  1. You really can't protect the wheels from being scratched in any way imho. If they are curbed or have big stone chips and whatnot, I think the only way is to get those poor wheels refurbished. Some tires in bigger sizes have little rim protectors but that almost have no impact on defending the rims. Polish does not protect anything. It either fills (Glazes, Fillers, and after a few washes the scratches are there again) or cuts away (those are abbrasive polishes). Here's another maybe helpful link that I have in my bookmarks. By the way, cis, I thought MkIV's with 18" wheels had 225/40 tires?
