  1. That's the most basic opening I know, and I don't know many. Basically, you back up your queen with a bishop and move the queen to right in front of the oppsing king. The easiest way to defend against that is to bring out your queen or bishop so that your king has a place to move to.

I started another game with you if you want to accept it?

  2. If you make a mistake while you're horning - that could be a problem. Like what if you're in the middle of horning and you press the wrong button? Or what about when NPC drivers horn? You'll think you're mate is horning at you and it could become really confusing. What if you're horn fails? I hear that happens to everyone at some point.

    ...okay, I'll stop.

  3. A date? Well, that's hella lame. I'm with Nismo on this one; it would've been cool to be able to change it. Or it at least should change itself to reflect your progression in the game.

Bobby, tts, I just figured out what your avatar is. I've been seeing it as the chest of that one X-Men guy with the visor. The yellow was wrinkles in his shirt. Now I see the face and the X is his ear. lol@me.

  4. I watched my brothers play chess for years while growing up and I want to surprise them one day by beating the hell out of them at it. ...or at least giving them a decent challenge. ;) So I've been teaching myself how to play for a little less than a year now. I've only played 2 against real people, the rest has been against a computer. I'm not great by any means, but I'm decent at pattern recognition and I know that by playing real people I can learn a lot more than from a computer.

If you're interested create an account on chess.com, start a new game and type "killerbox" in the Opponent field to challenge me. Please set the timer to 5 days (or more) per move.

  5. Thanks for the warm welcome, all. I see the first three of you are in Australier. I spent some time on the east coast there. The sky is different at that latitude. Very beautiful place. I've also been in Rickmansworth for a time. *waves* This is a fairly broad game-community it seems.

"Manly" games? SR2 was the first game I was ever able to play as a woman. I made my character look exactly like me and it really changed the gaming experience. Imagine (being a guy) having to play as a woman in every game. It would be a totally different experience for you. ...actually, you would probably be more concerned with enjoying the view. =P

And I think Wheelman was made for girls. I mean, come on, it's Vin. What woman doesn't fall to pieces for that voice and those eyes? *fans face* But yeah, the GTA's are certainly guy games.

"How the boys look at ur 'passion'?"

Depends on what you mean by "passion". I'm going to take that as "for gaming". I'm not sure how they view me for it, but I hope it's good. I know this may sound cheesy, but one day I want to be a really good wife. So I started playing Forza just to learn about cars. I've also learned about sports and stuff like that (through games, wiki, and friends). I can't stand watching basketball (though I like to play it). Football is okay, but only with a bunch of friends. Boxing is great. My last boyfriend and I played the GTAs and We Love Katamari a lot. When I moved away he "left" his PS2 with me and a case containing a bunch of games. Not having met many cool people here, one day I was bored and had a friend plug the PS2 into my computer/TV/stereo and well I'm still playing games.

"I agree with Forza 2 being boring after short while.

You're the first person that has agreed with me on that. I was pretty much booed off of a Forza board for saying as much. The cars were cool, but I honestly don't think that reversing a track or adding a few extra turns was enough.

  6. Secret: Blush isn't my last name. It's just what I do a lot. I'm German-Irish with very pale skin that enjoys turning red without informing me. It tends to give me away at times / let's people read me rather easily. Veronica is my first name, but I prefer to be called Onica by friends. I'm in my low 20's, born in NY, but I've spent most of my life in other countries. I've been back in the states for a few years though.

I've only played one driving game besides TDU, which was Forza 2. Around the 100 race mark I was so bored by having to drive the same tracks over and over that I started spending a lot of time in the designer. I think they call it a "Livery" for some reason. (Sounds like a body part factory to me.) I finished over 200 races and just couldn't take it anymore.

A friend mentioned this game and I'm so glad I was eventually able to find a working (used) copy. No manual or box. Not that they seem really necessary, but if it had come with a detailed map/poster I would have put it on a wall.

