  5. The content is subject to change, see here for the latest info. This update is focused on our core modding community, with another big update coming soon... stay tuned! Download section enhancement The goal here is to have a simplified layout that's organized and easy to access, instead of digging through multiple sections to find and/or post content. * Forum categories now have been restructured to match file categories. Topic creation has been disabled on all mod post forums. Instead, please submit your file through our download section. You can choose to upload files to our server or submit a link. * All topics that were moved now have tags referring to their previous sub-forum (i.e. interior, sound, physics). We recommend you make use of the tagging system, which helps others discover your content. * File Categories are restructured and the page will now show all sub-category files. * Comments on files are removed; we recommend using the auto-generated forum thread for support. * Old generated support topics will be merged with the original thread started by the author. * Each support topic now has a button to the download page, featuring a new template. * Each support topic's content won't get overwritten on file version updates. The author now auto-subscribes to it based on his/her control panel setting. Tags are still synchronised. Wiki enhancement: + Added new guide / how-to wiki (open for all members to edit with stored revisions). + New listing and display style for News. General improvements: * Consolidated and added icons for menu items. * General style update. * Members will now be able to free up space by removing files directly from the attachment page. * More sidebars are being added across the entire site, which display relevant info and enable quick access. Also, in case you don't know yet, Test Drive Unlimited Platinum has a big update coming soon. Subscribe to its topic here. VintayTime... 10. there was some conflict over our official discord which I won't go into details, in short some culture clash from merger because one member doesn't want to see certain content. I want to take this opportunity to address the decision behind merger: there are multiple reasons for merger, one is both communities are dying, it is easier to pour resources to revive one than both cost is another factor, lot of web services and application license fees are tied to the domain, essentially paying double amount third is development burden, when patch, adding new feature, configuration, APIs, custom themes, modules, server, social / email marketing, templates, group control will otherwise require double amount of dev time fourth is human resources, it is much easier to recruit on a larger community, and the activities attract other activities I have expected some clash due to merger, Facebook has billions of users, you can't expect all of them share same interests, and I have carefully structured categories based on different need and interest, and those who doesn't like can avoid them it is human nature to fear changes, especially when introduced in their comfort zone, but imagine if I left TDuck of what it was, what it is gonna happen in another couple years? think about it. It is far easier to manage one community than two, especially they now share same system. I remain positive that the benefit of merger and recent changes far far outweigh any drawback

  12. Win Mantis Burn Racing + Elite Class DLC Thanks to the good people at UK-based indie developer VooFoo Studios and the universal cosmic luck in being picked as 1 of 2 winners in their recent twitter contest, we have a Steam code of their awesome top-down racer Mantis Burn Racing and its Elite Class DLC to give away! If you follow us on our crewed account then you will know that we will at times retweet contests and competitions that are currently being run by publishers, developers and hardware makers. How to Win? To be in with a chance of winning all you need to do is tell us ‘I want to feel the Mantis Burn Racing’ in a reply to the topic for this competition on our forum, where every valid entry will be assigned a number, then on Saturday September 30th a random selection from all entries made will take place and a winner will be chosen. (you must be a registered member to post in that topic) About Mantis Burn Racing Now if you know of this game already then I’m impressed and wish you the best should you decide to enter, however if you don’t then fear not as the media and information below should be easy enough to digest and get you interested. It should also be noted that many of the gaming media reviews are up to a year old therefore some of their criticisms have been tackled with updates since. Mantis Burn Racing is available now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
