I have a suggestion: do you think it could be possible to make the interior part of the headlights like this?

So when you go to a paint shop and you paint the car, for example, in yellow, the headlights would be yellow as well, matching the exterior color. I think it would be a cool addition to the mod.

I hope you understand what I mean.

The equation is EXISTING TDU1 ROADS x NEW OAHU ROADS x IBIZA ROADS

 

The road area of TDU1 is obviously equal to itself.

The new roads amount to (guessing here) almost as much as TDU1 had.

The Ibiza roads, as we've discussed, are about equal to half of Oahu.

 

Therefore, the only way for the equation to work is for Oahu to return with almost twice as many roads (coincidentally backing up the "increased detail" claim). Is that helpful?

Yeah but in the Gamereactor article they didn't talk about O'ahu being reused in TDU2:

It would be very strange to have 2 completely different islands (different vegetation, architecture, climate.....) next to each other.

So I think it's 3750km of drivable roads/tracks in Ibiza only (Ibiza is 570km2 and has roads going all over the place, so 3575km is possible imo.)

Fair enough, I suppose with Ibiza being quite close you could always hope that it could be a boat trip away in the game. Perhaps during a special event day like the F1 or a motorshow. Just think the South of France area would be better than Ibiza.

It would be fun but Ibiza and Monaco are actually like 400 miles apart.

As far as the 'size' of the environment goes (be it stretch of road or area), can we clear things up and post the most likely situation somewhere prominent?

 

Wikipedia tells us that Ibiza is 220km sq, and O'ahu is 596km sq.

Ibiza in TDU2 will have more roads than O'ahu in TDU1.

O'ahu will be back in TDU2, but with more roads (offroad tracks, etc) than what was in TDU1 (according to the report in 2007 by that Intern dude) (possibly no longer the case, but we'll see).

 

Hypothesis for explaining why TDU2 will be 2.5x bigger than the original game:

O'ahu in TDU2 will have all of the roads from TDU1 (1x) PLUS a whole lot of new roads, since half the island had no roads before (~1x), plus there is a new, smaller island called Ibiza in the game (~0.5x).

1x + 1x + 0.5x = 2.5x

True however one way the developers could implement a natural barrier is border control. As Monte Carlo is a separate state to France and shares borders with Italy, you could effectively stop the game when you reach each border due too border control etc. Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s the reason why Monte Carlo is a tax haven……. due to being independent to France

Monte Carlo is a part of Monaco. And there's no border between Monaco and France.

The reason why TDU will never be in Monaco is because it's very very small. It's only 0.76 sq. mil. (1.95 km²).

O'ahu is 596 sq. mi. (1,545 km²) and Ibiza is 220 sq mi (571 km²)

BTW: If the game is at E3 Expo in June 2010 and looks done, we can definitely expect it for fall 2010.

EDIT: Eden Games and Atari won't be at the expo actually......so Idk.

O'ahu is a lot bigger than Ibiza (596 sq mi against 220 sq mi) but in TDU1 there wasn't a lot of roads compared to the surface area. The middle of the island was almost empty, the mountain parts as well. So who cares if Ibiza is a smaller island...There will be 2.5 times more mileage, it will take A LOT of time to go through all the roads.

The bigger the road, the darker the color is. Just like in real maps.

Hi, just joined the forums.

 

I noticed that the Megapack download from Atari is now half-price, only US$10. At that price, I am considering buying it. For those who have it I had a few questions.

 

1. Is the Megapack worth it?

2. Will my existing online profile be ruined if I install the Megapack now?

3. Are any of the cars in the Megapack of type G? (I really like the old, classic cars. :cool:)

I like all new features, and I would like to see some serious off-roading, and maybe some Renaults, like Alpine A610, Spyder, maybe Clio Williams, 5GTT and mostly for me Renault 19 1.8 16v Phase I.. ;)

Unless the car list is as big as GranTurismo I doubt there's going to be Renaults and all.

Btw: I hope they still have the Ferrari license..........TDU without Ferraris isn't TDU.

I'm not very impressed by the quality of the cars right now. The scenery looks great though.

EDIT: btw, just an idea: There might be multiple different islands. I thinking that because if you look closely at the pictures, you'll see that the environments are different. In the Viper and Apollo pics, it looks like TDU1 with palm trees and stuff...In the 300SL picture, the trees kinda remind me of the vegetation you find in Japan. And I think the vegetation in the Zonda F pic looks Mediterranean.

Anyway, it's good to see that the vegetation is going to be different. I'm tired of seeing 1000s of similar looking trees in TDU1.

I know that this is an old thread but..... for some reason the physics that I have to install crash my game so I have to do it manually. What are the correct gear ratios for this car???
