surprise could be. Looking at the Project CARS Instagram, they've also been teasing the Radical RXC Turbo, a possible free car for this month's pack, perhaps? Only time will tell. As Renault Sport kindly pointed out, like an early Christmas present, the Renault Sport Car Pack is due for release on December 22nd. Presumably. We'll let you know. Join us in the forums to let us know your thoughts!

  22. Patch 6.0 Is Live On Steam! Slightly Mad Studios have released yet another update to Project CARS. This patch brings a whole bunch of bug fixes, small tweaks, and new features to fine tune and improve your racing experience! Totalling at over 2GB, it's likely this update includes the supporting files for the upcoming November track pack. Online has received new features to give the host greater control over the session, such as the ability to kick a player from their server, enforce a mandatory pit stop, or set the race length by time. Another new feature is a dynamic race-end timer in which the timer is 50% that of the slowest lap time in public races or 75% in private races to add a bit of competition to the competition! In addition to this, the career mode, vehicles, tracks, physics and GUI have received bug fixes and tweaks to improve your experience. Oculus Rift users will also be able to enjoy some improvements to the HUD position/rotation/scaling editor and the movement keys layout, which now has two modes: movement mode and rotation/scale mode. 24. Coming This October To Theaters Near You! Edit 28/10/15: Out Now! Slightly Mad Studios announced last month a number of upcoming DLC expansions are to be released before the end of the year as part of their 'On Demand' program, ensuring continued development and new content for Project CARS. SMS are planning to regularly release new content, having already released a track expansion, a car pack coming this month and another "huge" track expansion coming next month, we can't wait to see what pCARS will get next! ON DEMAND is our way of ensuring Project CARS players receive brand-new content regularly, without being locked in to a pre-paid scheme. And our ON DEMAND program has only just started! With another Track Expansion coming soon, a special fan-requested Car Pack in October, and then another huge Track Expansion coming in November, Project CARS will continue to remain current and reflective of player feedback well into the future. - Project Cars: The Story So Far SMS has been using Instagram to tease us with the exciting additions to come in the fan-requested car pack, showing off an entire new manufacturer coming to Project CARS. In a post earlier this week, SMS revealed a stunning Toyota GT86 with the caption, "New cars. New brands. The work on Project CARS never stops." Not only can we look forward to the GT86, but also the Toyota's twin sister, the Scion FR-S, which appears to be coming to pCARS alongside the Toyota. There is a possibility of the infamous Rocket Bunny version of the FR-S/86 as part of the car pack, as was subtly teased in an in-game background. The GT86/FR-S won't be the only Toyotas coming to pCARS either. The Toyota TS040, the hybrid racer used in the FIA World Endurance Championship, was also teased with the caption, "A @24hoursoflemans prototype". It will be right at home on the Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe battling with the Audi R18 LMP1 already in-game. If that's not enough already, also coming soon to pCARS are two rally legends and what many would call the two best generations of the Mitsubishi Evolution, the Evo VI Tommi Mäkinen Edition and Evo IX FQ 360. Shown via Instagram with the fitting caption, "The Evolution of Racing". With three Mitsubishi Evolutions, and at least two Toyotas, we're wondering what the future holds. Can we expect to see the silver stars and blue of Subaru? Will the legendary 22B or the missing 86 sister, the BRZ, come to pCARS in the future? Update 22/10/15 It appears the "rocket bunny" 86 is confirmed! Multiple versions of the tuned Toyobaru have been shown with in game shots, looking like a real monster of a car. We can't wait, and with more images being teased at an increasing rate we can only assume the car pack will be released s**n. See more in the gallery and .gifs below. 25. Let's See If I Remember How to do This Blog Thang Did you know that we haven't published an article full of Project CARS screenshots since July 2013? Never mind that we haven't published ANY articles in 10 months. But we love righting wrongs so much that we occasionally have to create those wrongs ourselves- that's just our style. And with only 30 days remaining before launch (hopefully), now seems like a great time to share some of the latest screenshots posted by the WMD community.