  13. Happy 10th Birthday To The Duck Oh my gosh I can’t believe it, we bloody well made it to year number 10!! Wow! Where do I start with this one then? I think starting at the start would be a good start, so that’s where I’ll start. Before It All Back in 2005 a trailer for a game showed at E3, this game was Test Drive Unlimited and it hooked me almost straight away. With its massive environment, great cars, bikes! (and I’m not even a huge bike fan but it was something different) and a general feeling of being more about the drive than the race, here was a title I had been waiting a long time for. In the run up to the original release for Xbox 360 in September 2006 it was clear that this game was going to draw in a good crowd and that those people would be of a sort that would just get what this game allows. Well that happened and they were easy to spot as they all visited the official Atari community forums, of which I later became a moderator on because of my selfless promotion of the game… I mean my helpfulness to others was just that amazing. Over that time of being on these forums I came to meet many of the members from it in the game itself. This showed there was just so much potential for a dedicated community to the game and being that I was in fact a long time admin of the Forzacentral community, the idea of where to go in relation to a name was obvious. And so... Welcome to Test Drive Unlimited Central Funnily enough, I still remember writing the original ‘Welcome to TDU Central !!’ thread at 3AM in the morning, ready for the ‘switch to be flicked’ at noon the same day. And as that time came to strike, the community of Test Drive Unlimited Central kicked off right on time at 12:00pm (UK time) on February 1st 2007. After about 2 mins this was shortened to TDU Central (TDUc) for obvious reasons and the community that enjoyed the game flocked over to the new place. All the good eggs came over and signed up and plenty of discussion, showing of media and arranging meet-ups and such were well underway. The PC mob weren’t staying away either as the release of TDU was heading their way and so over they came also. And it is thanks to these early pioneers that our popularity spiked as their early experiments in the modding of TDU started to show some real promise, and when new vehicles were getting closer and closer to being able to be put into the game, visitor numbers surged and activity frankly exploded. Unfortunately all this attention made our hosting practically do the same and so we had to look elsewhere and moving up the power chain meant increased costs, but thankfully a good amount of generous members contributed from their own pockets to keep things running. Over the years there were some really hard times and there were moments where we actually were away and had moved to a temporary free hosting forum which we subsequently labelled ‘TDU C-rap’ if I remember correctly. These hardships were overcome and forum life in general was pretty sweet, with plenty of regulars having fun and joking about with one another, game sessions and meets being proposed and members for clubs being sought after. This was a fun time! Here comes Test Drive Unlimited 2! In early 2009 the infamous BADNED, who you may know from Forza circles, posted about how a sequel was on its way, showing some of the old media and information that he had available to him. Unsurprisingly this lit a fire under people in our community and the chatter started to happen about what they hoped to see, what they wanted fixed and improved, and what the new location could well be. Well after that little burst of news I took it upon myself to go hunting for goodies myself and so, armed with Google and some knowledge on how to go about performing advanced searches, I set out on my web expedition and to my surprise, found quite a lot of stuff. Concept art, vehicle renders, interface graphics and icons and a small clip from a work in progress trailer video. Some of this concept media was displaying some weather scenes and so again another flourish of conversation and hype-building was unleashed on us. At the end of 2009 I received an email, this email was from none other than Mr David Nadal, head chieftain of Eden Games and in it he was responding to the info I had found and commented that he found it flattering and showed that the desire for a sequel was strong. He ended his message with words to the effect that '2010 will be an important year' and left it at that. It wasn't until March 2010 that the official drop arrived on the scene. As this is when an email containing details about TDU 2 and its first official screenshots went out. Naturally though, I was out taking care of some business down in the town when it arrived and so I missed being able to post it for our members before it spread like wildfire around the internet. (sods law and all that) Shortly after this I was invited to attend a TDU 2 event in Lyon at Eden Games with another fansite admin, Fabien of tdu.fr fame, where we were treated to a presentation about the game, allowed to ask questions, watch the game, watch the game crash (these things happen during development), play the game, comment on how the game was “twitchy” and “had too much grip” and then get a tour around the studio where many a vehicle model was seen that we had to keep quiet about. (still sour about no Lamborghini even though…) Understandably the other TDUc muppets were thrilled that I had been able to do this and had nothing but warm wishes and smiles for me when I got back but hey they and some of the regular scum members got a chance to head on down to London where at Namco Bandai Partners we got to check out TDU 2, eat pizza and watch Baldy consume an unhealthy amount of sparkling water. This was a