Mainly I like cruising around and goofing off more than racing. This game has some great scenery and I enjoy the cities sometimes as well. I just wish the camera didn't snap back or that I could get out of my car and walk around a bit. Oh, and I very much dislike how I'm transported back to the road when I wreck my bike into a tree after I've been off-roading for a while.

I really love the in-car / in-helmet views, and the little details like being able to roll down my windows, and change my clothes. Although the vehicles were really bad in Saints Row 2, I do miss the Cruise Control and think it would have been a great feature in this game.

    I'm playing this on a 360, but I don't have xbox Live.

    Other games I'm playing:

    Wheelman

    Ace Combat 6

    Crackdown

    Beautiful Katamari

    H a l o (my first 1st-person shooter game)

    Just Cause

And I'm a huge GTA fan, but not currently playing any of them. I couldn't get L&D without Live and after unlocking the 3rd island and last residence of IV, I became bored with it. Forced "Missions" don't really appeal to me. I just like to do my own thing and I want all options from the start - though I do enjoy goals. Which is one reason that SR2 is my all-time favorite game. 400+ hours on that one - before I started the 5th mission. My timer glitched around 300h and I don't know exactly how long I actually played it.

Well, that's a bit about me. And by now you've probably guessed that I like to type a little.

    Cheers,

    -Onica

  7. Being new to the board (and quite possibly a forgetful hardheaded half-drunk moron), I keep clicking the image of the car at the top expecting it to return me to the main page. It's a simple/small thing, but it would be cool if that pic were a link to index.php.

    *throws two pennies at ya*

    Why?

I took "driving music" lists provided by Cyborg_Mantis, Fuzzy_duck, (TDU drivers from another game board) and myself to create a youtube playlist of 81 fast driving songs that you may end up enjoying. I didn't include my "Chillin/Cruisin" list. Some of them aren't the best quality - it's youtube. But it'll give you some great ideas.

  9. They force you to use the Manual if you want any kind of power from your car. The Auto always redlines way too long before it shifts up (especially in low gears and horribly so in low-end cars) and you end up loosing too much torque. You end up shift up before it does - which can cause an unnecessary fight most of the time.

What they need is an assist that downshifts for you when you apply the brakes heavily for a set duration. That would be the mac.

  10. - If you park at the end of a dead-end street you'll see racers appear out of thin air. Well, a puff of smoke is more like it. A good place to witness this is at your Mililani "Haven of Peace" residence. (near middle of map)

    - Your steering wheel may cast a shadow on the seat beside you, but your arms and body never do.

    - The reflections in the windows of buildings don't show what's in front of them. They show other buildings - even if there are no buildings there. This can easily be seen on the northwest coast on buildings facing the ocean.

  11. I would love to, but sadly I don't have Live. My modem goes from the wall (as a phone cable) to my PC into a USB plug. And I don't have a network car in my computer. If I could figure out how to connect my 360 to the internet I would be on it in a heartbeat.

I now have the sexiest car I've ever seen! That reserve system is a joke. It never notified me. I went to a shop so I could curse at the sales people and they had one available. Yay! Thanks for taking the time to help me, Knuckles. :D

[mod edit:] Please do not double post, use the edit button, thanks!

  12. Grrrr. Thanks. I guess I'll go for a short drive then jump back to my crib to check - maybe a few times. I really want that car. After I get that one I'm not going to race for quite a while. I reserved it once before hoping it would pop-up a msg about it, but it never did. :(

  13. Reserving A Car?

I reserved a car that wasn't in stock and it said it would inform me through the News once they have another. I've been sitting in my house waiting for it to appear for quite a while now to no avail. I've been leaving it on the News page and every once in a while I'll exit and re-enter. Nothing. Do I have to do something special to make this happen?

    Map / List of Residences?

Does anyone know if there's a list or map anywhere that shows all purchasable residences, their prices, and number of cars they can hold?
