  1. I'm only messing, I got a few things to do but I'll see about this in the very near future.

    Nice.

I was thinking about something like this (texture mod badge) a while ago, since my plates and essp. the porschemod got downloaded quite a lot, but never really took any action in posting something about it.

I'll keep an eye out on this thread.

  2. Do not edit the Gall_SE entry, as it is not necessary to update model name. It might make TDU to crash...

Just replace the SE word by LP-560 (you'll notice Gallardo word is shared by all Gallardo models)

Concerning lengths, if you use a magic map, you can replace by the word the way you want, no matter how the size is. :)

I use the magic map/edited mpa file, but if I replace a word with a longer or shorter one, it DOES crash.....

    P.S.

Not having any problems, just editing the file to reacht the -2, 0 or +2 byte size. :) Just wanted to inform.

  3. I just played around with the DB Editor. Nice little tool... but not for what we are doing since we have to play around with the bits and bytes.

If you check the "keep original filesize" box, and you (for instance) change RUF to PORSCHE it will be truncated to 3 characters... thus making it POR.

So if you ask me... just stick with notepad... works best for this kind of stuff.

  4. Seemed to be more entries the second time when I opened it in Wordpad and searched for SE O_O First time I opened it in Notes...

[e]WTF? I changed the entry Gall_SE to Gall_LP560-4 (and deleted characters in an unused model somewhere else), this is the result:

    <img>

If I go to the DB9 which is next to it and then go back, this car says Aston Martin DB9 o_O I'm gonna use my back-up this time, I'm done :p

[e2] Actually, this is quite interesting, I got some investigation to do

So.... You changed Gall_SE to Gall_LP560-4 and got Lotus Esprit V8?!?

strange... I never had the other problem, neither did I ever have this problem.

  5. So you can change the names in there without a problem? Do you use any special program to open that file? And you mean the TDU_CarPhysicsData.us out DB_US right?

    A) Yes, I mean mean the TDU_CarPhysicsData.us out DB_US.

    B) No, I just use notepad. Works like a charm.

    C) You chancge the names but when you import TDU_CarPhysicsData.us back into DB_US you need to make sure it says that the file size difference is only 2 bytes (either + or -). Just ad enters/spaces or delete cartypes that aren't in use.

You could test it without doing that and applying the edited Bnk1.map, but I don;t knwo wheter that's going to do the trick.

JUST MAKE SURE TO BACK-UP YOUR FILES!

how to use Db editor, can u help, I just found brands and I don't know how to use.

I always use notepad. Simple and effective. What exactly are you trying to change?

  6. Don't think so.

Most cars have their names in the TDU_Brands.us file.

    --edit--

Just checked the TDU_CarPhysicsData.us file... I don't think other cars get "Ferrari" in steead of "Lamborghini" (for instance). Just backup your files and try. It's the best way to learn (and to find out which entry you actually need to change)! :)

  7. I'm looking to change the Gallardo SE to the LP560, but now I'm a bit unsure. One entry is called "Gall_SE". Would changing that do anything, or is that the file name it looks for for the car?

No. If you change the SE entry in the TDU_CarPhysicsData.us in your DB_US (or your language) it will only change the car's type/modelname, not the file it looks for. (basicly, this is what you are looking for)

Just keep in mind that "Gall_LP560-4" is much longer then "Gall_SE" so you'll need to delete some unused types/modelnames and add some enters/spaces to get to the same filesize. I don;t know wheter a edited Bnk1.map works on that front. Best thing is to back up your files and try around. When it doesn't work, you'll know! :D

    Good Luck!

  9. I just think the border is too much...;) I guess it`s taste.

haha! That was my "problem-point" as well.

First I made a postcard out of it, hence the border.

But it didn't come out the way I hoped it would so I played around with it ending up with this.

Still don't know wheter I like it or not. Think I'm gonna play around with it a bit more....

  10. I'm not whining or critisizing anything but Í'd just liek to say:

OMG! This is going to be such a great car and model!

DON'T and I repeat DON'T rush it in any way.

Rather have you working on it for a month more and release a perfect model then ruching it and releaseing a model with bugs!

    Keep up the great work!!!