really fun day and one I am so glad to have been able to do, not because of the game but because of being able to meet the people behind the words and see just how they were in real life. They were all quality people and I really would like to see them again in the future. *Aww* TDU 2 What Happened To You?! Not going to lie, TDU 2 for many of the original game’s players was not a good game at all. It fixed the problem of the roads and gave us a whole other island to play with but the core of it, the driving, was horrible. The cars were very twitchy and performing a powerslide was not as natural as it was in its predecessor, and not just in Hardcore mode either but there was a real feel of delay in getting the vehicle to respond to your controls and despite the lovely smooth roads compared to TDU, the driving just didn’t make it fun to play. I myself spent 98% of my TDU 2 playtime in the Casino, playing the slots or praying for the roulette not to crash out or say you’ve won but still take your money. Out of most of my gambling time a good amount was probably spent drinking cocktails in order to win a ticket for the high stakes Poker game. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed this aspect and the winnings from it allowed me to buy the yacht, all the Veyrons and every other hypercar but that was it. I could not drive them in that game and that kind of hurt as this was a sequel myself and my community had been waiting years for, and here it was and it was pretty bad…. for us anyway. Not ignoring the people who do enjoy the game but for fans of the original TDU 2 over on our place, it was quite the disappointment. Why turboduck? Within a very short time of the release of TDU 2 we realised that being a dedicated TDU community wasn’t going to work any more and so we opened up the discussion about where we should go from here. This talk was mainly contained within our chatbox amongst the regular and veteran members until a thread was created by tWm looking to create a proper conversation on the matter. It descended into mainly jokes and piss taking but there were a couple of genuine suggestions and comments on the matter. One of these was made by me™ who commented “Rename it to TDuck, as in Turbo Duck” and this was noticed, in fact as we were known as TDUc which was said as T-duck the name had came up before along with other words that begin with ‘t’. As I liked the name that much, in August I went ahead and registered the domain to keep it as a proper option. Throughout the rest of 2011 and into 2012 the name was picking up steam amongst people and so it was decided this is what we were going to rebrand ourselves as. I started work on the first version of turboduck which included a main site that had been missing for too long and version ‘one’ went live on October 23rd 2012. The focus was removed from TDU and all other games were brought in along with more typical gaming, automotive and motorsport talk and that has been our way ever since. We still have our crazy laid back ways and aim to make our members find fun on our place and will continue to do so for as long as I hold the admin hat. The future… ? Looking ahead, it’s going to a bit of a strange one. A new TDU looks to be coming so naturally people are watching that but with more caution because they do not want to be bitten again. A new Forza Motorsport is on its way and should be looking incredible on Scorpio and PC, GT Sport is just coming at some point (starting to really not care about that series), Assetto Corsa has brought an awesome PC racing sim to console, DiRT Rally has shown that a proper sim can sell and play well too, VR is making games even more fun and immersive and old names are reappearing making some of us ask… It’s been an epic time and a hard time but it’s certainly been one that’s been amazing to see. I thank each and every member who has posted and shared anything worthwhile on our community forum and wish you all the best in life, even if that means leaving us and finding your way in the real world. Just make sure to come back now and then and let us know how you are getting on. As for us. We will just keep on keeping to our motto: Be Stupid Responsibly! Cheers! – turboduck team
  14. It's around this time of the year (not really) that we ask for feedback from you guys on how you think we're doing and what if anything (say negative things and you get banned) you think or feel we should do better, do less of or do at all. This year and beyond gaming wise should be a good one what with E3 and the next-gen of consoles coming, but not just that as PC should get a big boost from the more PC centric workings of the PS4 and Nextbox so for a change everyone should win! So here's your chance to talk to us and express your views, opinions and more importantly your recipes for the best bowl of Cornflakes. We're thick feathered so even saying bad and hurtful things is welcomed as we can't learn the bad stuff if you don't tell us. (you'll still be banned of course :cheeky:) Cheers! turboduck team :bparty:
