  1. To earn 1.3Mill to buy the Mclaren F1 LM on TDU? I got it from Atari. I'm at Expert level. :)

You could sell all your current cars.

There's a race near the middle of the island called "180mph in heavy traffic" or something like that. It can give you 70,000 every 20 seconds. But you need a fast car to get it that quick, and you *might* need to be champion level to enter that race.

The delivery missions (if you've not done them all) give you loads of money.

There's no rush though. Trust me, the novelty of that particular car doesn't last long. Just enjoy playing the game.

  2. Delayed till October according to ign

What is it with games being delayed at the moment!

Companies are probably getting sick of being criticised for shipping sub-standard products.

It's very difficult to predict how long it'll take to write a piece of software. I'd rather have the game late than for it to be rubbish.

  3. If you're gonna limit the number of Enzos around, it has to be done by unlocking the harder levels. Otherwise someone with no talent but loads of time can earn the money on easy races and then use the Enzo to complete the harder races.

Not that I'm saying some races should be made deliberately too hard, but you should be able to earn your Enzo by showing your driving skills are up to a certain standard.

  4. That justinguitar site looks really good. Thanks for that - it's yet another source of lessons and easy songs to keep me going.

As for the guitars, well, you pays your money and you takes your choice. I'd personally go somewhere that'll set the guitar up for you. It can be really hard to start learning if the strings are too high above the frets. The place I went have their own QA procedure, and say that something like 1 in 15 guitars fail it and get sent back to the distributors. Guess where they go next? Yup, discount internet sites.

Anyhoo, I got some chords going together for a simplified arrangement of "Wonderful Tonight" at the weekend - G, D, C and Em. I was right proper proud of myself. I even worked out how some of the solo bits go. :D

  5. Well' date=' played the Bioshock demo just now, and I have to say.... AWESOME!![/quote']Awesome because of how it looks, or is the gameplay great as well?

I'm not impressed by stuff that looks and sounds pretty, but it awful to play. I learned that lesson with Shadow Of The Beast (an old Psygnosis game on the Amiga). It was totally stunning, but freakin' rubbish playability.

For that reason I'm most looking forward to Halo 3 and GTA IV. It'll be a real tough call to choose between those two for the one that I expect to be best.

However, I'm currently halfway through downloading the Bioshock demo, so maybe that'll be added to the list. My philosophy is this: No downloadable demo == no sale. (Of course, I might have to ignore that for GTA and Halo. I'd probably buy them even if no demos were released. :D )

  6. Don't expect first-person shooters or GTA to be any good on it due to lack of second thumbstick.

However, there are some superb games for it.

    Lego Star Wars

    Wipeout

    Everybody's Golf

    ...

And those games should be quite cheap now, too.

The screen looks awesome, too. They got that dead right.

  7. Oh God, only two?

Can I get away with two high-level topics?

    More cruise-friendly:

    - Multiple, group-shared waypoints and a north marker on the GPS display.

    - More players in a session

    - Ability to hop into the map without losing your session.

    Hardcore improvements:

    - Hardcore included as standard.

    - Single player challenges (hardcore only challenges, or a different set of targets for normal and hardcore modes).

  8. For me, the most fun got out of the game is the driving. It's nice to go and buy a new car while you've not got them all, but collecting the cars is not where the game is at, IMHO.

So I don't care if the money is too easy to get. And I agree with Speed_Freak. Yes, you can get 1m relatively quickly by doing the 180mph speed challenge over and over, but once I've got that million I definitely don't want to get another million by doing the same thing immediately. And if I was only going to get 1m each day, I'd rather do the Millionaires Challenge. Yes it takes you three times as long (or more) to get the money, and yes there's a chance of not getting the money, but at least it's fun.

  9. I'm into underground House music (esp. deep and progressive), old euphoric trance and house (Energy 52, Da Hool, BBE, System F, Paul Van Dyk, Armand Van Helden), maybe some breakbeat.

    some mixes

I also like really old synth bands (OMD, Eurythmics, the odd Kraftwerk track)

There are some guitar bands I like (Dire Straits, Simple Minds). I even have a couple of Metallica CDs (however I hate most heavy metal). I like some of the more modern stuff, too, when I hear it on the radio, but I'm not into it enough to have bought any of it.

MadMax, sorry fella, but that Verve remix is utter tosh. I'm very disappointed that an artist of Moby's calibre could release that.

In fact, I feel like that about virtually all modern commercial dance music. It's all formulaic tripe. Maybe I'm getting old. :D

Modern underground trance is rubbish, too. No-one seems to have the inspiration to produce anything good anymore. :(

  10. If someone was able to reverse-engineer the friend request protocol, identify a weakness in the XBox operating system (say, a buffer overflow issue) and craft a nasty friend request that contains executable code, it's entirely possible to create such a virus.

However, I suspect the OS code is reasonalby safely locked away. I think the effort involved would make the prospect very unlikely.

    It's more likely to be a hoax/chain-email.

  11. Are there varying types? - like Graphics cards (ATI and Nvidia etc).
There are different types. These days you could have CPU fans, case fans, Northbridge fans, Graphics card fans, power supply fans....

If you want quiet stuff, look at quietpc.com or overclockers.co.uk

I've replaced CPU fans and case fans, but not northbridge or graphics card fans. The latter two come fitted to the board when you buy them, and I don't think it will be trivial to replace them in the general case. Certain models may allow you to. Maybe. It's even less likely you'll be able to replace a power supply fan yourself.

Also, a great deal of noise can be produced by hard disks, which I didn't appreciate until I'd made the rest of my PC as quiet as I could.