  15. Sport the turboduck A number of us here on turboduck backed the crowd-funded Slighty Mad Studios project that ended up as Project CARS, and one of those 'us' in particular was Ryzza. With more money than sense he became a Manager and this entitled him to have his own advertising board (it's on Brands Hatch) and car livery in the finished game. And incredibly he gave this honour to us! Back in 2014 in a select area of our community there were talks and discussions going on where the conceptualising of a vision was taking place, and the one bringing the suggestions and imaginings of those talks to digital life was Milli - a graphics/product designer who naturally took to the task like a turboduck takes to goat washing. (that means really well) The initial decision was for the type of car to have the livery shown on and there were many opinions voiced, starting off with a BMW Z4 that was quickly dismissed due to already being used by some, then it was a flurry of proposals for those not even in the game and then somehow Ry started playing with a RUF. And despite some initial reservations and the solo mentioning of using a 'beetle' this was the car we started to take seriously for the task. Within a short time concepts started to show, as Milli using her talent would take what we were picturing and describing to greater heights, continuing to impress us with every update she dropped. As the game's development progressed, more and more vehicles became available to use for 'painting' and with it being Ry's perk, the ultimate final decision on which car we go with would be down to him entirely. Through the gentle persuasion of others, the choosing to swap to an Aston Martin was made, and from then it was all about that car. This was fine and again Milli did her magic, making the livery fit onto the Aston and it was looking good. Unfortunately right at the death of submission, a slight issue reared its head, only found when one of the latest builds was downloaded and it was discovered that, shall we say the proper livery we all had come up with was... tweaked. And that was it, it was done for all we knew. Jump forward to this month with the US Racecar Pack and the update alongside it becoming available and the original vision is properly out there for all platforms and players to raise their eyebrows at. Realise our delight as we picture the confused expressions forming on faces as they ponder what the hell is 'goat washing since 2007' and who on earth are the Squirrel Mafia and why do they appear to own a security firm. What once we thought had been lost has arisen and come back! Thank-you Ryzza, Milli and SMS for allowing this to happen!! Accompanying the turboduck RUF is also a BAC Mono in our SEVEN colours. SEVEN is the name of our current style you can see on our site and forum with the red, white and blue colour scheme. The turboduck imagery doesn't end there either: we also have a very small logo on the #98 Ginetta G55 GT4, put there by our very own superhyper who designed that one. And lastly as mentioned very briefly above, we also have our mascot and name emblazoned on an advertising boarding on the Brands Hatch circuit. Why not see if you can find it? 16. [headline]Donald Where's Your Doontime?[/headline] Hey there, if you had some difficulty visiting us today (or still are and are not able to view this until now) then please accept our apologies. The issue was caused by an expired domain of ours, that domain was tdu-central.com. An old one that many of you will remember us having before we became turboduck, but a domain that we treasure and keep due to it being an integral part of our history. This domain is not just used for rose-tinted look backs though, nope it's also used as our nameserver domain so when it expired without notification (bloody host!) all the servers around the world updated with this and thus you were unable to connect, as the correct routing was not being provided to your browser in order to reach us. Thankfully though, one of our lazy-eyed (cheers Baldy!) staff notified myself about this, as it appears my ISP is incredibly late in updating their DNS and so I was still able to get on and not realise the issue that was going on! :oook: The domain has since been renewed, the nameservers updated and now we just wait for the info to propagate around the world, in a manner that tells when our visitors want our domain, they go via the correct route and reach us as is normal. Again we are very sorry for any inconvenience and low-duck filled viewings you have experienced today due to this. Thanks for reading this and for being a member of our community! :duck: *QWUACK!!* - turboduck team tl;dr: a domain expired which meant your browser had no idea how to reach us.

  18. As I am working away hard on the next look of the :duck: by myself on my lonesome, trapped in a hell I cannot escape it occurred to me that my mind is turning into spaghetti thinking of how to approach this place in the future in how it's structured and laid out. So I'm going to ask you muppets for your thoughts, suggestions, ideas etc and see what works and what will need to be put away till the year 2019. Main areas of interest: * How would you like to see the dedicated game forums laid out? * How would you like to see the Mod Shop laid out? * Would you like us to expand the Mod Shop to other titles? * Is there anything you would like us to do (within reason) to make your stay more pleasant? * ... We ARE glistening so get those thoughts and crosses in while we're alert!
  19. As a Project CARS Manager, one of my perks is having a livery of my choice in the final game. Since I can't think of any good ones that benefit me, the next obvious choice is to make a tduck livery. I'm not asking anyone to actually make this for me (although if you can that would be great ), but rather the purpose of this thread is just to form a design committee to help form the livery from start to finish. Since none of you can view the thread directly I'll have to copy the brief here - just don't spread this out everywhere ok (nothing super secret, it's just in the Manager forum because that's the logical place for it). The tasks as I see them are: 1. Get Diablo's approval/thoughts - done 2. Pick base car/car type (thinking GT3 or street class... maybe one of the yet-to-be-announced Audi's) 3. Pick base car paint colour(s) - done (yellow body, orange bonnet, green roof) 4. Design logos and choose best one, also the main font type and colour turboduck Diablo to provide larger/alternative PSD files 5. Dream up additional sponsor names/logos and/or use existing SMS ones Graham's Goat Washing Someone to create and submit draft logo I <3 Bacon rear ID plate Members to think of a plausibly legitimate business name (not real) and submit draft logos 6. Logo/text/sponsor placement on car 7. Driver Names 8. Car/Driver number - done '07' I'm open to all suggestions (even if you're not artistic you can think of sponsor names that somewhat reflect our heritage and insanity (I forsee a Goat Washing sponsor for instance). Of course Diablo (site/brand owner) and myself (perk owner) can overrule if we feel we have to but I'm hoping this will be a popular community project. Just remember this livery will appear in the final game for you to select and take awesome screenshots of so get involved. *waits for Diablo* Previous examples: Is the Audi theme a coincidence?Diablo to provide larger/alternative PSD files
  20. I was looking through the mods section for TDU2 and it seems some mods threads that were there just a moment ago have left. Or is it just me? For example, spring environment, fall environment and more rain.
  21. Hey all of you! Right listen, we have a site after so long of not having one (god you guys went on and on) and I am trying to do my best to keep this place, that place, my real place and my living place all moving in a fun continuous motion. However I am only 3 people in 1 man and I need help! I have good folk like Ryzza and TDUFREAK, and when he can manage it, Loz, who help with the posting of News and such but I really do need more of you on-board. So if you feel you could take charge of being the main writer for a set game or series as well as are relatively comfortable writing and using web based CMS systems like WordPress (what we use), Joomla, MovableType, Drupal etc then please get in touch and we will string you up and give you a trial and see if you make the bolognese. I'm useless at writing, I can admit that but I am doing this because a) I have to and b) I want to improve in my writing, punctuation and grammar plus it's fun and gets new people to the community and also gets the highly-serious turboduck name out there. :oook: So give me a shout in here or PM and let me know what you would like to take as your own, if we get a decent contingent of people I can start sending out pigeons to PR contacts and get you guys into doors and fridges maybe that will help with your writing about your said subject. Thanks! games Assetto Corsa DRIVECLUB Auto Club Revolution Forza Motorsport 5 Forza Horizon 2 (News - keep an eye out and post about it until it's announced) The Crew BeamNG.drive Next Car Game Grid franchise Dirt franchise Grand Theft Auto V iRacing rFactor 2 NASCAR game World of Speed etc... car stuff Motorshows Motorsports Events Videos TAXTHERICH Top Gear Chris Harris Industry News etc...

  23. What is 'Woollarding' I hear some of you's ask? Well its posing with your car bonnet up to put it simple. It's named after the original Top gear Presenter William Woollard and the craze started out on a FB group page for classic British cars, and kind of grew from there. Still wont see it referenced in mainstream motoring as of yet, or the 'yoof' doing it. But a few places have pickec up on it...a quick google of it and you'll see. The original picture is this... Bonnet up, foot on the bumper(or on the front of the car if there's no proper bumper space) and looking at the camera like this is the original, but in general posing with the bonnet up and having a leg up class's. Be creative is you can, people have done it with mid-engined cars, forward lifting bonnets and such! So lets get ours kicked off with me & 'Wolf'.. :img: See how many we can get! :)
  24. If you haven't noticed already, our mascot turboduck (or tduck for short) has had an upgrade! He went out this weekend and got his racing license as well as a turbocharger for a body and has ditched the green hat, though he's deliberating whether to have a green helmet or not. What do you think and should he go for the green helmet or not? :duck: and with the green helmet
